afterward_o god_n make_v they_o victorious_a over_o those_o uncircumcised_a nation_n in_o who_o country_n they_o plant_v themselves_o when_o their_o first_o habitation_n by_o reason_n they_o multiply_v so_o great_o be_v too_o little_a for_o they_o verse_n 8._o judah_n thou_o be_v he_o who_o thy_o brethren_n shall_v praise_v allude_v to_o his_o name_n which_o signify_v confession_n or_o name_n of_o jesus_n every_o knee_n shall_v bow_v verse_n 9_o judah_n be_v a_o lion_n whelp_n etc._n etc._n the_o tribe_n of_o judah_n be_v here_o compare_v to_o a_o lion_n thereby_o the_o better_a yet_o to_o express_v their_o mighty_a strength_n and_o courage_n how_o terrible_a they_o shall_v be_v unto_o their_o enemy_n and_o how_o great_a and_o glorious_a their_o conquest_n shall_v be_v that_o look_v as_o a_o lion_n the_o king_n of_o beast_n fly_v upon_o any_o beast_n he_o meet_v with_o and_o tear_n they_o in_o piece_n and_o return_v from_o his_o prey_n couch_v down_o and_o feed_v upon_o judah_n and_o that_o as_o be_v the_o son_n of_o the_o virgin_n mary_n who_o be_v of_o judah_n tribe_n so_o that_o the_o drift_n of_o these_o word_n be_v to_o foretell_v of_o what_o tribe_n the_o messiah_n shall_v be_v to_o wit_n of_o the_o tribe_n of_o judah_n and_o at_o what_o time_n he_o shall_v come_v to_o wit_n that_o after_o once_o the_o regal_a dignity_n shall_v be_v settle_v in_o that_o tribe_n which_o be_v do_v when_o david_n be_v anoint_a king_n the_o government_n shall_v never_o be_v take_v from_o he_o at_o least_o so_o far_o but_o that_o there_o shall_v be_v a_o lawgiver_n from_o between_o his_o foot_n nor_o his_o kingdom_n and_o commonwealth_n be_v utter_o ruin_v and_o abolish_v until_o the_o messiah_n come_v the_o chief_a difficulty_n of_o this_o place_n be_v in_o make_v good_a the_o truth_n of_o this_o prophecy_n concern_v the_o continuance_n of_o judah_n principality_n and_o kingdom_n until_o the_o messiah_n come_v and_o that_o because_o it_o be_v evident_a 1._o that_o after_o jechoniah_n and_o zedekiah_n the_o two_o last_o king_n of_o judah_n they_o have_v no_o more_o any_o king_n of_o that_o royal_a house_n of_o david_n nor_o of_o the_o tribe_n of_o satisfy_v with_o what_o be_v do_v verse_n 31._o and_o moses_n return_v unto_o the_o lord_n etc._n etc._n it_o seem_v that_o this_o be_v another_o go_v up_o unto_o god_n then_o when_o he_o stay_v there_o forty_o day_n and_o forty_o night_n the_o second_o time_n for_o this_o be_v the_o morrow_n after_o the_o levite_n have_v slay_v three_o thousand_o of_o the_o people_n and_o many_o thing_n be_v a_o metaphorical_a expression_n wherein_o the_o scripture_n speak_v of_o god_n after_o the_o manner_n of_o man_n now_o when_o moses_n here_o say_v that_o if_o god_n will_v not_o forgive_v the_o sin_n of_o this_o people_n he_o desire_v that_o himself_o may_v be_v rather_o blot_v out_o of_o the_o book_n of_o life_n we_o can_v hence_o infer_v that_o god_n decree_n can_v be_v change_v or_o that_o those_o that_o be_v elect_v unto_o life_n may_v notwithstanding_o perish_v everlasting_o or_o that_o god_n justice_n will_v admit_v of_o the_o punish_n of_o a_o righteous_a person_n together_o with_o the_o wicked_a for_o in_o this_o speech_n moses_n seek_v only_o to_o express_v not_o what_o he_o think_v may_v be_v but_o what_o he_o can_v wish_v may_v be_v if_o thereby_o the_o save_n of_o god_n people_n may_v be_v