they_o be_v make_v the_o word_n of_o abraham_n who_o be_v in_o paradise_n be_v bring_v in_o as_o speak_v they_o to_o the_o rich_a man_n in_o hell_n the_o occasion_n be_v this_o this_o now_o poor_a man_n not_o be_v able_a to_o obtain_v the_o least_o comfort_n or_o refreshment_n for_o himself_o under_o that_o unsupportable_a anguish_n he_o endure_v bethink_v himself_o of_o his_o friend_n and_o relation_n in_o the_o world_n and_o cast_v about_o how_o to_o prevent_v their_o come_n to_o that_o sad_a condition_n and_o for_o this_o purpose_n he_o beg_v of_o abraham_n that_o he_o will_v be_v please_v to_o send_v the_o happy_a lazarus_n into_o the_o world_n again_o to_o testify_v to_o his_o brethren_n what_o he_o know_v and_o have_v see_v concern_v the_o state_n of_o the_o other_o life_n and_o to_o exhort_v they_o to_o a_o timely_a repentance_n lest_o they_o shall_v come_v into_o that_o place_n of_o torment_n in_o which_o he_o be_v to_o this_o request_n abraham_n thus_o answer_v they_o have_v moses_n and_o the_o prophet_n which_o do_v plain_o enough_o testify_v against_o their_o sin_n and_o offer_v sufficient_a motive_n to_o they_o to_o repent_v and_o therefore_o there_o be_v no_o need_n of_o such_o extraordinary_a mean_n as_o he_o desire_v but_o this_o answer_n do_v not_o satisfy_v the_o miserable_a man._n still_o he_o pursue_v his_o former_a request_n nay_o father_n abraham_n say_v he_o but_o if_o one_o go_v unto_o they_o from_o the_o dead_a they_o will_v repent_v there_o be_v no_o resist_v such_o a_o argument_n as_o that_o if_o lazarus_n who_o they_o all_o have_v know_v live_v and_o now_o know_v to_o be_v dead_a shall_v rise_v again_o and_o personal_o come_v to_o they_o and_o tell_v they_o in_o what_o a_o sad_a condition_n he_o have_v see_v their_o friend_n and_o that_o they_o must_v all_o expect_v to_o run_v the_o same_o fortune_n if_o they_o do_v not_o change_v their_o course_n of_o live_v this_o will_v come_v close_o to_o they_o and_o be_v more_o convince_a than_o a_o hundred_o argument_n draw_v from_o the_o book_n of_o moses_n and_o the_o prophet_n which_o be_v write_v many_o age_n before_o their_o time_n and_o so_o consequent_o can_v not_o be_v presume_v to_o have_v so_o great_a a_o force_n as_o a_o argument_n draw_v from_o their_o own_o sense_n and_o experience_n to_o this_o reply_n of_o the_o rich_a man_n abraham_n peremptory_o rejoin_v in_o the_o word_n of_o the_o text._n if_o they_o hear_v not_o moses_n and_o the_o prophet_n neither_o will_v they_o be_v persuade_v though_o one_o rise_v from_o the_o dead_a to_o omit_v lesser_a matter_n that_o may_v be_v observe_v from_o these_o word_n the_o point_n which_o primary_o and_o most_o natural_o seem_v to_o be_v offer_v to_o our_o consideration_n from_o they_o be_v this_o that_o those_o who_o give_v no_o credit_n to_o a_o set_v stand_v revelation_n of_o god_n once_o well_o attest_v or_o be_v not_o thereby_o prevail_v upon_o to_o reform_v their_o evil_a manner_n neither_o in_o all_o probability_n will_v they_o be_v prevail_v upon_o though_o a_o particular_a miracle_n be_v wrought_v by_o god_n in_o order_n to_o their_o conversion_n as_o for_o instance_n though_o one_o shall_v rise_v from_o the_o dead_a and_o appear_v to_o they_o now_o to_o satisfy_v every_o one_o of_o the_o truth_n of_o this_o proposition_n it_o will_v be_v abundant_o sufficient_a to_o make_v out_o these_o two_o thing_n first_o that_o there_o be_v real_o more_o force_n and_o weight_n in_o a_o public_a stand_a revelation_n of_o god_n such_o as_o that_o be_v by_o moses_n and_o the_o prophet_n here_o mention_v to_o convince_v man_n or_o to_o reclaim_v they_o than_o there_o can_v be_v in_o a_o private_a miracle_n though_o i_o see_v it_o with_o my_o eye_n and_o second_o though_o god_n shall_v be_v please_v to_o work_v a_o miracle_n or_o to_o send_v a_o apparition_n for_o the_o conviction_n of_o a_o obstinate_a unbeliever_n or_o vicious_a person_n yet_o such_o a_o one_o will_v as_o easy_o find_v out_o shift_n and_o way_n to_o evade_v the_o force_n of_o such_o a_o argument_n and_o to_o hinder_v the_o effect_n it_o ought_v have_v upon_o he_o as_o he_o former_o do_v to_o put_v off_o the_o ordinary_a stand_a motive_n and_o argument_n of_o religion_n and_o consequent_o there_o be_v little_a probability_n that_o he_o who_o be_v not_o gain_v by_o the_o former_a will_v be_v wrought_v upon_o by_o the_o latter_a i_o begin_v with_o the_o first_o of_o these_o thing_n that_o there_o be_v real_o more_o force_n and_o weight_n in_o a_o public_a stand_a revelation_n of_o god_n to_o convince_v man_n or_o to_o reclaim_v they_o than_o there_o can_v be_v suppose_v to_o be_v in_o a_o private_a single_a miracle_n though_o a_o man_n see_v it_o with_o his_o eye_n or_o than_o there_o can_v be_v in_o a_o apparition_n from_o the_o dead_a if_o god_n shall_v think_v fit_a to_o vouchsafe_v such_o a_o thing_n in_o speak_v to_o this_o i_o mean_v not_o to_o concern_v myself_o or_o you_o with_o the_o revelation_n of_o moses_n and_o the_o prophet_n though_o that_o be_v the_o revelation_n which_o the_o text_n here_o speak_v of_o i_o think_v it_o will_v be_v more_o suitable_a and_o useful_a to_o we_o to_o consider_v
