the altar which is before the LORD that is in the tabernacle of the congregation and shall pour out all the bloud at the bottom of the altar of the burnt-offering which is at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation 19 And he shall take all his fat from him and burn it upon the altar 20 And he shall do with the bullock as he did with the bullock for a sin-offering so shall he do with this and the priest shall make an atonement for them and it shall be forgiven them 21 And he shall carry forth the bullock without the camp and burn him as he burned the first bullock it is a sin-offering for the congregation 22 ¶ When a ruler hath sinned and done somewhat through ignorance against any of the commandments of the LORD his God concerning things which should not be done and is guilty 23 Or if his sin wherein he hath sinned come to his knowledge he shall bring his offering a kid of the goats a male without blemish 24 And he shall lay his hand upon the head of the goat and kill it in the place where they kill the burnt offering before the LORD it is a sin-offering 25 And the priest shall take of the bloud of the sin-offering with his finger and put it upon the horns of the altar of burnt-offering and shall pour out his bloud at the bottom of the altar of burnt-offering 26 And he shall burn all his fat upon the altar as the fat of the sacrifice of peace-offerings and the priest shall make an atonement for him as concerning his sin and it shall be forgiven him 27 ¶ And if † Heb. any soul any one of the † Heb. people of the land common people sin through ignorance while he doth somewhat against any of the commandments of the LORD concerning things which ought not to be done and be guilty 28 Or if his sin which he hath sinned come to his knowledge then he shall bring his offering a kid of the goats a female without blemish for his sin which he hath sinned 29 And he shall lay his hand upon the head of the sin-offering and slay the sin-offering in the place of shall lay his hand upon the head of the sin-offering and slay it for a sin-offering in the place where they kill the burnt-offering 34 And the priest shall take of the bloud of the sin-offering with V. 1 He that sinneth in concealing his knowledge 2 in touching an
unclean thing 4 or in making an oath 6 His trespass-offering of the flock 7 of fowls 11 or of flour 14 The trespass-offering in sacriledge 17 and in sins of ignorance ANd if a soul sin and hear the voice of swearing and is a witness whether he hath seen or known of it if he do not utter it then he shall bear his iniquity 2 Or if a soul touch any unclean thing whether it be a carcase of an unclean beast or a carcase of unclean cattel or the carcase of unclean creeping things and if it be hidden from him he also shall be unclean and guilty 3 Or if he touch the uncleanness of man whatsoever uncleanness it be that a man shall be defiled withal and it be hid from him when he knoweth of it then he shall be guilty 4 Or if a soul swear pronouncing with his lips to do evil or to do good whatsoever it be that a man shall pronounce with an oath and it be hid from him when he knoweth of it then he shall be guilty in one of these 5 And it shall be when he shall be guilty in one of these things that he shall confess that he hath sinned in that thing 6 And he shall bring his trespass-offering unto the LORD for his sin which he hath sinned a female from the flock a lamb or a kid of the goats for a sin offering and the priest shall make an atonement for him concerning his sin 7 And if † Heb. his hand cannot reach to the sufficiency of a lamb he be not able to bring a lamb then he shall bring for his trespass which he hath committed two turtle-doves or two young pigeons unto the LORD one for a sin-offering and the other for a burnt-offering 8 And he shall bring them unto the priest who shall offer that which is for the sin-offering first and * Ch. 1.15 wring off his head from his neck but shall not divide it asunder 9 And he shall sprinkle of the bloud of the sin-offering upon the side of the altar and the rest of the bloud shall be wrung out at the bottom of the altar it is a sin-offering 10 And he shall offer the second for a burnt-offering according to the ‖ Or ordinance manner and the priest shall make an atonement for him for his sin which he had sinned and it shall be forgiven him 11 ¶ But if he be not able to bring two turtle-doves or two young pigeons then he that sinned shall bring for his offering the tenth part of an ephah of fine flour for a sin-offering he shall put no oyl upon it neither shall he put any frankincense thereon for it is a sin-offering 12 Then shall he bring it to the priest and the priest shall take his handful of it * Ch. 2.2 even a memorial thereof and burn it on the altar * Ch. 4.35 according to the offerings made by fire unto the LORD it is a sin-offering 13 And the priest shall make an atonement for him as touching his sin that he hath sinned in one of these and it shall be forgiven him and the remnant shall be the priests as a meat-offering 14 ¶ And the LORD spake unto Moses saying 15 If a soul commit a trespass and sin through ignorance in the holy things of the LORD then he shall bring for his trespass unto the LORD a ram without blem●sh out of the flocks with thy estimation by shekels of silver after the shekel of the sanctuary for a trespass offering 16 And he shall make amends for the harm that he hath done in the holy thing and shall add the fifth part thereto and give it unto the priest and the priest shall make an atonement for him with the ram of the trespass-offering and it shall be forgiven him 17 ¶ And if a * Chap. ● 2 soul sin and commit any of these things which are forbidden to be done by the commandments of the LORD though he wist it not yet is he guilty and shall bear his iniquity 18 And he shall bring a ram without blemish out of the flock with thy estimation for a trespass offering unto the priest and the priest shall make an atonement for him concerning his ignorance wherein he erred and wist it not and it shall be forgiven him 10 It is a trespass offering he hath certainly trespassed against the LORD CHAP. VI. 1 The trespass-offering for sins done wittingly 8 The law of the burnt-offering 14 and of the meat-offering 19 The offering at the consecration of a priest 24 The law of the sin-offering ANd the LORD spake unto Moses saying 2 If a soul sin and commit a trespass against the LORD and lie unto his neighbour in that which was delivered him to keep or in ‖ Or 〈◊〉 ●●a●ing † Heb. putting of the hand fellowship or in a thing taken away by violence or hath deceived his neighbour 3 Or have found that which was lost and lieth concerning it and * Numb 5.6 sweareth fal●ly in any of all these that a man doeth sinning therein 4 Then it shall be because he hath sinned and is guilty that he shall restore that which he took violently away or the thing which he hath deceitfully gotten or that which was delivered him to keep or the lost thing which he found 5 Or all that about which he hath sworn falsly he shall even * Chap 5.16 restore it in the principal and shall add the fifth part more thereto and give it unto him to whom it appertaineth ‖ Or in the day of his being found guilty † Heb. in the day of his trespas● in the day of his trespass-offering 6 And he shall bring his trespass-offering unto the LORD a ram without blemish out of the * Ch. 5.15 flock with thy estimation for a trespass-offering unto the priest 7 And the priest shall make an atonement for him before the LORD and it shall be forgiven him for any thing of all that he hath done in trespassing therein 8 ¶ And the LORD spake unto Moses saying 9 Command Aaron and his sons saying This is the law of the burnt-offering It is the burnt-offering ‖ Or for the burning because of the burning upon the altar all night unto the morning the fire of the altar shall be burning in it 10 And the priest shall put on his linen garment and his linen breeches shall he put upon his flesh and take up the ashes which the fire hath consumed with the burnt-offering on the altar and he shall put them besides the altar 11 And he shall put off his garments and put on other garments and carry forth the ashes without the camp unto a clean place 12 And the fire upon the altar shall be burning in it it shall not be put out and the priest shall burn wood on it every morning and lay the burnt-offering in order upon it and he shall burn thereon

VIII 1 Moses consecrateth Aaron and his sons 14 Their sin-offering 18 Their burnt-offering 22 The ram of consecrations 31 The place and time of their consecration ANd the LORD spake unto Moses saying 2 Take Aaron and his sons with him and * Ex. 28.2 4 the garments and * Ex. 30.24 the anointing oyl and a bullock for the sin-offering and two rams and a basket of unleavened bread 3 And gather thou all the congregation together unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation 4 And Moses did as the LORD commanded him and the assembly was gathered together unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation 5 And Moses said unto the congregation * Exod. 29.4 This is the thing which the LORD commanded to be done 6 And Moses brought Aaron his sons washed them with water 7 And he put upon him the coat and girded him with the girdle and clothed him with the robe and put the ephod upon him and he girded him with the curious girdle of the ephod and bound it unto him therewith 8 And he put the breast-plate upon him also he * Exod. 28.30 put in the breast-plate the Urim and Thummim 9 And he put the mitre upon his head also upon the mitre even upon his forefront did he put the golden plate the holy crown as the LORD * Exod. 28.39 c. commanded Moses 10 And Moses took the anointing oyl and anointed the tabernacle and all that was therein and sanctified them 11 And he sprinkled thereof upon the altar seven times and anointed the altar all his vessels both the laver his foot to sanctifie them 12 And he * Ps 133.2 Ecclus 45.15 poured of the anointing oyl upon Aarons head and anointed him to sanctifie him 13 And Moses brought Aarons sons and put coats upon them and girded them with girdles and † Heb. bound put bonnets upon them as the LORD commanded Moses 14 * Exod. 29.1 And he brought the bullock for the sin-offering and Aaron and his sons laid their hands upon the head of the bullock for the sin-offering 15 And he slew it and Moses took the bloud and put it upon the horns of the altar round about with his finger and purified the altar and poured the bloud at the bottom of the altar and sanctified it to make reconciliation upon it 16 And he took all the fat that was upon the inwards and the caul above the liver and the two kidneys and their fat and Moses burned it upon the altar 17 But the bullock and his hide his flesh and his dung he burnt with fire without the camp as the LORD * Ex. 29.14 commanded Moses 18 ¶ And he brought the ram for the burnt-offering and Aaron and his sons laid their hands upon the head of the ram 19 And he killed it and Moses sprinkled the bloud upon the altar round about 20 And he cut the ram into pieces and Moses burnt the head and the pieces and the fat 21 And he washed the inwards and the legs in water and Moses burnt the whole ram upon the altar it was a burnt-sacrifice for a sweet savour and an offering made by fire unto the LORD as the LORD commanded Moses 22 ¶ And * Ex. 29.31 he brought the other ram the ram of consecration and Aaron and his sons laid their hands upon the head of the ram 23 And he slew it and Moses took of the bloud of it and put it upon the tip of Aarons right ear and upon the thumb of his right hand and upon the great toe of his right foot 24 And he brought Aarons sons and Moses put of the bloud upon the tip of their right ear and upon the thumbs of their right hands upon the great toes of their right feet and Moses sprinkled the bloud upon the altar round about 25 And he took the fat and the rump and all the fat that was upon the inwards and the caul above the liver and the two kidneys and their fat and the right shoulder 26 And out of the basket of unleavened bread that was before the LORD he took one unleavened cake and a cake of oyled bread and one wafer and put them on the fat and upon the right shoulder 27 And he put all * Ex. 27.24 c. upon Aarons hands and upon his sons hands and waved them for a wave-offering before the LORD 28 And Moses took them
