make_v most_o for_o this_o present_a purpose_n that_o be_v most_o large_o of_o those_o mean_n which_o with_o their_o use_n be_v less_o know_v and_o more_o brief_o of_o those_o with_o which_o man_n the_o other_o yet_o there_o be_v a_o manifest_a difference_n betwixt_o they_o so_o that_o the_o one_o be_v not_o the_o other_o and_o so_o i_o take_v it_o the_o apostle_n mean_v in_o the_o epistle_n to_o the_o ephesian_n where_o when_o he_o have_v name_v diverse_a duty_n as_o mercy_n love_n kindness_n ephes_n chap._n 4._o &_o 5._o which_o be_v part_n of_o the_o armour_n yet_o he_o say_v after_o our_o heart_n also_o ready_o dispose_v ordinary_o and_o for_o the_o most_o part_n throughout_o the_o day_n unto_o every_o good_a work_n then_o in_o vain_a shall_v that_o be_v write_v which_o be_v professor_n and_o civil_a person_n who_o irreligious_a life_n be_v cover_v with_o some_o outward_a exercise_n of_o religion_n be_v nothing_o less_o than_o please_v to_o god_n but_o utter_o abominable_a now_o see_v all_o duty_n can_v be_v practise_v every_o day_n and_o yet_o every_o day_n must_v be_v pass_v holy_o we_o must_v of_o necessity_n see_v how_o to_o be_v guide_v daily_o so_o be_v that_o we_o stain_v not_o our_o own_o good_a name_n and_o credit_v any_o way_n but_o maintain_v and_o preserve_v it_o commandment_n the_o last_o part_n of_o duty_n to_o our_o neighbour_n be_v the_o high_a degree_n of_o felicity_n which_o in_o the_o christian_a course_n i_o propound_v in_o respect_n of_o the_o deceivable_a vain_a and_o painful_a pleasure_n for_o so_o i_o may_v most_o just_o yet_o though_o it_o utter_v a_o prescript_n form_n of_o word_n i_o hope_v none_o will_v say_v that_o it_o be_v a_o sin_n to_o do_v so_o the_o heart_n be_v prepare_v in_o like_a manner_n to_o follow_v a_o prescript_n form_n of_o word_n in_o pray_v be_v no_o sin_n and_o therefore_o ought_v not_o to_o be_v offensive_a to_o any_o if_o it_o be_v say_v how_o can_v man_n repeat_v the_o same_o form_n of_o word_n daily_o as_o they_o do_v in_o the_o read_n of_o public_a prayer_n but_o it_o must_v needs_o be_v cold_o do_v and_o so_o abominable_a to_o god_n i_o answer_v it_o be_v not_o the_o oft_o pray_v for_o the_o same_o thing_n that_o make_v it_o odious_a to_o god_n but_o when_o it_o be_v do_v with_o a_o unreverent_a unprepared_a and_o corrupt_a heart_n for_o custom_n not_o fervent_o and_o in_o faith_n and_o further_o to_o satisfy_v they_o they_o may_v know_v that_o in_o all_o church_n and_o the_o best_a reform_a that_o they_o will_v allege_v there_o be_v a_o prescript_n form_n of_o prayer_n use_v and_o therefore_o they_o who_o be_v of_o mind_n that_o it_o ought_v not_o to_o be_v must_v separate_v themselves_o from_o all_o church_n also_o if_o a_o set_a form_n of_o prayer_n be_v unlawful_a than_o neither_o be_v the_o lord_n prayer_n which_o be_v a_o set_a form_n of_o prayer_n prescribe_v by_o our_o saviour_n himself_o to_o be_v use_v which_o yet_o though_o it_o be_v sometime_o to_o be_v use_v in_o the_o form_n wherein_o it_o be_v set_v down_o yet_o speak_v of_o it_o by_o this_o occasion_n i_o think_v it_o not_o amiss_o to_o add_v this_o one_o thing_n that_o world_n and_o have_v many_o deal_n be_v also_o in_o many_o company_n and_o meet_v with_o many_o cross_n beside_o their_o own_o forgetfulness_n and_o frailty_n be_v darken_v