which_o they_o divide_v into_o two_o sort_n some_o conformist_n to_o who_o the_o book_n they_o say_v be_v a_o burden_n some_o nonconformist_n which_o for_o this_o book_n be_v sufferer_n i_o answer_v the_o first_o be_v not_o hurt_v by_o the_o book_n but_o by_o their_o own_o erroneous_a conscience_n which_o make_v that_o a_o burden_n to_o they_o which_o of_o itself_o be_v no_o such_o thing_n for_o the_o other_o which_o be_v sufferer_n for_o their_o disobedience_n it_o be_v either_o their_o weakness_n or_o their_o obstinacy_n which_o cause_v they_o to_o suffer_v and_o not_o the_o common_a prayer-book_n which_o be_v at_o the_o most_o but_o a_o remote_a causa_fw-la sine_fw-la qua_fw-la non_fw-la of_o their_o suffering_n if_o they_o suffer_v only_o for_o refuse_v that_o else_o it_o be_v not_o so_o much_o and_o i_o believe_v there_o be_v few_o sufferer_n if_o any_o at_o all_o which_o have_v have_v no_o fault_n but_o nonconformity_n to_o the_o book_n lay_v to_o their_o charge_n this_o for_o the_o minister_n then_o be_v nothing_o second_o they_o tell_v we_o the_o ordinance_n suffer_v by_o this_o book_n namely_o preach_v be_v hinder_v by_o it_o but_o this_o experience_n show_v to_o untolerable_a tediousness_n thereof_o make_v many_o even_o shun_v they_o rather_o than_o frequent_v they_o neither_o do_v any_o of_o we_o esteem_n more_o of_o the_o service-book_n as_o they_o accuse_v we_o then_o of_o preach_v in_o general_a but_o to_o esteem_v more_o of_o the_o set_a prayer_n make_v by_o the_o most_o judicious_a father_n and_o by_o law_n establish_v and_o of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n true_o and_o plain_o read_v then_o of_o such_o ex_fw-la tempore_fw-la prayer_n and_o sermon_n as_o many_o of_o the_o enemy_n of_o the_o common_a prayer-book_n make_v sometime_o no_o man_n that_o understand_v himself_o and_o the_o word_n of_o god_n can_v possible_o forbid_v without_o manifest_a impiety_n and_o that_o such_o prayer_n and_o sermon_n be_v not_o more_o proper_o fardel_n of_o man_n device_n than_o the_o liturgy_n which_o have_v so_o much_o of_o the_o sincere_a word_n of_o god_n in_o it_o no_o reasonable_a man_n can_v say_v then_o for_o those_o word_n in_o the_o canon_n which_o they_o allege_v of_o divine_a service_n and_o sermon_n they_o do_v not_o in_o the_o least_o sort_n make_v preach_v no_o part_n of_o or_o a_o lesser_a part_n of_o god_n service_n then_o read_v and_o pray_v but_o speak_v in_o that_o canon_n for_o the_o order_n of_o the_o people_n they_o speak_v in_o the_o people_n language_n wherein_o it_o be_v usual_a to_o say_v service_n and_o sermon_n so_o that_o have_v they_o say_v only_o divine_a service_n and_o not_o add_v sermon_n some_o will_v have_v exclude_v the_o sermon_n from_o be_v understand_v in_o the_o canon_n but_o the_o canon_n to_o show_v that_o we_o esteem_v of_o sermon_n as_o well_o as_o of_o service_n appoint_v the_o same_o reverence_n to_o be_v use_v in_o the_o one_o that_o be_v in_o the_o other_o this_o cavil_n therefore_o be_v most_o idle_a three_o they_o speak_v of_o evil_a effect_n of_o our_o liturgy_n upon_o the_o people_n and_o herein_o first_o they_o tell_v we_o of_o a_o evil_a effect_n the_o book_n have_v upon_o the_o law_n because_o some_o have_v be_v punish_v for_o not_o read_v the_o book_n contrary_a to_o law_n which_o i_o answer_v to_o thus_o if_o this_o be_v true_a it_o be_v mere_o accidental_a to_o the_o book_n and_o partly_o the_o fault_n of_o disobedient_a man_n and_o partly_o of_o unjust_a judge_n but_o if_o the_o act_n for_o the_o observe_v that_o book_n be_v well_o look_v into_o they_o contain_v or_o any_o part_n thereof_o and_o shall_v be_v convict_v thereof_o etc._n etc._n shall_v forfeit_v all_o his_o spiritual_a promotion_n come_v or_o arise_v in_o one_o whole_a year_n how_o entreat_v you_o to_o pluck_v up_o the_o plant_n of_o the_o service-book_n which_o god_n never_o set_v what_o be_v all_o this_o but_o according_a to_o their_o censure_n of_o our_o litany_n upon_o those_o word_n by_o thy_o agony_n etc._n etc._n but_o a_o mere_a conjure_n for_o here_o they_o pray_v as_o we_o there_o by_o several_a motive_n by_o the_o love_n you_o bear_v to_o the_o lord_n jesus_n by_o the_o love_n you_o bear_v to_o the_o purity_n of_o his_o worship_n etc._n etc._n yet_o these_o thing_n here_o they_o count_v no_o conjure_n no_o more_o do_v i_o but_o let_v i_o ask_v they_o what_o equity_n there_o can_v be_v in_o condemn_v that_o in_o we_o which_o they_o allow_v in_o themselves_o here_o be_v a_o poor_a virgin_n shrewd_o vitiate_v by_o they_o alas_o poor_a mother_n wherein_o they_o divide_v the_o covenant_n into_o three_o part_n 1._o for_o the_o defence_n of_o religion_n the_o king_n and_o state_n 2._o for_o oppose_a popery_n and_o popish_a innovation_n 3._o and_o so_o concern_v particular_n be_v ready_a to_o fall_v together_o by_o the_o ear_n among_o themselves_o though_o all_o present_o ready_a to_o join_v against_o what_o they_o call_v the_o common_a