¶ And king Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria and saw an altar that was at Damascus and king Ahaz sent to Urijah the priest the fashion of the altar and the pattern of it according to all the workmanship thereof 11 And Urijah the priest built an altar according to all that king Ahaz had sent from Damascus so Urijah the priest made it against king Ahaz came from Damascus 12 And when the king was come from Damascus the king saw the altar and the king approached to the altar and offered thereon 13 And he burnt his burnt-offering and his meat-offering and poured his drink-offering and sprinkled the bloud of † Heb. which were his his peace-offerings upon the altar 14 And he brought also the brasen altar which was before the LORD from the forefront of the house from between the altar and the house of the LORD and put it on the north-side of the altar 15 And king Ahaz commanded Urijah the priest saying Upon the great altar burn the morning burnt-offering and the evening meat-offering and the kings burnt-sacrifice and his meat-offering with the burnt-offering of all the people of the land and their meat-offering and their dring-offerings and sprinkle upon it all the bloud of the burnt-offering and all the bloud of the sacrifice and the brasen altar shall be for me to enquire by 16 Thus did Urijah the priest according to all that king Ahaz commanded 17 ¶ And king Ahaz cut off the borders of the bases and removed the laver from off them and took down the sea from off the brasen oxen that were under it and put it upon a pavement of stones 18 And the covert for the sabbath that they had built in the house and the kings entry without turned he from the house of the LORD for the king of Assyria 19 ¶ Now the rest of the acts of Ahaz which he did are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah 20 And Ahaz slept with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David and Hezekiah his son reigned in his stead CHAP. XVII 1 Hoshea his wicked reign 3 Being subdued by Shalmaneser he conspireth against him with So king of Egypt 5 Samaria for their sins is captivated 24 The strange nations which were transplanted in Samaria being plagued with lions make a mixture of religions IN the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah began Hoshea the son of Elah to reign in Samaria over Israel nine years 2 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD but not as the kings of Israel that were before him 3 ¶ Against him came up Shalmaneser king of Assyria and Hoshea became his servant and † Heb. rendres gave him a presents 4 And the king of Assyria found conspiracy in Hoshea for he had sent messengers to So king of Egypt ‖ Or tribute and brought no present to the king of Assyria as he had done year by year therefore the king of Assyria shut him up and bound him in prison 5 ¶ Then the king of Assyria came up throughout all the land and went up to Samaria and besieged it three years 6 ¶ * Chap. 18.10 In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria and carried Israel away into Assyria and placed them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan and in the cities of the Medes 7 For so it was that the children of Israel had sinned against the LORD their God which had brought them up out of the land of Egypt from under the hand of Paraoh king of Egypt and had feared other gods 8 And walked in the statutes of the heathen whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel and of the kings of Israel which they had made 9 And the children of Israel did secretly those things that were not right against the LORD their God and they built them high places in all their cities from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city 10 And they set them up † Heb. statute images and groves in every high hill and under every green tree 11 And there they burnt incense in all the high places as did the heathen whom the LORD carried away before them and wrought wicked things to provoke the LORD to anger 12 For they served idols whereof the LORD had said unto them * Deut. 4.10 Ye shall not do this thing 13 Yet the LORD testified against Israel and against Judah † Heb. be the hand of all by all the prophets and by all the seers saying * Jer. 18.11 and 25.5 and 35.15 Turn ye from your evil ways and keep my commandments and my statutes according to all the law which I commanded your fathers and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets 14 Notwithstanding they would not hear but * Deut. 31.27 hardened their necks like to the neck of their fathers that did not beleeve in the LORD their God 15 And they rejected his statutes and his covenant that he made with their fathers and his testimonies which he testified against them and they followed vanity and became vain and went after the heathen that were round about them concerning whom the LORD had charged them that they should not do like them 16 And they left all the commandments of the LORD their God and * Exod. 32.8 1 King 12.28 made them molten images even two calves and made a grove and worshipped all the host of heaven and served Baal 17 And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire and used divination and enchantments and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the LORD to provoke him to anger 18 Therefore the LORD was very angry with Israel and removed them out of his sight there was none left but the tribe of Judah onely 19 Also Judah kept not the commandments of the LORD their God but walked in the statutes of Israel which they made 20 And the LORD rejected all the seed of Israel and afflicted them and delivered them into the hand of spoilers until he had cast them out of his sight 21 For the rent Israel from the house of David and they made Jeroboam the son of Nebat king and Jeroboam drave Israel from following the LORD and made them sin a great sin 22 For the children of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam which he did they departed not from them 23 Until the LORD removed Israel out of his sight as he had said by all his servants the prophets So was Israel carried away out of their own land to Assyria unto this day 24 ¶ And the king of Assyria brought men from Babylon and from Cuthah and from Ava and from Hamath and from Sepharvaim and placed them in the cities of Samaria in stead of the children of Israel and they possessed Samaria and dwelt
in his transgression have we prepared and sanctified and behold they are before the altar of the LORD 20 ¶ Then Hezekiah the king rose early and gathered the rulers of the city and went up to the house of the LORD 21 And they brought seven bullocks and seven rams and seven lambs and seven he-goats for a * Levit. ● 14 sin-offering for the kingdom and for the sanctuary and for Judah and he commanded the priests the sons of Aaron to offer them on the altar of the LORD 22 So they killed the bullocks and the priests received the bloud and * Levit. 8.14 1● Heb. 9.21 sprinkled it on the altar likewise when they had killed the rams they sprinkied the bloud upon the altar they killed also the lambs and they sprinkled the bloud upon the altar 23 And they brought † Heb. near forth the he-goats for the sin-offering before the king and the congregation and they laid their * Levit. 4.15 hands upon them 24 And the priests killed them and they made reconciliation with their bloud upon the altar to make an atonement for all Israel for the king commanded that the burnt-offering and the sin-offering should be made for all Israel 25 * 1 Chron 16.4 and 25.6 And he set the Levites in the house of the LORD with cymbals with psalteries and with harps according to the commandment of David and of Gad the kings seer and Nathan the prophet for so was the commandment † Heb. by the hand of the LORD of the LORD † Heb. by the hand of by his prophets 26 And the Levites stood with the instruments of David and the priests with the trumpets 27 And Hezekiah commanded to offer the burnt-offering upon the altar and † Heb. in the time when the burnt-offering began the song of the LORD be●an also with the trumpets and with the † Heb. hands of instruments instruments ordained by David king of Israel 28 And all the congregation worshipped and the † Heb. song singers sang and the trumpeters sounded and all this continued until the burnt-offering was finished 29 And when they had made an end of offering the king and all that were † Heb. sound present with him bowed themselves and worshipped 30 Moreover Hezekiah the king and the princes commanded the Levites to sing praise unto the LORD with the words of David and of Asaph the seer and they sang praises with gladness and they bowed their heads and worshipped 31 Then Hezekiah answered and said Now ye have ‖ Or filled your hand consecrated your selves unto the LORD come near and bring sacrifices and thank offerings into the house of the LORD And the congregation brought in sacrifices and thank-offerings and as many as were of a free heart burnt-offerings 22 And the number of the burnt offerings which the congregation brought was threescore and ten bullo●ks an hundred rams and two hundred lambs all these were for a burnt-offering to the LORD 33 And the consecrated things were six hundred oxen and three thousand sheep 34 But the priests were too sew so that they could not stay all the burnt-offerings wherefore their brethren the Levites † Heb. strengthned them did help them till the work was ended and until the other priests had sanctified themselves for the Levites were more upright in heart to sanctifie themselves then the priests 35 And also the burnt-offerings were in abundance with the fat of the peace-offerings and the drink-offerings for every burnt-offering So the service of the house of the LORD was set in order 36 And Hezekiah rejoyced and all the people that God had prepared the people for the thing was done suddenly CHAP. XXX 1 Hezekiah proclaimeth a solemn pass-over on the second moneth for Judah and Israel 13 The assembly having destroyed the altars of idolatry keep the feast fourteen days 27 The priests and Levites bless the people ANd Hezekiah sent to all Israel and Judah and wrote letters also to Eparaim and Manasseh that they should come to the house of the LORD at Jerusalem to keep the pass-over unto the LORD God of Israel 2 For the king had taken counsel and his princes and all the congregation in Jerusalem to keep the pass-over in the second * Num. 9.10 11. moneth 3 For they could not keep it at that time because the priests had not sanctified themselves sufficiently neither had the people gathered themselves together to Jerusalem 4 And the thing † Heb. was right in the eyes of the king pleased the king and all the congregation 5 So they established a decree to make proclamation throughout all Israel from Beer sheba even to Dan that they should come to keep the pass-over unto the LORD God of Israel at Jerusalem for they had not done it of a long time in such sort as it was written 6 So the posts went with the letters † Heb. from the ●●nd from the king and his princes throughout all Israel and Judah and according to the commandment of the king saying Ye children of Israel turn again unto the LORD God of Abraham Isaac and Israel and he will return to the remnant of you that are escaped out of the hand of the kings of Assyria 7 And be not ye like your fathers and like your brethren which trespassed against the LORD God of their fathers who therefore gave them up to desolation as ye see 8 Now † Heb. ●arden not your necks be ye not stiff-necked as your fathers were but † Heb. give the h●nd yeeld your selves unto the LORD and enter into his sanctuary which he hath sanctified for ever and serve the LORD your God that the fierceness of his wrath may turn away from you 9 For if ye turn again unto the LORD your brethren and your children shall finde compassion before them that lead them captive so that they shall come again into this land for the LORD your God is * Exod. 34.6 gracious and merciful and will not turn away his face from you if ye return unto him 10 So the posts passed from city to city through the countrey of Ephraim and Manasseh even unto Zebulun but they laughed them to scorn and mocked them 11 Nevertheless divers of Asher and Manasseh and of Zebulun humbled themselves and came to Jerusalem 12 Also in Judah the hand of God was to give them one heart to do the commandment of the king and of the princes by the word of the LORD 13 ¶ And there assembled at Jerusalem much people to keep the feast of unleavened bread in the second moneth a very great congregation 14 And they arose and took away the * Chap. 28 24. altars that were in Jerusalem and all the altars for incense took they away and cast them into the brook Kidron 15 Then they killed the pass-over on the fourteenth day of the second moneth and the priests and the Levites were