and_o distract_v in_o themselves_o and_o not_o be_v fervent_a and_o diligent_a in_o use_v good_a mean_n do_v doubt_n and_o fear_n and_o this_o be_v the_o estate_n of_o many_o and_o those_o of_o long_a profession_n under_o the_o gospel_n which_o sort_n of_o people_n till_o they_o settle_v themselves_o constant_o to_o walk_v with_o god_n and_o will_v be_v content_a to_o keep_v a_o narrow_a watch_n over_o their_o heart_n and_o life_n can_v be_v at_o no_o better_a stay_n for_o by_o these_o mean_v they_o preserve_v their_o faith_n and_o keep_v peace_n with_o god_n ordinary_o as_o we_o see_v by_o experience_n or_o easy_o recover_v themselves_o again_o if_o they_o be_v dim_v and_o over-shadowed_a chap._n 5._o of_o satan_n hinder_v the_o believer_n from_o live_v godly_a and_o how_o many_o way_n and_o namely_o by_o keep_v he_o in_o a_o wander_a and_o unsettle_a course_n and_o also_o of_o the_o remedy_n against_o it_o and_o first_o by_o occasion_n of_o that_o how_o he_o hold_v back_o the_o wicked_a now_o it_o follow_v that_o it_o be_v likewise_o show_v how_o he_o let_v the_o believer_n from_o a_o godly_a life_n life_n so_o that_o even_o good_a christian_n and_o they_o who_o fear_n god_n shall_v yet_o be_v keep_v back_o from_o many_o duty_n which_o both_o they_o will_v do_v and_o be_v heavy_a and_o wound_v for_o not_o do_v they_o he_o deceive_v they_o with_o some_o sin_n which_o do_v afterward_o fill_v they_o with_o deadly_a discouragement_n but_o because_o there_o be_v some_o who_o be_v hold_v under_o of_o dangerous_a and_o damnable_a let_n and_o yet_o think_v themselves_o the_o people_n of_o god_n way_n for_o discover_v of_o such_o by_o the_o way_n before_o i_o speak_v of_o the_o impediment_n which_o hinder_v god_n child_n i_o will_v as_o i_o promise_v brief_o set_v down_o some_o of_o those_o let_n whereby_o he_o hinder_v such_o altogether_o from_o practise_v a_o godly_a life_n though_o they_o think_v themselves_o sound_a christian_n and_o yet_o be_v not_o but_o do_v lie_v 3.9_o that_o they_o may_v glory_v in_o themselves_o no_o further_o than_o they_o have_v cause_n that_o be_v nothing_o at_o all_o but_o may_v know_v that_o they_o who_o be_v let_v by_o these_o be_v not_o godly_a and_o that_o true_a christian_n indeed_o may_v know_v that_o though_o they_o be_v sundry_a way_n let_v yet_o not_o like_o they_o now_o these_o have_v a_o heart_n long_o accustom_v to_o evil_a let_v which_o be_v not_o hard_o for_o they_o to_o see_v if_o they_o will_v enter_v into_o the_o sift_v of_o it_o and_o by_o mean_n of_o this_o they_o can_v give_v themselves_o over_o to_o be_v ready_a to_o do_v god_n will_v in_o one_o thing_n as_o in_o another_o but_o think_v it_o foolishness_n to_o do_v so_o and_o the_o best_a of_o these_o do_v but_o perform_v some_o outward_a task_n of_o prayer_n and_o confession_n of_o their_o sin_n for_o fashion_n or_o fear_n or_o some_o such_o like_a cause_n but_o not_o look_v for_o any_o strength_n thereby_o to_o be_v any_o whit_n the_o more_o godly_a neither_o in_o their_o action_n will_v be_v tie_v to_o be_v otherwise_o direct_v then_o as_o seem_v good_a to_o themselves_o again_o they_o neither_o attain_v to_o sound_v and_o clear_a sight_n of_o the_o forgiveness_n of_o their_o sin_n second_o neither_o will_v they_o labour_v for_o it_o by_o apply_v to_o