that_o which_o he_o chief_o design_v because_o though_o we_o shall_v not_o be_v punish_v yet_o if_o we_o remain_v in_o sin_n we_o be_v unhappy_a holiness_n be_v the_o ultimate_a end_n perfection_n and_o happiness_n of_o man_n bless_a be_v the_o pure_a in_o heart_n for_o without_o holiness_n no_o man_n shall_v see_v god_n s._n paul_n therefore_o say_v that_o christ_n die_v unto_o sin_n that_o i_o love_v one_o i_o must_v hate_v the_o other_o i_o will_v therefore_o as_o i_o be_o most_o bind_v and_o as_o i_o have_v promise_v forsake_v sin_n and_o follow_v jesus_n i_o will_v fight_v against_o his_o enemy_n and_o side_n with_o he_o against_o my_o own_o corrupt_a affection_n while_o i_o have_v a_o be_v i_o will_v love_v and_o obey_v jesus_n §._o 27._o of_o outward_a help_n and_o mean_n now_o to_o effect_v this_o mean_n be_v to_o be_v use_v for_o our_o heart_n will_v not_o of_o a_o sudden_a be_v bring_v to_o a_o religious_a temper_n it_o be_v not_o bare_a resolution_n will_v make_v we_o resist_v temptation_n when_o they_o assault_v we_o with_o their_o most_o prevail_a enticement_n grace_v indeed_o be_v never_o want_v to_o we_o but_o if_o we_o be_v want_v to_o ourselves_o we_o receive_v it_o in_o vain_a if_o we_o second_v it_o not_o with_o our_o endeavour_n we_o make_v it_o ineffectual_a now_o among_o private_a mean_n of_o grace_n for_o i_o speak_v not_o of_o those_o that_o may_v be_v have_v in_o the_o church_n in_o the_o dispensation_n of_o the_o word_n and_o sacrament_n belong_v to_o all_o fast_v alm_n and_o prayer_n which_o be_v also_o act_n of_o religion_n may_v meditation_n humble_a prostration_n etc._n etc._n and_o though_o needless_a scruple_n and_o reject_v of_o ancient_a ceremony_n be_v now_o much_o in_o use_n and_o credit_n yet_o among_o they_o i_o will_v reckon_v the_o sign_n of_o the_o cross_n which_o be_v certain_o use_v by_o primitive_a christian_n very_o frequent_o and_o yet_o without_o superstition_n thereby_o to_o vouch_v it_o to_o other_o and_o even_o to_o themselves_o that_o they_o own_a jesus_n christ_n crucify_v for_o their_o lord_n and_o saviour_n as_o also_o it_o be_v make_v upon_o our_o forehead_n in_o holy_a baptism_n nothing_o palpable_a or_o visible_a may_v in_o this_o life_n be_v the_o object_n of_o our_o worship_n it_o may_v have_v some_o power_n on_o the_o heart_n as_o well_o as_o what_o come_v in_o by_o the_o ear_n but_o though_o it_o have_v the_o warrant_v of_o antiquity_n yet_o it_o may_v not_o serve_v any_o
