have_v instruct_v we_o in_o the_o way_n of_o happiness_n by_o his_o excellent_a doctrine_n and_o precept_n and_o have_v go_v before_o we_o in_o a_o incomparable_a example_n and_o now_o he_o be_v just_a about_o to_o complete_a his_o love_n by_o offer_v himself_o unto_o death_n to_o deliver_v we_o from_o it_o and_o thereby_o to_o give_v a_o instance_n of_o the_o most_o amaze_a goodness_n that_o ever_o be_v at_o this_o time_n he_o injoine_v his_o disciple_n to_o do_v something_o in_o remembrance_n of_o he_o and_o lord_n what_o be_v sufficient_a to_o be_v do_v in_o memory_n of_o such_o love_n have_v he_o require_v the_o dear_a of_o our_o blood_n and_o the_o choice_a of_o our_o substance_n to_o be_v offer_v to_o he_o in_o acknowledgement_n shall_v we_o have_v think_v such_o demand_n unreasonable_a will_v ordinary_a ingenuity_n have_v scruple_v to_o make_v those_o sacrifice_n for_o such_o kindness_n but_o he_o call_v not_o for_o these_o he_o look_v for_o no_o first-born_a of_o our_o body_n nor_o chief_a of_o our_o flock_n no_o he_o appoint_v only_o a_o feast_n of_o memorial_n and_o command_v we_o to_o remember_v his_o love_n in_o that_o and_o shall_v we_o not_o observe_v he_o in_o so_o small_a a_o matter_n have_v he_o not_o deserve_v to_o be_v remember_v by_o we_o or_o do_v we_o know_v any_o better_a way_n to_o signify_v our_o remembrance_n of_o he_o then_o that_o which_o himself_o have_v prescribe_v shall_v we_o not_o do_v as_o much_o as_o this_o at_o the_o request_n of_o a_o ordinary_a die_a friend_n and_o be_v not_o the_o great_a and_o the_o best_a that_o ever_o creature_n have_v worthy_a of_o such_o a_o testimony_n of_o affection_n from_o we_o i_o be_o sure_a there_o be_v no_o one_o can_v be_v so_o brutish_a as_o to_o deny_v the_o justness_n of_o the_o duty_n and_o methinks_v none_o shall_v be_v so_o unworthy_a as_o to_o refuse_v compliance_n with_o it_o i_o beseech_v you_o therefore_o if_o the_o consideration_n of_o duty_n can_v do_v any_o thing_n with_o you_o if_o there_o be_v any_o obligation_n in_o the_o high_a authority_n if_o there_o be_v any_o allurement_n in_o the_o sweet_a love_n if_o your_o profession_n of_o subjection_n to_o christ_n be_v not_o only_o a_o compliment_n and_o if_o he_o have_v any_o real_a interest_n in_o your_o soul_n give_v this_o proof_n then_o of_o your_o be_v in_o earnest_n that_o which_o you_o will_v be_v think_v refuse_v no_o more_o of_o his_o invitation_n neglect_v no_o more_o of_o his_o call_n consider_v the_o expresness_n of_o his_o command_n and_o that_o this_o law_n be_v peculiar_o he_o his_o in_o such_o a_o sense_n as_o baptism_n except_v no_o other_o law_n be_v for_o his_o other_o injunction_n be_v but_o enforcement_n of_o the_o law_n that_o god_n have_v write_v in_o the_o old_a scripture_n and_o in_o our_o heart_n but_o this_o be_v his_o own_o proper_a commandment_n by_o obey_v he_o in_o this_o we_o particular_o own_v he_o as_o our_o lawgiver_n and_o by_o refuse_v we_o renounce_v he_o but_o if_o the_o consideration_n of_o duty_n shall_v not_o prove_v so_o powerful_a with_o you_o there_o be_v other_o which_o general_o use_v to_o be_v of_o more_o force_n namely_o those_o take_v from_o our_o interest_n and_o here_o two_o i_o desire_v you_o to_o consider_v the_o great_a benefit_n that_o a_o worthy_a communicant_a receive_v from_o the_o holy_a sacrament_n this_o be_v not_o a_o mere_a barren_a ceremony_n or_o unprofitable_a rite_n but_o a_o instrument_n and_o mean_n to_o produce_v and_o to_o convey_v unspeakable_a blessing_n to_o we_o here_o we_o receive_v 1_o confirmation_n of_o our_o faith_n all_o habit_n be_v increase_v by_o be_v exercise_v and_o this_o ordinance_n require_v great_a exercise_n of_o the_o grace_n of_o faith_n for_o here_o we_o make_v a_o solemn_a declaration_n of_o it_o and_o thereby_o bind_v it_o strong_a upon_o our_o soul_n and_o to_o the_o exercise_n of_o this_o divine_a grace_n and_o the_o sincere_a and_o public_a profession_n of_o it_o there_o be_v no_o doubt_n but_o god_n will_v superadd_a his_o special_a aid_n and_o blessing_n that_o out_o of_o weakness_n it_o may_v be_v make_v strong_a so_o that_o if_o your_o faith_n be_v weak_a and_o tremble_a if_o you_o be_v perplex_v with_o vexatious_a doubt_n and_o temptation_n to_o unbelief_n apply_v yourselves_o to_o this_o holy_a ordinance_n as_o to_o the_o proper_a remedy_n declare_v your_o faith_n and_o pray_v for_o more_o if_o you_o believe_v god_n will_v help_v your_o unbelief_n mark_v 9_o 24._o 2_o our_o repentance_n will_v be_v heighten_v by_o our_o due_a communicate_v at_o the_o lord_n table_n and_o that_o in_o respect_n of_o all_o its_o great_a act_n viz._n 1._o sense_n and_o