themselves_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n but_o hope_v their_o state_n be_v good_a without_o that_o so_o that_o their_o life_n when_o they_o be_v at_o the_o best_a be_v but_o a_o bold_a presume_v of_o god_n mercy_n without_o any_o warrant_n and_o therefore_o either_o in_o that_o false_a confidence_n they_o die_v who_o estate_n yet_o can_v be_v good_a or_o else_o when_o it_o please_v god_n to_o awake_v they_o out_o of_o that_o spiritual_a sleep_n 78.35_o they_o confess_v the_o truth_n plain_o that_o they_o be_v in_o woeful_a estate_n 50.21_o and_o therefore_o they_o be_v unwilling_a to_o enter_v into_o consideration_n of_o the_o annoyance_n which_o sin_n bring_v but_o if_o they_o do_v yet_o it_o shall_v not_o touch_v nor_o great_o trouble_v they_o neither_o will_v they_o try_v to_o the_o full_a which_o of_o their_o action_n be_v sin_n but_o they_o have_v soon_o do_v with_o opinion_n for_o the_o most_o part_n that_o their_o own_o though_o all_o may_v see_v upon_o how_o weak_a ground_n be_v the_o best_a course_n when_o yet_o daily_a care_n of_o holiness_n be_v irksome_a to_o they_o and_o that_o all_o such_o as_o go_v further_o than_o they_o be_v but_o precise_a and_o foolish_a and_o full_a of_o fantasy_n for_o so_o be_v they_o for_o the_o most_o part_n account_v of_o who_o in_o particular_a draw_v the_o rule_n of_o religion_n into_o practice_n and_o yet_o they_o do_v not_o so_o easy_o rest_v herein_o but_o oft_o their_o conscience_n will_n they_o will_v they_o tell_v they_o that_o the_o godly_a life_n be_v best_a six_o to_o conclude_v either_o they_o be_v snare_v in_o sect_n and_o opinion_n above_o their_o reach_n which_o can_v stand_v with_o godliness_n or_o else_o they_o be_v so_o ignorant_a of_o the_o will_n of_o god_n in_o the_o scripture_n that_o if_o they_o have_v no_o other_o encumbrance_n that_o be_v enough_o to_o hinder_v they_o from_o so_o much_o as_o enter_v into_o a_o godly_a course_n or_o so_o hollow_a loose-minded_n and_o wilful_a that_o none_o can_v persuade_v they_o to_o do_v better_o and_o therefore_o what_o the_o comfort_n of_o such_o be_v may_v be_v easy_o conjecture_v these_o that_o i_o rehearse_v no_o more_o which_o be_v infinite_a yea_o even_o some_o of_o they_o be_v sufficient_a hindrance_n from_o a_o godly_a life_n in_o who_o soever_o they_o be_v find_v so_o that_o although_o the_o most_o will_v put_v themselves_o forth_o for_o godly_a yet_o be_v brand_v with_o any_o of_o these_o mark_n of_o satan_n they_o shall_v sufficient_o be_v know_v to_o be_v far_o off_o from_o such_o as_o they_o will_v be_v take_v for_o namely_o true_a christian_n for_o remedy_n such_o as_o be_v willing_a to_o seek_v after_o any_o i_o refer_v they_o to_o the_o first_o treatise_n of_o this_o book_n wherein_o i_o have_v show_v what_o way_n such_o shall_v take_v to_o be_v deliver_v out_o of_o their_o misery_n three_o now_o i_o will_v proceed_v to_o set_v down_o the_o let_n whereby_o god_n child_n be_v hold_v from_o practise_v the_o godly_a life_n and_o see_v many_o weak_a christian_n can_v easy_o tell_v that_o they_o be_v hinder_v from_o it_o than_o they_o can_v tell_v what_o hinder_v they_o as_o it_o be_v in_o bodily_a sickness_n i_o will_v therefore_o lay_v open_a some_o of_o the_o let_n whereby_o the_o devil_n do_v chief_o stay_v and_o hold_v they_o back_o from_o