corrupt_a nature_n nature_n with_o the_o tang_n of_o corruption_n grace_n that_o look_v upward_o to_o glory_n and_o comfort_n nature_n look_v to_o the_o present_a grievance_n nature_n look_v not_o to_o thing_n to_o come_v to_o matter_n reveal_v in_o the_o word_n to_o supernatural_a comfort_n nature_n look_v to_o the_o present_a cross_n even_a nature_n without_o sin_n corrupt_a nature_n feel_v and_o feel_v with_o a_o secret_a murmur_a and_o repine_v and_o heaviness_n and_o dulness_n as_o indeed_o corrupt_a nature_n will_v always_o have_v a_o bout_n in_o cross_n it_o will_v always_o play_v its_o part_n first_o or_o last_o there_o be_v always_o these_o three_o work_n in_o the_o child_n of_o god_n in_o all_o extremity_n grace_n work_v and_o that_o carry_v up_o up_o still_o trust_v in_o god_n it_o look_v to_o heaven_n it_o look_v to_o the_o end_n and_o issue_n that_o all_o be_v for_o good_a nature_n it_o fill_v full_a of_o sense_n and_o pain_n and_o make_v a_o man_n desire_v remedy_n and_o ease_n corrupt_a nature_n stir_v a_o man_n up_o to_o fret_v and_o say_v what_o do_v god_n mean_a to_o do_v thus_o it_o stir_v a_o man_n ofttimes_o to_o use_v ill_a mean_n indirect_a course_n st._n paul_n be_v sensible_a from_o a_o right_a principle_n of_o nature_n and_o no_o doubt_n here_o be_v some_o tang_n of_o corruption_n with_o it_o he_o be_v sensible_a of_o the_o fear_n of_o death_n adam_n in_o innocence_n will_v have_v be_v affect_v and_o exquisite_o sensible_a no_o doubt_n if_o his_o body_n have_v be_v wrong_v for_o the_o more_o pure_a the_o complexion_n the_o more_o sensible_a of_o solution_n as_o physician_n say_v when_o that_o which_o shall_v be_v knit_v together_o if_o any_o thing_n be_v loose_v by_o sickness_n or_o by_o wound_n that_o shall_v by_o nature_n not_o be_v hurt_v but_o continue_v together_o it_o breed_v exquisite_a pain_n as_o to_o cut_v that_o which_o shall_v not_o be_v cut_v to_o disjoin_v that_o which_o shall_v be_v together_o this_o be_v in_o nature_n the_o schoolman_n say_v and_o the_o reason_n be_v good_a that_o christ_n pain_n be_v the_o great_a pain_n because_o his_o sense_n be_v not_o dull_v and_o stupefy_v with_o sensuality_n or_o indirect_a course_n he_o have_v a_o body_n of_o a_o excellent_a temper_n and_o he_o be_v in_o the_o perfection_n of_o his_o year_n when_o he_o die_v therefore_o he_o receive_v such_o a_o impression_n of_o grief_n in_o his_o whip_n and_o when_o he_o be_v crown_v with_o thorn_n that_o be_v it_o that_o make_v he_o so_o sensible_a of_o grief_n that_o when_o he_o sweat_v he_o sweat_v drop_n of_o blood_n and_o upon_o the_o cross_n it_o make_v he_o cry_v out_o my_o god_n my_o god_n why_o have_v thou_o forsake_v i_o god_n child_n out_o of_o a_o principle_n of_o nature_n be_v sensible_a of_o any_o grievance_n to_o this_o outward_a man_n of_o they_o to_o the_o body_n especial_o in_o death_n as_o we_o see_v here_o st._n paul_n and_o there_o be_v most_o patience_n where_o there_o be_v most_o sense_n it_o be_v stupidity_n and_o blockishness_n else_o why_o be_v god_n child_n so_o sensible_a in_o grief_n especial_o in_o death_n quest._n oh_o there_o be_v a_o great_a cause_n indeed_o in_o some_o regard_v they_o be_v not_o afraid_a of_o it_o ans._n for_o death_n be_v a_o enemy_n to_o nature_n it_o be_v none_o to_o grace_n but_o when_o i_o speak_v comfort_n not_o of_o grace_n and_o glory_n but_o of_o nature_n have_v not_o nature_n great_a cause_n to_o tremble_v at_o death_n when_o it_o be_v a_o enemy_n to_o nature_n even_o to_o right_a nature_n it_o be_v the_o king_n of_o fear_n as_o job_n say_v it_o be_v that_o tyrant_n that_o make_v all_o the_o king_n of_o the_o earth_n to_o tremble_v at_o he_o when_o death_n come_v it_o be_v terrible_a why_o because_o it_o strip_v we_o friend_n can_v part_v without_o grief_n how_o shall_v these_o bosom-friend_n these_o unite_a friend_n body_n and_o soul_n part_n without_o grief_n this_o marriage_n between_o the_o soul_n and_o the_o body_n can_v be_v disunite_v without_o exquisite_a pain_n be_v old_a acquaintance_n again_o nature_n abhor_v death_n