minister_n in_o this_o place_n be_v necessary_a from_o the_o consideration_n of_o the_o scope_n and_o other_o circumstance_n of_o the_o text_n whatever_o may_v be_v say_v from_o other_o place_n for_o 1._o we_o can_v see_v how_o otherways_o these_o epistle_n can_v be_v profitable_o expound_v and_o apply_v with_o relation_n to_o the_o state_n of_o these_o particular_a church_n except_o this_o be_v as_o be_v hint_v at_o the_o entry_n of_o this_o question_n 2._o it_o be_v certain_a that_o our_o lord_n purpose_n be_v to_o point_v out_o the_o condition_n of_o the_o ordinary_a minister_n of_o the_o church_n for_o which_o cause_n he_o call_v himself_o a_o elder_a and_o see_v also_o he_o do_v never_o mention_v pre-eminence_n in_o one_o officer_n above_o another_o but_o in_o the_o person_n of_o diotrephes_n and_o that_o with_o indignation_n as_o may_v be_v see_v in_o his_o second_o and_o three_o epistle_n and_o last_o see_v he_o never_o mention_v bishop_n or_o any_o other_o teaching-officer_n but_o presbyter_n in_o his_o doctrine_n and_o write_n be_v it_o probable_a that_o under_o this_o figurative_a stile_n in_o a_o prophetical_a book_n any_o other_o officer_n than_o a_o presbyter_n especial_o such_o as_o shall_v have_v pre-eminence_n over_o his_o brethren_n shall_v be_v understand_v and_o upon_o this_o place_n alone_o be_v ground_v it_o be_v ever_o most_o safe_a in_o such_o obscure_a figurative_a place_n to_o expound_v the_o same_o by_o what_o be_v more_o clear_a and_o it_o will_v seem_v strange_a that_o the_o institution_n of_o presbyter_n yea_o and_o of_o deacon_n with_o their_o qualification_n etc._n etc._n shall_v be_v so_o clear_a and_o express_v in_o the_o word_n and_o that_o yet_o this_o superior_a officer_n shall_v be_v so_o dark_o point_v at_o and_o there_o be_v no_o qualification_n direction_n or_o rule_n give_v concern_v he_o but_o what_o be_v to_o be_v borrow_v from_o the_o inferior_a pastor_n 5._o it_o will_v also_o upon_o this_o suppofition_n be_v difficult_a to_o find_v out_o who_o these_o particular_a bishop_n can_v be_v for_o 1._o some_o make_v timothy_n to_o be_v dead_a and_o john_n now_o to_o be_v bishop_n of_o ephesus_n and_o can_v john_n himself_o write_v to_o himself_o be_v at_o that_o time_n not_o in_o ephesus_n 2._o if_o we_o take_v timothy_n to_o be_v the_o angel_n mention_v will_v it_o be_v charitable_a to_o make_v out_o by_o many_o other_o to_o who_o we_o refer_v the_o reader_n and_o in_o particular_a to_o that_o accurate_a piece_v of_o the_o minister_n of_o the_o province_n of_o london_n call_v ius_n