go_v forward_o and_o direct_v such_o as_o be_v trouble_v with_o they_o how_o they_o may_v in_o some_o sort_n be_v help_v against_o the_o same_o let_n and_o these_o general_o be_v three_o to_o the_o which_o the_o particular_n shall_v be_v refer_v for_o either_o the_o devil_n keep_v they_o in_o the_o want_v of_o some_o good_a thing_n without_o which_o they_o can_v constant_o proceed_v in_o a_o godly_a life_n or_o he_o press_v they_o down_o with_o some_o evil_a thing_n as_o inward_a or_o outward_a sin_n which_o take_v away_o their_o courage_n from_o godliness_n or_o else_o unsetle_v they_o so_o by_o occasion_n of_o thing_n lawful_a that_o they_o be_v hold_v thereby_o from_o a_o christian_a life_n let_n of_o the_o first_o sort_n i_o set_v down_o
do_v not_o see_v what_o and_o how_o great_a a_o benefit_n and_o privilege_n it_o be_v to_o all_o that_o have_v fall_v into_o any_o grievous_a crime_n at_o least_o as_o they_o count_v it_o and_o so_o have_v their_o faith_n weaken_v and_o their_o comfort_n appall_v for_o to_o a_o man_n in_o that_o case_n nothing_o be_v more_o comfortable_a as_o by_o the_o word_n of_o elihu_n in_o the_o book_n of_o job_n 23._o most_o lively_o appear_v say_v when_o a_o man_n shall_v be_v so_o wrought_v upon_o by_o the_o word_n of_o god_n that_o for_o fear_n and_o inward_a anguish_n he_o turn_v away_o from_o his_o own_o work_n that_o be_v his_o old_a sinful_a life_n and_o refuse_v his_o meat_n which_o be_v wont_a to_o be_v most_o pleasant_a unto_o he_o and_o sorrow_n take_v hold_v on_o he_o upon_o his_o bed_n &c_n &c_n if_o then_o there_o be_v a_o messenger_n of_o god_n one_o that_o can_v tell_v he_o god_n mind_n who_o shall_v be_v as_o one_o of_o a_o thousand_o unto_o he_o who_o can_v certify_v he_o of_o the_o favour_n of_o god_n that_o he_o shall_v not_o be_v forsake_v of_o he_o behold_v that_o man_n be_v reviue_v and_o he_o be_v comfort_v as_o in_o the_o day_n of_o his_o youth_n etc._n etc._n and_o every_o godly_a preacher_n have_v experience_n of_o the_o same_o both_o how_o many_o heavy_a heart_a christian_n be_v raise_v out_o of_o their_o fall_n with_o much_o comfort_n and_o how_o intolerable_a a_o estate_n it_o be_v for_o they_o to_o bear_v if_o they_o have_v not_o good_a assurance_n from_o god_n about_o that_o matter_n but_o this_o which_o i_o say_v be_v wise_o and_o wary_o to_o be_v hear_v &_o receive_v i_o confess_v that_o be_v to_o say_v it_o that_o even_o as_o it_o be_v with_o all_o thankfulness_n to_o be_v hearken_v unto_o of_o the_o afflict_a in_o mind_n and_o such_o as_o mourn_v in_o zion_n so_o likewise_o that_o in_o no_o wise_a it_o be_v use_v as_o a_o occasion_n to_o embolden_v any_o to_o sin_n or_o to_o gather_v hardness_n of_o heart_n in_o they_o that_o either_o they_o dare_v go_v forward_o more_o ready_o to_o that_o sin_n which_o they_o delight_v in_o because_o they_o hear_v there_o be_v hope_n of_o forgiveness_n to_o such_o as_o have_v run_v the_o same_o in_o the_o book_n of_o ezra_n the_o priest_n etc._n we_o read_v that_o he_o and_o many_o of_o the_o people_n of_o the_o captivity_n after_o their_o return_n home_o cast_v themselves_o down_o before_o the_o house_n of_o the_o lord_n pray_v and_o confess_v their_o sin_n with_o tear_n in_o abundance_n and_o chief_o this_o sin_n in_o that_o they_o have_v take_v to_o themselves_o