and_o surrender_n of_o a_o whole_a realm_n to_o the_o utter_a destruction_n thereof_o into_o the_o hand_n and_o rule_n of_o a_o stranger_n and_o by_o the_o delivery_n and_o give_v over_o of_o christian_a soul_n into_o the_o hand_n and_o rule_n of_o the_o antichristian_a pope_n and_o his_o wicked_a clergy_n and_o yet_o this_o discomfort_n come_v no_o further_o than_o our_o outward_a ear_n if_o asaph_n the_o author_n of_o this_o psalm_n be_v amongst_o we_o he_o will_v say_v his_o spirit_n will_v take_v no_o consolation_n and_o this_o be_v a_o horrible_a plague_n that_o weekly_o this_o psalm_n be_v read_v amongst_o the_o popish_a clergy_n and_o yet_o it_o bring_v their_o spirit_n to_o no_o sorrow_n nor_o feel_v of_o god_n displeasure_n wherefore_o our_o own_o experience_n teach_v that_o there_o be_v a_o inward_a and_o a_o outward_a discomfort_n in_o this_o psalm_n and_o in_o the_o rest_n of_o god_n most_o holy_a word_n the_o one_o penitent_a sinner_n feel_v and_o by_o it_o amend_v their_o life_n and_o the_o other_o some_o wicked_a man_n feel_v and_o yet_o despair_v but_o of_o the_o most_o part_n of_o the_o world_n it_o be_v not_o feel_v at_o all_o whereof_o come_v the_o contempt_n of_o god_n etc._n the_o love_n of_o ourselves_o and_o of_o the_o world_n and_o the_o loss_n of_o our_o sinful_a soul_n in_o the_o world_n to_o come_v let_v we_o therefore_o mark_v the_o sin_n that_o put_v man_n to_o such_o long_a pain_n for_o it_o and_o the_o next_o how_o gracious_a a_o god_n he_o be_v that_o will_v not_o yet_o suffer_v the_o discomfort_a spirit_n to_o despair_v in_o his_o discomfort_n as_o it_o follow_v marvellous_o in_o the_o next_o verse_n 3_o when_o i_o be_o in_o heaviness_n i_o will_v think_v upon_o god_n when_o my_o heart_n be_v vex_v i_o will_v complain_v sela._n while_o asaph_n be_v thus_o trouble_v in_o spirit_n he_o remember_v the_o lord_n alone_o and_o call_v unto_o he_o for_o help_v first_o out_o of_o this_o verse_n it_o be_v to_o be_v consider_v that_o nothing_o can_v quiet_v the_o comfortless_a spirit_n but_o god_n alone_o but_o for_o as_o much_o as_o it_o seem_v by_o the_o part_n of_o this_o psalm_n that_o follow_v that_o this_o verse_n come_v in_o by_o occasion_n rather_o than_o to_o show_v a_o full_a remedy_n for_o the_o prophets_n trouble_n i_o will_v not_o write_v what_o i_o think_v thereof_o but_o defer_v the_o remedy_n against_o trouble_n to_o such_o other_o verse_n as_o follow_v because_o the_o prophet_n say_v before_o that_o his_o spirit_n can_v take_v no_o consolation_n and_o that_o a_o great_a many_o of_o trouble_n follow_v as_o the_o psalm_n declare_v it_o show_v that_o he_o be_v not_o able_a to_o bear_v the_o trouble_n of_o the_o mind_n alone_o without_o the_o invocation_n and_o help_n of_o god_n wherefore_o before_o he_o express_v by_o write_v all_o his_o trouble_n he_o write_v also_o how_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o they_o he_o do_v remember_v and_o put_v his_o trust_n in_o the_o lord_n out_o of_o this_o we_o learn_v how_o necessary_a it_o be_v

but_o rather_o further_v it_o if_o he_o have_v wit_v wherein_o true_o and_o very_o felicity_n have_v consist_v as_o you_o may_v see_v hereafter_o how_o he_o come_v to_o the_o knowledge_n of_o it_o wherewith_o the_o ungodly_a be_v endue_v in_o this_o life_n be_v not_o the_o thing_n that_o can_v make_v any_o man_n bless_v or_o curse_v before_o god_n therefore_o no_o more_o to_o be_v care_v for_o then_o need_n be_v to_o have_v they_o if_o god_n will_v if_o not_o to_o lack_v they_o to_o have_v they_o with_o god_n grace_n well_o to_o use_v they_o or_o else_o to_o pray_v to_o lack_v they_o lest_o be_v great_a pain_n than_o the_o mortal_a death_n of_o the_o body_n if_o this_o word_n ever_o be_v