temple 3 In his days the * 1 King 7.23 cistern to receive water being in compass as the sea was covered with plates of brass 4 He took care of the temple that it should not fall and fortified the city against besieging 5 How was he honoured in the midst of the people in his coming out of † Gr. the house of the ●●il the sanctuary 6 He was as the morning star in the midst of a cloud and as the moon at the full 7 As the sun shining upon the temple of the most High and as the rainbowe giving light in the bright clouds 8 And as the flower of roses in the spring of the year as lilies by the rivers of waters and as the branches of the frankincense tree in the time of summer 9 As fire and incense in the censer and as a vessel of beaten gold set with all manner of precious stones 10 And as a fair olive-tree budding forth fruit and as a cypress tree which groweth up to the clouds 11 When he put on the robe of honour and was clothed with the perfection of glory when he went up to the holy altar he made the garment of holiness honourable 12 When he took the portions out of the priests hands he himself stood by the hearth of the altar compassed with his brethren round about as a young cedar in Libanus and as palm-trees compassed they him round about 13 So were all the sons of Aaron in their glory and the oblations of the Lord in their hands before all the congregation of Israel 14 And finishing the service at the altar that he might adorn the offering of the most high Almighty 15 He stretched out his hand to the cup and poured of the bloud of the grape he poured out at the foot of the altar a sweet-smelling savour unto the most high King of all 16 Then shouted the sons of Aaron and sounded the ‖ Or trumpets beacon forth with the 〈◊〉 silver trumpets and made a great noise to be heard for a remembrance before the most High 17 Then all the people together hasted and fell down to the earth upon their faces to worship their Lord God almighty the most High 18 The singers also sang praises with their voices with great variety of sounds was there made sweet melody 19 And the people besought the Lord the most High by prayer before him that is merciful till the solemnity of the Lord was ended and they had finished his service 20 Then he went down and lifted up his hands over the whose congregation of the children of Israel to give the blessing of the Lord with his lips and to rejoyce in his name 21 And they bowed themselves down to worship the second time that they might receive a blessing from the most High 22 Now therefore bless ye the God of all which onely doth wondrous things every where which exalteth our days from the womb and dealeth with us according to his mercy 23 He grant us joyfulness of heart and that peace may be in our days in Israel for ever 24 That he would confirm his mercy with us and deliver us at his time 25 There be two manner of nations which my heart abhorreth and the third is no nation 26 They that sit upon the mountain of Samaria and they that dwell amongst the Philistines and that foolish people that dwell in Sichem 27 Jesus the son of Sirach of Jerusalem hath written in this book the instruction of understanding and knowledge who out of his heart poured forth wisdom 28 Blessed is he that shall be exercised in these things and he that sayeth them up in his heart shall become wise 20 For if he do them he shall be strong to all things for the light of the Lord leadeth him who giveth wisdom to the godly Blesses be the Lord forever Amen amen CHAP. XXX 1 The altar of incense 11 The ransom of souls 17 The brasen laver 22 The holy anointing oyl 34 The composition of the perfume ANd thou shalt make an altar to burn Incense upon of shittim-wood shalt thou make it 2 A cubit shall be the length thereof and a cubit the breadth thereof four-square shall it be and two cubits shall be the height thereof the horns thereof shall be of the same 3 And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold the † Heb. roof top thereof and the † Heb. walls sides thereof round about and the horns thereof and thou shalt make unto it a crown of gold round about 4 And two golden rings shalt thou make to it under the crown of it by the two † Heb. ribs corners thereof upon the two sides of it shalt thou make it and they shall be for places for the staves to bear it withall 5 And thou shalt make the staves of shittim-wood and overlay them with gold 6 And thou shalt put it before the vail that is by the ark of the testimony before the mercy-seat that is over the testimony where I will meet with thee 7 And Aaron shall burn thereon † Heb. incense of spices sweet incense every morning when he dresseth the lamps he shall burn incense upon it 8 And when Aaron ‖ Or setteth up † Heb. causeth to ascend lighteth the lamps † Heb. between the two evens at even he shall burn incense upon it a perpetual incense before the LORD throughout your generations 9 Ye shall offer no strange incense thereon nor burnt-sacrifice nor meat offering neither shall ye pour drink-offering thereon 10 And Aaron shall make an atonement upon the horns of it once in a year with the blood of the sin-offering of atonements once in the year shall he ma●● atonement upon it throughout your generations it is most holy unto the LORD 11 And the LORD spake unto Moses saying 12 * Num. 1.1.2 5. When thou takest the sum of the children of Israel after † Heb. them that are to be numbred their number then shall they give every man a ransom for his soul unto the LORD when thou numbrest them that there be no plague amongst them when thou numbrest them 13 This they shall give every one that passeth among them that are numbred half a shekel after the shekel of the sanctuary * Lev. 27.25 Numb 3.47 Ezek. 45.12 A shekel is twenty gerahs an hall-shekel shall be the offering of the LORD 14 Every one that passeth among them that are numbred from twenty years old and above shall give an offering unto the LORD 15 The rich shall not † Heb. multiply give more and the poor shall not † Heb. diminish give less then hall a shekel when they give an offering unto the LORD to make an atonement for your souls 16 And thou shalt take the atonement-money of the children of Israel and shalt appoint it for the service of the tabernacle of the congregation that it may be a memorial unto the children of Israel before the LORD to make an atonement for your souls 17 ¶ And the LORD spake unto Moses saying 18 Thou shalt also make a laver of brass and his foot also of brass to wash withal and thou shalt put it between the tabernacle of the congregation and the altar and thou shalt put water therein 19 For Aaron and his sons shall wash their hands their feet thereat 20 When they go into the tabernacle of the congregation they shall wash with water that they die not or when they come near to the altar to minister to burn offering made by fire unto the LORD 21 So they shall wash their hands and their feet that they die not and it shall be a statute for e●er to them even to him and to his seed throughout their generations 22 ¶ Moreover the LORD spake unto Moses saying 23 Take thou also unto thee principal spices of pure myrrh five hundred shekels and of sweet cinnamon half so much even two hundred and fifty shekels and of sweet calamus two hundred fifty shekels 24 And of cassia five hundred shekels after the shekel of the sanctuary and of oyl-olive an * Chap. ● 29.40 hin 25 And thou shalt make it an oyl of holy ointment an ointment compound after the art of the ‖ Or perfumer apothecary it shall be an holy anointing oyl 26 And thou shalt anoint the tabernacle of the congregation therewith and the ark of the testimony 27 And the table and all his vessels and the candlestick and his vessels and the altar of incense 28 And the altar of burnt-offering with all his vessels and the laver and his foot 29 And thou shalt sanctifie them that they may be most holy whatsoever toucheth them shall be holy 30 And thou shalt anoint Aaron and his sons and consecrate them that they may minister unto me in the priests office 31 And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel saying This shall be an holy anointing oyl unto me throughout your generations 32 Upon mans flesh shall it not be poured neither shall ye make any other like it after the composition of it it is holy and it shall be holy unto you 33 Whosoever compoundeth any like it or whosoever putteth any of it upon a stranger shall even be cut off from his people 34 ¶ And the LORD said unto Moses Take unto thee sweet spices stacte and onycha and galbanum these sweet spices with pure frankincense of each shall there be a like weight 35 And thou shalt make it a perfume a confection after the art of the apothecary † Heb. s●ited tempered together pure and holy 36 And thou shalt beat some of it very small and put of it before the testimony in the tabernacle of the congregation where I will meet with thee it shall be unto you most holy 37 And as for the perfume which thou shalt make you shall not make to your selves according to the composition thereof it shall be unto thee holy for the LORD 38 Whosoever shall make like unto
the fat of the peace-offerings 13 The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar it shall never go out 14 ¶ * Ch. 2.1 〈◊〉 15.4 And this is the law of the meat-offering the sons of Aaron shall offer it before the LORD before the altar 15 And he shall take of it his handful of the flour of the meat-offering and of the oyl thereof and all the frankincense which is upon the meat-offering and shall burn it upon the altar for a sweet savour even the * Chap. ● 9 memorial of it unto the LORD 16 And the remainder thereof shall Aaron and his sons eat with unleavened bread shall it be eaten in the holy place in the court of the tabernacle of the congregation they shall eat it 17 It ●●all not be baken with leaven I have given it unto them for their portion of my offerings made by fire it is most holy as is the sin-offering and as the trespass-offering 18 All the males among the children of Aaron shall eat of it It shall be a statute for ever in your generations concerning the offerings of the LORD made by fire * ●xod 1● 37 Every one that toucheth them shall be holy 19 ¶ And the LORD spake unto Moses saying 20 This is the offering of Aaron and of his sons which they shall offer unto the LORD in the day when he is anointed the tenth part of an * Exod. 16.36 ephah of fine flour for 2 meat-offering perpetual half of it in the morning and half thereof at night 21 In a pan it shall be made with oyl and when it is baken thou shalt bring it in and the baken pieces of the meat-offering shalt thou offer for a sweet savour unto the LORD 22 And the priest of his sons that is anointed in his stead shall offer it It is a statute for ever unto the LORD it shall be wholl● burnt 23 For every meat-offering for the priest shall be wholly burnt it shall not be eaten 24 ¶ And the LORD spake unto Moses saying 25 Speak unto Aaton and to 〈…〉 saying This is the law of the sin-offering In the place where the burnt-off●ring is killed shall the sin-offering be killed before the LORD it is mo●t holy 26 The priest that off●r●th ●t for sin shall eat it in the holy place shall it be eaten in the court of the tabernacle of the congregation 27 Whatsoever shall touch the flesh thereof shall be holy