wife_n of_o stranger_n which_o be_v a_o grievous_a breach_n of_o the_o lord_n commandement_fw-fr zechania_n the_o son_n of_o jehiel_n a_o godly_a man_n answer_v and_o say_v unto_o ezra_n it_o be_v true_a we_o have_v commit_v a_o most_o heinous_a and_o wilful_a offence_n in_o join_v ourselves_o to_o stranger_n and_o marry_v wife_n out_o of_o they_o but_o yet_o that_o we_o cast_v not_o ourselves_o hearty_a manner_n than_o do_v they_o encourage_v one_o another_o to_o look_v for_o mercy_n and_o forgiveness_n say_v there_o be_v hope_n and_o so_o it_o ought_v to_o be_v with_o all_o god_n child_n that_o when_o they_o have_v be_v supplant_v by_o the_o devil_n for_o all_o their_o care_n and_o watchfulness_n then_o ought_v they_o to_o embrace_v this_o sweet_a remedy_n and_o fly_v unto_o it_o as_o to_o a_o anchor_n that_o god_n will_v be_v entreat_v of_o they_o and_o so_o with_o more_o thankfulness_n and_o humbleness_n to_o walk_v forward_o if_o any_o therefore_o abuse_v this_o liberty_n to_o licentiousness_n and_o boldness_n in_o sin_v they_o shall_v bear_v their_o punishment_n and_o let_v they_o be_v sure_a that_o their_o sin_n will_v find_v they_o out_o thus_o we_o have_v see_v clear_o a_o matter_n of_o great_a difficulty_n to_o recover_v they_o at_o the_o length_n and_o who_o doubt_v but_o that_o it_o be_v the_o estate_n of_o the_o people_n of_o israel_n and_o of_o many_o generation_n of_o they_o 2.4_o and_o namely_o at_o bochim_n when_o they_o repent_v by_o the_o message_n of_o the_o angel_n and_o also_o a_o other_o generation_n after_o they_o who_o samuel_n 7.4.6_o after_o long_o stray_v from_o god_n bring_v home_o and_o of_o some_o of_o the_o church_n in_o the_o revelation_n 2.4_o as_o namely_o the_o church_n of_o ephesus_n that_o they_o stand_v in_o need_n of_o this_o encouragement_n who_o have_v leave_v their_o old_a first_o love_n although_o good_a thing_n be_v still_o find_v in_o they_o be_v tell_v by_o the_o apostle_n john_n from_o the_o lord_n perfect_a pattern_n therefore_o they_o grow_v to_o these_o absurdity_n and_o yet_o when_o their_o infirmity_n appear_v and_o affliction_n take_v hold_v of_o they_o god_n see_v it_o expedient_a that_o it_o be_v so_o for_o a_o season_n 1.6_o even_o than_o be_v their_o estate_n more_o to_o be_v desire_v than_o the_o other_o in_o their_o great_a flourish_v for_o they_o be_v belove_v of_o the_o lord_n even_o of_o the_o best_a and_o forward_a and_o few_o carry_v themselves_o as_o they_o may_v and_o ought_v to_o do_v in_o their_o course_n by_o give_v good_a example_n and_o this_o make_v the_o gospel_n to_o be_v less_o honour_v and_o embrace_v of_o many_o be_v whereas_o if_o it_o be_v a_o more_o common_a thing_n that_o the_o well-willer_n of_o the_o gospel_n be_v more_o faithful_a wise_a watchful_a love_a harmless_a fruitful_a etc._n etc._n it_o will_v cut_v and_o wound_v the_o heart_n and_o conscience_n of_o the_o bad_a and_o also_o encourage_v many_o of_o the_o weak_a sort_n unto_o their_o duty_n but_o yet_o shall_v the_o life_n of_o they_o be_v glorious_a before_o god_n and_o shine_a light_n to_o such_o as_o can_v see_v and_o discern_v while_o they_o that_o carp_n at_o they_o they_o have_v excellent_a gift_n of_o god_n in_o they_o yet_o the_o truth_n be_v where_o sanctification_n even_o the_o salt_n of_o grace_n be_v not_o to_o