follow_v that_o whoever_o do_v in_o his_o history_n or_o work_n mâ—ntion_v himself_o as_o moses_n in_o these_o book_n be_v suppose_v to_o do_v he_o can_v be_v the_o author_n of_o that_o book_n or_o relation_n this_o will_v be_v to_o conclude_v too_o much_o and_o yet_o if_o this_o proposition_n be_v not_o true_a tâ—â—â—_n objection_n have_v so_o far_o as_o it_o go_v no_o manner_n of_o force_n in_o it_o that_o he_o can_v be_v the_o author_n of_o a_o book_n that_o mention_n himself_o as_o a_o three_o person_n may_v be_v affirm_v indeed_o easy_o but_o can_v never_o be_v prove_v if_o this_o be_v admit_v we_o must_v discharge_v several_a author_n of_o the_o book_n of_o the_o holy_a scripture_n both_o of_o the_o old_a and_o new_a testament_n also_o and_o then_o we_o must_v not_o believe_v that_o julius_n caesar_n write_v the_o commentary_n that_o go_v under_o his_o name_n or_o josephus_n that_o part_n of_o his_o repute_a work_n where_o he_o speak_v of_o himself_o as_o of_o a_o three_o person_n it_o be_v hardly_o credible_a that_o the_o objector_n can_v believe_v the_o consequence_n of_o this_o objection_n and_o i_o think_v there_o be_v no_o fear_n if_o they_o shall_v that_o any_o indifferent_a person_n shall_v believe_v with_o they_o 2._o as_o to_o the_o second_o part_n of_o the_o objection_n that_o we_o can_v suppose_v that_o moses_n will_v commend_v himself_o nor_o consequent_o that_o he_o shall_v write_v the_o pentateuch_n where_o he_o be_v commend_v i_o answer_v that_o this_o objection_n whatever_o may_v be_v infer_v from_o it_o do_v not_o conclude_v that_o thence_o infer_v by_o a_o way_n of_o reason_v peculiar_a to_o himself_o that_o moses_n be_v not_o the_o author_n of_o the_o pentateuch_n he_o mention_n the_o book_n of_o the_o covenant_n exod._n 24._o oblige_v to_o regard_v groundless_a imagination_n and_o that_o be_v all_o we_o have_v here_o offer_v to_o we_o 2._o nor_o be_v there_o any_o thing_n in_o the_o follow_a word_n but_o what_o be_v very_o agreeable_a to_o the_o time_n and_o age_n of_o moses_n for_o why_o may_v not_o this_o proverbial_a speech_n be_v in_o use_n from_o the_o day_n of_o abraham_n to_o the_o time_n of_o moses_n here_o be_v space_n enough_o from_o the_o time_n of_o abraham_n to_o that_o of_o moses_n for_o such_o a_o say_v to_o become_v a_o common_a say_v or_o proverbial_a speech_n if_o a_o late_a writer_n may_v say_v as_o it_o be_v say_v to_o this_o day_n why_o may_v not_o moses_n say_v it_o as_o well_o i_o confess_v sincere_o i_o do_v not_o see_v in_o this_o objection_n any_o thing_n that_o have_v the_o least_o appearance_n of_o weight_n in_o it_o and_o shall_v have_v be_v ashamed_a to_o mention_v it_o be_v it_o not_o incumbent_n upon_o i_o in_o this_o matter_n to_o lay_v the_o objection_n i_o meet_v with_o fair_o before_o the_o reader_n obj._n ix_o the_o author_n of_o the_o leviathan_n roundly_o affirm_v that_o moses_n can_v not_o be_v the_o author_n of_o those_o word_n numb_a 21.14_o wherefore_o it_o
