efficacy_n it_o work_v in_o the_o mind_n of_o those_o who_o read_v it_o etc._n etc._n i_o think_v there_o be_v evident_a demonstration_n against_o the_o paradox_n for_o as_o i_o note_v disc_n 1._o c._n 2._o 12._o n._n 4._o two_o thing_n be_v to_o be_v consider_v in_o scripture_n first_o the_o exterior_a syntax_n or_o connexion_n of_o the_o word_n and_o so_o much_o precise_o be_v not_o the_o scripture_n total_a infallibility_n which_o say_v more_o beside_o that_o exterior_a language_n and_o necessary_o imply_v a_o divine_a act_n a_o volition_n or_o decree_n of_o god_n whereby_o the_o hagiographer_n that_o write_v the_o word_n be_v infallible_o assist_v and_o determine_v to_o record_v truth_n and_o nothing_o but_o truth_n now_o this_o divine_a volition_n or_o decree_n because_o it_o be_v essential_a to_o god_n and_o therefore_o no_o other_o but_o god_n himself_o can_v be_v no_o object_n of_o our_o sense_n when_o we_o hear_v or_o read_v scripture_n consequent_o it_o be_v to_o be_v discover_v by_o a_o discourse_n ground_v on_o principle_n distinct_a from_o the_o outward_a letter_n of_o scripture_n whereby_o we_o may_v come_v to_o a_o sure_a evidence_n of_o its_o infallibility_n not_o at_o all_o yet_o within_o the_o reach_n of_o our_o sense_n and_o this_o no_o sectary_n can_v do_v as_o i_o shall_v present_o make_v evident_a 17._o i_o say_v therefore_o if_o the_o motive_n now_o allege_v for_o the_o church_n infallibility_n as_o conversion_n miracle_n universality_n etc._n etc._n induce_v not_o immediate_o to_o believe_v that_o church_n they_o john_n gospel_n can_v more_o discover_v a_o infallibility_n in_o it_o by_o force_n of_o the_o outward_a word_n then_o if_o they_o have_v be_v casual_o write_v by_o one_o without_o infallible_a assistance_n i_o think_v he_o will_v not_o dare_v to_o say_v yes_o or_o if_o he_o do_v i_o will_v urge_v he_o to_o prove_v it_o by_o principle_n when_o the_o outward_a word_n be_v the_o very_o same_o in_o both_o case_n and_o in_o like_a manner_n clear_a to_o all_o that_o read_v they_o my_o second_o demand_n may_v yet_o perhaps_o better_a evidence_n what_o i_o aim_v at_o and_o be_v thus_o suppose_v that_o our_o sectary_n shall_v put_v the_o book_n of_o eclesiastes_n which_o they_o hold_v canonical_a into_o the_o hand_n of_o twelve_o learned_a gentile_a philosopher_n and_o with_o it_o the_o book_n of_o wisdom_n or_o eclesiasticus_n also_o not_o hold_v canonical_a by_o they_o suppose_v again_o they_o desire_v these_o learned_a and_o disinterress_v man_n serious_o to_o read_v these_o three_o book_n and_o after_o the_o read_v sincere_o to_o tell_v they_o which_o of_o they_o have_v god_n spirit_n in_o it_o or_o contain_v his_o infallible_a verity_n for_o this_o may_v be_v easy_o gather_v by_o the_o very_a natural_a evidence_n of_o what_o they_o read_v by_o the_o majesty_n of_o the_o style_n efficacy_n of_o speak_v which_o appear_v clear_o enough_o in_o the_o outward_a letter_n thus_o much_o do_v separate_v these_o philosopher_n by_o four_o and_o four_o into_o three_o company_n put_v they_o into_o three_o different_a cell_n much_o after_o that_o manner_n as_o some_o say_v the_o sevent_o interpreter_n be_v separate_v let_v they_o with_o all_o sincerity_n read_v examine_v and_o peruse_v these_o book_n and_o if_o when_o the_o work_n be_v end_v they_o unanimous_o accord_v that_o a_o great_a divinity_n a_o strong_a infallibility_n appear_v in_o the_o song_n of_o solomon_n then_o in_o the_o other_o two_o book_n we_o will_v say_v something_o be_v prove_v and_o sintax_n and_o mack_o where_o the_o force_n of_o the_o difficulty_n lie_v as_o infallibility_n necessary_o imply_v divine_a assistance_n in_o order_n to_o the_o truth_n deliver_v in_o holy_a scripture_n so_o the_o suppose_a fallibility_n of_o the_o church_n definition_n imply_v a_o want_n of_o that_o assistance_n in_o order_n to_o those_o definition_n i_o ask_v therefore_o whether_o as_o the_o first_o be_v discernible_a and_o visible_a enough_o to_o their_o eye_n by_o the_o very_a context_n of_o the_o outward_a letter_n they_o will_v consequent_o grant_v that_o the_o other_o also_o be_v as_o clear_o visible_a and_o discernible_a by_o the_o very_a word_n of_o the_o definition_n if_o they_o answer_v yes_o first_o they_o need_v not_o hereafter_o to_o impugn_v the_o church_n definition_n by_o any_o other_o medium_fw-la but_o this_o that_o they_o be_v without_o further_a proof_n by_o themselves_o evident_o fallible_a so_o much_o be_v say_v by_o they_o and_o it_o proof_n enough_o 2._o they_o may_v as_o well_o say_v they_o know_v when_o a_o man_n tell_v we_o a_o lie_v and_o this_o by_o force_n of_o his_o very_a speak_n as_o that_o they_o know_v the_o suppose_a fallibility_n of_o the_o church_n definition_n by_o her_o speak_n for_o if_o their_o eye_n can_v discern_v the_o want_n of_o divine_a assistance_n in_o the_o one_o case_n which_o real_o be_v not_o want_v they_o may_v more_o easy_o discern_v the_o want_n of_o truth_n in_o the_o other_o which_o real_o be_v want_v and_o if_o this_o be_v not_o a_o paradox_n there_o be_v never_o any_o in_o the_o world_n now_o contrariwise_o if_o they_o can_v discover_v the_o church_n suppose_a fallibility_n in_o her_o definition_n mere_o by_o her_o exterior_a word_n because_o that_o be_v a_o thing_n
