last_o of_o these_o thus_o expound_v the_o word_n he_o say_v that_o now_o the_o wicked_a bear_n rule_n over_o you_o but_o in_o that_o time_n you_o shall_v trample_v they_o under_o the_o sole_n of_o your_o foot_n what_o he_o say_v ash_n be_v a_o proverbial_a or_o comparative_a expression_n because_o he_o have_v before_o say_v that_o the_o day_n that_o shall_v come_v shall_v burn_v they_o up_o it_o appear_v then_o that_o he_o do_v not_o think_v that_o ash_n here_o ought_v literal_o to_o be_v mean_v but_o to_o denote_v the_o vileness_n and_o contemptibleness_n of_o their_o condition_n neither_o find_v we_o any_o mention_n of_o it_o in_o r._n tanchum_n who_o though_o he_o differ_v from_o what_o we_o follow_v in_o that_o he_o look_v on_o the_o thing_n speak_v as_o not_o yet_o fulfil_v but_o to_o come_v yet_o afford_v we_o word_n which_o we_o may_v well_o make_v use_n of_o in_o our_o way_n which_o though_o he_o put_v at_o the_o end_n of_o the_o chapter_n yet_o may_v here_o convenient_o be_v put_v as_o have_v respect_n to_o what_o have_v be_v say_v already_o more_o than_o to_o what_o follow_v and_o they_o thus_o sound_a consider_v say_v he_o the_o great_a wisdom_n in_o the_o expression_n of_o the_o prophetical_a revelation_n however_o it_o be_v to_o be_v understand_v that_o whereas_o there_o be_v for_o the_o righteous_a a_o reward_n in_o this_o world_n and_o in_o the_o world_n to_o come_v and_o for_o the_o wicked_a on_o the_o contrary_a punishment_n in_o this_o world_n and_o in_o the_o world_n to_o come_v these_o passage_n of_o scripture_n be_v fit_v to_o both_o intention_n at_o once_o according_a to_o a_o outward_a or_o literal_a sense_n and_o a_o inward_a meaning_n as_o to_o the_o outward_a meaning_n it_o express_v what_o shall_v be_v in_o the_o day_n of_o messiah_n to_o wit_n that_o punishment_n shall_v then_o encompass_v the_o wicked_a and_o they_o shall_v be_v consume_v together_o and_o be_v burn_v up_o as_o he_o say_v behold_v the_o day_n come_v burn_v as_o a_o oven_n but_o as_o for_o the_o righteous_a of_o israel_n the_o light_n of_o divine_a providence_n shall_v arise_v upon_o they_o and_o they_o shall_v be_v heal_v by_o the_o manifestation_n of_o truth_n from_o that_o grief_n which_o they_o sustain_v by_o reason_n of_o their_o be_v hide_v from_o they_o and_o that_o be_v it_o which_o he_o say_v and_o there_o shall_v arise_v to_o you_o that_o fear_v my_o name_n the_o sun_n of_o righteousness_n and_o heal_v in_o his_o wing_n etc._n etc._n but_o as_o to_o the_o inward_a meaning_n it_o signify_v as_o to_o those_o that_o fear_v the_o lord_n and_o think_v on_o his_o name_n viz._n which_o sincere_o do_v so_o after_o their_o knowledge_n of_o he_o and_o walk_v in_o his_o way_n that_o there_o shall_v be_v to_o they_o a_o everlasting_a duration_n in_o his_o presence_n which_o be_v that_o write_n down_o of_o their_o righteousness_n in_o a_o book_n of_o remembrance_n before_o he_o and_o they_o shall_v be_v a_o peculiar_a to_o he_o among_o mankind_n which_o be_v what_o he_o say_v and_o they_o shall_v be_v to_o i_o say_v the_o lord_n of_o host_n in_o the_o day_n which_o i_o shall_v make_v or_o when_o i_o shall_v do_v this_o a_o peculiar_a etc._n etc._n but_o as_o for_o the_o wicked_a to_o they_o shall_v the_o day_n come_v burn_v as_o a_o oven_n which_o be_v the_o punishment_n of_o the_o world_n to_o come_v according_o as_o our_o wise_a man_n have_v declare_v as_o likewise_o what_o be_v say_v and_o the_o day_n that_o come_v shall_v burn_v they_o up_o and_o by_o day_n day_n he_o express_v both_o happiness_n and_o misery_n for_o two_o different_a meaning_n or_o reason_n 1._o happiness_n in_o regard_n of_o the_o light_n which_o be_v find_v in_o the_o day_n after_o the_o darkness_n of_o the_o night_n like_o that_o clearness_n of_o apprehension_n that_o shall_v accrue_v to_o the_o perfect_v soul_n after_o its_o separation_n from_o gross_a matter_n i._n e._n the_o matter_n of_o the_o body_n then_o misery_n by_o reason_n of_o extreme_a heat_n that_o be_v find_v in_o the_o day_n proportionable_a to_o the_o grievousness_n of_o that_o condition_n and_o the_o extremity_n of_o the_o pain_n thereof_o as_o he_o likewise_o compare_v it_o to_o fire_n say_v burn_v like_o a_o oven_n and_o because_o the_o wicked_a shall_v be_v burn_v with_o that_o fire_n whereas_o the_o degree_n of_o the_o righteous_a shall_v be_v exalt_v he_o compare_v they_o also_o to_o ash_n under_o their_o foot_n say_v and_o you_o shall_v tread_v down_o the_o wicked_a for_o they_o shall_v be_v ash_n under_o the_o sole_n of_o your_o foot_n and_o he_o explain_v his_o compare_v happiness_n to_o light_n in_o what_o he_o say_v and_o there_o shall_v arise_v to_o you_o that_o fear_v my_o name_n the_o sun_n of_o righteousness_n etc._n etc._n and_o that_o be_v a_o intellectual_a light_n which_o shall_v accrue_v by_o the_o right_a disposition_n of_o the_o soul_n and_o the_o rectification_n of_o the_o deed_n by_o the_o clearness_n of_o the_o shine_a of_o which_o the_o soul_n shall_v find_v rest_n and_o be_v heal_v from_o the_o pain_n of_o the_o distraction_n of_o the_o sense_n and_o their_o disturbance_n or_o struggle_v or_o contrary_a motion_n that_o be_v it_o which_o he_o say_v with_o heal_v in_o his_o wing_n and_o to_o like_o purpose_n say_v isaiah_n c._n lviii_o 8_o then_o shall_v thy_o light_n break_v forth_o as_o the_o morning_n and_o thy_o health_n shall_v spring_v forth_o speedy_o and_o thy_o righteousness_n shall_v go_v before_o thou_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o lord_n shall_v be_v thy_o he_o and_o that_o may_v be_v make_v good_a to_o we_o which_o he_o say_v isaiah_n xxxv_o 3_o 4._o strengthen_v you_o the_o weak_a hand_n and_o confirm_v the_o feeble_a knee_n say_v to_o they_o that_o be_v of_o a_o fearful_a heart_n be_v strong_a fear_v not_o behold_v your_o god_n will_v come_v with_o vengeance_n etc._n etc._n these_o be_v his_o word_n which_o if_o opportunity_n serve_v we_o