take_v for_o a_o certain_a time_n and_o the_o life_n of_o man_n then_o mean_v the_o prophet_n thus_o into_o thy_o hand_n i_o commend_v my_o spirit_n 19_o 14._o it_o be_v write_v that_o we_o must_v enter_v into_o heaven_n by_o many_o trouble_n great_a now_o of_o all_o trouble_n the_o trouble_n of_o the_o mind_n and_o of_o the_o spirit_n be_v the_o great_a who_o then_o can_v enter_v into_o heaven_n without_o such_o trouble_n doubtless_o no_o man_n for_o the_o judgement_n of_o god_n must_v begin_v at_o his_o house_n as_o saint_z pater_fw-la say_v that_o be_v to_o say_v 4._o none_o shall_v in_o this_o life_n more_o feel_v god_n displeasure_n for_o sin_n in_o the_o spirit_n 12._o nor_o suffer_v more_o adversity_n in_o the_o body_n 12._o than_o such_o as_o be_v of_o god_n own_o household_n and_o very_o electe_v wherefore_o we_o be_v admonish_v in_o the_o trouble_n and_o sorrow_n that_o this_o prophet_n asaph_n sustain_v in_o his_o soul_n that_o can_v not_o rest_v and_o in_o his_o body_n that_o can_v not_o sleep_v nor_o speak_v that_o good_a man_n be_v not_o free_a from_o adversity_n us._n and_o that_o adversity_n be_v they_o never_o so_o great_a shall_v not_o separate_v man_n from_o god_n for_o ever_o but_o for_o a_o time_n he_o punish_v sin_n and_o hide_v the_o consolation_n of_o god_n from_o we_o as_o the_o scripture_n say_v 54._o for_o a_o time_n a_o little_a while_o i_o have_v forsake_v thou_o but_o i_o will_v gather_v thou_o together_o in_o wonderful_a mercy_n in_o a_o short_a time_n of_o my_o wrath_n i_o hide_v my_o face_n a_o while_n from_o thou_o but_o i_o will_v have_v mercy_n upon_o thou_o for_o ever_o say_v the_o lord_n thy_o redeemer_n all_o man_n that_o shall_v profitable_o know_v and_o feel_v the_o certainty_n of_o god_n promise_n in_o this_o life_n and_o enjoy_v they_o in_o the_o life_n to_o come_v shall_v be_v trouble_v with_o some_o pain_n of_o doubtfulness_n of_o they_o 3._o before_o he_o come_v to_o perfection_n for_o as_o by_o sin_n death_n enter_v into_o the_o flesh_n 5._o and_o also_o the_o flesh_n be_v subject_a unto_o sickness_n and_o adversity_n so_o be_v there_o enter_v into_o the_o soul_n and_o power_n thereof_o 8._o by_o reason_n of_o sin_n great_a imperfection_n as_o the_o mind_n of_o all_o man_n be_v burden_v with_o ignorance_n 2._o the_o heart_n with_o contumacy_n 53._o and_o the_o will_n with_o frowardness_n so_o that_o as_o they_o be_v before_o regeneration_n and_o knowledge_n of_o god_n in_o all_o godly_a matter_n stark_o blind_a very_o obstinate_a and_o natural_o altogether_o froward_a even_o so_o after_o regeneration_n and_o the_o knowledge_n of_o god_n they_o continual_o resist_v and_o fight_v against_o the_o spirit_n not_o only_o of_o man_n in_o who_o these_o power_n dwell_v 8._o but_o also_o against_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n 3._o that_o teach_v and_o lead_v the_o spirit_n of_o man_n to_o eternal_a salvation_n so_o that_o it_o be_v not_o man_n that_o be_v able_a to_o overcome_v the_o wickedness_n of_o his_o own_o soul_n 2._o and_o therefore_o see_v life_n through_o grace_n dwell_v in_o a_o body_n natural_o full_a of_o sin_n saint_n paul_n say_v 2._o i_o do_v live_v yet_o not_o i_o but_o christ_n live_v in_o i_o so_o this_o prophet_n asaphe_n seem_v in_o word_n to_o be_v stark_o dead_a from_o grace_n 77._o but_o it_o be_v not_o for_o ever_o for_o he_o feel_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n that_o tell_v he_o that_o such_o heavy_a and_o ungodly_a thought_n of_o his_o spirit_n come_v of_o his_o own_o infirmity_n and_o that_o god_n right_a hand_n can_v alter_v and_o change_v they_o and_o this_o be_v the_o difference_n between_o the_o affliction_n of_o the_o godly_a and_o ungodly_a as_o it_o be_v
