all_o the_o horror_n and_o terror_n of_o death_n and_o hell_n they_o shall_v by_o mean_n thereof_o be_v solace_v and_o comfort_v this_o blood_n stream_v from_o the_o side_n of_o christ_n shall_v in_o the_o midst_n of_o their_o sorrow_n &_o grief_n and_o trouble_n and_o vexation_n be_v as_o a_o cup_n of_o the_o excellent_a wine_n to_o cheer_v they_o &_o revive_v their_o spirit_n and_o to_o inflame_v their_o zeal_n this_o wine_n have_v that_o efficasie_a and_o force_n in_o it_o that_o it_o will_v turn_v all_o the_o bitter_a potion_n that_o god_n child_n use_v to_o drink_v into_o wine_n the_o apostle_n of_o our_o saviour_n when_o they_o be_v drink_v deep_o of_o the_o whip_n this_o wine_n mingle_v with_o that_o bitter_a potion_n turn_v it_o also_o into_o wine_n insomuch_o as_o they_o rejoice_v that_o they_o be_v count_v worthy_a to_o suffer_v that_o which_o they_o do_v for_o christ_n sake_n that_o religion_n therefore_o which_o lock_n from_o the_o people_n the_o wine_n in_o this_o remembrance_n will_v not_o one_o think_v he_o shall_v rather_o need_v some_o mean_n to_o make_v he_o forget_v his_o love_n yet_o this_o be_v the_o strange_a disposition_n of_o all_o christian_n even_o of_o the_o best_a that_o though_o our_o condition_n be_v a_o thousand_o time_n more_o miserable_a than_o the_o condition_n of_o a_o turk_n galleyslave_n can_v be_v though_o christ_n jesus_n have_v do_v ten_o thousand_o time_n more_o for_o our_o freedom_n therefrom_o then_o be_v possible_a for_o any_o one_o man_n to_o do_v for_o another_o though_o whatsoever_o we_o enjoy_v we_o have_v it_o from_o his_o mercy_n and_o love_n our_o soul_n body_n sense_n wit_n beauty_n wealth_n life_n so_o as_o all_o our_o sense_n be_v so_o compass_v about_o with_o memorial_n of_o his_o love_n that_o we_o can_v see_v hear_v feel_v nor_o taste_v any_o thing_n but_o it_o may_v put_v we_o in_o mind_n of_o his_o love_n yea_o of_o his_o death_n and_o passion_n by_o which_o the_o free_a use_n of_o these_o thing_n have_v be_v purchase_v unto_o we_o yet_o for_o all_o this_o you_o see_v we_o stand_v in_o need_n of_o a_o more_o special_a remembrance_n yea_o and_o yet_o sinful_a wretch_n that_o we_o be_v we_o be_v ready_a to_o abuse_v these_o remembrance_n and_o which_o exceed_v wonder_n we_o be_v prone_a in_o the_o midst_n of_o they_o most_o of_o all_o to_o forget_v christ_n and_o his_o love_n towards_o we_o and_o then_o and_o therein_o ready_a to_o dishonour_v he_o we_o may_v hence_o further_o note_n that_o christ_n our_o saviour_n take_v it_o most_o kind_o when_o we_o remember_v and_o can_v understand_v every_o hard_a and_o difficult_a place_n thereof_o though_o they_o know_v all_o the_o ground_n and_o principle_n of_o the_o christian_a faith_n though_o they_o be_v able_a to_o answer_v all_o opposition_n against_o any_o divine_a truth_n yet_o for_o all_o this_o there_o will_v be_v use_n both_o of_o read_v the_o word_n &_o preach_v also_o in_o the_o church_n of_o god_n for_o let_v our_o knowledge_n be_v never_o so_o great_a yet_o if_o we_o be_v not_o often_o put_v in_o mind_n of_o it_o if_o we_o be_v not_o teach_v how_o in_o such_o and_o such_o particular_a case_n to_o apply_v it_o if_o by_o the_o power_n of_o christ_n ordinance_n it_o be_v not_o beat_v out_o of_o our_o head_n into_o our_o heart_n it_o will_v be_v as_o a_o dead_a letter_n unto_o we_o yea_o and_o most_o out_o of_o our_o head_n when_o we_o shall_v most_o use_v it_o for_o so_o be_v the_o particular_a knowledge_n of_o this_o sacrament_n in_o this_o church_n of_o corinth_n and_o so_o will_v the_o knowledge_n of_o this_o or_o of_o any_o truth_n else_o be_v if_o it_o be_v not_o reviue_v and_o