and_o have_v authority_n there_o to_o teach_v public_o now_o into_o this_o synagogue_n our_o saviour_n enter_v at_o this_o time_n to_o teach_v there_o public_o as_o may_v appear_v luke_n 6._o 6._o he_o enter_v into_o the_o synagogue_n and_o teach_v a_o wither_a hand_n or_o a_o hand_n dry_v up_o see_v joh._n 5._o 3._o 1_o king_n 13._o 4._o luke_n 6._o 6._o it_o be_v say_v his_o right_a hand_n be_v wither_v the_o meaning_n be_v that_o the_o natural_a moisture_n of_o it_o be_v dry_v up_o it_o be_v become_v dead_a and_o senseless_a so_o as_o he_o have_v no_o use_n of_o it_o and_o this_o affliction_n be_v the_o more_o grievous_a because_o it_o be_v his_o right_a hand_n of_o which_o he_o shall_v have_v have_v most_o use_v therefore_o the_o want_n of_o the_o use_n of_o it_o must_v needs_o be_v a_o great_a hindrance_n to_o he_o in_o the_o work_n of_o his_o call_v especial_o if_o he_o be_v a_o poor_a man_n that_o have_v no_o other_o mean_n to_o live_v by_o but_o the_o labour_n of_o his_o hand_n thus_o for_o the_o meaning_n of_o the_o word_n in_o the_o first_o verse_n not_o to_o insist_v upon_o the_o circumstance_n of_o the_o place_n but_o to_o come_v to_o the_o second_o circumstance_n the_o occasion_n of_o the_o miracle_n viz._n our_o saviour_n enter_v again_o into_o the_o synagogue_n of_o the_o pharisee_n observe_v observe_v here_o observe_v that_o although_o the_o scribe_n and_o pharisee_n have_v often_o before_o cavil_v at_o the_o doctrine_n and_o miracle_n of_o our_o saviour_n and_o he_o know_v that_o they_o be_v still_o ready_a to_o cavil_n at_o they_o and_o unjust_o to_o slander_v they_o yet_o he_o do_v not_o for_o all_o this_o forbear_v to_o preach_v and_o work_v miracle_n and_o that_o even_o in_o the_o synagogue_n of_o the_o pharisee_n where_o they_o bear_v most_o rule_v and_o where_o he_o know_v they_o will_v be_v present_a and_o therefore_o he_o now_o enter_v into_o this_o their_o synagogue_n there_o to_o preach_v and_o to_o confirm_v his_o doctrine_n by_o this_o miracle_n whence_o we_o learn_v that_o the_o unjust_a and_o malicious_a cavil_n and_o exception_n of_o wicked_a man_n against_o we_o for_o well-doing_n must_v not_o discourage_v or_o hinder_v we_o at_o all_o from_o do_v our_o duty_n but_o we_o must_v go_v on_o constant_o and_o bold_o in_o the_o performance_n of_o they_o notwithstanding_o all_o the_o cavil_v and_o unjust_a slander_n with_o which_o wicked_a man_n labour_v to_o discourage_v and_o hinder_v we_o how_o often_o do_v the_o scribe_n and_o pharisee_n cavil_v at_o the_o doctrine_n and_o miracle_n of_o our_o saviour_n and_o unjust_o slander_v and_o accuse_v he_o for_o the_o same_o and_o yet_o he_o do_v not_o forbear_v to_o preach_v and_o work_v miracle_n no_o not_o then_o when_o the_o pharisee_n and_o scribe_n be_v present_a to_o see_v and_o hear_v what_o he_o do_v and_o speak_v so_o luke_n 5._o 17._o as_o he_o be_v teach_v there_o be_v pharisees_n and_o doctor_n of_o the_o law_n sit_v by_o etc._n etc._n though_o they_o be_v present_a to_o cavil_n as_o our_o saviour_n know_v well_o enough_o yet_o he_o do_v not_o forbear_v to_o preach_v nor_o to_o cure_v the_o sick_a of_o the_o palsy_n at_o the_o