yet_o do_v great_a thing_n for_o we_o than_o ever_o he_o have_v do_v indeed_o when_o we_o look_v upon_o ourselves_o we_o be_v at_o a_o end_n in_o our_o thought_n and_o think_v god_n be_v at_o a_o end_n in_o his_o mercy_n but_o when_o we_o look_v up_o towards_o god_n and_o see_v there_o the_o ground_n of_o what_o we_o have_v this_o keep_v up_o our_o heart_n from_o sink_v and_o cause_v we_o to_o look_v upon_o all_o we_o have_v as_o a_o earnest_n of_o more_o man_n that_o be_v at_o the_o top_n of_o a_o high_a place_n if_o they_o look_v downward_o their_o eye_n dazzle_v and_o their_o head_n grow_v dizzy_a but_o if_o they_o look_v up_o towards_o heaven_n they_o recover_v themselves_o again_o god_n have_v raise_v we_o up_o to_o some_o height_n of_o mercy_n and_o if_o we_o look_v downward_o if_o we_o look_v upon_o ourselves_o we_o be_v drive_v past_o the_o utmost_a of_o our_o thought_n but_o let_v we_o look_v up_o to_o heaven_n whence_o this_o mercy_n we_o have_v have_v its_o spring_n and_o foundation_n and_o we_o shall_v quick_o recover_v though_o there_o be_v nothing_o in_o we_o yet_o there_o be_v something_o in_o god_n and_o that_o which_o be_v in_o god_n be_v the_o ground_n of_o this_o mercy_n and_o therefore_o will_v he_o go_v on_o in_o the_o way_n of_o his_o own_o mercy_n i_o have_v often_o think_v within_o myself_o how_o far_o god_n at_o this_o time_n have_v outgo_v his_o people_n in_o mercy_n he_o have_v not_o only_o outgo_v the_o deserve_n of_o his_o people_n but_o outgo_v the_o desire_n of_o his_o people_n the_o prayer_n of_o his_o people_n and_o consult_v more_o when_o he_o come_v in_o a_o way_n of_o mercy_n to_o his_o church_n he_o add_v mercy_n to_o mercy_n god_n be_v oftentimes_o weary_a in_o go_v on_o in_o a_o way_n of_o judgement_n because_o the_o fail_v he_o do_v pray_v hear_v do_v duty_n which_o other_o do_v yet_o he_o be_v faulty_a in_o the_o manner_n of_o his_o obedience_n he_o do_v not_o pray_v in_o faith_n pray_v with_o affection_n he_o confess_v sin_n but_o a_o break_a spirit_n do_v not_o run_v through_o the_o confession_n of_o sin_n his_o heart_n be_v never_o touch_v with_o sin_n he_o pray_v for_o grace_n but_o his_o spirit_n be_v never_o touch_v with_o the_o beauty_n of_o grace_n nor_o carry_v after_o it_o with_o desire_n for_o it_o he_o look_v perhaps_o to_o the_o matter_n but_o neglect_v the_o manner_n he_o look_v after_o the_o substance_n but_o neglect_v the_o circumstance_n this_o be_v the_o difference_n between_o the_o gross_a hypocrite_n and_o the_o close_a hypocrite_n the_o gross_a hypocrite_n look_v after_o the_o circumstance_n not_o after_o the_o substance_n though_o indeed_o they_o be_v not_o such_o circumstance_n as_o these_o be_v they_o be_v but_o outward_a not_o inward_a the_o close_a hypocrite_n he_o look_v after_o the_o substance_n but_o neglect_v the_o circumstance_n he_o pray_v but_o never_o mind_n to_o pray_v in_o faith_n if_o a_o man_n pray_v and_o pray_v not_o fervent_o if_o he_o hear_v and_o hear_v not_o faithful_o if_o he_o obey_v and_o obey_v not_o willing_o if_o he_o show_v mercy_n and_o not_o cheerful_o if_o he_o keep_v the_o sabbath_n and_o not_o with_o delight_n all_o his_o service_n be_v nothing_o worth_a 3._o he_o be_v faulty_a in_o his_o aim_n and_o end_n his_o end_n be_v corrupt_a his_o aim_n be_v as_o his_o own_o end_n his_o own_o profit_n gain_n pride_n ostentation_n himself_o be_v the_o end_n of_o his_o obedience_n some_o way_n or_o other_o a_o man_n never_o wrought_v out_o of_o himself_o must_v needs_o work_v to_o himself_o and_o obedience_n which_o arise_v from_o a_o man_n self_n be_v terminate_v in_o a_o man_n self_n again_o it_o must_v be_v a_o principle_n from_o christ_n which_o carry_v the_o soul_n to_o christ_n a_o man_n can_v go_v no_o high_o than_o his_o principle_n and_o therefore_o have_v principle_n no_o high_o than_o himself_o his_o obedience_n must_v needs_o be_v terminate_v in_o himself_o as_o all_o river_n they_o run_v to_o the_o sea_n they_o come_v from_o the_o sea_n and_o therefore_o return_v back_o again_o to_o the_o sea_n so_o all_o those_o duty_n which_o arise_v from_o a_o man_n self_n must_v needs_o be_v spiritual_a performance_n do_v not_o arise_v from_o spiritual_a principle_n from_o a_o heart_n principled_a from_o above_o from_o a_o heart_n universal_o sanctify_v here_o be_v the_o bane_n of_o all_o
