the_o prelate_n and_o clergy_n crope_v up_o unto_o before_o the_o exaltation_n and_o supremacy_n of_o the_o pope_n the_o mystery_n of_o who_o iniquity_n be_v next_o to_o be_v consider_v to_o god_n be_v glory_n for_o ever_o the_o second_o part_n of_o the_o xiii_o chapter_n of_o the_o revelation_n begin_v at_o the_o xi_o verse_n verse_n xi_o and_o i_o heheld_v another_o beast_n come_v up_o out_o general_a who_o under_o the_o title_n of_o the_o catholic_a church_n militant_a exalt_v themselves_o to_o work_v iniquity_n and_o bring_v the_o nation_n into_o captivity_n and_o bondage_n to_o their_o tradition_n be_v resemble_v by_o a_o seven-headed_a beast_n so_o here_o after_o much_o strive_n among_o themselves_o who_o shall_v be_v the_o chief_a and_o great_a not_o be_v content_a with_o former_a riches_n honour_n and_o earthly_a promotion_n but_o aspire_v high_o at_o last_o the_o prelate_n of_o rome_n in_o particular_a attain_v to_o this_o title_n and_o dignity_n to_o be_v christ_n vicar_n peter_n successor_n and_o universal_a bishop_n and_o under_o that_o title_n pretend_v a_o fullness_n of_o power_n and_o supremacy_n over_o all_o person_n and_o cause_n and_o therefore_o be_v here_o resemble_v and_o fore_o show_v by_o a_o beast_n etc._n etc._n first_o whereas_o it_o be_v say_v of_o this_o beast_n that_o it_o come_v out_o of_o the_o earth_n thereby_o be_v signify_v that_o the_o high_a degree_n and_o dignity_n whereunto_o the_o prelate_n of_o rome_n have_v aspire_v and_o exalt_v themselves_o be_v not_o from_o heaven_n it_o be_v from_o the_o earth_n earthly_a it_o be_v a_o plant_n which_o our_o heavenly_a father_n have_v not_o plant_v and_o therefore_o shall_v in_o the_o end_n be_v root_v out_o concern_v the_o come_n up_o of_o this_o beast_n it_o be_v to_o be_v mind_v as_o the_o star_n of_o heaven_n light_n and_o guide_v unto_o other_o but_o at_o the_o open_n of_o the_o six_o seal_n john_n see_v the_o star_n fall_v from_o heaven_n to_o the_o earth_n as_o a_o which_o be_v fulfil_v and_o come_v to_o pass_v as_o all_o may_v see_v that_o be_v not_o willing_o blind_a among_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o fall_v star_n to_o one_o be_v give_v the_o key_n of_o the_o bottomless_a pit_n rev._n 9_o 1._o whereby_o be_v signify_v that_o power_n and_o pre-eminence_n shall_v be_v give_v to_o one_o of_o the_o fall_v star_n above_o the_o rest_n which_o thing_n be_v effect_v &_o come_v to_o pass_v when_o phocas_n be_v emperor_n he_o promote_v boniface_n than_o prelate_n of_o rome_n to_o be_v universal_a bishop_n and_o to_o have_v power_n and_o jurisdiction_n over_o all_o other_o bishop_n which_o thing_n when_o phocas_n have_v do_v this_o abaddon_n king_n of_o locust_n with_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o brood_n of_o the_o bottomless_a pit_n that_o succeed_v he_o who_o have_v the_o open_n and_o shut_v of_o purgatory_n at_o their_o pleasure_n so_o prevail_v in_o time_n that_o they_o exalt_v themselves_o above_o emperor_n and_o king_n which_o thing_n they_o can_v never_o have_v do_v have_v they_o not_o first_o besot_v the_o nation_n in_o blind_a devotion_n to_o impoverish_v themselves_o to_o feed_v these_o locust_n under_o the_o title_n of_o the_o church_n and_o in_o hope_n of_o merit_v thereby_o and_o to_o be_v release_v from_o their_o sin_n and_o from_o the_o suppose_a pain_n of_o purgatory_n for_o have_v the_o pope_n that_o prelate_n of_o rome_n be_v as_o destitute_a of_o worldly_a wealth_n and_o as_o well_o furnish_v with_o spiritual_a grace_n as_o peter_z and_o john_n be_v when_o they_o go_v up_o into_o the_o temple_n to_o pray_v and_o heal_v the_o lame_a man_n he_o have_v never_o set_v his_o foot_n upon_o the_o emperor_n neck_n for_o as_o much_o therefore_o as_o the_o romish_a prelate_n from_o a_o mean_a and_o lowly_a estate_n and_o degree_n in_o the_o world_n have_v creep_v up_o and_o be_v exalt_v above_o king_n and_o emperor_n and_o see_v worldly_a wealth_n and_o riches_n have_v be_v the_o mean_n whereby_o he_o have_v get_v the_o pre-eminence_n very_o significant_o be_v