and when there is sprinkled of the bloud thereof upon any garment thou shalt wash that whereon it was sprinkled in the holy place 28 But the earthen vessel wherein it is sodden * Chap. 11.33 shall be broken and if it be sodden in a brasen pot it shall be both scoured and rinsed in water 29 All the males among the priests shall eat thereof it is most holy 30 * Hebr. 13.11 And no sin-offering whereof any of the bloud is brought into the tabernacle of the congregation to reconcile withal in the holy place shall be eaten it shall be burnt in the fire CHAP. VII 1 The law of the trespass-offering 11 and of the peace-offerings 12 whether it be for a thanksgiving 16 or a vow or a free-will-offering 22 The fat 26 and the bloud are forbidden 28 The priests portion in the peace-off●rings LIkewise this is the law of the trespass-offering it is most holy 2 In the place where they kill the burnt-offering shall they kill the trespass-offering and the bloud thereof shall he sprinkle round about upon the altar 3 And he shall offer of it all the fat thereof the rump and the fat that covereth the inwards 4 And the two kidneys and the fat that is on them which is by the flanks and the caul that is above the liver with the kidneys it shall he take away 5 And the priest shall burn them upon the altar for an offering made by fire unto the LORD it is a trespass-offering 6 Every male among the priests shall eat thereof it shall be eaten in the holy place it is most holy 7 As the sin-offering is so is the trespass-offering there is one law for them the priest that maketh atonement therewith shall have it 8 And the priest that offereth any mans burnt-offering even the priest shall have to himself the skin of the burnt-offering which he hath offered 9 And all the meat-offering that is baken in the oven and all that is dressed in the frying-pan and ‖ Or on the flat plate or slice in the pan shall be the priests that offereth it 10 And every meat-offering mingled with oyl and dry shall all the sons of Aaron have one as much as another 11 And this is the law of the sacrifice of peace-offerings which he shall offer unto the LORD 12 If he offer it for a thanksgiving then he shall offer with the sacrifice of thanksgiving unleavened cakes mingled with oyl and unleavened wafers anointed with oyl and cakes mingled with oyl of fine flour fryed 13 Besides the cakes he shall offer for his offering leavened bread with the sacrifice of thanksgiving of his peace-offerings 14 And of it he shall offer one out of the whole oblation for an heave-offering unto the LORD and it shall be the priests that sprinkleth the bloud of the peace-offerings 15 And the flesh of the sacrifice of his peace-offerings for thanksgiving shall be eaten the same day that it is offered he shall not leave any of it until the morning 16 But if the sacrifice of his offering be a vow or a voluntary offering it shall be eaten the same day that he offereth his sacrifice and on the morrow also the remainder of it shall be eaten 17 But the remainder of the flesh of the sacrifice on the third day shall be burnt with fire 18 And if any of the flesh of the sacrifice of his peace-offerings be eaten at all on the third day it shall not be accepted neither shall it be imputed unto him that offereth it it shall be an abomination and the soul that eateth of it shall bear his iniquity 19 And the flesh that toucheth any unclean thing shall not be eaten it shall be burnt with fire and as for the flesh all that be clean shall eat thereof 20 But the soul that eateth of the flesh of the sacrifice of peace-offerings that pertain unto the LORD * Chap 15.3 having his uncleanness upon him even that soul shall be cut off from his people 21 Moreover the soul that shall touch any unclean thing as the uncleanness of man or any unclean beast or any abominable unclean thing and eat of the flesh of the sacrifice of peace-offerings which pertain unto the LORD even that soul shall be cut off from his people 22 ¶ And the LORD spake unto Moses saying 23 Speak unto the children of Israel saying * Chap. 3.17 Ye shall eat no manner fat of ox or of sheep or of goat 24 And the fat of the
whole house of Israel bewail the burning which the LORD hath kindled 7 And ye shall not go out from the door of the tabernacle of the congregation lest you die for the anointing oyl of the LORD is upon you And they did according to the word of Moses 8 ¶ And the LORD spake unto Aaron saying 9 Do not drink wine nor strong drink thou nor thy sons with thee when ye go into the tabernacle of the congregation lest ye die It shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations 10 And that ye may put difference between ho●y and unholy and between unclean and clean 11 And that ye may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the LORD hath spoken unto them by the hand of Moses 12 ¶ And Moses spake unto Aaron and unto Eleazar and unto Itham●r his sons that were left Take the meat-offering that remaineth of the offerings of the LORD made by fire and eat it without leaven beside the altar for it is most holy 13 And ye shall eat it in the holy place because it is thy due and thy son● due of the sacrifices of the LORD made by fire for so I am command●d 14 And * Exod. ●9 24 the wave-breast and heave-shoulder shall ye eat in a clean place thou and thy sons and thy daughters with thee for they be thy due and thy sons due which are given out of the sacrifices of peace-offerings of the children of Israel 15 The heave-shoulder and the wave-breast shall they bring with the offerings made by fire of the fat to wave it for a wave-offering before the LORD and it shall be thine and thy sons with thee by a statute for ever as the LORD hath commanded 16 ¶ And Moses diligently sought the goat of the sin-offering and behold it was burnt and he was angry with Eleazar and Ithamar the sons of Aaron which were left alive saying 17 Wherefore have ye not eaten the sin-offering in the holy place seeing it is most holy and God hath given it you to bear the iniquity of the congregation to make atonement for them before the LORD 18 Behold the bloud of it was not brought in within the holy place ye should indeed have eaten it in the holy place * Chap. 6.26 as I commanded 19 And Aaron said unto Moses Behold this day have they offered their sin-offering and their burnt-offering before the LORD and such things have befallen me and if I had eaten the sin-offering to day should it have been accepted in the sight of the LORD 20 And when Moses heard that he was content CHAP. XI 1 What beasts may 4 and what may not be eaten 9 What fishes 13 What fowls 29 The creeping things which are unclean ANd the LORD spake unto Moses and to Aaron saying unto them 2 Speak unto the children of Israel saying * Deu. 14.4 Act. 10 1● These are the beasts which ye shall eat among all the beasts that are on the earth 3 Whatsoever parteth the hoof and is cloven-footed and cheweth the cud among the beasts that shall ye eat 4 Nevertheless these shall ye not eat of them that chew the cud or of them that divide the hoof as the camel because he cheweth the cud but divideth not the hoof he is unclean to you 5 And the coney because he cheweth the cud but divideth not the hoof he is unclean unto you 6 And the hare because he cheweth the cud but divideth not the hoof he is unclean unto you 7 And * 2 Ma● 6.18 the swine though he divide the hoof and be cloven-footed yet he cheweth not the cud he is unclean to you 8 Of their flesh shall ye not eat and their carcase shall ye not touch they are unclean to you 9 ¶ These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters whatsoever hath fins scales in the waters in the seas in the rivers them shall ye eat 10 And all that have not fins nor scales in the seas and in the rivers of all that move in the waters and of any living thing which is in the waters they shall be an abomination unto you 11 They shall be even an abomination unto you ye shall not eat of their flesh but you shall have their carcases in abomination 12 Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters that shall be an abomination unto you 13 ¶ And these are they which ye shall have in abomination among the fowls they shall not be eaten they are an abomination the eagle and the ossifrage and the ospray 14 And the vulture and the kite after his kinde 15 Every raven after his kinde 16 And the owl and the night-hauk and the cuckow and the hauk after his kinde 17 And the little owl and the cormorant and the great owl 18 And the swan and the pelican and the gier-eagle 19 And the stork and the heron after her kinde and the lapwing and the bat 20 All fowls that creep going upon all four shall be an abomination unto you 21 Yet these may ye eat of every flying creeping thing that goeth upon all four which have legs above their feet to leap withal upon the earth 22 Even these of them ye may eat the locust after his kinde and the bald locust after his kinde and the beetle after his kinde and the grashopper after his kinde 23 But all other flying creeping things which have four feet shall be an abomination unto you 24 And for these ye shall be unclean whosoever toucheth the carcase of them shall be unclean until the even 25 And whosoever beareth ought of the carcase of them shall wash his clothes and be unclean until the even 26 The carcases of every beast which divideth the hoof and is not cloven-footed nor cheweth the cud are unclean unto you every one that toucheth them shall be unclean 27 And whatsoever goeth upon his paws among all manner of beasts that go on all four those are unclean unto you whoso toucheth their carcase shall be unclean until the even 28 And he that beareth the carcase of them shall wash his clothes and be unclean until the even they are unclean unto you 29 ¶ These also shall be unclean unto you among the creeping things that creep upon the earth the weasel and the mouse and the tortoise after his kinde 30 And the ferret and the chameleon and the lyzard and the snail and the mole 31 These are unclean to you among all that creep whosoever doth touch them when they be dead shall be unclean until the even 32 And upon whatsoever any of them when they are dead doth fall it shall be unclean whether it be any vessel of wood or raiment or skin or sack whatsoever vessel it be wherein any work is done it must be put into water and it shall be unclean until the even so it shall be cleansed 33 And every earthen vessel whereinto any of them falleth whatsoever is in it shall