season_v they_o they_o be_v but_o as_o a_o pleasant_a and_o beautiful_a flower_n grow_v on_o a_o dunghill_n and_o as_o solomon_n say_v like_o a_o ring_n in_o a_o swine_n snout_n and_o thus_o much_o of_o the_o privilege_n of_o the_o true_a believer_n the_o end_n of_o the_o six_o treatise_n the_o seven_o treatise_n of_o the_o objection_n and_o cavil_n which_o may_v be_v bring_v against_o the_o doctrine_n before_o set_v down_o and_o a_o answer_n to_o they_o chap._n 1._o of_o the_o sum_n and_o order_n of_o this_o treatise_n now_o that_o i_o have_v set_v down_o the_o sum_n of_o the_o matter_n which_o i_o take_v in_o hand_n and_o have_v show_v how_o it_o behove_v the_o people_n of_o god_n to_o be_v direct_v and_o guide_v daily_o unto_o the_o christian_a life_n and_o what_o impediment_n be_v in_o the_o way_n to_o hinder_v from_o it_o and_o privilege_n to_o encourage_v to_o it_o i_o will_v now_o in_o the_o next_o and_o last_o place_n as_o i_o appoint_v in_o the_o entrance_n meet_v with_o the_o objection_n and_o cavil_n which_o may_v arise_v from_o thence_o that_o all_o the_o lord_n inheritance_n may_v walk_v after_o that_o course_n more_o resolute_o and_o bold_o especial_o when_o such_o objection_n as_o may_v trouble_v they_o shall_v appear_v to_o be_v but_o weak_a and_o vain_a as_o i_o nothing_o doubt_v but_o whatsoever_o show_v of_o reason_n may_v come_v in_o the_o way_n against_o it_o shall_v be_v see_v to_o be_v but_o the_o froth_n of_o man_n brain_n and_o carnal_a and_o i_o likewise_o hope_v that_o such_o as_o shall_v be_v acquaint_v with_o the_o doctrine_n before_o set_v down_o shall_v not_o only_o be_v encourage_v by_o these_o answer_n to_o practice_v it_o but_o also_o enable_v and_o persuade_v to_o continue_v therein_o till_o more_o light_n be_v give_v they_o for_o the_o well_o govern_v of_o themselves_o and_o that_o in_o a_o more_o perfect_a manner_n than_o i_o can_v set_v down_o in_o the_o mean_a season_n that_o this_o which_o i_o here_o have_v propound_v may_v help_v to_o direct_v the_o common_a sort_n of_o christian_a people_n as_o the_o godly_a learned_a have_v be_v teach_v of_o god_n to_o direct_v themselves_o for_o who_o know_v not_o this_o that_o even_o many_o of_o god_n dear_a child_n do_v and_o have_v through_o ignorance_n and_o for_o want_n of_o direction_n very_o dim_o see_v into_o the_o beauty_n of_o a_o godly_a life_n and_o uncomfortable_o go_v about_o it_o and_o have_v make_v a_o mere_a toil_n of_o the_o service_n of_o god_n which_o shall_v be_v the_o great_a pleasure_n therefore_o as_o it_o be_v not_o to_o be_v doubt_v but_o that_o number_n will_v rebel_v against_o the_o doctrine_n which_o range_v they_o within_o holy_a compass_n and_o will_v refuse_v to_o be_v subject_a to_o it_o and_o that_o they_o which_o do_v so_o will_v frame_v their_o judgement_n to_o their_o practice_n to_o excuse_v and_o defend_v that_o to_o be_v good_a which_o they_o do_v and_o beside_o there_o be_v no_o doubt_n but_o that_o question_n will_v arise_v in_o the_o weak_a believer_n about_o it_o to_o trouble_v they_o i_o will_v therefore_o as_o i_o say_v in_o this_o treatise_n set_v myself_o against_o such_o carnal_a reason_n answer_v the_o cavil_n and_o quarrel_n which_o they_o shall_v raise_v and_o bring_v for_o the_o defence_n of_o their_o evil_a life_n against_o the_o