answer_v that_o their_o allegation_n be_v not_o true_a but_o they_o name_v some_o church_n that_o have_v do_v it_o yet_o many_o more_o may_v be_v name_v which_o have_v not_o do_v it_o 2._o for_o the_o feign_v the_o bishop_n and_o book_n to_o be_v ground_n of_o the_o increase_n of_o popery_n who_o see_v not_o the_o quite_o contrary_a that_o rather_o rebel_n and_o schismatics_n have_v do_v it_o popery_n have_v get_v more_o strength_n and_o our_o church_n more_o shame_n and_o slander_n in_o these_o late_a time_n they_o have_v bear_v the_o sway_n than_o all_o the_o time_n since_o the_o reformation_n before_o so_o that_o as_o it_o be_v a_o godly_a prayer_n set_v forth_o to_o be_v use_v upon_o the_o five_o of_o november_n by_o act_n of_o parliament_n to_o be_v use_v that_o upon_o that_o horrible_a treason_n of_o the_o papist_n through_o the_o goodness_n of_o god_n so_o happy_o discover_v god_n will_v strengthen_v the_o hand_n of_o our_o gracious_a king_n the_o nobles_z and_o the_o bishop_n and_o book_n as_o these_o man_n will_v have_v it_o or_o the_o rebellious_a mind_n of_o the_o enemy_n thereto_o it_o be_v needless_a now_o to_o say_v and_o whether_o the_o chief_a want_n of_o a_o through_o reformation_n be_v not_o suffer_v such_o spirit_n rather_o than_o suffer_v the_o bishop_n and_o the_o book_n to_o remain_v these_o late_a time_n have_v show_v wherein_o the_o two_o late_a book_n and_o bishop_n have_v be_v all_o the_o while_n in_o a_o total_a eclipse_n and_o the_o former_a rebel_n and_o schismatic_n shine_v in_o full_a and_o unlimited_a power_n and_o lustre_n next_o for_o future_a danger_n they_o allege_v zions_n plea_n again_o against_o which_o we_o must_v also_o again_o oppose_v the_o answer_n thereto_o in_o the_o rest_n of_o this_o chapter_n after_o pretend_a purity_n of_o their_o religion_n for_o more_o than_o ordinary_a defect_n in_o these_o shall_v this_o answer_v abundant_o show_v in_o their_o book_n but_o they_o will_v not_o be_v large_a as_o they_o say_v here_o in_o this_o theme_n no_o more_o will_v i_o but_o i_o hasten_v with_o they_o to_o the_o particular_a â—â—tter_n viz._n the_o common_a prayer_n book_n the_o principal_a stand_v without_o the_o other_o for_o so_o they_o tell_v we_o say_v as_o it_o be_v true_a that_o no_o ceremony_n no_o bishop_n so_o it_o be_v as_o true_a that_o no_o service-book_n no_o ceremony_n this_o they_o do_v very_o well_o bring_v in_o with_o this_o as_o and_o so_o for_o one_o of_o these_o be_v just_a as_o true_a as_o the_o other_o there_o be_v no_o truth_n at_o all_o in_o the_o one_o or_o the_o other_o for_o the_o bishop_n may_v still_o have_v their_o authority_n dignity_n and_o estate_n which_o they_o now_o have_v though_o all_o the_o ceremony_n we_o have_v be_v abolish_v and_o we_o may_v also_o have_v more_o ceremony_n than_o now_o we_o have_v though_o we_o have_v another_o common_a prayer_n book_n or_o none_o at_o all_o which_o be_v too_o clear_a to_o have_v any_o place_n leave_v for_o proof_n the_o next_o page_n of_o this_o chapter_n be_v a_o inveigh_v against_o superstition_n in_o general_a concern_v which_o i_o will_v meddle_v no_o more_o with_o they_o than_o they_o not_o a_o mass_n of_o superstition_n etc._n etc._n i_o grant_v all_o and_o for_o their_o information_n will_v tell_v