in water and be unclean until the even 17 And every garment and every skin whereon is the seed of copulation shall be washed with water and be unclean until the even 18 The woman also with whom man shall lie with seed of copulation they shall both bathe themselves in water and be unclean until the even 19 ¶ And if a woman have an issue and her issue in her flesh be bloud she shall be † Heb. in her separation put apart seven days and whosoever toucheth her shall be unclean until the even 20 And every thing that she lieth upon in her separation shall be unclean every thing also that she sitteth upon shall be unclean 21 And whosoever toucheth her bed shall wash his clothes and bathe himself in water and be unclean until the even 22 And whosoever toucheth any thing that she sat upon shall wash his clothes and bathe himself in water and be unclean until the even 23 And if it be on her bed or on any thing whereon she sitteth when he toucheth it he shall be unclean until the even 24 And if any man lie with her at all and her flowers be upon him he shall be unclean seven days and all the bed whereon he lieth shall be unclean 25 And if a woman have an issue of her bloud many days out of the time of her separation or if it run beyond the time of her separation all the days of the issue of her uncleanness shall be as the days of her separation she shall be unclean 26 Every bed whereon she lieth all the days of her issue shall be unto her as the bed of her separation and whatsoever she sitteth upon shall be unclean as the uncleanness of her separation 27 And whosoever toucheth those things shall be unclean and shall wash his clothes and bathe himself in water be unclean until the even 28 But if she be cleansed of her issue then she shall number to her self seven days and after that she shall be clean 29 And on the eighth day she shall take unto her two turtles or two young pigeons and bring them unto the priest to the door of the tabernacle of the congregation 30 And the priest shall offer the one for a sin-offering and the other for a burnt-offering and the priest shall make an atonement for her before the LORD for the issue of her uncleanness 31 Thus shall ye separate the children of Israel from their uncleanness that they die not in their uncleanness when they defile my tabernacle that is among them 32 This is the law of him that hath an issue and of him whose seed goeth from him and is defiled therewith 33 And of her that is sick of her flowers and of him that hath an issue of the man and of the woman and of him that lieth with her which is unclean CHAP. XVI 1 How the high priest must enter into the h●ly place 11 The sin-offering for himself 15 The sin-offering for the people 20 The scape-goat 29 The yearly feast of the exp●ations ANd the LORD spake unto Moses after * Chap. 10.2 the death of the two sons of Aaron when they offered before the LORD and died 2 And the LORD said unto Moses Speak unto Aaron thy brother that he * Ex. 30.10 Hebr. 9.7 come not at all times into the holy place within the vail before the mercy-seat which is upon the ark that he die not for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy-seat 3 Thus shall Aaron come into the holy place with a young bullock for a sin-offering and a ram for a burnt-offering 4 He shall put on the holy linen coat and he shall have the linen breeches upon his flesh and shall be girded with the linen girdle and with the linen mitre shall he be attired these are holy garments therefore shall he wash his flesh in water and so put them on 5 And he shall take of the congregation of the children of Israel two kids of the goats for a sin offering and one ram for a burnt-offering 6 And Aaron shall offer his bullock of the sin-offering which is for himself and * Hebr. 9.7 make an atonement for himself and for his house 7 And he shall take the two goats and present them before the LORD at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation 8 And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats one lot for the LORD and the other lot for the † Heb. Azaz●l scape-goat 9 And Aaron shall bring the goat upon which the LORDS lot † Heb. went up fell and offer him for a sin-offering 10 But the goat on which the lot fell to be the scape-goat shall be presented alive before the LORD to make an atonement with him and to let him go for a scape-goat into the wilderness 11 And Aaron shall bring the bullock of the sin offering which is for himself and shall make an atonement for himself and for his house and shall kill the bullock of the sin-offering which is for himself 12 And he shall take a censer-full of burning coals of fire from off the altar before the LORD and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small and bring it within the vail 13 And he shall put the incense upon the fire before the LORD that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy-seat that is upon the testimony that he die not 14 And * Hebr. ● 13 10.4 he shall take of the bloud of the bullock and * Cha. 4. ● sprinkle it with his finger upon the mercy seat east-ward and before the mercy-seat shall he sprinkle of the bloud with his finger seven times 15 ¶ Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering that is for the people and bring his bloud within the vail and do with that bloud as he did with the bloud of the bullock and sprinkle it upon the mercy-seat and before the mercy seat 16 And he shall make an atonement for the holy place because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel and because of their transgressions in all their sins and so shall he do for the tabernacle of the congregation that † Heb. dwelleth remaineth among them in the midst of their uncleanness 17 * Luk. 1 1● And there shall be no man in the tabernacle of the congregation when he goeth in to make an atonement in the holy place until he come out and have made an atonement for himself and for his houshold and for all the congregation of Israel 18 And he shall go out unto the altar that is before the LORD and make an atonement for it and shall take of the bloud of the bullock of the bloud of the goat put it upon the horns of the altar round about 19 And he shall sprinkle of the bloud upon it with his finger seven times and cleanse it and hallow it from the uncleanness of the children of Israel
20 ¶ And when he hath made an end of reconciling the holy place the tabernacle of the congregation the altar he shall bring the live goat 21 And Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel and all their transgressions in all their sins putting them upon the head of the goat and shall send him away by the hand of † Heb. a man of opportunity a fit man into the wilderness 22 And the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a land † Heb. of separation not inhabited and he shall let go the goat in the wilderness 23 And Aaron shall come into the tabernacle of the congregation and shall put off the linen garments which he put on when he went into the holy place and shall leave them there 24 And he shall wash his flesh with water in the holy place and put on his garments and come forth and offer his burnt-offering and the burnt-offering of the people and make an atonement for himself and for the people 25 And the fat of the sin-offering shall he burn upon the altar 26 And he that let go the goat for the scape-goat shall wash his clothes and bathe his flesh in water and afterward come into the camp 27 * Cha. ● 20 Heb. 13 1● And the bullock for the sin-offering and the goat for the sin-offering whose bloud was brought in to make atonement in the holy place shall one carry forth without the camp and they shall burn in the fire their skins and their flesh and their dung 28 And he that burneth them shall wash his clothes and bathe his flesh in water and afterward he shall come into the camp 29 ¶ And this shall be a statute for ever unto you that in the seventh moneth on the tenth day of the moneth ye shall afflict your souls and do no work at all whether it be one of your own countrey of a stranger that sojourneth among you 30 For on that day shall the priest make an atonement fo● you to cleanse you that ye may be clean from all your sins before the LORD 31 It shall be a sabbath of rest unto you and ye shall afflict your souls by a statute for ever 32 And the priest whom he shall anoint and whom he shall † Heb. till his hand consecrate to minister in the priests office in his fathers stead shall make the atonement and shall put on the linen clothes even the holy garments 33 And he shall make an atonement for the holy sanctuary and ●e shall make an atonement for the tabernacle of the congregation and for the altar and he shall make an atonement for the priests and for all the people of the congregation 34 And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you to make an atonement for the children of Israel for all their sins * Exod. 30.10 Hebr. ● 7 once a year And he did as the LORD commanded Moses CHAP. XVII 1 The bloud of all slain beasts must be offered to the Lord at the door of the tabernacle 7 They must not offer to devils 10 All eating of bloud is forbidden 15 and all that d●th alone or is torn ANd the LORD spake unto Moses saying 2 Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons and unto all the children of Israel and say unto them This is the thing which the LORD hath commanded saying 3 What man soever there be of the house of Israel that killeth an ox or lamb or goat in the camp or that killeth it out of the camp 4 And bringeth it not unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation to offer an offering unto the LORD before the tabernacle of the LORD bloud shall be imputed unto that man he hath shed bloud and that man shall be cut off from among his people 5 To the end that the children of Israel may bring their sacrifices which they offer in the open field even that they may br●ng them unto the LORD unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation unto the priest and ofter them for peace-offerings unto the LORD 6 And the priest shall sprinkle the bloud upon the altar of the LORD at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation and burn the sat for a * Exod. 20.18 Chap. 4.31 sweet savour unto the LORD 7 And they shall no more offer their sacrifices unto devils after whom they have gone a whoring This shall be a statute for ever unto them throughout their genera●ions 8 ¶ And thou shalt say unto them whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel or of the strangers which sojourn among you that offereth a burnt-offering or sacrifice 9 And bringeth it not unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation to offer it unto the LORD even that man shall be cut off from among his people 10 ¶ And whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel or of the strangers that sojourn among you that eateth any manner of bloud I will even set my face against that soul that eateth bloud and will cut him off from among his people 11 For the life of the flesh is in the bloud and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls for it is the bloud that maketh an atonement for the soul 12 Therefore I said unto the children of Israel No soul of you shall eat bloud neither shall any stranger that sojourneth among you eat bloud 13 And whatsoever man there be of the children of Israel or of the strangers that sojourn among you † Heb. that hunteth any hunting which hunteth and catcheth any beast or fowl that may be eaten he shall even pour out the bloud thereof and cover it with dust 14 * Gen. 9.4 For it is the life of all flesh the bloud of it is for the life thereof therefore I said unto the children of Israel Ye shall eat the bloud of no manner of flesh for the life of all flesh is the bloud thereof whosoever eateth it shall be cut off 15 And every soul that eateth † Heb. a carcase that which died of it self or that which was torn with beasts whether it be one of your own countrey or a stranger he shall both wash his clothes and bathe himself in water and be unclean until the even then shall he be clean 16 But if he wash them not nor bathe his flesh then he shall bear his iniquity CHAP. XVIII 1Vnlawful marriages 19Vnlawful lusts ANd the LORD spake unto Moses saying 2 Speak unto the children of Israel and say unto them I am the LORD your God 3 After the doings of the land of Egypt wherein ye dwelt shall ye not do and after the doings of the land of Canaan whither I bring you shall ye not do neither shall ye walk in their ordinances 4 Ye shall do my judgements and
