answer_v that_o what_o shine_v so_o clear_o to_o he_o i_o do_v not_o at_o all_o discover_v p._n 84._o mr._n w._n proceed_v in_o a_o long_a discourse_n which_o i_o think_v rather_o confound_v and_o mislead_v than_o open_v and_o declare_v the_o mean_v of_o st._n paul_n word_n and_o yet_o i_o have_v no_o intent_n to_o implicate_v myself_o with_o he_o upon_o that_o subject_a especial_o in_o many_o intelligent_a soul_n be_v inject_v thereinto_o for_o the_o body_n can_v rise_v or_o come_v out_o of_o its_o grave_a without_o a_o spirit_n of_o life_n or_o such_o a_o sort_n of_o soul_n as_o be_v natural_a suitable_a and_o fit_v for_o that_o performance_n i_o do_v therefore_o reject_v the_o expression_n by_o he_o use_v viz._n the_o resurrection_n of_o the_o body_n because_o it_o be_v not_o where_o use_v in_o the_o scripture_n and_o because_o there_o be_v no_o such_o thing_n in_o nature_n as_o that_o a_o body_n shall_v rise_v and_o live_v without_o a_o soul_n what_o rise_v therefore_o be_v not_o only_o the_o body_n but_o the_o person_n which_o be_v dead_a a_o very_a like_a or_o his_o very_a same_o person_n which_o before_o have_v die_v mr._n w._n in_o the_o conclusion_n of_o this_o raise_v uncorruptible_a and_o we_o who_o be_v then_o alive_a shall_v be_v change_v and_o the_o last_o verse_n of_o this_o chapter_n he_o add_v therefore_o my_o belove_a brethren_n be_v you_o steadfast_a unmoveable_a always_o abound_v in_o the_o work_n of_o the_o lord_n for_o as_o much_o as_o you_o know_v your_o labour_n be_v not_o in_o vain_a in_o the_o lord_n for_o i_o have_v give_v you_o comfort_v that_o there_o shall_v certain_o be_v a_o resurrection_n of_o the_o dead_a wherein_o your_o dead_a friend_n also_o shall_v rise_v again_o and_o i_o will_v have_v you_o make_v this_o a_o comfort_n to_o you_o concern_v both_o your_o dead_a friend_n and_o your_o die_a self_n advise_v you_o to_o repose_v your_o hope_n thereupon_o and_o to_o comfort_v yourselves_o and_o one_o another_o with_o your_o discourse_n and_o communication_n concern_v it_o our_o apostle_n appear_v here_o comfort_v the_o heart_n of_o his_o correspondent_o against_o the_o suffering_n of_o death_n give_v i_o a_o firm_a ground_n of_o persuasion_n that_o he_o either_o do_v not_o know_v of_o this_o opinion_n or_o he_o do_v not_o believe_v it_o for_o if_o he_o have_v believe_v this_o doctrine_n to_o be_v true_a i_o think_v he_o can_v not_o have_v forget_v or_o forbear_v to_o give_v his_o disciple_n comfort_v from_o that_o topick_n because_o such_o comfort_n will_v have_v be_v much_o near_a than_o those_o which_o he_o derive_v from_o the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o resurrection_n and_o will_v have_v be_v both_o a_o more_o short_a and_o sure_a way_n to_o that_o salvation_n and_o future_a happiness_n which_o man_n desire_v and_o therefore_o if_o st._n paul_n have_v believe_v this_o doctrine_n to_o be_v true_a i_o think_v he_o can_v have_v no_o reason_n for_o his_o balk_v it_o in_o this_o place_n but_o in_o congruity_n of_o reason_n must_v have_v say_v brethren_n comfort_v yourselves_o against_o sorrow_n for_o your_o friend_n death_n and_o the_o fear_n of_o your_o own_o by_o consider_v the_o happy_a state_n of_o those_o which_o die_v in_o the_o lord_n for_o that_o their_o spirit_n or_o soul_n immediate_o
even_o down_o to_o latter_a time_n and_o the_o same_o conception_n seem_v to_o have_v a_o be_v and_o substance_n in_o the_o mind_n of_o some_o learned_a person_n until_o this_o time_n my_o discourse_n concern_v this_o sort_n of_o spirit_n have_v be_v deliver_v with_o intent_n to_o discover_v and_o evince_v that_o solomon_n spirit_n return_v to_o god_n who_o give_v it_o be_v speak_v and_o mean_v by_o he_o concern_v this_o last_o sort_n of_o spirit_n and_o i_o intend_v to_o recite_v some_o argument_n for_o the_o prove_v of_o this_o construction_n first_o i_o argue_v from_o the_o word_n or_o sort_n of_o soul_n seem_v never_o to_o have_v be_v a_o part_n or_o concomitant_a of_o god_n before_o its_o be_v put_v into_o the_o body_n for_o the_o enliven_a and_o act_v of_o the_o person_n i_o do_v not_o therefore_o well_o perceive_v how_o such_o a_o â—oul_n can_v be_v proper_o say_v to_o return_v to_o god_n but_o the_o expression_n therereunto_o proper_o belong_v shall_v have_v be_v word_v the_o spirit_n go_v to_o or_o go_v before_o god_n with_o expectation_n to_o receive_v his_o judgement_n and_o sentence_n according_a to_o the_o demeanour_n of_o its_o person_n upon_o earth_n and_o i_o do_v not_o perceive_v how_o