immediate_o follow_v and_o so_o by_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n they_o understand_v nothing_o else_o but_o the_o kingly_a glory_n and_o majesty_n of_o christ_n himself_o the_o son_n of_o god_n and_o opposition_n and_o trouble_n let_v he_o be_v sure_o the_o devil_n and_o his_o instrument_n will_v stir_v against_o he_o and_o labour_n to_o discourage_v he_o all_o they_o can_v the_o devil_n know_v in_o these_o first_o word_n our_o saviour_n seem_v to_o speak_v proper_o of_o the_o chief_a and_o high_a ruler_n or_o magistrate_n among_o the_o gentile_n viz._n of_o their_o king_n and_o prince_n as_o in_o the_o word_n follow_v he_o speak_v rather_o of_o subordinate_a or_o inferior_a ruler_n so_o matth._n 20._o 25._o you_o know_v that_o the_o prince_n of_o the_o gentile_n etc._n etc._n and_o luke_n 22._o 25._o the_o king_n of_o the_o gentile_n etc._n etc._n now_o by_o gentiles_n understand_v here_o as_o in_o other_o place_n of_o scripture_n all_o other_o nation_n beside_o the_o jew_n so_o call_v to_o distinguish_v they_o from_o the_o nation_n of_o the_o jew_n be_v the_o only_a peculiar_a people_n of_o god_n in_o time_n of_o the_o old_a testament_n whereas_o all_o other_o nation_n be_v profane_a and_o exclude_v from_o god_n covenant_n ephes_n 2._o quest_n quest_n why_o do_v he_o allege_v the_o ruler_n of_o the_o gentile_n etc._n etc._n answ_n answ_n 1._o because_o the_o jew_n than_o have_v no_o king_n sovereign_a or_o civil_a governor_n etc._n etc._n 2._o because_o the_o sin_n of_o ambition_n most_o reign_v among_o the_o gentile_n exercise_v lordship_n over_o they_o that_o be_v a_o sovereign_a power_n and_o authority_n in_o rule_v over_o they_o and_o their_o great_a one_o such_o as_o be_v next_o in_o greatness_n of_o power_n and_o authority_n unto_o their_o king_n prince_n or_o chief_a ruler_n for_o here_o he_o seem_v to_o speak_v of_o subordinate_a magistrate_n and_o governor_n ut_fw-la supra_fw-la dictum_fw-la note_v here_o that_o our_o saviour_n do_v not_o condemn_v the_o use_n or_o exercise_v of_o civil_a magistracy_n or_o government_n among_o the_o gentile_n but_o their_o ambitious_a affect_v desire_v and_o seek_v after_o such_o a_o dominion_n and_o lordship_n over_o other_o and_o he_o allege_v this_o example_n thereby_o to_o dissuade_v his_o disciple_n from_o this_o ambitious_a desire_n as_o also_o to_o forbid_v his_o apostle_n be_v minister_n of_o the_o gospel_n to_o take_v upon_o they_o any_o such_o external_a power_n as_o the_o civil_a ruler_n do_v observe_v 1_o observe_v 1._o the_o light_n of_o nature_n teach_v the_o necessity_n and_o use_n of_o doctrine_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n which_o also_o teach_v the_o necessity_n and_o use_n of_o magistrate_n and_o governor_n in_o the_o commonwealth_n justify_v their_o authority_n to_o be_v from_o god_n so_o rom._n 13._o and_o elsewhere_o in_o scripture_n use_v use_v to_o convince_v the_o gross_a error_n of_o the_o anabaptist_n deny_v the_o use_n and_o necessity_n of_o civil_a
to_o pray_v for_o the_o happiness_n or_o prosperity_n of_o it_o because_o that_o kingdom_n can_v but_o be_v happy_a and_o prosperous_a neither_o be_v there_o any_o thing_n that_o can_v hinder_v the_o sacrament_n 3._o the_o calling_n and_o send_v of_o christian_a magistrate_n who_o by_o their_o authority_n may_v take_v order_n for_o the_o erect_n and_o establish_v of_o the_o public_a ministry_n in_o the_o church_n 4._o christian_n school_n of_o learning_n which_o be_v the_o seminary_n and_o nursery_n of_o the_o church_n to_o furnish_v it_o with_o able_a minister_n now_o when_o god_n do_v in_o a_o good_a and_o plentiful_a manner_n reveal_v or_o send_v these_o mean_n to_o we_o which_o seem_v to_o advance_v christ_n kingdom_n then_o may_v his_o kingdom_n be_v say_v to_o prosper_v 2._o the_o prosperity_n of_o christ_n kingdom_n stand_v further_a and_o that_o principal_o in_o the_o happy_a fruit_n and_o success_n of_o those_o mean_n which_o the_o church_n enjoy_v and_o which_o tend_v send_v forth_o labourer_n etc._n etc._n so_o for_o christian_a magistrate_n that_o they_o may_v by_o their_o authority_n further_o christ_n kingdom_n 1_o tim._n 2._o 1_o 2._o pray_v for_o king_n etc._n etc._n that_o we_o may_v under_o they_o lead_v a_o peaceable_a life_n in_o all_o godliness_n and_o honesty_n now_o to_o pray_v for_o these_o mean_n of_o advance_v christ_n kingdom_n be_v to_o pray_v for_o the_o prosperity_n of_o his_o kingdom_n reas_n 1_o reason_n 1._o we_o all_o profess_v to_o be_v subject_n of_o christ_n kingdom_n now_o it_o be_v the_o duty_n of_o all_o subject_n to_o outward_a and_o ordinary_a call_v and_o succession_n and_o to_o exclude_v they_o from_o be_v lawful_a pastor_n and_o teacher_n of_o the_o church_n especial_o if_o they_o teach_v any_o doctrine_n which_o seem_v new_a or_o strange_a though_o it_o be_v not_o so_o but_o the_o old_a truth_n and_o if_o they_o plain_o reprove_v sin_n and_o tax_v abuse_n in_o the_o church_n thus_o do_v these_o