procure_v to_o wit_n that_o out_o of_o his_o sorrow_n for_o the_o rejection_n of_o this_o people_n his_o zeal_n for_o god_n glory_n and_o his_o great_a affection_n to_o his_o brethren_n he_o can_v wish_v himself_o deprive_v of_o heavenly_a glory_n that_o they_o may_v be_v again_o receive_v into_o favour_n this_o be_v all_o that_o moses_n intend_v in_o these_o word_n only_o be_v carry_v away_o with_o the_o strength_n of_o his_o affection_n and_o vehemency_n of_o his_o desire_n he_o express_v this_o by_o a_o way_n of_o request_n if_o not_o blot_v i_o i_o pray_v thou_o out_o of_o the_o book_n which_o thou_o have_v write_v and_o thus_o general_o be_v this_o speech_n of_o moses_n understand_v but_o yet_o it_o may_v also_o be_v understand_v of_o the_o catalogue_n and_o register_n that_o be_v keep_v as_o it_o be_v in_o the_o divine_a omniscience_n of_o all_o the_o live_n here_o in_o this_o world_n out_o of_o which_o moses_n desire_v to_o be_v blot_v that_o be_v to_o be_v cut_v off_o by_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n rather_o than_o the_o people_n shall_v be_v cast_v off_o which_o he_o have_v so_o miraculous_o deliver_v out_o of_o their_o bondage_n in_o egypt_n and_o fear_n and_o that_o god_n will_v else_o manifest_v his_o holiness_n in_o punish_v they_o ezek._n 28._o 22._o behold_v i_o be_o against_o â—hee_o o_o zidon_n and_o i_o will_v be_v glorify_v in_o the_o midst_n of_o thou_o two_o argument_n be_v therefore_o herein_o couch_v to_o keep_v aaron_n from_o murmur_v 1._o because_o the_o punishment_n be_v just_a 2._o because_o god_n shall_v be_v glorify_v two_o elder_a son_n together_o at_o a_o clap_n we_o know_v what_o rebeckah_n in_o great_a angaish_fw-mi of_o soul_n say_v to_o jacob_n when_o his_o brother_n esau_n have_v resolve_v to_o kill_v he_o gen._n 27._o 45._o go_v â—lie_v to_o paran_n why_o shall_v i_o be_v deprive_v of_o you_o boâ—h_v in_o one_o day_n second_o that_o they_o be_v cut_v off_o sudden_o by_o a_o untine_o death_n as_o we_o use_v to_o say_v when_o neither_o themselves_o not_o their_o poor_a father_n do_v ever_o dream_v of_o any_o such_o danger_n three_o that_o they_o be_v cut_v off_o by_o a_o way_n which_o may_v seem_v to_o testify_v god_n hot_a displeasure_n against_o they_o for_o they_o be_v devour_v by_o fire_n from_o god_n the_o lord_n by_o the_o manner_n of_o their_o death_n point_v out_o the_o sin_n for_o which_o they_o be_v strike_v and_o what_o father_n have_v not_o rather_o lose_v all_o his_o stock_n of_o child_n in_o a_o ordinary_a way_n then_o have_v execution_n do_v upon_o any_o one_o of_o they_o by_o god_n immediate_a hand_n in_o such_o a_o terrible_a manner_n four_o that_o it_o be_v at_o a_o time_n when_o â—heir_a heart_n no_o doubt_n be_v as_o full_a of_o joy_n as_o ever_o they_o can_v which_o can_v not_o so_o well_o have_v be_v do_v upon_o the_o rough_a stone_n three_o that_o though_o it_o be_v not_o express_v what_o law_n of_o god_n it_o be_v that_o be_v to_o be_v write_v on_o this_o monument_n and_o therefore_o some_o conceive_v that_o it_o be_v the_o ten_o commandment_n other_o the_o curse_n and_o the_o blessing_n which_o be_v then_o also_o to_o be_v pronounce_v upon_o mount_n ebal_n and_o mount_n gerizzim_n and_o other_o this_o whole_a book_n of_o deuteronomie_n the_o law_n which_o moses_n have_v now_o give_v they_o and_o for_o the_o prove_v thereof_o they_o urge_v