7 Therefore thou and thy sons with thee shall keep your priests office for every thing of the altar and within the vail and ye shall serve I have given your priests office unto you as a service of gift and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death 8 ¶ And the LORD spake unto Aaron Behold I also have given thee the charge of mine heave-offerings of all the hallowed things of the children of Israel unto thee have I given them by reason of the anointing to thy sons by an ordinance for ever 9 This shall be thine of the most holy things reserved from the fire every oblation of theirs every meat-offering of theirs and every sin offering of theirs and every trespass offering of theirs which they shall render unto me shall be most holy for thee and for thy sons 10 In the most holy place shalt thou eat it every male shall eat it it shall be holy unto thee 11 And this is thine the heave offering of their gift with all the wave-offerings of the children of Israel I have given them unto * Levi● 1● 14 thee and to thy sons and to thy daughters with thee by a statute for ever every one that is clean in thy house shall eat of it 12 All the † Heb. sat best of the oyl and all the best of the wine and of the wheat the first-fruits of them which they shall offer unto the LORD them have I given thee 13 And whatsoever is first ripe in the land which they shall bring unto the LORD shall be thine every one that is clean in thine house shall eat of it 14 * Levit. 27.28 Every thing devoted in Israel shall be thine 15 Everything that openeth * Ex. 13.2 22.29 Lev. 26.27 Chap. 3.12 the matrix in all flesh which they bring unto the LORD whether it be of men or beasts shall be thine nevertheless the first-born of man shalt thou surely redeem and the firstling of unclean beasts shalt thou redeem 16 And those that are to be redeemed from a moneth old shalt thou redeem according to thine estimation for the money of five shekels after the shekel of the sanctuary * Ex. 30.12 Lev. 27.25 Ch. 3.47 Ez. 45.12 which is twenty gerahs 17 But the firstling of a cow or the firstling of a sheep or the firstling of a goat thou shalt not redeem they are holy thou shalt sprinkle their bloud upon the altar and shalt burn their fat for an offering made by fire for a sweet savour unto the LORD 18 And the flesh of them shall be thine as the * Ex. 29.26 wave-breast and as the right shoulder are thine 19 All the heave-offerings of the holy things which the children of Israel offer unto the LORD have I given thee and thy sons and thy daughters with thee by a statute for ever it is a covenant of salt for ever before the LORD unto thee and to thy seed with thee 20 ¶ And the LORD spake unto Aaron Thou shalt have no inheritance in their land neither shalt thou have any part among them * Deut. 10.9 and 18.2 Jos 13.14 33. Ez 44.28 I am thy part and thine inheritance among the children of Israel 21 And behold I have given the children of Levi all the tenth in Israel for an inheritance for their service which they serve even the service of the tabernacle of the congregation 22 Neither must the children of Israel henceforth come nigh the tabernacle of the congregation * Heb. to die lest they bear sin † and die 23 But the Levites shall do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation and they shall bear their iniquity It shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations that among the children of Israel they have no inheritance 24 But the tithes of the children of Israel which they offer as an heave-offering unto the LORD I have given to the Levites to inherit therefore I have said unto them Among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance 25 ¶ And the LORD spake unto Moses saying 26 Thus speak unto the Levites and say unto them When ye take of the children of Israel the tithes which I have given you from them for your inheritance then ye shall offer up an heave-offering of it for the LORD even a tenth part of the tithe 27 And this your heave-offering shall be reckoned unto you as though it were the corn of the threshing-floor and as the fulness of the wine-press 28 Thus you also shall offer an heave-offering unto the LORD of all your tithes which ye receive of the children of Israel and ye shall give thereof the LORDs heave-offering to Aaron the priest 29 Out of all your gifts ye shall offer every heave-offering of the LORD of all the † Heb. sat best thereof even the hallowed part thereof out of it 30 Therefore thou shalt say unto them When ye have heaved the best thereof from it then it shall be counted unto the Levites as the increase of the threshing-floor and as the encrease of the wine press 31 And ye shall eat it in every place ye and your housholds for it is your reward for your service in the tabernacle of the congregation 32 And ye shall bear no sin by reason of it when ye have heaved from it the best of it neither shall ye pollute the holy things of the children of Israel lest ye die CHAP. XIX 1 The water of separation made of the ashes of a red heifr 11 The law for the use of it in purification of the unclean ANd the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron saying 2 This is the ordinance of the law which the LORD hath commanded saying Speak unto the children of Israel that they bring thee a red heifer without spot wherein is no blemish and upon which never came yoke 3 And ye shall give her unto Eleazar the priest that he may bring her * Heb. 13.11 forth without the camp and one shall slay her before his face 4 And Eleazar the priest shall take of her bloud with his finger and * Heb. 9.13 sprinkle of her bloud directly before the tabernacle of the congregation seven times 5 And one shall burn the heifet in his sight * Ex. 29.14 Levit. 4.11 12. her skin and her flesh and her bloud with her dung shall he burn 6 And the priest shall take cedar-wood and hyssop and scarlet and cast it into the midst of the burning of the heifer 7 Then the priest shall wash his clothes and he shall bathe his flesh in water and afterward he shall come into the camp and the priest shall be unclean until the even 8 And he that burneth her shall wash his clothes in water and bathe his flesh in water and shall be unclean until the even 9 And a man that is clean shall gather up the ashes of the heifer and lay them up without

thou done And Saul said Because I saw that the people were scattered from me and that thou camest not within the days appointed and that the Philistines gathered themselves together to Michmash 12 Therefore said I the Philistines will come down now upon me to Gilgal and I have not † Heb. intreated the fate made supplication unto the LORD I forced my self therefore and offered a burnt-offering 13 And Samuel said to Saul Thou hast done foolishly thou hast not kept the commandment of the LORD thy God which he commanded thee for now would the LORD have established thy kingdom upon Israel for ever 14 But now thy kingdom shall not continue the LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart and the LORD hath commanded him to be captain over his people because thou hast not kept that which the LORD commanded thee 15 And Samuel arose and gat him up from Gilgal unto Gibeah of Benjamin and Saul numbred the people that were † Heb. found present with him about six hundred men 16 And Saul and Jonathan his son and the people that were present with them abode in Gibeah of Benjamin but the Philistines encamped in Michmash 17 ¶ And the spoilers came out of the camp of the Philistines in three companies one company turned unto the way that leadeth to Ophrah unto the land of Shual 18 And another company turned the way to Beth-horon and another company turned to the way of the border that looketh to the valley of Zeboim toward the wilderness 19 ¶ Now there was no smith found throughout all the land of Israel for the Philistines said Lest the Hebrews make them swords or spears 20 But all the Israelites went down to the Philistines to sharpen every man his share and his coulter and his ax and his mattock 21 Yet they had † Heb. a file with mouths a file for the mattocks and for the coulters and for the forks and for the axes and † Heb. to set to sharpen the goads 22 So it came to pass in the day of battel that there was neither sword nor spear found in the hand of any of the people that were with Saul and Jonathan but with Saul and with Jonathan his son was there found 23 And the ‖ Or standing camp garison of the Philistines went out to the passage of Michmash CHAP. XIV 1 Jonathan unwitting to his father the priest or the people goeth and iniraculously smiteth the Philistines garison 15 A divine terrour maketh them beat themselves 17 Saul not staying the priests answer setteth on them 21 The captivated Hebrews and the bidden Israelites joyn against them 24 Sauls unadvised adjuration hindreth the victory 32 He restraineth the people from eating bloud 35 He buildeth an altar 36 Jonathan taken by lot is saved by the people 47 Sauls strength and family NOw ‖ Or there w●● a day it came to pass upon a day that Jonathan the son of Saul said unto the young man that bare his armour Come and let us go over to the Philistines garison that is on the other side but he told not his father 2 And Saul tarried in the uttermost part of Gibeah under a pomegranate-tree which is in Migron and the people that were with him were about six hundred men 3 And Ahiah the son of Ahitub * Chap. 4.21 I-chabods brother the son of Phinehas the son of Eli the LORDS priest in Shiloh wearing an ephod and the people knew not that Jonathan was gone 4 ¶ And between the passages by which Jonathan sought to go over unto the Philistines garison there was a sharp rock on the one side and a sharp rock on the other side and the name of the one was Bozez and the name of the other Seneh 5 The † Heb. tooth forefront of the one was situate north-ward over against Michmash and the other south-ward over against Gibeah 6 And Jonathan said to the young man that bare his armour Come and let us go over unto the garison of these uncircumcised it may be that the LORD will work for us for there is no restraint to the LORD * 2 Chr. 14.11 to save by many or by few 7 And his armour-bearer said unto him Do all that is in thine heart turn thee behold I am with thee according to thy heart 8 Then said Jonathan Behold we will pass over unto these men and we will discover our selves unto them 9 If they say thus unto us † Heb. ●ie still Tarry until we come to you then we will stand still in our place and will not go up unto them 10 But if they say thus Come up unto us then we will go up for * 1 Mac. 4.30 the LORD hath delivered them into our hand and this shall be a signe unto us 11 And both of them discovered themselves unto the garison of the Philistines and the Philistines said Behold the Hebrews come forth out of the holes where they had hid themselves 12 And the men of the garison answered Jonathan and his armour-bearer and said Come up to us and we will shew you a thing And Jonathan said unto his armour-bearer Come up after me for the LORD hath delivered them into the hand of Israel 13 And Jonathan climbed up upon his hands and upon his feet and his armour-bearer after him and they fell before Jonathan and his armour-bearer slew after him 14 And that first slaughter which Jonathan and his armour-bearer made was about twenty men within as it were ‖ Or ●a●f a furrow of an 〈◊〉 of land an half-acre of land which a yoke of oxen might plow 15 And there was trembling in the host in the field and among all the people the garison and the spoilers they also trembled and the earth quaked so it was † Heb. a trembling of God a very great trembling 16 And the watchmen of Saul in Gibeah of Benjamin looked and behold the multitude melted away and they went on beating down one another 17 Then said Saul unto the people that were with him Number now and see who is gone from us And when they had numbred behold Jonathan and his armour-bearer were not there 18 And Saul said unto Ahiah Bring hither the ark of God for the ark of God was at that time with the children of Israel 19 ¶ And it came to pass while Saul talked unto the priest that the ‖ Or tumult noise that was in the host of the Philistines went on and increased and Saul said unto the priest Withdraw thine hand 20 And Saul and all the people that were with him † Heb. were cryed together assembled themselves and they came to the battel and behold * Judges 7.22 2 Chro. 20.23 every mans sword was against his fellow and there was a very great discomfiture 21 Moreover the Hebrews that were with the Philistines before that time which went up with them into the camp from the countrey