same_o time_n though_o the_o prophet_n jeremy_n be_v often_o slander_v and_o false_o accuse_v yet_o he_o do_v not_o forbear_v to_o preach_v as_o we_o may_v see_v jerem._n 26._o 11_o 12._o etc._n etc._n act._n 2._o 13._o though_o the_o apostle_n be_v mock_v at_o and_o accuse_v as_o if_o they_o have_v be_v full_a of_o new_a wine_n when_o they_o preach_v to_o the_o people_n in_o several_a language_n yet_o peter_n be_v not_o daunt_v thereby_o but_o stand_v up_o with_o the_o eleven_o and_o preach_v christ_n to_o the_o people_n so_o act._n 17._o though_o the_o athenian_a philosopher_n cavil_v at_o paul_n and_o call_v he_o a_o babbler_n yet_o he_o bold_o preach_v to_o they_o and_o reprove_v their_o idolatry_n ver_fw-la 22._o etc._n etc._n by_o these_o example_n we_o see_v that_o beforehand_o against_o all_o such_o cavil_v and_o slander_v of_o wicked_a man_n make_v this_o account_n that_o if_o we_o will_v do_v well_o we_o shall_v be_v evil_a speak_v of_o by_o wicked_a and_o ungodly_a man_n for_o this_o have_v ever_o be_v the_o property_n of_o such_o to_o speak_v evil_a of_o the_o thing_n they_o know_v not_o 2_o pet._n 2._o 12._o but_o we_o must_v pray_v unto_o god_n to_o give_v we_o christian_a courage_n and_o that_o we_o may_v not_o fear_v the_o cavil_v and_o evil_a speech_n or_o censure_n of_o wicked_a man_n which_o they_o give_v out_o against_o we_o for_o do_v well_o but_o that_o we_o may_v contemn_v they_o and_o never_o regard_v they_o at_o least_o so_o far_o as_o not_o to_o be_v hinder_v by_o they_o from_o do_v our_o duty_n eccles_n 11._o 4._o he_o that_o observe_v the_o wind_n shall_v not_o sow_v etc._n etc._n so_o he_o that_o regard_v evil_a speech_n and_o censure_n of_o other_o shall_v never_o go_v on_o constant_o in_o do_v his_o duty_n so_o much_o of_o the_o occasion_n of_o this_o miracle_n our_o saviour_n enter_v into_o the_o synagogue_n again_o now_o follow_v the_o three_o circumstance_n viz._n the_o person_n on_o who_o the_o miracle_n be_v wrought_v one_o that_o have_v a_o wither_a hand_n hence_o i_o may_v observe_v the_o fruit_n of_o sin_n in_o that_o it_o have_v make_v man_n body_n subject_a to_o such_o disease_n and_o infirmity_n as_o this_o here_o mention_v but_o of_o this_o point_n see_v before_o in_o chapter_n 1._o verse_n 34._o it_o follow_v verse_n 2._o they_o watch_v he_o diligent_o observe_v he_o whether_o he_o will_v when_o god_n shall_v call_v we_o to_o it_o either_o in_o our_o life_n time_n or_o at_o our_o death_n though_o we_o be_v not_o to_o imitate_v popish_a friar_n and_o monk_n who_o without_o a_o calling_n do_v forsake_v their_o good_n and_o vow_v voluntary_a poverty_n yet_o if_o god_n call_v we_o to_o part_v with_o all_o we_o have_v for_o his_o name_n sake_n or_o for_o the_o profession_n of_o his_o 5._o in_o these_o synagogue_n they_o usual_o assemble_v on_o the_o sabbath_n day_n for_o public_a prayer_n and_o for_o the_o public_a read_n and_o preach_v of_o the_o word_n as_o may_v appear_v act_v absence_n from_o thence_o so_o much_o of_o the_o first_o antecedent_n our_o saviour_n return_n by_o ship_n into_o galilee_n the_o second_o follow_v which_o be_v the_o great_a concourse_n of_o the_o
