bread_n his_o body_n for_o that_o which_o he_o take_v be_v very_o bread_n in_o this_o all_o man_n do_v agree_v and_o that_o which_o he_o take_v after_o he_o have_v give_v thanks_o he_o break_v and_o needs_o have_v another_o meaning_n which_o meaning_n appear_v plain_o what_o it_o be_v by_o the_o next_o sentence_n that_o follow_v immediate_o both_o in_o luke_n and_o in_o paul_n and_o that_o be_v this_o do_v this_o in_o remembrance_n of_o i_o whereupon_o it_o seem_v unto_o i_o to_o be_v evident_a that_o christ_n do_v take_v bread_n and_o call_v it_o his_o body_n for_o that_o he_o will_v institute_v thereby_o a_o perpetual_a remembrance_n of_o his_o body_n special_o of_o that_o singular_a benefit_n of_o our_o redemption_n which_o he_o will_v then_o procure_v &_o purchase_v unto_o we_o by_o his_o body_n upon_o the_o cross._n but_o bread_n retain_v still_o its_o own_o very_a natural_a substance_n may_v be_v thus_o by_o grace_n and_o in_o a_o sacramental_a signification_n his_o body_n whereas_o else_o the_o very_a bread_n which_o he_o take_v break_v and_o give_v they_o can_v not_o be_v in_o any_o wise_a his_o natural_a body_n for_o that_o be_v confusion_n of_o substance_n and_o therefore_o the_o very_a word_n of_o christ_n join_v to_o the_o next_o sentence_n follow_v both_o enforce_v we_o to_o confess_v the_o very_a bread_n to_o remain_v still_o and_o also_o open_v unto_o we_o how_o that_o bread_n may_v be_v and_o be_v thus_o by_o his_o divine_a power_n his_o body_n which_o be_v give_v for_o we_o but_o here_o i_o remember_v that_o i_o have_v read_v in_o some_o writer_n it_o yet_o because_o in_o blessing_n it_o he_o change_v the_o substance_n of_o it_o he_o break_v not_o the_o bread_n which_o then_o be_v not_o there_o but_o only_o the_o form_n thereof_o unto_o this_o objection_n i_o have_v two_o plain_a answer_n both_o ground_v upon_o god_n word_n the_o one_o i_o will_v rehearse_v here_o the_o other_o answer_v i_o will_v defer_v until_o i_o speak_v of_o the_o sacrament_n of_o the_o blood_n my_o answer_n here_o be_v take_v out_o of_o the_o plain_a word_n of_o st._n paul_n which_o do_v manifest_o confound_v this_o fantastical_a invention_n first_o invent_v i_o ween_v of_o pope_n innocentius_n and_o after_o confirm_v by_o the_o subtle_a sophist_n dunse_n and_o late_o renew_v now_o in_o our_o day_n with_o a_o eloquent_a stile_n and_o much_o fineness_n of_o wit_n but_o what_o can_v crafty_a invention_n subtlety_n in_o sophism_n eloquence_n or_o fineness_n of_o wit_n prevail_v against_o the_o infallible_a word_n of_o god_n what_o need_v we_o to_o contend_v and_o strive_v what_o thing_n we_o break_v for_o paul_n say_v speak_v undoubted_o of_o the_o lord_n table_n the_o bread_n say_v he_o which_o we_o break_v be_v it_o not_o the_o partake_n
or_o fellowship_n of_o the_o lord_n body_n whereupon_o it_o follow_v that_o after_o the_o thanksgiving_n it_o be_v bread_n which_o we_o break_v and_o how_o often_o in_o the_o act_n of_o the_o apostle_n be_v the_o lord_n supper_n signify_v by_o break_v of_o bread_n they_o do_v per_fw-mi severe_a in_o break_v of_o bread_n and_o again_o they_o break_v bread_n in_o every_o house_n and_o again_o when_o they_o be_v come_v together_o to_o break_v bread_n st._n paul_n who_o set_v forth_o most_o full_o in_o his_o writing_n both_o the_o doctrine_n and_o the_o right_a use_n of_o the_o lord_n supper_n and_o the_o sacramental_a eat_n and_o drink_v of_o christ_n body_n &_o blood_n call_v it_o 5_o time_n bread_n bread_n etc._n etc._n the_o second_o reason_n the_o sacramental_a bread_n be_v the_o mystical_a body_n and_o so_o be_v call_v in_o scripture_n 1_o cor._n 10._o as_o it_o be_v call_v the_o natural_a body_n of_o christ._n but_o christ_n mystical_a body_n be_v the_o congregation_n of_o the_o christian_n now_o no_o man_n be_v ever_o so_o fond_a as_o to_o say_v