round about even they also turned to he with the Israelites that were with Saul and Jonathan 22 Likewise all the men of Israel which had hid themselves in mount Ephraim when they heard that the Philistines fled even they also followed hard after them in the battel 23 So the LORD saved Israel that day and the battel passed over unto Beth-aven 24 ¶ And the men of Israel were distressed that day for Saul had adjured the people saying Cursed be the man that eateth any food until evening that I may be avenged on mine enemies so none of the people tasted any food 25 And all they of the land came to a wood and there was honey upon the ground 26 And when the people were come into the wood behold the honey dropped but no man put his hand to his mouth for the people feared the oath 27 But Jonathan heard not when his father charged the people with the oath wherefore he put forth the end of the rod that was in his hand and dipt it in an honey-comb and put his hand to his mouth and his eyes were enlightned 28 Then answered one of the people and said Thy father straitly charged the people with an oath saying Cursed be the man that eateth any food this day And the people were ‖ Or weary faint 29 Then said Jonathan My father hath troubled the land see I pray you how mine eyes have been enlightned because I tasted a little of this honey 30 How much more if haply the people had eaten freely to day of the spoil of their enemies which they found for had there not been now a much greater slaughter among the Philistines 31 And they smote the Philistines that day from Michmash to Ajjalon and the people were very faint 32 And the people flew upon the spoil and took sheep and oxen and calves and slew them on the ground and the people did eat them * Lev. 7.26 19.26 Deu. 12.16 build unto the LORD the same was the first altar that he built unto the LORD 36 ¶ And Saul said Let us go down after the Philistines by night and spoil them until the morning light and let us not leave a man of them And they said Do whatsoever seemeth good unto thee Then said the priest Let us draw near hither unto God 37 And Saul asked counsel of God shall I go down after the Philistines wilt thou deliver them into the hand of Israel But he answered him not that day 38 And Saul said Draw ye near hither all the † Heb. ●orners Judg. 20.2 chief of the people and know and see wherein this sin hath been this day 39 For as the LORD liveth which saveth Israel though it be in Jonathan my son he shall surely die But there was not a man among all the people that answered him 40 Then said he unto all Israel Be ye on one side and I and Jonathan my son will be on the other side And the people said unto Saul Do what seemeth good unto thee 41 Therefore Saul said unto the LORD God of Israel ‖ Or Shew the innocent Give a perfect lot And Saul and Jonathan were taken but the people † Heb. went forth escaped 42 And Saul said Cast lots between me and Jonathan my son And Jonathan was taken 43 Then Saul said to Jonathan Tell me what thou hast done And Jonathan told him and said I did but taste a little honey with the end of the rod that was in mine hand and so I must die 44 And Saul answered God do so and more also for thou shalt surely die Jonathan 45 And the people said unto Saul Shall Jonathan die who hath wrought this great salvation in Israel God forbid as the LORD liveth there shall not one hair of his head fall to the ground for he hath wrought with God this day So the people rescued Jonathan that he died not 46 Then Saul went up from following the Philistines and the Philistines went to their own Place 47 ¶ So Saul took the kingdom over Israel and fought against all his enemies on every side against Moab and against the children of Ammon and against Edom and against the kings of Zobah and against the Philistines and whithersoever he turned himself he vexed them 48 And he ‖ Or. wrought might●● gathered an host and smote the Amalekites and delivered Israel out of the hands of them that spoiled them 49 Now the sons of Saul were Jonathan and Ishui and Melchi-shua and the names of his two daughters were these the name of the first-born Merab and the name of the younger father of Abner was the son of Abiel 52 And there was sore war against the Philistines all the days of Saul and when Saul saw any strong man or any valiant man he took him unto him CHAP. homer of wheat and ye shall give the sixth part of an ephah of an homer of barley 14 Concerning the ordinance of oyl the bath of oyl ye shall offer the tenth part of a bath out of the cor which is an homer of-ten baths for ten baths are an homer 15 And one ‖ Or kid lamb out of the flock out of two hundred out of the fat pastures of Israel for a meat-offering and for a burnt-offering and for ‖ Or thank-offerings peace-offerings to make reconciliation for them saith the Lord GOD. 16 All the people of the land † Heb. shall be for shall give this oblation ‖ Or with for the prince in Israel 17 And it shall be the princes part to give burnt-offerings and meat-offerings and drink-offerings in the feasts and in the new-moons and in the sabbaths in all solemnities of the house of Israel he shall prepare the sin-offering and the meat-offering and the burnt-offering and the ‖ Or thank-offerings peace-offerings to make reconciliation for the house of Israel 18 Thus saith the Lord GOD In the first moneth in the first day of the moneth thou shalt take a young bullock without blemish and cleanse the sanctuary 19 And the priest shall take of the bloud of the sin-offering and put it upon the posts of the house and upon the four corners of the settle of the altar and upon the posts of the gate of the inner court 20 And so thou shalt do the seventh day of the moneth for every one that erreth and for him that is simple so shall ye reconcile the house 21 In the first moneth in the fourteenth day of the moneth ye shall have the pass-over a feast of seven days unleavened bread shall be eaten 22 And upon that day shall the prince prepare for himself and for all the people of the land a bullock for a sin-offering 23 And seven days of the feast he shall prepare a burnt-offering to the LORD seven bullocks and seven rams without blemish daily the seven days and a kid of the goats daily for a sin-offering 24 And he shall prepare a meat-offering of an ephah for a bullock and an ephah for a ram and an hin of oyl for an ephah 25 In the seventh moneth in the fifteenth day of the moneth shall he do the like in the * Nu. 29.12 feast of the seven days according to the sin-offering according to the burnt-offering and according to the meat-offering and according to the oyl CHAP. XLVI 1 Ordinances for the prince in his worship 9 and for the people 1● An order for the princes inheritance 19 The courts for boyling and baking THus saith the Lord GOD The gate of the inner court that looketh toward the east shall be shut the six working-days but on the sabbath it shall be opened and in the day of the new-moon it shall be opened 2 And the prince shall enter by the way of the porch of that gate without and shall stand by the post of the gate and the priest shall prepare his burnt-offering and his peace-offerings and he shall worship at the threshold of the gate then he shall go forth but the gate shall not be shut until the evening 3 Likewise the people of the land shall worship at the door of this gate before the LORD in the sabbaths and in the new-moons 4 And the burnt-offering that the prince shall offer unto the LORD in the sabbath-day shall be six lambs without blemish and a ram without blemish 5 And the meat-offering shall be an ephah for a ram and the meat-offering for the lambs † Heb. the ●ist of his hand as he shall be able to give and an hin of oyl to an ephah 6 And in the day of the new-moon it shall be a young bullock without blemish and six lambs and a ram they shall be without blemish 7 And he shall prepare a meat-offering an ephah for a bullock and an ephah for a ram and for the lambs according as his hand shall attain unto and an hin of oyl to an ephah 8 And when the prince shall enter he shall go in by the way of the porch of that gate and he shall go forth by the way thereof 9 ¶ But when the people of the land shall come-before the LORD in the solemn feasts he that entreth in by the way of the north-gate to worship shall go out by the way of the south-gate and he that entreth by the way of the south-gate shall go forth by the way of the north-gate he shall not return by the way of the gate whereby he came in but shall go forth over against it 10 And the prince in the midst of them when they go in shall go in and when they go forth shall go forth 11 And in the feasts and in the solemnities the meat-offering shall be an ephah to a bullock and an ephah to a ram and to the lambs as he is able to give and an hin of oyl to an ephah 12 Now when the prince shall prepare a voluntary burnt-offering or peace-offerings voluntarily unto the LORD one shall then open him the gate that looketh toward the east and he shall prepare his burnt-offering and his peace-offerings as he did on the sabbath-day then he shall go forth and after his going forth one shall shut the gate 13 Thou shalt daily prepare a burnt-offering unto the LORD of a lamb † Heb. a son of his year of the first year without blemish thou shalt prepare it † Heb. morning by morning every morning 14 And thou shalt prepare a meat-offering for it every morning the sixth part of an ephah and the third part of an hin of oyl to temper with the fine flour a meat-offering continually by a perpetual ordinance unto the LORD 15 Thus shall they prepare the lamb and the meat-offering and the oyl every morning for a continual burnt-offering 16 ¶ Thus saith the Lord GOD If the prince give a gift unto any of his sons the inheritance thereof shall be his sons it shall be their possession by inheritance 17 But if he give a gift of his inheritance to one of his servants then it shall be his to the year of liberty after it shall return to the prince but his inheritance shall be his sons for them 18 Moreover the prince shall not take of the peoples inheritance by oppression to thrust them out of their possession but he shall give his sons inheritance out of his own possession that my people be not scattered every man from his possession 19 ¶ After he brought me through the entry which was at the side of the gate into the holy chambers of the priests which looked toward the north and behold there was a place on the two sides west-ward 20 Then said he unto me This is the place where the priests shall boyl the trespass-offering and the sin-offering where they shall bake the meat-offering that they

XXIV 1 Christ foretelleth the destruction o● the temple what and how ●reat calamities shall be before it 29 The signs of his coming to judgement 36 And because that day and hour is unknown 42 we ought to watch like good servants expecting every moment our masters coming ANd * Mar. 13.1 Luke 21.5 Jesus went out and departed from the temple and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple 2 And Jesus said unto them See ye not all these things verily I say unto you * Luke 19.44 There shall not be left here one stone upon another that shall not be thrown down 3 ¶ And as he sat upon the mount of Olives the disciples came unto him privately saying Tell us when shall these things be and what shall be the signe of thy coming and of the end of the world 4 And Jesus answered and said unto them Take heed that no man deceive you 5 For many shall come in my name saying I am Christ and shall deceive many 6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars see that ye be not troubled for all these things must come to pass but the end is not yet 7 For nation shall rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom and there shall be samines and pestilences and earthquakes in divers places 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows 9 * C● 10.17 Luk. 21.12 Joh. 16.2 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted and shall kill you and ye shall be hated of all nations for my names sake 10 And then shall many be offended and shall betray one another and shall hate one another 11 And many false prophets shall rise and shall deceive many 12 And because iniquity shall abound the love of many shall wax cold 13 But he that shall endure unto the end the same shall be saved 14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations and then shall the end come 15 * Mark 2● 14 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation spoken of by * Dan. 9.27 Daniel the prophet stand in the holy place whoso readeth let him understand 16 Then let them which be in Judea flee into the mountains 17 Let him which is on the house-top not come down to take any thing out of his house 18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes 19 And wo unto them that are with childe and to them that give suck in those days 20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter neither on the ●●●●ath day 21 For then shall be great tribulation such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time no nor ever shall be 22 And except those days should be shortned there should no flesh be saved but for the elects sake those days shall be shortned 23 * Ma●k ●3 21 Luk. 17.23 Then if any man shall say unto
