power_n of_o god_n in_o the_o soul_n of_o a_o sinner_n with_o command_n to_o keep_v all_o in_o subjection_n with_o reference_n unto_o the_o judgement_n to_o come_v it_o will_v not_o betray_v its_o trust_n in_o believe_v every_o report_n of_o peace_n no_o but_o this_o it_o say_v and_o it_o speak_v in_o the_o name_n of_o god_n gild_n and_o punishment_n be_v inseparable_a twin_n if_o the_o soul_n sin_n god_n will_v judge_v what_o tell_v you_o i_o of_o forgiveness_n i_o know_v what_o my_o commission_n be_v and_o that_o i_o will_v abide_v by_o you_o shall_v not_o bring_v in_o a_o superior_a commander_n a_o cross_a principle_n into_o my_o trust_n for_o if_o this_o be_v so_o it_o seem_v i_o must_v let_v go_v my_o throne_n another_o lord_n must_v come_v in_o not_o know_v as_o yet_o how_o this_o whole_a business_n be_v compound_v in_o the_o blood_n of_o christ._n now_o who_o shall_v a_o man_n believe_v if_o not_o his_o own_o conscience_n which_o as_o it_o will_v not_o flatter_v he_o so_o it_o intend_v not_o to_o affright_v he_o but_o to_o speak_v the_o truth_n as_o the_o matter_n require_v conscience_n have_v two_o work_n in_o reference_n unto_o sin_n one_o to_o condemn_v the_o act_n of_o sin_n another_o to_o judge_v the_o person_n of_o the_o sinner_n both_o with_o reference_n to_o the_o judgement_n of_o god_n when_o forgiveness_n come_v it_o will_v sever_v and_o part_v these_o employment_n and_o take_v one_o of_o they_o out_o of_o the_o hand_n of_o conscience_n it_o will_v divide_v the_o spoil_n with_o this_o strong_a one_o it_o shall_v condemn_v the_o fact_n or_o every_o sin_n but_o it_o shall_v no_o more_o condemn_v the_o sinner_n the_o person_n of_o the_o sinner_n that_o shall_v be_v free_v from_o its_o sentence_n here_o conscience_n labour_v with_o all_o its_o might_n to_o keep_v its_o whole_a dominion_n and_o to_o keep_v out_o the_o power_n of_o forgiveness_n from_o be_v enthrone_v in_o the_o soul._n it_o will_v allow_v man_n to_o talk_v of_o it_o a_o easy_a work_n so_o to_o deal_v with_o it_o the_o apostle_n tell_v we_o that_o all_o the_o sacrifice_n of_o the_o law_n can_v not_o do_v it_o heb._n 10._o 2._o they_o can_v not_o bring_v a_o man_n into_o that_o estate_n wherein_o he_o shall_v have_v no_o more_o conscience_n of_o sin_n that_o be_v conscience_n condemn_v the_o person_n for_o conscience_n in_o a_o sense_n of_o sin_n and_o condemnation_n of_o it_o be_v never_o to_o be_v take_v away_o and_o this_o can_v be_v no_o otherwise_o do_v but_o by_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n as_o the_o apostle_n at_o large_a there_o declare_v it_o be_v then_o no_o easy_a thing_n to_o make_v a_o discovery_n of_o forgiveness_n unto_o a_o soul_n when_o the_o work_n and_o employment_n which_o conscience_n upon_o unquestionable_a ground_n challenge_v unto_o itself_o lie_v in_o opposition_n unto_o it_o hence_o be_v the_o soul_n great_a desire_n to_o establish_v its_o own_o righteousness_n whereby_o its_o natural_a principle_n may_v be_v preserve_v in_o their_o power_n let_v self-righteousness_n be_v enthrone_v and_o natural_a conscience_n desire_v no_o more_o it_o be_v satisfy_v and_o pacify_v the_o law_n it_o know_v and_o righteousness_n it_o know_v but_o as_o for_o forgiveness_n it_o say_v whence_o be_v it_o unto_o the_o utmost_a until_o christ_n perfect_v his_o conquest_n there_o be_v on_o this_o account_n secret_a struggle_n in_o the_o heart_n against_o free_a pardon_n in_o the_o gospel_n and_o fluctuation_n of_o mind_n and_o spirit_n about_o it_o yea_o hence_o be_v the_o doubt_n and_o fear_n of_o believer_n themselves_o they_o be_v nothing_o but_o the_o strive_n of_o conscience_n to_o keep_v its_o whole_a dominion_n to_o condemn_v the_o sinner_n as_o well_o as_o the_o sin_n more_n or_o less_o