that_o that_o sacramental_a bread_n be_v transubstantiate_v and_o change_v into_o the_o substance_n of_o the_o congregation_n wherefore_o no_o man_n shall_v likewise_o think_v or_o say_v that_o the_o bread_n be_v transubstantiate_v and_o change_v into_o the_o natural_a substance_n of_o christ_n human_a nature_n but_o my_o mind_n be_v not_o here_o to_o write_v what_o may_v be_v gather_v out_o of_o scripture_n for_o this_o purpose_n but_o only_o to_o note_v here_o brief_o those_o which_o seem_v unto_o i_o to_o be_v the_o most_o plain_a place_n therefore_o content_v to_o have_v speak_v thus_o much_o of_o the_o sacramental_a bread_n now_o i_o will_v speak_v a_o little_a of_o the_o lord_n cup._n and_o this_o shall_v be_v my_o three_o argument_n ground_v upon_o christ_n own_o word_n the_o natural_a substance_n of_o the_o sacramental_a wine_n remain_v still_o and_o be_v the_o material_a substance_n of_o the_o sacrament_n of_o the_o blood_n of_o christ._n therefore_o it_o be_v likewise_o so_o in_o the_o sacramental_a bread_n i_o know_v that_o he_o that_o be_v of_o the_o contrary_a opinion_n will_v deny_v the_o former_a part_n of_o my_o argument_n but_o i_o will_v prove_v it_o thus_o by_o the_o plain_a word_n of_o christ_n himself_o both_o in_o matth_n and_o in_o mark_n christ_n word_n be_v these_o after_o the_o word_n say_v upon_o the_o cup_n i_o say_v unto_o you_o say_v christ_n i_o will_v not_o drink_v henceforth_o of_o this_o fruit_n of_o the_o vine-tree_n until_o i_o shall_v drink_v that_o anew_o in_o my_o father_n kingdom_n here_o note_v how_o christ_n call_v plain_o his_o cup_n the_o fruit_n of_o the_o vine-tree_n but_o the_o fruit_n of_o the_o vine-tree_n be_v very_o natural_a wine_n wherefore_o the_o very_a natural_a substance_n of_o the_o wine_n do_v remain_v still_o in_o the_o sacrament_n of_o christ_n blood_n and_o here_o in_o speak_v of_o the_o lord_n cup_n it_o come_v to_o my_o remembrance_n the_o vanity_n of_o innocentius_n fantastical_a invention_n which_o by_o paul_n word_n i_o do_v confute_v before_o and_o here_o do_v promise_v somewhat_o more_o to_o speak_v and_o that_o be_v thus_o if_o the_o transubstantiation_n be_v make_v by_o this_o word_n blessed_n in_o mark_n say_v upon_o the_o bread_n then_o sure_o see_v that_o word_n be_v not_o say_v of_o christ_n neither_o of_o any_o of_o the_o evangelist_n nor_o of_o paul_n upon_o the_o cup_n than_o there_o be_v no_o transubstantiation_n of_o the_o wine_n at_o all_o for_o where_o the_o cause_n do_v fail_v there_o can_v follow_v the_o effect_n but_o the_o sacramental_a bread_n and_o the_o sacramental_a wine_n do_v both_o remain_v in_o their_o natural_a substance_n alike_o and_o if_o the_o one_o be_v not_o change_v as_o of_o the_o sacramental_a wine_n it_o appear_v evident_o then_o be_v there_o no_o such_o transubstantiation_n in_o either_o of_o they_o both_o all_o that_o put_v and_o affirm_v this_o change_n of_o the_o substance_n of_o bread_n and_o wine_n into_o the_o substance_n of_o christ_n body_n and_o blood_n call_v transubstantiation_n do_v also_o say_v and_o affirm_v this_o change_n to_o be_v make_v by_o a_o certain_a form_n of_o prescript_n word_n and_o none_o other_o but_o what_o they_o be_v which_o make_v the_o change_n either_o of_o the_o one_o or_o of_o the_o other_o undoubted_o even_o they_o which_o write_v most_o sincere_o in_o these_o our_o day_n almost_o confess_v plain_o that_o they_o can_v tell_v for_o although_o they_o grant_v to_o certain_a old_a author_n as_o chrysostom_n and_o ambrose_n that_o these_o word_n this_o be_v my_o body_n be_v the_o word_n of_o consecration_n of_o the_o sacrament_n of_o the_o body_n yet_o say_v they_o these_o word_n may_v well_o be_v so_o call_v because_o they_o do_v assure_v we_o of_o the_o consecration_n thereof_o whether_o it_o be_v do_v before_o these_o word_n be_v