cannon_n than_o to_o the_o holy_a scripture_n say_v that_o they_o be_v the_o determination_n of_o the_o holy_a mother_n church_n whereunto_o they_o ought_v to_o stick_v because_o the_o scripture_n be_v to_o obscure_v and_o may_v be_v take_v both_o way_n but_o indeed_o it_o be_v nothing_o so_o for_o the_o scripture_n have_v but_o one_o sense_n which_o be_v easy_a to_o be_v find_v out_o of_o a_o man_n that_o be_v willing_a to_o learn_v by_o confer_v one_o text_n with_o another_o but_o the_o cannon_n be_v in_o many_o case_n quite_o contrary_a one_o to_o another_o i_o know_v full_a well_o that_o too_o shift_v off_o these_o contrariety_n the_o school_n man_n say_v that_o we_o must_v always_o hold_v we_o to_o those_o that_o be_v last_o make_v but_o i_o answer_v they_o that_o that_o be_v asmuch_o to_o say_v as_o we_o must_v always_o hold_v we_o to_o the_o worst_a for_o every_o man_n of_o sound_a judgement_n may_v always_o easy_o perceive_v that_o the_o ancient_a cannon_n be_v better_a search_v the_o understanding_n of_o the_o obscure_a text_n of_o the_o scripture_n in_o the_o scripture_n itself_o and_o those_o which_o seek_v it_o elsewhere_o be_v the_o very_a schoolmaster_n of_o error_n these_o be_v the_o very_a word_n of_o a_o cannon_n what_o be_v more_o ungodly_a 3_o than_o to_o hold_v a_o ungodly_a doctrine_n and_o not_o to_o believe_v those_o that_o be_v most_o wise_a and_o learned_a but_o all_o such_o do_v fall_v into_o this_o kind_n of_o ignorance_n as_o make_v not_o their_o recourse_n to_o the_o word_n of_o the_o prophet_n to_o the_o write_n of_o the_o apostle_n and_o to_o the_o authority_n of_o the_o evangelist_n to_o learn_v the_o knowledge_n of_o the_o truth_n in_o any_o obscure_a point_n but_o will_v needs_o trust_v to_o their_o own_o wit_n and_o therefore_o they_o become_v schoolmaster_n of_o error_n because_o they_o listen_v not_o to_o be_v disciple_n of_o the_o truth_n which_o cannon_n in_o very_a deed_n do_v deep_o in_o few_o word_n condemn_v the_o scholedevine_v that_o make_v more_o account_n of_o the_o authority_n of_o the_o cannon_n and_o doctor_n of_o the_o church_n than_o of_o the_o very_a text_n of_o the_o scripture_n which_o they_o account_n to_o be_v to_o obscure_v and_o true_a it_o be_v that_o some_o text_n of_o the_o scripture_n be_v in_o some_o place_n very_o dark_a howbeit_o there_o be_v no_o text_n so_o obscure_a but_o it_o may_v be_v make_v plain_n by_o other_o text_n of_o the_o same_o scripture_n special_o if_o they_o resort_v not_o to_o the_o cannon_n and_o decretal_n but_o to_o the_o hebrew_n text_n for_o the_o the_o old_a testament_n 11._o and_o to_o the_o greek_a text_n for_o the_o new_a testament_n as_o s._n augustine_n do_v teach_v we_o who_o say_v in_o this_o wise_a 9_o such_o as_o understand_v the_o latin_a tongue_n must_v for_o the_o better_a understanding_n of_o the_o whole_a scripture_n have_v the_o knowledge_n of_o two_o other_o language_n more_o that_o be_v to_o wit_n of_o
