spiritual_a light_n in_o the_o which_o thou_o may_v see_v the_o face_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n wherein_o thou_o may_v see_v a_o remedy_n in_o the_o death_n and_o passion_n of_o christ_n and_o wherein_o thou_o may_v see_v the_o bowel_n of_o mercy_n offer_v in_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n if_o thou_o have_v any_o spark_n of_o this_o light_n albeit_o it_o be_v never_o so_o little_a to_o direct_v thou_o and_o albeit_o this_o knowledge_n be_v never_o so_o much_o wound_v yet_o there_o be_v mercy_n enough_o for_o thou_o in_o christ_n but_o if_o thou_o close_v up_o all_o the_o window_n of_o thy_o soul_n and_o of_o thy_o heart_n and_o make_v they_o to_o become_v palpable_a darkness_n that_o thou_o neither_o know_v from_o whence_o the_o terror_n come_v nor_o yet_o perceive_v any_o remedy_n that_o be_v the_o misery_n of_o all_o misery_n we_o have_v many_o thing_n in_o general_a to_o lament_v concern_v the_o estate_n of_o this_o our_o country_n wherein_o we_o live_v also_o particular_o application_n there_o be_v not_o one_o of_o you_o but_o have_v great_a cause_n to_o take_v heed_n to_o your_o conscience_n now_o while_o you_o have_v time_n that_o you_o banish_v not_o altogether_o this_o light_n which_o be_v yet_o offer_v unto_o you_o and_o whereof_o some_o spark_n yet_o remain_v for_o i_o see_v the_o most_o part_n of_o man_n run_v headlong_o to_o banish_v the_o long_o as_o the_o lord_n offer_v you_o this_o light_n in_o time_n crave_v that_o of_o his_o mercy_n he_o will_v give_v you_o the_o grace_n to_o embrace_v it_o to_o take_v a_o new_a course_n and_o forbid_v we_o to_o have_v a_o care_n of_o our_o health_n it_o be_v lawful_a for_o we_o to_o seek_v such_o thing_n as_o may_v procure_v and_o preserve_v it_o but_o the_o health_n of_o thy_o soul_n stand_v in_o the_o health_n of_o thy_o conscience_n and_o in_o preserve_v thereof_o therefore_o by_o all_o law_n thou_o ought_v to_o attend_v thy_o conscience_n if_o thou_o keep_v thy_o conscience_n well_o thy_o soul_n be_v in_o health_n and_o if_o thy_o soul_n be_v in_o health_n let_v trouble_n come_v what_o will_v upon_o thy_o body_n thou_o will_v endure_v they_o all_o but_o if_o thy_o soul_n be_v at_o rest_n and_o in_o good_a health_n that_o trouble_n can_v not_o happen_v unto_o thy_o body_n but_o the_o strength_n of_o a_o good_a conscience_n will_v bear_v it_o out_o then_o have_v you_o not_o reason_n and_o more_o than_o reason_n to_o take_v heed_n to_o your_o conscience_n to_o try_v and_o examine_v your_o conscience_n in_o what_o estate_n and_o disposition_n they_o stand_v now_o because_o it_o be_v a_o fruitless_a thing_n to_o tell_v you_o that_o health_n be_v necessary_a conscience_n and_o not_o to_o show_v the_o way_n how_o this_o health_n may_v be_v obtain_v and_o preserve_v therefore_o to_o keep_v your_o conscience_n in_o quiet_a and_o good_a health_n i_o will_v give_v you_o these_o few_o lesson_n first_o of_o all_o be_v sure_a that_o thou_o retain_v a_o steadfast_a persuasion_n of_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n jesus_n examine_v when_o thou_o lie_v down_o and_o examine_v when_o thou_o rise_v up_o in_o what_o estate_n thou_o be_v with_o god_n whether_o thou_o may_v look_v for_o mercy_n
man_n but_o christ_n jesus_n have_v lock_v up_o and_o reserve_v the_o ministry_n of_o this_o heavenly_a thing_n to_o himself_o only_o therefore_o there_o be_v two_o giver_n in_o this_o sacrament_n the_o minister_n give_v the_o earthly_a thing_n christ_n jesus_n the_o mediator_n give_v you_o the_o heavenly_a thing_n in_o this_o sacrament_n for_o christ_n in_o give_v the_o earthly_a thing_n will_v not_o use_v his_o own_o ministry_n immediate_o nor_o the_o ministry_n of_o a_o angel_n but_o only_o the_o ministry_n of_o a_o earthly_a man_n and_o as_o for_o the_o dispensation_n of_o his_o own_o body_n &_o blood_n he_o will_v not_o give_v it_o either_o to_o heavenly_a creature_n or_o earthly_a man_n but_o he_o keep_v this_o ministry_n to_o himself_o and_o he_o dispense_v his_o own_o body_n and_o blood_n to_o who_o and_o when_o he_o please_v and_o why_o if_o any_o man_n in_o the_o world_n have_v power_n to_o give_v christ_n body_n &_o blood_n no_o question_n this_o man_n shall_v have_v power_n to_o cleanse_v the_o heart_n &_o conscience_n for_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n have_v this_o power_n with_o it_o and_o consequent_o shall_v have_v power_n to_o forgive_v sin_n now_o fantasy_n and_o opinion_n fleet_v in_o the_o heart_n of_o man_n i_o can_v blame_v they_o to_o think_v so_o of_o faith_n for_o as_o none_o can_v judge_v of_o the_o sweetness_n of_o honey_n but_o they_o that_o have_v taste_v of_o it_o so_o there_o be_v none_o can_v discern_v nor_o judge_v of_o the_o nature_n of_o faith_n but_o they_o that_o have_v feel_v it_o