this_o upstart_n resemble_v and_o prefigure_v by_o a_o beast_n come_v up_o out_o of_o the_o earth_n again_o it_o be_v say_v of_o this_o beast_n that_o it_o have_v two_o horn_n like_o the_o lamb_n by_o horn_n in_o the_o scripture_n be_v usual_o signify_v power_n and_o authority_n and_o by_o the_o lamb_n be_v mean_v christ_n jesus_n who_o have_v all_o power_n in_o heaven_n and_o earth_n give_v to_o he_o mat._n 28.18_o so_o that_o hereby_o be_v show_v that_o the_o prelate_n of_o rome_n will_v challenge_v and_o usurp_v great_a power_n and_o authority_n which_o he_o persuade_v the_o world_n do_v belong_v unto_o he_o as_o be_v christ_n vicar_n and_o under_o this_o pretence_n usurp_v a_o twofold_a power_n and_o jurisdiction_n both_o civil_a and_o ecclesiastical_a not_o in_o earth_n only_o but_o in_o heaven_n also_o what_o he_o bind_v in_o earth_n be_v bind_v in_o heaven_n and_o who_o he_o will_v he_o can_v release_v from_o the_o pain_n of_o purgatory_n and_o place_v they_o in_o heaven_n therefore_o in_o token_n of_o this_o his_o power_n he_o be_v arm_v with_o two_o sword_n which_o thing_n be_v plain_o signify_v by_o the_o two_o horn_n which_o he_o have_v like_o the_o lamb._n but_o though_o the_o beast_n will_v be_v the_o lamb_n equal_a and_o resemble_v he_o in_o power_n yet_o his_o voice_n betray_v he_o to_o be_v but_o a_o counterfeit_n and_o a_o dissemble_a hypocrite_n he_o speak_v like_o the_o dragon_n he_o pretend_v property_n to_o that_o which_o be_v not_o his_o own_o and_o exalt_v himself_o against_o those_o unto_o who_o he_o shall_v submit_v and_o give_v honour_n even_o as_o
the_o dragon_n say_v of_o the_o kingdom_n of_o the_o world_n 4.6_o luk._n 4.6_o all_o these_o be_v in_o my_o power_n i_o give_v they_o to_o who_o i_o will_v so_o likewise_o say_v this_o beast_n his_o vicar_n the_o prelate_n of_o rome_n the_o empire_n and_o kingdom_n of_o the_o earth_n be_v in_o my_o power_n and_o at_o my_o disposition_n and_o to_o i_o it_o belong_v to_o depose_v and_o set_v up_o likewise_o in_o divers_a other_o particular_a blasphemous_a speech_n and_o devilish_a doctrine_n further_o it_o be_v say_v of_o this_o beast_n that_o he_o exercise_v all_o the_o power_n of_o the_o first_o beast_n before_o he_o and_o cause_v the_o earth_n and_o they_o which_o dwell_v therein_o to_o worship_v the_o first_o beast_n who_o deadly_a wound_n be_v heal_v in_o that_o this_o beast_n be_v say_v to_o exercise_v all_o the_o power_n of_o the_o first_o beast_n before_o he_o thereby_o be_v signify_v that_o what_o the_o first_o beast_n can_v do_v by_o her_o motherly_a authority_n and_o power_n under_o the_o usurp_a title_n and_o name_n of_o the_o holy_a church_n the_o same_o can_v this_o beast_n do_v by_o the_o authority_n and_o power_n of_o his_o fatherhood_n under_o the_o title_n &_o pretence_n of_o christ_n vicar_n &_o peter_n successor_n universal_a bishop_n etc._n etc._n but_o that_o this_o beast_n may_v yet_o further_o be_v discern_v it_o be_v say_v of_o he_o that_o he_o cause_v the_o earth_n and_o those_o which_o dwell_v therein_o to_o worship_v the_o first_o beast_n etc._n etc._n by_o cause_v the_o earth_n to_o worship_v the_o first_o beast_n be_v foreshow_v that_o the_o pope_n will_v exact_v of_o the_o earth_n the_o ten_o part_n of_o the_o fruit_n thereof_o for_o the_o maintenance_n of_o the_o holy_a church_n and_o this_o be_v indeed_o to_o worship_n for_o as_o the_o pay_n of_o tithe_n in_o the_o time_n of_o the_o law_n be_v a_o part_n of_o the_o true_a outward_a worship_n of_o god_n so_o this_o be_v the_o worship_n of_o the_o beast_n and_o further_o by_o cause_v the_o inhabitant_n of_o the_o earth_n also_o to_o worship_v the_o first_o beast_n be_v show_v that_o he_o will_v careful_o see_v due_a homage_n service_n and_o obedience_n to_o be_v yield_v and_o perform_v to_o the_o holy_a church_n so_o that_o though_o the_o prelate_n of_o rome_n as_o a_o son_n of_o perdition_n do_v exalt_v himself_o above_o measure_n yet_o still_o do_v he_o maintain_v the_o power_n and_o dignity_n of_o the_o catholic_a church_n the_o estimation_n of_o