it_o keep_v up_o its_o pretension_n against_o the_o gospel_n whilst_o we_o live_v in_o this_o world_n it_o be_v a_o great_a work_n that_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n have_v to_o do_v upon_o the_o conscience_n of_o a_o sinner_n for_o whereas_o as_o it_o have_v be_v declare_v it_o have_v a_o power_n and_o claim_v a_o right_a to_o condemn_v both_o sin_n and_o sinner_n the_o one_o part_n of_o this_o its_o power_n be_v to_o be_v clear_v strengthen_v make_v more_o active_a vigorous_a and_o watchful_a the_o other_o to_o be_v take_v quite_o away_o it_o shall_v now_o see_v more_o sin_n than_o former_o more_o of_o the_o vileness_n of_o all_o sin_n than_o former_o and_o condemn_v they_o with_o more_o abborrency_n than_o ever_o upon_o more_o and_o more_o glorious_a account_n than_o former_o but_o it_o be_v also_o make_v to_o see_v a_o interposition_n between_o these_o sin_n and_o the_o person_n of_o the_o sinner_n who_o have_v commit_v they_o which_o be_v no_o small_a or_o ordinary_a work_n sin_n the_o law_n itself_o be_v inbred_a to_o they_o and_o all_o the_o faculty_n of_o the_o soul_n be_v at_o peace_n with_o it_o in_o subjection_n to_o it_o it_o be_v the_o bond_n and_o ligament_n of_o their_o union_n harmony_n and_o correspondency_n among_o themselves_o in_o all_o their_o moral_a act_n it_o give_v life_n order_n motion_n to_o they_o all_o now_o the_o gospel_n that_o come_v to_o be_v the_o manifestation_n of_o his_o authority_n holiness_n and_o righteousness_n but_o be_v this_o all_o be_v there_o not_o remunerative_a justice_n in_o god_n in_o a_o way_n of_o bounty_n be_v there_o not_o vindictive_a justice_n in_o he_o in_o a_o way_n of_o severity_n there_o be_v so_o and_o in_o the_o pursuit_n of_o the_o design_n mention_v they_o also_o be_v to_o be_v manifest_v or_o god_n will_v not_o be_v glorify_v in_o they_o this_o therefore_o he_o do_v also_o in_o the_o reward_n and_o punishment_n that_o he_o annex_v unto_o the_o law_n of_o obedience_n that_o he_o have_v prescribe_v to_o manifest_v his_o remunerative_a justice_n he_o promise_v a_o reward_n in_o a_o way_n of_o bounty_n which_o the_o angel_n that_o sin_v not_o be_v make_v partaker_n of_o and_o in_o the_o penalty_n threaten_v which_o sin_v angel_n and_o man_n incur_v he_o reveal_v his_o vindictive_a justice_n in_o a_o way_n of_o severity_n so_o be_v all_o these_o property_n of_o god_n make_v know_v by_o their_o effect_n and_o so_o be_v god_n glorify_v in_o they_o or_o on_o their_o account_n but_o after_o all_o this_o be_v there_o no_o other_o property_n of_o his_o nature_n divine_a excellency_n that_o can_v be_v separate_v from_o his_o be_v which_o by_o none_o of_o these_o mean_n be_v so_o much_o as_o once_o intimate_v to_o be_v in_o he_o it_o be_v evident_a that_o there_o be_v such_o be_v mercy_n grace_n patience_n long-suffering_a compassion_n and_o the_o like_a concern_v which_o observe_v 1._o that_o where_o there_o be_v no_o object_n of_o they_o they_o can_v be_v all_o thing_n nor_o by_o the_o law_n or_o its_o sanction_n nor_o by_o the_o law_n write_v in_o our_o heart_n for_o all_o these_o suppose_v no_o object_n of_o grace_n and_o mercy_n for_o it_o be_v sinner_n only_o and_o such_o as_o have_v make_v themselves_o miserable_a by_o sin_n that_o they_o can_v be_v exercise_v about_o 2._o there_o be_v no_o excellency_n of_o god_n nature_n that_o be_v more_o expressive_a of_o divine_a goodness_n loveliness_n and_o beauty_n than_o these_o be_v of_o mercy_n grace_n long-suffering_a and_o patience_n and_o therefore_o there_o be_v nothing_o that_o god_n so_o require_v our_o likeness_n unto_o he_o in_o our_o conformity_n unto_o his_o image_n as_o in_o these_o namely_o mercy_n grace_n and_o readiness_n to_o forgive_v and_o the_o contrary_a