and_o taste_v in_o their_o heart_n what_o it_o be_v and_o if_o they_o have_v taste_v and_o feel_v in_o their_o soul_n what_o faith_n bring_v with_o it_o alas_o they_o will_v not_o call_v that_o spirirituall_a jewel_n and_o only_a â—ewell_n of_o the_o soul_n a_o imagination_n they_o call_v it_o a_o imagination_n and_o the_o apostle_n describe_v it_o heb._n 11.1_o call_v it_o a_o substance_n and_o substantial_a ground_n mark_v how_o well_o these_o two_o agree_v a_o imagination_n and_o a_o substantial_a ground_n they_o call_v it_o a_o uncertain_a opinion_n fleet_v in_o the_o brain_n and_o fantasy_n of_o man_n he_o call_v it_o a_o evidence_n and_o demonstration_n in_o the_o same_o definition_n see_v how_o direct_o contrary_a the_o apostle_n and_o they_o be_v in_o the_o nature_n of_o faith_n upon_o this_o they_o infer_v that_o as_o it_o be_v true_a in_o general_n he_o can_v not_o be_v deliver_v nor_o give_v but_o that_o same_o way_n that_o he_o be_v receive_v and_o look_v what_o way_n any_o thing_n be_v receive_v the_o same_o way_n it_o be_v give_v and_o deliver_v so_o as_o they_o say_v he_o be_v receive_v by_o way_n of_o imagination_n he_o be_v also_o in_o their_o fantasy_n give_v and_o deliver_v by_o way_n of_o imagination_n for_o if_o he_o be_v not_o give_v say_v they_o to_o thy_o hand_n to_o thy_o mouth_n nor_o to_o thy_o stomach_n corporal_o he_o can_v be_v give_v but_o by_o a_o imagination_n and_o fantastical_a opinion_n the_o reason_n that_o move_v they_o to_o think_v that_o christ_n can_v be_v they_o nor_o give_v to_o they_o true_o in_o effect_n and_o real_o except_o he_o be_v give_v carnal_o be_v this_o that_o thing_n which_o be_v so_o far_o absent_a and_o distant_a from_o we_o as_o the_o heaven_n be_v from_o the_o earth_n can_v be_v say_v to_o be_v give_v we_o nor_o to_o be_v we_o but_o by_o our_o own_o confession_n say_v they_o to_o we_o christ_n his_o body_n be_v as_o far_o absent_a from_o we_o as_o the_o heaven_n be_v from_o the_o earth_n therefore_o christ_n his_o body_n nor_o his_o flesh_n can_v be_v give_v unto_o we_o except_o by_o way_n of_o imagination_n and_o so_o not_o true_o nor_o in_o effect_n this_o argument_n frame_v in_o whether_o be_v this_o proposition_n true_a or_o false_a i_o say_v this_o proposition_n be_v untrue_a and_o the_o contrary_n most_o true_a a_o thing_n may_v be_v give_v to_o we_o and_o may_v become_v we_o though_o the_o thing_n in_o person_n itself_o be_v as_o far_o distant_a from_o we_o as_o the_o heaven_n be_v from_o the_o earth_n and_o how_o prove_v i_o this_o what_o make_v any_o thing_n to_o be_v we_o what_o make_v any_o of_o you_o esteem_v a_o thing_n to_o be_v give_v unto_o you_o be_v it_o not_o a_o title_n be_v it_o not_o a_o just_a right_n to_o that_o thing_n if_o you_o have_v a_o just_a right_o give_v unto_o you_o by_o he_o who_o have_v power_n to_o give_v it_o and_o a_o sure_a title_n confirm_v to_o you_o by_o he_o who_o have_v the_o power_n though_o the_o thing_n that_o he_o give_v unto_o you_o be_v not_o deliver_v into_o your_o hand_n yet_o by_o the_o right_n and_o title_n which_o he_o grant_v to_o you_o be_v not_o the_o thing_n you_o there_o be_v no_o doubt_n of_o it_o for_o it_o be_v not_o the_o neerne_v of_o the_o thing_n to_o my_o body_n &_o to_o my_o hand_n that_o make_v the_o thing_n i_o for_o it_o may_v be_v in_o my_o hand_n and_o yet_o not_o belong_v to_o i_o neither_o be_v it_o the_o distance_n nor_o absence_n of_o the_o thing_n that_o make_v it_o not_o to_o be_v i_o but_o it_o may_v be_v far_o absent_a from_o i_o and_o yet_o be_v i_o becave_a the_o title_n be_v i_o and_o because_o i_o have_v get_v a_o right_a to_o it_o from_o he_o who_o have_v the_o power_n to_o give_v it_o so_o then_o this_o ground_n be_v true_a it_o be_v a_o sure_a title_n and_o a_o just_a right_n that_o make_v a_o thing_n though_o it_o be_v far_o distant_a from_o we_o to_o be_v we_o but_o so_o it_o be_v that_o a_o livelie_a and_o true_a faith_n in_o the_o blood_n and_o death_n of_o christ_n make_v we_o to_o have_v a_o sure_a title_n and_o a_o good_a right_n to_o the_o flesh_n and_o blood_n of_o christ_n and_o to_o his_o merit_n look_v what_o he_o merit_v by_o his_o virtue_n of_o his_o holy_a spirit_n and_o therefore_o the_o apostle_n say_v 1._o cor._n 12.13_o that_o by_o the_o mean_n of_o his_o holy_a spirit_n all_o we_o who_o be_v faithful_a man_n
only_o if_o this_o be_v so_o he_o may_v be_v private_o give_v and_o minister_v but_o see_v christ_n which_o be_v the_o thing_n signify_v in_o the_o sacrament_n be_v a_o common_a thing_n belong_v to_o