it_o hinder_v we_o of_o all_o employment_n it_o hinder_v of_o all_o service_n of_o god_n in_o church_n and_o commonwealth_n and_o so_o grace_v which_o employment_n be_v beyond_o nature_n do_v a_o little_a desire_n the_o continuance_n of_o life_n but_o nature_n even_o out_o of_o no_o sinful_a principle_n it_o see_v that_o now_o i_o can_v serve_v god_n no_o long_o i_o can_v do_v god_n no_o more_o service_n i_o can_v do_v good_a no_o long_o in_o this_o world_n and_o therefore_o it_o take_v it_o to_o heart_n our_o savour_n say_v while_o you_o have_v light_a walk_v the_o night_n come_v when_o no_o man_n be_v able_a to_o work_v the_o night_n of_o sickness_n and_o death_n so_o

they_o be_v ignorant_a of_o the_o way_n that_o he_o take_v with_o his_o child_n when_o they_o see_v man_n that_o be_v christian_n that_o they_o be_v humble_v and_o cast_v down_o and_o trouble_v they_o think_v they_o be_v man_n forsake_v of_o god_n etc._n etc._n alas_o they_o do_v not_o know_v god_n manner_n of_o deal_v he_o cast_v they_o down_o that_o he_o may_v raise_v they_o up_o they_o receive_v from_o censure_v of_o other_o man_n in_o our_o thought_n for_o this_o hard_a course_n which_o god_n seem_v to_o take_v with_o they_o and_o let_v we_o make_v this_o use_n of_o it_o when_o we_o be_v in_o any_o grievance_n and_o god_n follow_v we_o still_o let_v we_o mourn_v and_o lament_v the_o stubbornsse_n of_o our_o heart_n heart_n that_o will_v not_o yield_v god_n intend_v to_o draw_v we_o near_o to_o he_o to_o trust_v in_o he_o if_o we_o will_v do_v this_o the_o affliction_n will_v cease_v except_o it_o be_v for_o trial_n and_o for_o the_o exercise_n of_o grace_n and_o for_o witness_n to_o the_o truth_n when_o god_n afflict_v sometime_o for_o trial_n and_o for_o witness_n there_o be_v a_o spirit_n of_o glory_n in_o such_o a_o case_n that_o a_o man_n be_v never_o afflict_v in_o mind_n but_o i_o say_v when_o god_n follow_v we_o with_o sickness_n with_o cross_n with_o loss_n of_o friend_n and_o we_o be_v not_o wrought_v upon_o let_v we_o censure_v our_o hard_a heart_n that_o almost_o to_o death_n because_o his_o distemper_n be_v so_o settle_a upon_o he_o that_o he_o can_v otherwise_o cure_v he_o so_o it_o be_v with_o god_n the_o physician_n of_o our_o soul_n he_o must_v bring_v we_o wondrous_a low_a we_o be_v so_o prone_a so_o desperate_o addict_v to_o present_a thing_n to_o trust_v to_o they_o and_o to_o be_v proud_a of_o they_o and_o confident_a in_o they_o that_o god_n must_v deal_v as_o a_o sharp_a physician_n he_o must_v bring_v we_o so_o low_a or_o else_o we_o shall_v never_o be_v recover_v of_o our_o perfect_a health_n again_o and_o all_o be_v that_o we_o may_v trust_v in_o god_n observe_v we_o from_o hence_o another_o point_n that_o god_n in_o all_o outward_a thing_n that_o be_v ill_a intend_v the_o good_a of_o the_o soul._n soul._n he_o take_v liberty_n to_o take_v away_o health_n and_o liberty_n and_o friend_n to_o take_v away_o comfort_n but_o whatsoever_o he_o take_v away_o he_o intend_v the_o good_a of_o the_o soul_n in_o the_o first_o place_n and_o all_o the_o ill_n that_o he_o inflict_v upon_o we_o they_o be_v to_o cure_v a_o worse_a ill_n the_o ill_a of_o the_o soul_n to_o cure_v a_o unbelieving_a heart_n a_o worldly_a proud_a good_n how_o can_v this_o be_v that_o the_o affliction_n of_o god_n people_n be_v for_o the_o consolation_n and_o salvation_n of_o other_o i_o answer_v many_o way_n as_o we_o shall_v see_v afterward_o to_o the_o heart_n of_o any_o man_n that_o have_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n in_o they_o by_o a_o sympathetic_a suffering_n it_o be_v one_o good_a sign_n to_o know_v whether_o a_o man_n be_v of_o the_o mystical_a body_n or_o no_o to_o take_v to_o heart_n the_o grievance_n of_o the_o church_n as_o good_a nehemiah_n do_v he_o will_v not_o take_v comfort_n in_o the_o pleasure_n of_o a_o court_n in_o the_o king_n of_o babylon_n court_n when_o it_o go_v not_o well_o with_o his_o country_n when_o the_o church_n be_v in_o distress_n he_o take_v their_o grievance_n to_o heart_n so_o moses_n the_o