they_o a_o little_a that_o it_o be_v superstition_n to_o make_v that_o a_o matter_n of_o conscience_n which_o they_o need_v not_o or_o to_o make_v that_o a_o part_n of_o god_n worship_n and_o service_n which_o be_v not_o simple_o so_o but_o a_o thing_n of_o itself_o indifferent_a whether_o then_o it_o be_v superstition_n to_o use_v our_o book_n and_o ceremony_n because_o command_v or_o to_o reject_v they_o upon_o a_o pretence_n of_o their_o being_n not_o indifferent_a but_o simple_o unlawful_a when_o god_n have_v not_o forbid_v they_o and_o the_o church_n have_v command_v they_o let_v reason_n judge_v but_o to_o proceed_v with_o they_o they_o endeavour_v to_o prove_v the_o common_a prayer_n to_o be_v superstitious_a because_o it_o appoint_v kneel_v at_o the_o communion_n thus_o the_o grand_a ceremony_n of_o adoration_n or_o kneel_v at_o the_o communion_n have_v it_o not_o be_v the_o staff_n and_o strength_n of_o that_o abominable_a idol_n the_o breaden_a god_n in_o which_o word_n with_o the_o rest_n there_o follow_v they_o charge_v we_o in_o kneel_v to_o agree_v with_o the_o lutheran_n and_o papist_n in_o this_o point_n concern_v the_o matter_n but_o leave_v the_o manner_n we_o answer_v that_o we_o neither_o suppose_v lutherane_n consubstantiation_n we_o then_o of_o preach_v in_o general_a but_o to_o esteem_v more_o of_o the_o set_a prayer_n make_v by_o the_o most_o judicious_a father_n and_o by_o law_n establish_v and_o of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n true_o and_o plain_o read_v then_o of_o such_o ex_fw-la tempore_fw-la prayer_n and_o sermon_n as_o many_o of_o the_o enemy_n of_o the_o common_a prayer-book_n make_v sometime_o no_o man_n that_o understand_v himself_o and_o the_o word_n of_o god_n can_v possible_o forbid_v without_o manifest_a impiety_n and_o that_o such_o prayer_n and_o sermon_n be_v not_o more_o proper_o fardel_n of_o man_n device_n than_o the_o liturgy_n which_o have_v so_o much_o of_o the_o sincere_a word_n of_o god_n in_o it_o no_o reasonable_a man_n can_v say_v then_o for_o those_o word_n in_o the_o canon_n which_o they_o allege_v of_o divine_a service_n and_o sermon_n they_o do_v not_o in_o the_o least_o sort_n make_v preach_v no_o part_n of_o or_o a_o lesser_a part_n of_o god_n service_n then_o read_v and_o pray_v but_o speak_v in_o that_o canon_n for_o the_o order_n of_o the_o people_n they_o speak_v in_o the_o people_n language_n wherein_o it_o be_v usual_a to_o say_v service_n and_o sermon_n so_o that_o have_v they_o say_v only_o divine_a service_n and_o not_o add_v sermon_n some_o will_v have_v exclude_v the_o sermon_n from_o be_v understand_v in_o the_o canon_n but_o the_o canon_n to_o show_v that_o we_o esteem_v of_o sermon_n as_o well_o as_o of_o service_n appoint_v the_o same_o reverence_n to_o be_v use_v in_o the_o one_o that_o be_v in_o the_o other_o this_o cavil_n therefore_o be_v most_o idle_a three_o they_o speak_v of_o evil_a effect_n of_o our_o liturgy_n upon_o the_o people_n and_o herein_o first_o they_o tell_v we_o of_o a_o evil_a effect_n the_o book_n have_v upon_o the_o law_n because_o some_o have_v be_v punish_v for_o not_o read_v the_o book_n contrary_a to_o law_n which_o i_o answer_v to_o thus_o if_o this_o be_v true_a it_o be_v mere_o accidental_a to_o