speak_v or_o no._n but_o as_o for_o this_o their_o doubt_n concern_v the_o sacrament_n of_o the_o body_n i_o let_v it_o pass_v let_v we_o now_o consider_v the_o word_n which_o pertain_v unto_o the_o cup._n this_o be_v first_o evident_a that_o as_o matthew_n much_o agree_v with_o mark_n and_o luke_n with_o paul_n in_o form_n of_o word_n concern_v the_o sacrament_n of_o the_o body_n so_o in_o this_o sacrament_n of_o the_o cup_n the_o form_n of_o word_n in_o matthew_n and_o mark_n be_v divers_a from_o that_o which_o be_v in_o luke_n and_o paul_n the_o old_a author_n do_v most_o rehearse_v the_o form_n of_o word_n in_o matthew_n and_o mark_v because_o i_o ween_v they_o seem_v to_o they_o more_o clear_a but_o here_o i_o will_v know_v whether_o it_o be_v not_o credible_a or_o no_o that_o luke_n and_o paul_n when_o they_o celebrate_v the_o lord_n supper_n with_o their_o congregation_n that_o they_o do_v not_o use_v the_o same_o form_n of_o word_n at_o the_o lord_n table_n which_o they_o write_v of_o luke_n because_o he_o be_v a_o physician_n whether_o some_o will_v grant_v that_o he_o may_v be_v a_o priest_n or_o no_o and_o be_v able_a to_o receive_v the_o order_n of_o priesthood_n which_o they_o say_v be_v give_v by_o virtue_n of_o these_o word_n say_v by_o the_o bishop_n take_v thou_o authority_n to_o sacrifice_n for_o the_o quick_a and_o dead_a i_o can_v tell_v but_o if_o they_o shall_v be_v so_o straight_o upon_o luke_n either_o for_o his_o craft_n or_o else_o for_o lack_v of_o such_o power_n give_v unto_o he_o by_o virtue_n of_o the_o aforesaid_a word_n than_o i_o ween_v both_o peter_n and_o paul_n be_v in_o danger_n to_o be_v depose_v of_o their_o priesthood_n for_o the_o craft_n either_o of_o fish_v which_o be_v peter_n or_o of_o make_v tent_n which_o be_v paul_n be_v more_o vile_a than_o the_o science_n of_o physic_n and_o as_o for_o these_o sacramental_a word_n of_o the_o order_n of_o priesthood_n to_o have_v authority_n to_o sacrifice_n both_o for_o the_o quick_a and_o the_o dead_a i_o ween_v peter_n and_o paul_n if_o they_o be_v both_o alive_a be_v not_o able_a to_o prove_v that_o ever_o christ_n give_v they_o such_o authority_n or_o ever_o say_v any_o such_o word_n unto_o they_o but_o i_o will_v let_v luke_n go_v and_o because_o paul_n speak_v more_o for_o he_o himself_o i_o will_v rehearse_v his_o word_n that_o which_o i_o receive_v of_o the_o lord_n i_o give_v unto_o you_o for_o the_o lord_n jesus_n etc._n etc._n and_o so_o he_o fet_v forth_o the_o whole_a institution_n and_o right_a use_n of_o the_o lord_n supper_n now_o see_v paul_n here_o say_v that_o he_o receive_v of_o the_o lord_n that_o which_o he_o give_v they_o and_o that_o which_o he_o have_v receive_v &_o give_v they_o before_o by_o word_n of_o mouth_n now_o he_o reherse_v and_o write_v the_o same_o in_o his_o epistle_n it_o be_v credible_a that_o paul_n will_v never_o have_v use_v this_o form_n of_o word_n upon_o the_o lord_n cup_n except_o as_o he_o say_v he_o have_v receive_v they_o of_o the_o lord_n and_o that_o he_o have_v give_v they_o before_o and_o now_o reherse_v the_o same_o in_o his_o epistle_n i_o trust_v no_o man_n be_v so_o far_o from_o reason_n but_o he_o will_v grant_v i_o that_o paul_n do_v use_v the_o form_n of_o word_n which_o he_o write_v let_v we_o then_o consider_v paul_n word_n which_o he_o say_v christ_n speak_v upon_o the_o cup_n this_o cup_n be_v the_o new_a testament_n in_o my_o blood_n this_o do_v as_o often_o as_o you_o shall_v drink_v it_o in_o remembrance_n of_o i_o here_o i_o will_v know_v whether_o that_o christ_n word_n speak_v upon_o the_o cup_n be_v not_o as_o mighty_a in_o work_n and_o as_o effectual_a in_o signification_n as_o they_o that_o be_v speak_v upon_o the_o bread_n if_o this_o be_v grant_v which_o i_o think_v no_o man_n can_v deny_v then_o further_o i_o
