there_o he_o insert_v a_o holy_a life_n between_o the_o two_o come_n of_o christ_n show_v that_o the_o believe_a the_o end_n of_o both_o will_v work_v this_o effect_n in_o the_o change_n of_o our_o life_n to_o be_v sober_a to_o ourselves_o and_o just_a to_o other_o and_o holy_a to_o god_n the_o grace_n of_o god_n have_v appear_v that_o be_v in_o the_o first_o come_v of_o christ_n teach_v we_o to_o deny_v all_o ungodliness_n and_o worldly_a lust_n etc._n etc._n and_o then_o look_v forward_o still_o for_o the_o second_o come_v of_o christ._n so_o that_o he_o believe_v that_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n have_v appear_v in_o save_v our_o soul_n by_o the_o death_n of_o christ_n in_o his_o first_o come_v and_o he_o that_o believe_v that_o he_o will_v come_v to_o be_v glorious_a after_o in_o his_o second_o come_v certain_o he_o will_v live_v just_o and_o sober_o and_o righteous_o in_o this_o present_a world_n he_o will_v fit_v himself_o for_o that_o estate_n that_o he_o profess_v to_o desire_v let_v we_o try_v ourselves_o by_o these_o evidence_n in_o some_o measure_n and_o not_o think_v our_o state_n good_a till_o we_o can_v say_v from_o our_o heart_n come_v but_o be_v christian_n always_o in_o this_o state_n of_o soul_n that_o they_o can_v say_v come_v answer_n i_o answer_v they_o be_v always_o in_o some_o degree_n fit_v themselves_o for_o christ_n come_v but_o notwithstanding_o they_o be_v not_o always_o so_o exact_a and_o watchful_a that_o they_o can_v wish_v that_o he_o shall_v come_v at_o this_o time_n take_v the_o comparison_n from_o a_o wife_n a_o spouse_n she_o hearty_o desire_v the_o come_n home_o of_o her_o husband_n yet_o perhaps_o sometime_o thing_n may_v not_o be_v in_o so_o good_a order_n as_o to_o wish_v that_o he_o be_v here_o now_o nay_o i_o have_v not_o yet_o prepare_v this_o be_v the_o state_n of_o careless_a christian_n that_o have_v soundness_n of_o grace_n and_o yet_o be_v careless_a they_o desire_v the_o come_n of_o christ_n and_o they_o love_v the_o glory_n of_o the_o life_n to_o come_v and_o endeavour_v weak_o for_o it_o yet_o they_o be_v so_o careless_a some_o corruption_n hang_v on_o they_o that_o they_o have_v not_o so_o mortify_v and_o subdue_v as_o they_o shall_v do_v they_o be_v not_o yet_o so_o fit_v as_o they_o shall_v be_v therefore_o god_n often_o rouse_v such_o by_o affliction_n and_o other_o course_n in_o this_o world_n to_o wean_v they_o more_o from_o the_o love_n of_o the_o world_n and_o to_o prepare_v we_o because_o we_o be_v slothful_a and_o careless_a to_o prepare_v ourselves_o so_o beset_v with_o temptation_n therefore_o let_v none_o be_v overmuch_o discourage_v with_o that_o but_o let_v we_o strive_v as_o the_o church_n here_o to_o be_v in_o such_o a_o estate_n as_o we_o may_v root_n of_o it_o so_o our_o affection_n be_v root_v to_o earthly_a thing_n therefore_o we_o shall_v labour_v to_o loose_v they_o daily_o more_o and_o more_o by_o the_o consideration_n of_o the_o uncertainty_n and_o vanity_n of_o all_o thing_n they_o be_v not_o that_o that_o will_v stick_v to_o we_o and_o give_v we_o content_a when_o we_o shall_v stand_v in_o most_o need_n of_o they_o here_o we_o must_v leave_v the_o thing_n of_o the_o world_n as_o we_o find_v they_o here_o we_o must_v part_v with_o they_o therefore_o we_o shall_v labour_v to_o unloose_v our_o heart_n and_o to_o plant_v and_o set_v and_o pitch_v they_o where_o they_o may_v be_v safe_a and_o swallow_v up_o in_o better_a thing_n condition_n and_o to_o this_o end_n often_o meditate_v of_o the_o excellency_n that_o ready_a to_o execute_v it_o further_o than_o a_o man_n be_v curb_v by_o law_n or_o respect_n to_o his_o reputation_n or_o the_o like_a which_o be_v no_o thanks_n to_o he_o yet_o a_o man_n can_v act_v but_o that_o be_v not_o so_o much_o mean_v here_o for_o when_o we_o be_v in_o christ_n we_o be_v not_o free_a from_o this_o death_n but_o there_o a_o be_v worse_a death_n spiritual_a which_o be_v a_o separation_n of_o the_o soul_n from_o the_o favour_n and_o love_n of_o god_n and_o from_o the_o sanctify_a and_o comfort_v spirit_n of_o god_n when_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n do_v not_o comfort_n and_o sanctify_v the_o soul_n it_o be_v a_o death_n world_n for_o as_o the_o soul_n be_v the_o life_n of_o the_o body_n the_o body_n have_v but_o a_o communicate_v life_n from_o the_o union_n it_o have_v with_o the_o soul_n the_o soul_n have_v a_o life_n of_o its_o own_o when_o it_o be_v out_o of_o the_o body_n but_o the_o body_n have_v its_o life_n from_o the_o soul_n so_o it_o be_v with_o the_o soul_n when_o there_o be_v a_o estrangement_n of_o the_o soul_n from_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n &_o christ_n sanctify_v and_o comfort_v and_o cheer_v it_o than_o there_o be_v a_o death_n of_o the_o soul_n the_o soul_n can_v no_o more_o act_v any_o thing_n that_o be_v save_o and_o holy_o good_a than_o the_o body_n can_v be_v without_o the_o soul_n and_o as_o the_o body_n without_o the_o soul_n be_v a_o noisome_a odious_a carcase_n offensive_a in_o the_o eye_n of_o its_o dear_a friend_n so_o the_o soul_n without_o the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n quicken_a and_o season_v it_o and_o put_v a_o comeliness_n and_o beauty_n upon_o it_o it_o be_v odious_a all_o the_o clothes_n and_o flower_n you_o put_v upon_o a_o dead_a body_n can_v make_v it_o but_o a_o stink_a carcase_n so_o all_o the_o moral_a virtue_n and_o all_o the_o honour_n in_o this_o world_n put_v upon_o a_o man_n out_o of_o christ_n it_o make_v he_o not_o a_o spiritual_a live_a soul_n he_o be_v but_o a_o loathsome_a
