resemblance_n to_o the_o mass_n than_o the_o people_n delight_n which_o be_v now_o become_v the_o people_n hate_n shall_v for_o the_o same_o resemblance_n according_a to_o the_o same_o rule_n of_o reason_n be_v now_o take_v away_o we_o commend_v our_o forefather_n for_o do_v pious_o and_o wise_o and_o yet_o we_o will_v not_o imitate_v they_o they_o endeavour_v to_o please_v and_o gain_v the_o people_n we_o will_v needs_o displease_v and_o lose_v they_o certain_o we_o can_v do_v our_o forefather_n a_o great_a honour_n then_o to_o observe_v their_o rule_n of_o reason_n to_o confirm_v to_o desire_v what_o be_v establish_v may_v be_v general_o observe_v and_o not_o a_o liberty_n leave_v as_o some_o do_v propose_v to_o add_v or_o detract_v ceremony_n or_o prayer_n according_a to_o the_o various_a opinion_n and_o humour_n of_o man_n for_o certain_o this_o will_v cause_v great_a faction_n and_o division_n those_o that_o be_v for_o ceremony_n will_v run_v from_o their_o own_o church_n to_o other_o where_o they_o be_v use_v other_o to_o some_o fine_a fancy_a prayer_n of_o such_o as_o they_o approve_v of_o and_o thus_o some_o church_n will_v be_v throng_v other_o desert_v and_o no_o account_n can_v be_v take_v by_o the_o pastor_n of_o this_o congregation_n atheist_n also_o and_o papist_n under_o pretence_n of_o frequent_v other_o church_n will_v abandon_v all_o this_o course_n say_v you_o will_v bring_v but_o few_o into_o the_o church_n and_o perchance_o drive_v some_o out_o who_o have_v be_v long_o breed_v up_o to_o such_o and_o such_o ceremony_n will_v have_v small_a devotion_n to_o frequent_v the_o church_n if_o all_o or_o many_o be_v abolish_v to_o this_o i_o answer_v that_o certain_o his_o religion_n be_v vain_a that_o will_v abandon_v the_o substance_n for_o want_v of_o the_o ceremony_n which_o he_o acknowledge_v to_o be_v no_o way_n necessary_a but_o only_o more_o satisfaction_n to_o his_o mind_n sure_o a_o very_a ignorant_a mind_n who_o have_v not_o learn_v that_o obedience_n be_v better_a than_o sacrifice_n and_o whole_a burn_a offering_n and_o sure_o a_o very_a uncharitable_a mind_n who_o will_v not_o leave_v ninety_o and_o nine_o unnecessary_a ceremony_n to_o bring_v one_o sinful_a stray_a sheep_n into_o the_o congregation_n and_o convert_v he_o from_o the_o error_n of_o his_o nonconforming_a way_n i_o profess_v i_o be_o amaze_v to_o see_v how_o many_o man_n of_o a_o very_a good_a sense_n in_o most_o thing_n so_o zealous_o erroneous_a in_o this_o business_n of_o religion_n see_v the_o
people_n and_o honour_n to_o the_o church_n than_o now_o they_o be_v i_o most_o humble_o beseech_v all_o in_o the_o spirit_n of_o meekness_n and_o humility_n to_o consider_v these_o thing_n lay_v aside_o the_o veil_n of_o pomp_n and_o vanity_n which_o blind_v their_o eye_n and_o hinder_v they_o from_o discover_v the_o naked_a truth_n and_o simplicity_n of_o the_o gospel_n i_o call_v the_o searcher_n of_o all_o heart_n to_o witness_v i_o wish_v unto_o all_o clergyman_n both_o double_a honour_n and_o double_a maintenance_n also_o i_o can_v think_v any_o thing_n too_o much_o for_o those_o who_o conscientious_o labour_v in_o the_o ministry_n but_o see_v as_o i_o say_v there_o be_v no_o hope_n of_o regain_n the_o church_n maintenance_n we_o in_o prudence_n shall_v seek_v out_o such_o help_n as_o may_v be_v have_v and_o true_o i_o have_v great_a reason_n to_o hope_n that_o be_v this_o rule_n observe_v of_o put_v only_o grave_a discreet_a and_o conscientious_a person_n into_o the_o ministry_n whether_o university_n man_n or_o not_o it_o matter_n not_o so_o as_o full_o instruct_v in_o the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o gospel_n by_o sound_a commentator_n many_o person_n of_o good_a rank_n and_o estate_n will_v think_v it_o no_o dishonour_n but_o rather_o a_o high_a honour_n to_o enter_v into_o it_o as_o they_o do_v in_o the_o primitive_a time_n julian_n near_o relate_v to_o the_o roman_a emperor_n and_o afterward_o emperor_n himself_o think_v it_o a_o honour_n to_o be_v admit_v a_o reader_n one_o of_o the_o low_a office_n in_o the_o church_n and_o for_o the_o better_a speculation_n and_o the_o like_a set_v down_o only_o the_o plain_a and_o most_o obvious_a sense_n in_o matter_n of_o faith_n and_o good_a life_n necessary_a to_o salvation_n such_o a_o book_n to_o be_v set_v forth_o by_o authority_n with_o a_o command_n that_o no_o man_n in_o sermon_n exhortation_n or_o catechise_n teach_v any_o thing_n contrary_a to_o it_o and_o what_o ever_o learning_n primitive_a time_n homily_n under_o another_o name_n be_v read_v in_o the_o church_n that_o be_v the_o epistle_n of_o apostolic_a godly_a bishop_n write_v to_o other_o church_n be_v read_v in_o the_o congregation_n with_o great_a veneration_n shall_v the_o name_n of_o epistle_n make_v the_o one_o applaud_v the_o name_n of_o homily_n make_v the_o other_o reproach_v the_o content_n and_o the_o intent_n be_v the_o same_o to_o stir_v up_o the_o people_n to_o godliness_n if_o this_o will_v satisfy_v let_v the_o homily_n be_v style_v epistle_n to_o such_o or_o such_o a_o church_n and_o then_o