her_o motherhood_n must_v still_o be_v maintain_v her_o voice_n must_v still_o be_v hear_v and_o obey_v not_o to_o come_v when_o she_o call_v be_v contumacy_n and_o contempt_n not_o to_o be_v endure_v they_o that_o dare_v so_o far_o to_o despise_v her_o authority_n as_o not_o to_o obey_v her_o paritor_n process_n be_v by_o her_o doom_n to_o be_v account_v curse_a child_n and_o worthy_a of_o no_o less_o censure_n and_o punishment_n then_o to_o be_v strike_v with_o that_o terrible_a thunderbolt_n of_o her_o excommunication_n the_o violence_n whereof_o be_v such_o as_o who_o can_v endure_v it_o who_o will_v not_o rather_o ride_v run_v dance_v attendance_n crouch_v kneel_v pay_v pray_v or_o do_v any_o thing_n else_o which_o master_n official_a or_o his_o register_n will_v enjoin_v they_o then_o undergo_v so_o heavy_a a_o burden_n as_o the_o censure_n of_o excommunication_n thus_o will_v the_o pope_n have_v the_o magnificence_n of_o this_o diana_n to_o be_v maintain_v the_o earth_n and_o those_o which_o dwell_v in_o it_o must_v yield_v unto_o she_o the_o tithe_n of_o all_o their_o the_o pope_n glory_n never_o a_o jot_n the_o two_o estate_n of_o the_o whore_n and_o false_a prophet_n can_v well_o agree_v and_o stand_v together_o as_o father_n and_o mother_n in_o one_o family_n and_o therefore_o the_o second_o beast_n as_o father_n of_o all_o will_v have_v the_o first_o beast_n worship_v that_o be_v obey_v and_o maintain_v in_o glory_n as_o mother_n of_o all_o and_o further_o observe_v in_o that_o the_o pope_n have_v execute_v all_o authority_n of_o the_o catholic_a church_n thereby_o be_v confirm_v the_o truth_n of_o the_o exposition_n that_o the_o first_o beast_n be_v the_o catholic_a church_n and_o the_o second_o beast_n the_o pope_n as_o have_v be_v before_o observe_v and_o he_o do_v great_a wonder_n so_o that_o he_o make_v fire_n to_o come_v down_o from_o heaven_n on_o earth_n in_o the_o sight_n of_o man_n first_o by_o the_o wonder_n which_o he_o do_v be_v foreshow_v what_o wonderful_a thing_n the_o prelate_n of_o rome_n that_o false_a prophet_n shall_v bring_v to_o pass_v as_o namely_o under_o the_o title_n of_o the_o servant_n of_o the_o servant_n of_o god_n which_o indeed_o all_o minister_n of_o the_o word_n and_o other_o church_n officer_n ought_v to_o be_v to_o creep_v up_o and_o exalt_v himself_o above_o emperor_n and_o king_n and_o all_o other_o estate_n in_o the_o earth_n which_o be_v consider_v be_v indeed_o a_o thing_n wonderful_a for_o first_o the_o prelacy_n and_o clergy_n in_o respect_n of_o the_o pretend_a holiness_n of_o their_o order_n be_v exempt_v and_o free_v from_o be_v subject_n to_o any_o secular_a holy_a scripture_n that_o these_o and_o the_o like_a gross_a doctrine_n be_v believe_v and_o receive_v be_v great_a wonder_n further_o he_o make_v fire_n to_o come_v down_o from_o heaven_n on_o the_o earth_n in_o the_o sight_n of_o man_n etc._n etc._n by_o fire_n in_o this_o place_n be_v foreshow_v the_o punishment_n which_o shall_v be_v inflict_v on_o the_o saint_n which_o be_v burn_v with_o we_o be_v fall_v and_o be_v enemy_n and_o opposer_n of_o christ_n and_o his_o kingdom_n it_o do_v behoove_v we_o to_o know_v they_o to_o the_o end_n that_o we_o may_v eschew_v they_o and_o their_o and_o dominion_n they_o be_v the_o very_a image_n of_o the_o first_o beast_n before_o mention_v but_o be_v now_o separate_v from_o the_o pope_n and_o church_n of_o rome_n they_o think_v as_o it_o shall_v seem_v that_o their_o spiritual_a pontifical_a power_n and_o authority_n which_o they_o exercise_v be_v lawful_a and_o warrantable_a and_o to_o be_v submit_v unto_o they_o be_v gather_v together_o boast_v themselves_o to_o be_v the_o representative_a body_n of_o the_o church_n of_o england_n and_o the_o true_a church_n of_o christ_n and_o that_o they_o have_v power_n to_o make_v law_n and_o canon_n for_o government_n thereof_o and_o for_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n which_o all_o man_n ought_v to_o yield_v obedience_n unto_o as_o appeareth_z by_o divers_a of_o their_o book_n