that gathereth not with me scattereth 24 * Mat. 12.43 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man he walketh through dry places seeking rest and finding none he saith I will return unto my house whence I came out 25 And when he cometh he findeth it swept and garnished 26 Then goeth he and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked then himself and they enter in and dwell there and the last state of that man is worse then the first 27 ¶ And it came to pass as he spake these things a certain woman of the company lift up her voice and said unto him Blessed is the womb that bare thee and the paps which thou hast sucked 28 But he said Yea rather blessed are they that hear the word of God and keep it 29 ¶ * Mat. 12.38 And when the people were gathered thick together he began to say This is an evil generation they seek a signe and there shall no signe be given it but the signe of Jonas the prophet 30 For as Jonas was a signe unto the Ninevites so shall also the Son of man be to this generation 31 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgement with the men of this generation and condemn them for she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon and behold a greater then Solomon is here 32 The men of Nineve shall rise up in the judgement with this generation and shall condemn it for they repented at the preaching of Jonas and behold a greater then Jonas is here 33 * Mat. 5.15 No man when he hath lighted a candle putteth it in a secret place neither under a ‖ See Mat. 5.15 bushel but on a candlestick that they which come in may see the light 34 * Mat. 6 2● The light of the body is the eye therefore when thine eye is single thy whole body also is full of light but when thine eye is evil thy body also is full of darkness 35 Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness 36 If thy whole body therefore be full of light having no part dark the whole shall be full of light as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light 37 ¶ And as he spake a certain Pharisee besought him to dine with him and he went in and sat down to meat 38 And when the Pharisee saw it he marvelled that he had not first washed before dinner 39 * Mat. 23.25 And the Lord said unto him Now do ye Pharisees make clean the out-side of the cup and the platter but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness 40 Ye fools did not he that made that which is without make that which is within also 41 But rather give alms ‖ Or as you are able of such things as you have and behold all things are clean unto you 42 But wo unto you Pharisees for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs and pass over judgement and the love of God these ought ye to have done and not to leave the other undone 43 * Mat. 1● 6 Wo unto you Pharisees for ye love the uppermost seats in the synagogues and greetings in the markets 44 Wo unto you scribes and Pharisees hypocrites for ye are as graves which appear not and the men that walk over them are not aware of them 45 ¶ Then answered one of the lawyers and said unto him Master thus saying thou reproachest us also 46 * Mat. 23.4 And he said Wo unto you also ye lawyers for ye lade men with burdens grievous to be born and ye your selves touch not the burdens with one of your singers 47 * Mat. 23.29 Wo unto you for ye build the sepulchres of the prophets and your fathers killed them 48 Truly ye bear witness that ye allow the deeds of your fathers for they indeed killed them and ye build their sepulchres 49 Therefore also said the wisdom of God I will send them prophets and apostles and some of them they shall slay and persecute 50 That the bloud of all the prophets which was shed from the foundation of the world may be required of this generation 51 * Gen. 4.8 From the bloud of Abel unto the bloud of Zacharias which perished between the altar and the temple verily I say unto you It shall be required of this generation 52 * Mat. 23.13 Wo unto you sawyers for ye have taken away the key of knowledge ye entred not in your selves and them that were entring in ye ‖ Or forbad hindred 53 And as he said these things unto them the scribes and the Pharisees began to urge him vehentently and to provoke him to speak of many things 54 Laying wait for him and seeking to catch something out of his mouth that they might accuse him CHAP. XII 1 Christ preacheth to his disciples to avoid hypocrisie and fearfulness in publishing his doctrine 13 warneth the people to beware of covetousness by the parable of the rich man who set up greater barns 22 We must not be over careful of earthly things 31 but seek the kingdom of God 33 give alms 36 be ready at a knock to open to our Lord whensoever he cometh 41 Christs ministers are to set to their charge 49 and look for persecution 54 The people must take this time of grace 58 because it is a fearful thing to die without reconciliation IN * Mat. 1● 6 the mean time when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people insomuch that they trode one upon another he began to say unto his disciples first of all Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees which is hypocrine 2 * Mat. 10.26 For there is nothing covered that shall not be revealed neither hid that shall not be known 3 Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the house-tops 4 * Mat. 10.28 And I say unto you my friends Be not afraid of them that kill the body and after that have no more that they can do 5 But I will forewarn you whom you shall fear Fear him which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell yea I say unto you Fear him 6 Are not five sparrows sold for two ‖ See Mat. 10. ●9 farthings and not one of them is forgotten before God 7 But even the very hairs of your head are all numbred Fear not therefore ye are of more value then many sparrows 8 * Mat. 10.32 2 Tim. 2 12 Also I say unto you Whosoever shall confess me before men him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God 9 But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angels of God 10 And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man it
If any man worship the beast and his image and receive his mark in his forehead or in his hand 10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb 11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever and they have no rest day nor night who worship the beast and his image and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name 12 Here is the patience of the saints here are they that keep the commandments of God and the saith of Jesus 13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me Write Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord ‖ Or from henceforth saith the Spirit Yea. from henceforth Yea saith the Spirit that they may rest from their labours and their works do follow them 14 And I looked and behold a white cloud and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man having on his head a golden crown and in his hand a sharp sickle 15 And another angel came out of the temple crying with a load voice to him that sat on the cloud * Joel 3.13 Thrust in thy sickle and reap for the time is come for thee to reap for the harvest of the earth is ‖ Or dried ripe 16 And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth and the earth was reaped 17 And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven he also having a sharp sickle 18 And another angel came out from the altar which had power over fire and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle saying Thrust in thy sharp sickle and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth for her grapes are fully ripe 19 And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth and gathered the vine of the earth and cast it into the great wine-press of the wrath of God 20 And the wine-press was troden without the city and bloud came out of the wine-press even unto the horse-bridles by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs CHAP. XV. 1 The seven angels with the seven last plagues 3 The song of them that overcome the beast 7 The seven vials full of the wrath of God ANd I saw another signe in heaven great and marvellous seven angels having the seven last plagues for in them is filled up the wrath of God 2 And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire and them that had gotten the victory over the beast and over his image and over his mark and over the number of his name stand on the sea of glass having the harps of God 3 And they sing * Exod. 15.1 the song of Moses the servant of God and the song of the Lamb saying Great and marvellous are thy works Lord God Almighty * Psal 145.17 just and true are thy ways thou king of saints 4 * Jer. 10.7 Who shall not fear thee O Lord and glorifie thy name for thou onely art holy for all nations shall come and worship before thee for thy judgements are made manifest 5 And after that I looked and behold the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened 6 And the seven angels came out of the temple having the seven plagues clothed in pure and white linen and having their breasts girded with golden girdles 7 And one of the four beasts gave unto the seven angels seven golden vials full of the wrath of God who liveth for ever and ever 8 And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from his power and no man was able to enter into the temple till the seven plagues of the seven angels were fulfilled CHAP. XVI 2 The angels pour out thrir vials full of wrath 6 The plagues that follow thereupon 15 Christ cometh as a thief Blessed are they that watch ANd I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels Go your ways and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth 2 And the first went and poured out his vial upon the earth and there fell a noisom and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast and upon them which worshipped his image 3 And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea and it became as the bloud of a dead man and every living soul died in the sea 4 And the third angel poured out his vial upon the rivers and fountains of waters and they became bloud 5 And I heard the angel of the waters say Thou art righteous O Lord which art and wast and shalt be because thou hast judged thus 6 For they have shed the bloud of saints and prophets and thou hast given them bloud to drink for they are worthy 7 And I heard another out of the altar say Even so Lord God Almighty true and righteous are thy judgements 8 And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire 9 And men were ‖ Or burned scorched with great heat and blasphemed the name of God which hath power over these plagues and they repented not to give him glory 10 And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast and his kingdom was full of darkness and they gnawed their tongues for pain 11 And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores and repented not of their deeds 12 And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates and the water thereof was dried up that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared 13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon and out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet 14 For they are the spirits of devils working miracles which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world to gather them to the battel of that great day of God Almighty 15 * Matth. 24.43 Chap. 3 3● Behold I come as a thief Blessed is he that watcheth and keepeth his garments lest he walk naked and they see his shame 16 And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon 17 And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven from the throne saying it is done 18 And there were voices and thunders and lightnings and there was a great earthquake such as was not since men were upon the earth so mighty an earthquake and so great 19 And the great city was divided into three parts and the cities of the nations fell and great