quicken_v in_o we_o by_o daily_a teach_n &_o instruction_n chap._n x._o what_o it_o be_v to_o be_v guilty_a of_o the_o body_n and_o blood_n of_o christ._n hitherto_o of_o the_o doctrine_n of_o this_o sacrament_n the_o consequent_a of_o the_o doctrine_n follow_v whosoever_o therefore_o say_v the_o apostle_n shall_v eat_v this_o bread_n and_o drink_v the_o cup_n of_o the_o lord_n unworthy_o shall_v be_v guilty_a of_o the_o body_n &_o blood_n of_o christ_n we_o have_v in_o the_o consideration_n be_v pure_a or_o no._n for_o such_o a_o manner_n of_o trial_n the_o apostle_n word_n signify_v the_o lord_n can_v bid_v any_o welcome_n to_o his_o table_n but_o such_o as_o he_o be_v actual_o reconcile_v unto_o and_o who_o person_n be_v acceptable_a and_o well_o please_v unto_o he_o they_o who_o be_v such_o person_n have_v certain_a special_a gift_n and_o grace_n bestow_v upon_o they_o find_v no_o just_a matter_n of_o exception_n against_o he_o and_o many_o bear_v this_o mind_n that_o if_o they_o can_v so_o behave_v themselves_o as_o no_o man_n else_o can_v accuse_v they_o though_o for_o the_o strict_a inquisitor_n may_v free_v and_o acquit_v we_o when_o our_o own_o conscience_n have_v a_o thousand_o capital_a crime_n to_o arraign_v convict_v &_o condemn_v we_o of_o let_v we_o no_o man_n else_o be_v able_a to_o lay_v any_o special_a unworthiness_n to_o their_o charge_n but_o then_o the_o apostle_n will_v have_v send_v we_o to_o other_o and_o not_o to_o ourselves_o to_o be_v try_v and_o examine_v 2_o this_o duty_n of_o try_v and_o examine_v a_o man_n self_n be_v of_o use_n to_o the_o best_a of_o christian_n for_o many_o time_n none_o feel_v in_o themselves_o more_o want_n of_o grace_n than_o they_o do_v none_o be_v more_o deject_a with_o the_o sense_n and_o feel_n of_o their_o defect_n than_o they_o be_v and_o many_o time_n they_o think_v they_o want_v those_o grace_n most_o with_o which_o their_o soul_n be_v most_o rich_o adorn_v and_o thus_o much_o of_o the_o first_o duty_n which_o the_o apostle_n propound_v as_o a_o special_a mean_n to_o prevent_v the_o profane_v of_o this_o sacrament_n chap._n viii_o of_o the_o continuance_n in_o trial_n till_o we_o find_v that_o we_o seek_v for_o the_o other_o duty_n propound_v by_o the_o apostle_n but_o implicit_o be_v that_o we_o give_v not_o over_o try_v and_o search_v of_o ourselves_o until_o we_o find_v these_o grace_n in_o us._n for_o the_o apostle_n require_v of_o he_o that_o examine_v himself_o that_o he_o eat_v of_o this_o bread_n and_o drink_v of_o this_o cup._n what_o be_v he_o to_o do_v this_o whether_o in_o this_o search_n and_o trial_n he_o shall_v find_v any_o grace_n in_o himself_o or_o no_o to_o what_o end_n then_o shall_v a_o man_n make_v any_o such_o trial_n this_o case_n be_v clear_a that_o a_o man_n be_v not_o to_o receive_v this_o sacrament_n except_o after_o trial_n he_o so_o that_o the_o more_o dangerous_a it_o be_v to_o receive_v unworthy_o the_o more_o must_v we_o endeavour_v to_o be_v worthy_a receiver_n and_o hence_o the_o apostle_n infer_v this_o duty_n from_o the_o danger_n aforesaid_a as_o if_o he_o shall_v say_v every_o christian_n stand_v bind_v to_o receive_v this_o sacrament_n yet_o see_v the_o danger_n of_o unworthy_a receive_n be_v so_o great_a our_o duty_n be_v the_o more_o careful_o to_o study_v how_o we_o may_v be_v worthy_a receiver_n 2_o that_o all_o christian_n which_o be_v bind_v to_o receive_v be_v bind_v to_o make_v this_o trial_n before_o they_o receive_v 3_o that_o after_o we_o have_v make_v this_o trial_n it_o be_v a_o sin_n not_o to_o receive_v this_o sacrament_n chap._n ix_o of_o the_o curse_n that_o follow_v the_o
