occasion_n to_o exhort_v all_o your_o heart_n to_o a_o sure_a confidence_n in_o the_o lord_n because_o his_o wrath_n shall_v never_o touch_v those_o which_o put_v their_o trust_n in_o he_o it_o be_v say_v psal_n 99_o 4._o that_o moses_n and_o aaron_n and_o samuel_n put_v their_o trust_n in_o god_n and_o he_o deliver_v they_o this_o be_v such_o a_o trust_n as_o be_v exercise_v with_o all_o christian_a virtue_n the_o which_o you_o must_v join_v with_o they_o or_o else_o you_o can_v enjoy_v it_o forsake_v yourselves_o embrace_v the_o lord_n love_v not_o the_o world_n and_o desire_v christ_n kingdom_n and_o then_o you_o trust_v in_o the_o lord_n confirm_v your_o heart_n with_o patience_n beautify_v your_o mind_n with_o knowledge_n reform_v your_o affection_n by_o repentance_n and_o amend_v your_o life_n by_o the_o whole_a gospel_n of_o god_n and_o then_o shall_v the_o lord_n say_v you_o have_v trust_v in_o he_o oh_o then_o bless_v shall_v you_o be_v for_o although_o the_o world_n be_v drown_v you_o shall_v be_v save_v although_o the_o city_n be_v burn_v you_o shall_v be_v deliver_v although_o the_o people_n be_v captivate_v you_o shall_v be_v enlarge_v and_o although_o the_o earth_n be_v curse_v yet_o you_o shall_v be_v bless_v if_o sickness_n wear_v thy_o body_n and_o anguish_n vex_v thy_o soul_n and_o trouble_n oppress_v thy_o life_n and_o loss_n catch_v away_o thy_o good_n and_o enemy_n spoil_v thy_o child_n and_o death_n do_v end_v thy_o day_n yet_o shall_v not_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n consume_v thy_o joy_n what_o will_v thou_o have_v more_o if_o god_n of_o god_n but_o in_o joy_n our_o day_n we_o may_v almost_o complain_v as_o this_o prophet_n do_v that_o joy_n be_v part_v from_o the_o house_n of_o our_o god_n man_n come_v almost_o as_o willing_o to_o the_o church_n as_o some_o go_v to_o execution_n and_o tarry_v as_o joyful_o before_o the_o preacher_n to_o hear_v the_o sermon_n as_o other_o do_v before_o the_o judge_n to_o hear_v the_o sentence_n when_o we_o be_v at_o our_o prayer_n they_o be_v at_o their_o book_n when_o we_o be_v at_o our_o preach_n they_o be_v at_o their_o sleep_n when_o we_o be_v at_o our_o psalm_n they_o be_v in_o the_o tavern_n marvel_v you_o not_o to_o see_v the_o joy_n of_o these_o man_n in_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n unto_o who_o the_o church_n be_v a_o jail_n the_o minister_n be_v a_o keeper_n the_o lord_n be_v a_o judge_n themselves_o be_v the_o prisoner_n and_o their_o zeal_n be_v as_o joyful_a to_o they_o as_o little_a ease_n yet_o for_o all_o this_o we_o will_v rejoice_v in_o the_o lord_n our_o god_n and_o account_v one_o day_n spend_v in_o his_o court_n better_a than_o a_o thousand_o spend_v else_o where_o and_o as_o david_n rejoice_v to_o see_v other_o man_n go_v so_o will_v we_o rejoice_v when_o our_o number_n be_v increase_v when_o our_o voice_n be_v advance_v and_o our_o lord_n jesus_n magnify_v the_o 1._o reason_n of_o this_o doctrine_n be_v these_o first_o because_o this_o joy_n in_o the_o service_n of_o god_n be_v a_o token_n of_o the_o presence_n of_o god_n his_o spirit_n in_o the_o heart_n of_o man_n rom._n 14._o 17._o so_o on_o the_o other_o side_n when_o man_n be_v lumpish_a and_o heavy_a in_o this_o worship_n and_o heavenly_a business_n it_o be_v a_o token_n they_o like_v not_o the_o matter_n but_o be_v hinder_v and_o blind_v by_o the_o spirit_n of_o malice_n shall_v we_o then_o say_v that_o they_o be_v all_o give_v to_o the_o devil_n who_o have_v not_o be_v baptize_v into_o the_o lord_n spirit_n and_o possess_v with_o a_o delight_n in_o the_o lord_n service_n then_o must_v we_o say_v that_o all_o hard_a heart_a miser_n wicked_a mind_a ruffian_n fickle_a brain_a yoongling_n and_o wind-wavering_a woman_n which_o have_v rather_o be_v play_v with_o their_o love_n or_o their_o child_n or_o else_o be_v disport_v in_o bravery_n and_o wantonness_n or_o be_v mumble_v a_o few_o pater-noster_n of_o old_a angel_n or_o new_o stuff_v barn_n then_o yield_v their_o ear_n their_o hart_n their_o soul_n their_o mind_n and_o their_o whole_a man_n to_o the_o lord_n most_o
