many_o preacher_n to_o say_v nothing_o of_o the_o gross_o proud_a tyrannical_a and_o worldly_a clergy_n do_v spend_v so_o many_o year_n in_o study_n that_o be_v use_v but_o in_o the_o service_n of_o the_o flesh_n to_o their_o own_o condemnation_n and_o never_o bend_v their_o mind_n to_o kindle_v in_o themselves_o the_o love_n of_o god_n nor_o a_o heavenly_a desire_n or_o hope_n nor_o to_o live_v in_o the_o comfortable_a prospect_n of_o glory_n how_o many_o preach_v up_o that_o love_n and_o holiness_n as_o the_o trade_n that_o they_o must_v live_v by_o which_o they_o never_o fervent_o preach_v to_o themselves_o nor_o practise_v sincere_o one_o hour_n in_o their_o life_n how_o many_o use_n to_o preach_v funeral_n sermon_n and_o bury_v the_o dead_a that_o be_v unprepared_a for_o death_n themselves_o and_o harden_v in_o their_o security_n and_o unholy_a state_n by_o those_o sight_n those_o study_n those_o word_n which_o shall_v awaken_v and_o convince_v they_o and_o which_o they_o plead_v themselves_o for_o the_o conviction_n of_o their_o hearer_n o_o miserable_a scholar_n miserable_a preacher_n miserable_a doctor_n and_o prelate_n who_o study_n and_o preach_v to_o their_o own_o condemnation_n and_o have_v not_o knowledge_n enough_o to_o teach_v they_o to_o love_n god_n nor_o to_o set_v more_o by_o the_o heavenly_a glory_n than_o this_o world_n but_o by_o spiritual_a word_n do_v both_o hide_v and_o cherish_v a_o fleshly_a and_o a_o worldly_a mind_n you_o will_v find_v at_o death_n that_o all_o your_o learning_n be_v but_o a_o dream_n and_o one_o of_o the_o vanity_n that_o entangle_v fool_n and_o you_o will_v die_v as_o sad_o as_o the_o unlearned_a and_o be_v beat_v with_o more_o stripe_n than_o they_o that_o know_v not_o their_o master_n will._n 1._o itself_o knowledge_n puff_v up_o but_o charity_n edifi_v unholy_a knowledge_n be_v a_o powerful_a instrument_n of_o satan_n service_n in_o the_o service_n of_o pride_n and_o ambition_n and_o heresy_n one_o learned_a and_o witty_a ungodly_a man_n will_v merit_v more_o of_o the_o devil_n by_o mischieving_a mankind_n than_o many_o of_o the_o common_a unlearned_a sort_n and_o none_o be_v so_o like_v impenitent_o to_o glory_n in_o this_o sin_n they_o will_v be_v proud_a of_o such_o adorn_a fetter_n that_o they_o can_v sin_v philosophical_o and_o metaphysical_o in_o greek_a and_o hebrew_n and_o with_o logical_a subtlety_n or_o oratorical_a fluency_n prove_v against_o unlearned_a man_n that_o they_o do_v well_o in_o damn_v their_o own_o soul_n and_o that_o god_n and_o heaven_n be_v not_o he_o not_o as_o god_n but_o become_v vain_a in_o their_o imagination_n their_o foolish_a heart_n be_v darken_v and_o profess_v themselves_o wise_a philosopher_n or_o gnostic_n they_o become_v fool_n that_o we_o know_v and_o love_n and_o if_o we_o know_v he_o only_o as_o relate_v to_o we_o and_o the_o world_n as_o that_o he_o be_v our_o creator_n owner_n mover_n ruler_n and_o benefactor_n and_o yet_o know_v not_o what_o he_o be_v in_o his_o essence_n that_o be_v thus_o relate_v viz_o that_o he_o be_v the_o perfect_a first_o be_v life_n wisdom_n and_o love_n this_o be_v not_o true_o to_o know_v and_o love_v he_o as_o he_o be_v god._n these_o conception_n therefore_o must_v be_v conjunct_a god_n be_v not_o here_o know_v to_o we_o but_o by_o the_o revelation_n of_o his_o work_n and_o word_n nor_o can_v we_o conceive_v of_o he_o but_o by_o the_o similitude_n of_o some_o of_o his_o work_n not_o that_o we_o must_v think_v that_o he_o be_v just_a such_o as_o they_o or_o picture_n he_o like_o a_o creature_n for_o he_o be_v infinite_o above_o they_o all_o but_o yet_o it_o be_v certain_a that_o he_o have_v make_v some_o impression_n of_o his_o perfection_n upon_o his_o work_n and_o on_o some_o of_o they_o so_o clear_a as_o that_o they_o be_v call_v his_o image_n nothing_o be_v know_v to_o we_o but_o either_o 1._o by_o sense_n immediate_o perceive_v thing_n external_a and_o represent_v they_o to_o the_o fantasy_n and_o intellect_n or_o 2._o by_o the_o intellect_n own_o conceive_n of_o other_o thing_n by_o the_o similitude_n of_o thing_n sense_v 3._o or_o by_o immediate_a internal_a intuition_n or_o sensation_n of_o the_o act_n of_o the_o soul_n in_o itself_o 4._o or_o by_o reason_n collection_n of_o the_o nature_n of_o other_o thing_n from_o the_o similitude_n and_o effect_n of_o such_o perceive_v operation_n i._o by_o the_o external_a sense_n we_o perceive_v all_o external_a sense_v thing_n and_o we_o imagine_v and_o know_v they_o as_o so_o perceive_v ii_o by_o the_o intellection_n of_o these_o we_o conceive_v of_o other_o thing_n as_o like_v they_o form_v universal_a conception_n and_o apply_v they_o to_o such_o individual_n as_o be_v beyond_o the_o reach_n of_o our_o sense_n as_o we_o think_v of_o man_n tree_n beast_n fish_n etc._n etc._n in_o the_o indies_n as_o like_v those_o which_o we_o have_v see_v and_o of_o sound_n there_o as_o like_v those_o which_o we_o have_v hear_v and_o of_o the_o taste_n of_o fruit_n by_o the_o similitude_n of_o such_o as_o we_o have_v taste_v etc._n etc._n iii_o how_o sense_n itself_o intellection_n itself_o volition_n itself_o and_o internal_a affection_n be_v perceive_v be_v no_o small_a controversy_n among_o philosopher_n that_o we_o do_v perceive_v they_o by_o the_o great_a wisdom_n and_o goodness_n of_o our_o creator_n we_o be_v sure_a but_o how_o we_o do_v it_o we_o can_v scarce_o describe_v as_o know_v it_o better_o by_o the_o experience_n of_o that_o perception_n itself_o than_o by_o a_o
