priest_n or_o deacon_n in_o the_o church_n chappel_n or_o place_n of_o public_a worship_n where_o the_o say_a sermon_n or_o lecture_n be_v to_o be_v preach_v before_o such_o sermon_n or_o lecture_n be_v preach_v and_o that_o the_o lecturer_n then_o to_o preach_v shall_v be_v present_a at_o the_o read_n thereof_o provide_v nevertheless_o that_o this_o act_n shall_v not_o extend_v to_o the_o university_n church_n university_n proviso_n for_o sermon_n and_o lecture_n in_o the_o university_n in_o the_o university_n of_o this_o realm_n or_o either_o of_o they_o when_o or_o at_o such_o time_n same_o sermon_n and_o lecture_n may_v be_v preach_v or_o read_v in_o such_o sort_n and_o manner_n as_o the_o same_o have_v be_v heretofore_o preach_v or_o read_v this_o act_n or_o any_o thing_n herein_o contain_v to_o the_o contrary_a thereof_o in_o any_o wise_n notwithstanding_o and_o be_v it_o further_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a that_o the_o several_a good_a law_n law_n such_o read_n thereof_o shall_v open_o and_o public_o before_o the_o congregation_n there_o assemble_v declare_v his_o unfeigned_a assent_n and_o consent_n unto_o and_o approbation_n of_o the_o say_a read_v the_o common_a prayer_n and_o service_n appoint_v by_o the_o say_a book_n and_o conform_v in_o all_o point_n to_o the_o thing_n therein_o appoint_v and_o prescribe_v according_a to_o the_o purport_n true_a intent_n and_o meaning_n of_o this_o act._n provide_v always_o that_o if_o the_o say_a sermon_n church_n lecture_n in_o cathedral_n or_o collegiate_n church_n or_o lecture_n be_v to_o be_v preach_v or_o read_v in_o any_o cathedral_n or_o collegiate_n church_n or_o chappel_n it_o shall_v be_v sufficient_a for_o the_o say_a lecturer_n open_o at_o the_o time_n aforesaid_a to_o declare_v his_o assent_n and_o consent_n to_o all_o thing_n contain_v in_o the_o say_a book_n according_a to_o the_o form_n aforesaid_a and_o be_v it_o further_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a fine_a the_o penalty_n upon_o person_n disable_v that_o preach_v 15_o car._n 2._o cap._n 6._o in_o fine_a that_o if_o any_o person_n who_o be_v by_o this_o act_n disable_v to_o preach_v any_o lecture_n or_o sermon_n shall_v during_o the_o time_n that_o he_o shall_v continue_v and_o remain_v so_o disable_v preach_v any_o sermon_n or_o lecture_n that_o then_o for_o every_o such_o offence_n the_o person_n and_o person_n so_o offend_v shall_v suffer_v three_o month_n imprisonment_n in_o the_o common_a goal_n without_o bail_n or_o mainprize_n and_o that_o any_o two_o justice_n of_o the_o peace_n of_o any_o county_n of_o this_o kingdom_n and_o place_n aforesaid_a and_o the_o mayor_n or_o other_o chief_a magistrate_n of_o any_o city_n or_o town_n corporate_a within_o the_o same_o upon_o certificate_n from_o the_o ordinary_a of_o the_o place_n make_v to_o he_o or_o they_o of_o the_o offence_n commit_v shall_v and_o be_v hereby_o require_v to_o commit_v the_o person_n or_o person_n so_o offend_v to_o the_o
acknowledgement_n before_o the_o respective_a archbishop_n bishop_n or_o ordinary_a of_o the_o diocese_n or_o vicechancellor_n aforesaid_a respective_o and_o that_o every_o such_o parson_n vicar_n curate_n or_o lecturer_n shall_v procure_v a_o certificate_n under_o the_o hand_n and_o seal_n of_o the_o respective_a archbishop_n bishop_n or_o ordinary_a of_o the_o diocese_n who_o be_v hereby_o require_v and_o enjoin_v upon_o demand_n to_o make_v and_o deliver_v such_o certificate_n and_o shall_v public_o and_o open_o read_v the_o same_o together_o with_o the_o declaration_n or_o acknowledgement_n aforesaid_a upon_o some_o lord_n day_n within_o three_o month_n then_o next_o follow_v such_o subscription_n in_o his_o parish_n church_n where_o