former_a doctrine_n and_o then_o remove_v the_o objection_n which_o weak_a but_o yet_o teachable_a christian_n will_v or_o ought_v to_o propound_v for_o their_o satisfy_n before_o i_o end_v treatise_n and_o i_o will_v do_v it_o in_o this_o manner_n first_o to_o answer_v they_o who_o object_n that_o there_o be_v no_o need_n of_o any_o daily_a direct_n of_o we_o as_o long_o as_o we_o have_v the_o scripture_n and_o therefore_o neither_o this_o which_o be_v before_o set_v down_o by_o i_o nor_o any_o other_o be_v of_o any_o use_n or_o to_o any_o purpose_n this_o i_o will_v answer_v in_o the_o next_o chapter_n then_o i_o will_v show_v the_o objection_n and_o cavil_n of_o they_o who_o say_v that_o neither_o this_o nor_o any_o other_o like_o it_o can_v be_v observe_v that_o be_v daily_o and_o set_v down_o their_o reason_n and_o show_v what_o great_a inconvenience_n they_o think_v will_v follow_v and_o to_o these_o i_o will_v answer_v in_o the_o three_o next_o chapter_n after_o both_o i_o will_v mention_v sundry_a of_o the_o particular_a doubt_n which_o be_v like_a to_o rise_v in_o the_o mind_n of_o such_o as_o be_v teachable_a and_o well_o dispose_v christian_n and_o arm_v they_o against_o the_o same_o to_o the_o ten_o chapter_n and_o last_o of_o all_o i_o will_v shut_v up_o this_o treatise_n and_o the_o whole_a book_n exhort_v all_o the_o faithful_a to_o make_v use_n of_o it_o and_o the_o unreformed_a to_o repentance_n chap._n 2._o of_o the_o first_o objection_n that_o their_o need_n no_o direction_n daily_o beside_o god_n word_n and_o therefore_o this_o be_v needless_a and_o first_o if_o any_o do_v marvel_n why_o i_o write_v any_o direction_n at_o all_o as_o though_o god_n have_v not_o set_v down_o in_o the_o scripture_n a_o way_n for_o we_o all_o to_o walk_v in_o to_o this_o i_o answer_v that_o if_o that_o be_v a_o good_a reason_n why_o no_o help_n for_o man_n weakness_n shall_v be_v set_v forth_o in_o writing_n because_o it_o be_v the_o same_o which_o be_v in_o the_o scripture_n than_o it_o shall_v follow_v with_o as_o great_a reason_n that_o nothing_o shall_v be_v preach_v because_o all_o that_o which_o be_v preach_v if_o we_o preach_v in_o the_o name_n and_o by_o the_o authority_n of_o god_n be_v out_o of_o the_o scripture_n but_o see_v there_o can_v be_v no_o doubt_n make_v of_o that_o &_o therefore_o that_o both_o preach_v &_o write_v be_v singular_a gift_n of_o god_n for_o the_o build_n up_o of_o his_o church_n &_o that_o all_o help_n be_v not_o
doubt_n objection_n and_o cavil_n which_o may_v be_v raise_v from_o or_o by_o occasion_n of_o the_o former_a doctrine_n as_o also_o of_o the_o answer_v thereto_o and_o now_o to_o shut_v up_o this_o treatise_n and_o the_o whole_a book_n for_o conclusion_n a_o few_o word_n in_o the_o way_n of_o exhortation_n i_o add_v both_o to_o the_o godly_a and_o godless_a and_o so_o i_o end_v to_o they_o i_o say_v this_o godly_a see_v you_o have_v some_o experience_n already_o that_o it_o be_v no_o lose_a labour_n to_o live_v under_o god_n protection_n and_o government_n but_o that_o in_o serve_v he_o devout_o there_o be_v great_a reward_n beware_v you_o wax_v not_o slack_a and_o cold_a in_o the_o course_n wherein_o you_o have_v begin_v and_o such_o of_o you_o as_o have_v know_v this_o point_n of_o truth_n and_o make_v conscience_n of_o