this_o soul_n go_v to_o god_n for_o judgement_n can_v be_v proper_o call_v a_o return_n to_o god_n who_o give_v it_o second_o i_o argue_v i_o find_v not_o so_o much_o as_o one_o text_n in_o scripture_n which_o say_v the_o soul_n of_o die_a person_n go_v present_o to_o god_n for_o judgement_n nor_o any_o text_n from_o whence_o this_o opinion_n may_v be_v draw_v by_o a_o rational_a inference_n and_o that_o which_o make_v near_a approach_n to_o it_o of_o any_o that_o i_o know_v be_v the_o parable_n of_o dives_n where_o it_o be_v say_v the_o beggar_n die_v and_o be_v carry_v by_o angel_n into_o abraham_n bosom_n i_o know_v my_o opposer_n will_v think_v it_o needless_a to_o ask_v they_o what_o be_v intend_v by_o the_o word_n the_o beggar_n be_v carry_v by_o the_o angel_n into_o abraham_n bosom_n and_o doubt_v not_o but_o they_o will_v soon_o make_v a_o bold_a answer_n it_o neither_o be_v nor_o can_v be_v the_o beggar_n himself_o that_o be_v so_o carry_v in_o his_o whole_a person_n body_n and_o soul_n into_o abraham_n bosom_n and_o yet_o the_o word_n of_o the_o text_n seem_v to_o import_v that_o his_o whole_a person_n soul_n and_o body_n be_v carry_v thither_o but_o if_o we_o shall_v grant_v their_o gloss_n upon_o this_o text_n to_o be_v true_a that_o his_o soul_n only_o be_v carry_v by_o angel_n into_o abraham_n bosom_n we_o may_v draw_v these_o inference_n from_o that_o relation_n either_o that_o his_o soul_n be_v so_o ignorant_a as_o it_o know_v not_o how_o to_o find_v a_o way_n to_o that_o habitation_n or_o else_o be_v so_o weak_a and_o impotent_a as_o it_o be_v not_o able_a to_o pass_v thither_o without_o the_o support_n and_o ministry_n of_o angel_n how_o then_o can_v we_o conceive_v that_o such_o a_o soul_n as_o this_o shall_v make_v its_o return_n to_o god_n present_o upon_o the_o death_n of_o its_o person_n without_o mention_n of_o any_o other_o assistance_n to_o be_v give_v it_o we_o hear_v nothing_o of_o dives_n in_o the_o parable_n but_o that_o be_v in_o hell_n he_o lift_v up_o his_o eye_n and_o see_v lazarus_n in_o another_o place_n without_o mention_n of_o the_o mean_n by_o which_o he_o come_v there_o and_o if_o we_o shall_v follow_v the_o common_a conjecture_n that_o as_o lazarus_n be_v carry_v to_o one_o place_n by_o angel_n so_o dives_n be_v hurry_v to_o the_o other_o by_o devil_n it_o will_v appear_v very_o unlikely_a that_o mr._n w.'s_n sort_n of_o soul_n be_v able_a to_o make_v its_o way_n and_o return_v to_o god_n at_o its_o pleasure_n and_o here_o we_o read_v the_o beggar_n be_v soul_n be_v carry_v by_o angel_n into_o abraham_n bosom_n without_o mention_n of_o its_o be_v carry_v or_o return_v to_o god_n at_o all_o whence_o it_o seem_v probable_a that_o when_o solomon_n speak_v of_o the_o totum_fw-la as_o water_n present_o incorporate_v with_o water_n and_o the_o particle_n of_o air_n neither_o will_n nor_o can_v be_v separate_v from_o the_o incorporate_n one_o of_o they_o with_o a_o other_o three_o i_o argue_v that_o if_o solomon_n have_v intend_v by_o the_o word_n return_v to_o god_n who_o give_v it_o a_o go_v of_o the_o soul_n to_o god_n or_o before_o god_n for_o receive_v the_o doom_n of_o his_o intermediate_v judgement_n it_o seem_v a_o matter_n of_o such_o great_a moment_n as_o require_v a_o more_o full_a discourse_n upon_o the_o same_o and_o give_v we_o more_o must_v needs_o have_v pass_v for_o false_a heraldry_n we_o find_v in_o this_o chapter_n that_o as_o soon_o as_o solomon_n have_v write_v the_o word_n the_o spirit_n return_v to_o god_n who_o give_v it_o he_o cease_v to_o speak_v any_o further_o concern_v the_o state_n of_o man_n after_o death_n till_o he_o come_v to_o the_o 14_o or_o last_o verse_n of_o the_o chapter_n where_o he_o say_v as_o a_o conclusion_n of_o his_o whole_a matter_n fear_v god_n and_o keep_v his_o commandment_n for_o god_n will_v bring_v every_o work_n into_o judgement_n with_o every_o secret_a thing_n whether_o it_o be_v good_a or_o whether_o it_o be_v evil_a i_o think_v it_o not_o reasonable_a to_o conjecture_v that_o solomon_n by_o his_o return_v of_o the_o spirit_n to_o god_n who_o give_v it_o do_v intend_v such_o a_o return_v to_o god_n to_o be_v a_o go_n to_o he_o or_o before_o he_o for_o a_o intermediate_v judgement_n for_o that_o if_o he_o have_v so_o intend_v he_o will_v not_o have_v immediate_o have_v mention_v and_o relate_v the_o certainty_n and_o effect_n of_o the_o general_n judgement_n as_o in_o this_o we_o see_v plain_o he_o have_v do_v and_o thus_o i_o leave_v solomon_n word_n and_o