he_o be_v to_o officiate_v in_o the_o presence_n of_o the_o congregation_n then_o assemble_v in_o the_o time_n of_o divine_a service_n and_o be_v it_o further_o enact_v and_o declare_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a that_o every_o subscription_n already_o make_v or_o hereafter_o to_o be_v make_v before_o any_o vicar-general_n or_o chancellor_n to_o any_o archbishop_n or_o bishop_n or_o commissary_n to_o the_o archbishop_n of_o canterbury_n or_o any_o other_o bishop_n be_v and_o shall_v be_v as_o effectual_a and_o beneficial_a in_o law_n to_o all_o intent_n and_o purpose_n to_o every_o person_n and_o person_n which_o have_v or_o shall_v make_v such_o subscription_n as_o aforesaid_a as_o if_o the_o same_o have_v be_v make_v before_o the_o archbishop_n or_o bishop_n of_o the_o province_n or_o great_a be_v like_a to_o grow_v if_o some_o help_n therefore_o be_v not_o provide_v beside_o the_o extraordinary_a preservation_n of_o the_o highway_n in_o and_o near_o the_o say_a city_n and_o county_n navigable_a commissioner_n how_o to_o be_v appoint_v for_o make_v the_o river_n avon_n navigable_a be_v it_o therefore_o enact_v by_o the_o king_n majesty_n by_o and_o with_o the_o advice_n and_o consent_n of_o the_o lord_n spiritual_a and_o temporal_a and_o commons_o in_o this_o present_a parliament_n assemble_v and_o by_o the_o authority_n of_o the_o same_o that_o the_o lord_n chancellor_n or_o lord_n keeper_n of_o the_o great_a seal_n of_o england_n for_o the_o time_n be_v at_o any_o time_n after_o the_o end_n of_o this_o present_a session_n of_o parliament_n shall_v and_o may_v nominate_v appoint_v and_o authorise_v by_o commission_n under_o the_o great_a seal_n of_o england_n such_o person_n or_o person_n body_n politic_a and_o corporate_a as_o to_o he_o shall_v and_o to_o make_v a_o new_a haven_n if_o need_v require_v for_o ship_n and_o vessel_n near_o the_o say_a town_n of_o christ-church_n which_o say_v undertaker_n so_o nominate_v and_o appoint_v as_o aforesaid_a be_v hereby_o authorize_v and_o shall_v have_v full_a power_n and_o authority_n by_o this_o present_a act_n to_o make_v navigable_a or_o passable_a by_o barge_n boat_n lighter_n or_o for_o the_o raker_n scavenger_n or_o other_o officer_n appoint_v for_o that_o purpose_n to_o carry_v away_o penalty_n the_o penalty_n for_o neglect_v thereof_o none_o to_o cast_v any_o ash_n or_o dust_n before_o their_o house_n the_o penalty_n upon_o pain_n to_o forfeit_v three_o shilling_n and_o four_o penny_n for_o every_o offence_n or_o neglect_n respective_o and_o that_o no_o person_n or_o person_n whatsoever_o shall_v throw_v cast_v or_o lay_v or_o cause_n permit_v or_o suffer_v to_o be_v throw_v cast_v or_o lay_v any_o sea-coal-ash_n dust_n dirt_n or_o other_o filth_n or_o annoyance_n raker_n scavenger_n or_o other_o officer_n thereto_o appoint_v of_o the_o ward_n parish_n street_n or_o place_n where_o they_o dwell_v do_v come_v by_o or_o near_o their_o house_n or_o door_n with_o his_o cart_n barrow_n or_o other_o thing_n or_o thing_n use_v for_o cleanse_v the_o street_n and_o carry_v away_o thereof_o and_o then_o shall_v carry_v or_o cause_n to_o be_v carry_v the_o say_v ash_n dust_n or_o other_o filth_n and_o annoyance_n aforesaid_a forth_o of_o their_o house_n and_o deliver_v it_o unto_o the_o say_v raker_n scavenger_n or_o officer_n or_o otherwise_o put_v the_o same_o in_o his_o cart_n barrow_n or_o other_o thing_n as_o aforesaid_a upon_o pain_n to_o forfeit_v the_o sum_n of_o twenty_o shilling_n for_o every_o such_o offence_n and_o be_v it_o further_o enact_v that_o the_o respective_a churchwarden_n nobleman_n white-hall_n churchyard_n and_o house_n of_o nobleman_n the_o housekeepers_a of_o white-hall_n and_o other_o his_o majesty_n