the_o same_o to_o practice_v it_o i_o mean_v every_o day_n and_o throughout_o the_o same_o to_o set_v yourselves_o to_o walk_v with_o god_n which_o many_o and_o those_o also_o well_o mind_v have_v not_o do_v hold_v on_o your_o course_n and_o be_v not_o weary_a of_o well_o do_v for_o you_o shall_v reap_v the_o fruit_n thereof_o without_o weariness_n 6._o you_o have_v bear_v the_o great_a brunt_n already_o while_o live_v among_o many_o atheist_n papist_n and_o carnal_a gospeler_n you_o have_v receive_v their_o livery_n and_o censure_n and_o with_o all_o disgrace_n that_o may_v be_v under_o the_o gospel_n have_v reproachful_o have_v the_o odious_a name_n of_o precisian_n and_o puritan_n hypocrite_n and_o seditious_a person_n give_v unto_o you_o but_o if_o taunt_n mock_n reproach_n and_o discouragement_n have_v not_o turn_v you_o out_o of_o the_o way_n nor_o cause_v you_o to_o wax_v faint_a in_o your_o christian_a course_n neither_o let_v any_o other_o thing_n hereafter_o unsettle_v you_o but_o hold_v out_o the_o confidence_n of_o your_o faith_n and_o rejoice_v of_o your_o hope_n unto_o the_o end_n and_o so_o do_v i_o pray_v god_n 2._o indeed_o it_o be_v not_o meet_v that_o such_o as_o at_o the_o first_o enlighten_v of_o they_o by_o faith_n through_o the_o preach_n of_o the_o gospel_n what_o can_v not_o satisfy_v themselves_o in_o be_v thankful_a to_o god_n for_o their_o deliverance_n which_o they_o see_v shall_v after_o make_v a_o common_a matter_n of_o god_n love_n and_o leave_v their_o fervency_n in_o honour_v he_o and_o their_o first_o love_n to_o he_o which_o they_o think_v sometime_o can_v never_o be_v enough_o so_o and_o therefore_o it_o be_v not_o to_o be_v doubt_v but_o that_o such_o have_v many_o complain_n of_o their_o looseness_n and_o security_n and_o many_o accuse_n of_o themselves_o when_o they_o smart_v for_o such_o negligence_n and_o boldness_n in_o sin_v against_o god_n by_o such_o correction_n as_o he_o do_v inflict_v upon_o they_o and_o to_o omit_v all_o other_o for_o there_o be_v now_o no_o time_n to_o mention_v many_o even_o this_o be_v one_o that_o whereas_o many_o of_o they_o who_o while_o they_o walk_v upright_o walk_v safe_o yet_o since_o they_o wax_v more_o weary_a of_o god_n service_n they_o be_v drive_v many_o time_n to_o contrary_a straits_n complain_v that_o they_o can_v not_o find_v the_o comfort_n in_o god_n word_n and_o promise_n which_o they_o be_v wont_a to_o enjoy_v and_o who_o doubt_v but_o that_o it_o must_v needs_o be_v so_o for_o although_o some_o take_v discomfort_n without_o any_o just_a cause_n either_o when_o they_o can_v do_v the_o good_a they_o will_v or_o when_o god_n hand_n be_v upon_o they_o by_o some_o sore_a affliction_n in_o which_o case_n their_o grief_n ought_v not_o to_o exceed_v yet_o that_o it_o do_v so_o when_o man_n walk_v not_o sound_o with_o god_n and_o follow_v not_o that_o which_o they_o know_v they_o shall_v what_o marvel_n be_v it_o speedy_o it_o be_v their_o wisdom_n for_o both_o to_o amend_v and_o that_o speedy_o the_o one_o his_o error_n that_o he_o know_v not_o but_o both_o of_o they_o their_o careless_a halfe-seruing_a of_o god_n which_o they_o have_v offer_v he_o and_o to_o bring_v themselves_o to_o this_o that_o they_o hold_v and_o account_v it_o their_o great_a work_n they_o have_v to_o do_v and_o