house_n housekeepers_a or_o porter_n of_o nobleman_n house_n usher_n porter_n or_o keeper_n of_o court_n of_o justice_n and_o all_o other_o public_a house_n and_o place_n respective_o shall_v be_v liable_a to_o and_o shall_v suffer_v the_o like_a penalty_n forfeiture_n and_o punishment_n for_o every_o the_o beforementioned_a offence_n or_o neglect_v commit_v do_v or_o suffer_v to_o be_v do_v before_o wall_n or_o before_o any_o nobleman_n house_n building_n or_o wall_n or_o before_o any_o other_o public_a house_n building_n or_o place_n whatsoever_o respective_o and_o be_v it_o further_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a that_o from_o and_o after_o the_o first_o day_n of_o may_n weekly_o no_o barrel_n timber_n coach_n or_o other_o thing_n to_o be_v see_v or_o mend_v in_o the_o street_n the_o penalty_n the_o duty_n of_o the_o scavenger_n &_o raker_n weekly_o one_o thousand_o six_o hundred_o sixty_o and_o two_o no_o person_n or_o person_n shall_v hoop_n wash_n or_o cleanse_v any_o pipe_n barrel_n or_o other_o cask_n or_o vessel_n in_o any_o the_o street_n lane_n or_o open_a passage_n aforesaid_a nor_o shall_v set_v out_o empty_a coach_n to_o make_v or_o mend_v or_o rough_a timber_n or_o stone_n to_o be_v saw_v or_o wrought_v in_o the_o street_n on_o the_o penalty_n of_o twenty_o shilling_n for_o every_o offence_n and_o be_v it_o further_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a that_o the_o raker_n scavenger_n or_o other_o officer_n thereunto_o appoint_v every_o day_n in_o the_o wéek_v except_a sunday_n and_o other_o holiday_n shall_v bring_v or_o cause_n to_o be_v bring_v cart_n dung-pot_n or_o other_o fit_a carriage_n into_o all_o street_n and_o place_n within_o their_o respective_a ward_n parish_n charge_n and_o division_n where_o such_o cart_n or_o carriage_n can_v pass_v and_o at_o or_o before_o their_o approach_n by_o a_o bell_n horn_n clapper_n or_o otherwise_o shall_v make_v distinct_a and_o loud_a noise_n and_o give_v notice_n to_o the_o inhabitant_n of_o their_o come_n and_o make_v the_o like_a noise_n and_o give_v the_o like_a notice_n in_o every_o court_n alley_n or_o place_n into_o which_o the_o say_a cart_n can_v pass_v and_o abide_v and_o stay_v there_o a_o convenient_a time_n in_o such_o sort_n that_o all_o person_n concern_v may_v bring_v forth_o their_o respective_a ash_n dust_n dirt_n filth_n and_o soil_v to_o the_o respective_a cart_n or_o carriage_n so_o stay_v as_o aforesaid_a all_o which_o the_o say_a raker_n scavenger_n or_o other_o officer_n aforesaid_a shall_v daily_o carry_v or_o cause_n to_o be_v carry_v away_o upon_o pain_n to_o forfeit_v forty_o shilling_n for_o every_o offence_n or_o neglect_n respective_o and_o be_v it_o further_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a that_o all_o the_o open_a street_n householder_n all_o open_a street_n to_o be_v pave_v and_o so_o keep_v by_o the_o several_a householder_n lane_n and_o alley_n within_o the_o say_a city_n and_o place_n aforesaid_a except_v only_o the_o new_a pave_v of_o such_o street_n and_o place_n for_o which_o any_o of_o the_o inhabitant_n have_v contribute_v and_o pay_v their_o respective_a proportion_n to_o the_o commissioner_n before_o name_v according_a to_o the_o rate_v aforesaid_a shall_v be_v forthwith_o sufficient_o repair_v or_o pave_v and_o from_o time_n to_o time_n hereafter_o maintain_v and_o keep_v sufficient_o repair_v or_o pave_v at_o the_o cost_n and_o charge_n of_o the_o householder_n in_o the_o same_o street_n lane_n and_o alley_n respective_o in_o manner_n follow_v that_o be_v to_o say_v every_o of_o the_o say_a householder_n to_o repair_v and_o pave_v and_o to_o keep_v repair_v and_o pave_v the_o street_n lane_n or_o alley_n before_o his_o house_n and_o so_o far_o as_o his_o house_n wall_n or_o building_n extend_v unto_o the_o channel_n or_o middle_a of_o the_o same_o street_n lane_n or_o alley_n upon_o pain_n to_o forfeit_v twenty_o shilling_n for_o every_o perch_n or_o rod_n and_o after_o that_o rate_n for_o a_o great_a or_o lesser_a quantity_n for_o every_o default_n pave_v the_o penalty_n for_o not_o pave_v and_o of_o twenty_o shilling_n a_o wéek_v for_o every_o wéek_v after_o until_o the_o same_o shall_v be_v sufficient_o pave_v and_o amend_v provide_v always_o that_o such_o ancient_a street_n lane_n and_o alley_n within_o the_o say_a city_n southwark_n proviso_n for_o the_o borough_n of_o southwark_n or_o either_o of_o they_o the_o suburb_n and_o liberty_n thereof_o and_o borough_n of_o southwark_n as_o by_o custom_n and_o usage_n have_v be_v repair_v and_o pave_v in_o other_o manner_n shall_v be_v hereafter_o repair_v pave_v and_o maintain_v in_o such_o sort_n and_o manner_n and_o by_o such_o person_n and_o person_n as_o have_v heretofore_o use_v to_o repair_v pave_v and_o maintain_v the_o same_o under_o the_o penalty_n aforesaid_a any_o thing_n in_o this_o act_n contain_v to_o the_o contrary_a thereof_o in_o any_o wise_n notwithstanding_o and_o be_v it_o further_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a lady-day_n candle_n or_o light_n to_o be_v hang_v out_o every_o night_n from_o michaelmas_n to_o lady-day_n that_o every_o householder_n within_o the_o say_a city_n the_o suburb_n and_o liberty_n thereof_o and_o in_o all_o other_o the_o place_n aforesaid_a who_o house_n adjoin_v unto_o and_o be_v next_o the_o street_n from_o michaelmas_n until_o our_o lady-day_n yearly_a shall_v every_o night_n set_v or_o hang_v out_o candle_n or_o light_n in_o lantern_n or_o otherwise_o in_o some_o part_n of_o his_o house_n next_o the_o street_n to_o enlighten_v the_o same_o for_o passenger_n from_o such_o time_n as_o it_o shall_v grow_v dark_a until_o nine_o of_o the_o clock_n in_o the_o evening_n upon_o pain_n to_o forfeit_v the_o sum_n of_o one_o shilling_n for_o every_o default_n act._n who_o may_v convict_v person_n offend_v and_o upon_o view_n or_o otherwise_o levy_v the_o penalty_n by_o this_o act._n and_o for_o the_o more_o speedy_a reformation_n and_o punishment_n of_o all_o and_o every_o the_o offence_n aforesaid_a be_v it_o further_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a that_o every_o one_o of_o his_o majesty_n justice_n of_o either_o bench_n and_o baron_n of_o his_o exchequer_n and_o every_o justice_n of_o peace_n of_o the_o say_a city_n of_o london_n and_o westminster_n and_o place_n aforesaid_a within_o their_o several_a limit_n respective_o shall_v have_v power_n and_o authority_n upon_o his_o own_o knowledge_n or_o view_v confession_n of_o the_o party_n or_o proof_n of_o one_o credible_a witness_n upon_o oath_n before_o he_o which_o oath_n by_o virtue_n of_o this_o act_n such_o justice_n shall_v have_v power_n to_o administer_v to_o convict_v any_o person_n or_o person_n of_o any_o the_o offence_n aforesaid_a whereby_o such_o person_n or_o person_n so_o convict_v shall_v incur_v the_o penalty_n and_o forfeiture_n aforesaid_a one_o moiety_n whereof_o shall_v be_v dispose_v and_o employ_v for_o and_o towards_o the_o reparation_n pave_v and_o cleanse_v of_o the_o street_n or_o place_n where_o the_o offence_n shall_v be_v commit_v and_o as_o much_o or_o all_o of_o the_o other_o moiety_n as_o the_o justice_n shall_v think_v fit_a for_o he_o or_o they_o that_o shall_v discover_v and_o prosecute_v the_o same_o in_o case_n the_o say_a conviction_n be_v by_o such_o discovery_n and_o prosecution_n and_o if_o the_o conviction_n be_v by_o the_o view_n or_o knowledge_n of_o such_o justice_n than_o the_o say_v whole_a penalty_n to_o go_v and_o be_v employ_v for_o and_o towards_o the_o repair_n pave_v and_o cleanse_v of_o the_o say_a street_n or_o place_n and_o shall_v be_v levy_v by_o distress_n and_o sale_n of_o the_o good_n and_o chattel_n of_o the_o offender_n by_o warrant_n under_o the_o hand_n and_o seal_v of_o any_o such_o justice_n to_o be_v direct_v to_o the_o constable_n or_o any_o other_o officer_n of_o the_o same_o parish_n render_v the_o surplusage_n to_o the_o party_n and_o in_o default_n of_o distress_n or_o not_o payment_n of_o the_o say_a penalty_n within_o six_o day_n after_o demand_v thereof_o or_o notice_n in_o writing_n leave_v at_o the_o house_n or_o dwell_v place_n of_o the_o offender_n by_o the_o say_a constable_n or_o any_o other_o officer_n the_o say_a offender_n not_o be_v a_o péer_n of_o this_o scavenger_n raker_n or_o other_o officer_n employ_v in_o cleanse_v of_o the_o street_n lane_n alley_n and_o other_o place_n aforesaid_a and_o carry_v of_o the_o say_a ash_n dirt_n filth_n and_o soil_n be_v it_o further_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a other_o rate_n and_o tax_n to_o be_v make_v for_o defray_v the_o charge_n and_o wage_n of_o scavenger_n and_o other_o that_o within_o the_o city_n of_o london_n and_o liberties_n thereof_o the_o scavenger_n raker_n and_o such_o like_a officer_n shall_v be_v elect_v and_o the_o rate_n tax_n and_o assessment_n for_o scavenger_n raker_n and_o such_o like_a officer_n wage_n for_o cleanse_v the_o
and_o court_n of_o alderman_n be_v hereby_o authorize_v by_o virtue_n of_o this_o act_n to_o issue_v out_o a_o warrant_n or_o warrant_n to_o the_o sheriff_n of_o london_n who_o be_v hereby_o require_v according_o to_o impannel_n and_o return_v a_o jury_n before_o the_o say_a lord_n mayor_n and_o court_n of_o alderman_n which_o jury_n upon_o their_o oath_n to_o be_v administer_v by_o the_o say_a lord_n mayor_n and_o court_n of_o alderman_n are_z to_z inquire_v and_o assess_v such_o damage_n and_o recompense_n as_o they_o shall_v judge_v fit_a to_o be_v award_v to_o the_o owner_n and_o other_o interest_v according_a to_o their_o several_a and_o respective_a interest_n and_o estate_n of_o and_o in_o any_o such_o house_n or_o ground_n or_o any_o part_n thereof_o for_o their_o respective_a or_o sum_n of_o money_n so_o award_v or_o adjudge_v to_o the_o owner_n and_o other_o have_v estate_n or_o interest_n or_o tender_a and_o refusal_n thereof_o shall_v be_v bind_v to_o all_o intent_n and_o purpose_n against_o the_o say_a party_n their_o heir_n executor_n administrator_n and_o assign_v and_o other_o claim_v any_o title_n or_o interest_n in_o the_o say_a house_n or_o ground_n and_o shall_v be_v a_o full_a authority_n for_o the_o say_a lord_n mayor_n aldermen_z and_o commons_o to_o cause_v the_o same_o to_o be_v convert_v and_o use_v for_o the_o purpose_n aforesaid_a value_n authority_n aforesaid_a that_o in_o case_n of_o refusal_n or_o incapacity_n as_o aforesaid_a of_o the_o owner_n or_o other_o interest_v of_o or_o in_o the_o say_a house_n to_o agree_v and_o compound_v with_o the_o say_a lord_n mayor_n aldermen_z and_o commons_o for_o the_o same_o thereupon_o a_o jury_n shall_v and_o may_v be_v empanel_v in_o manner_n and_o form_n aforesaid_a to_o judge_n and_o assess_v upon_o the_o owner_n and_o other_o interest_v of_o and_o in_o such_o house_n such_o competent_a sum_n and_o sum_n of_o money_n with_o respect_n to_o their_o several_a interest_n in_o consideration_n of_o such_o improvement_n and_o melioration_n as_o in_o reason_n and_o good_a conscience_n they_o shall_v think_v fit_a and_o all_o sum_n of_o money_n that_o shall_v be_v so_o assess_v and_o raise_v as_o aforesaid_a shall_v be_v pay_v to_o the_o chamberlain_n of_o the_o city_n of_o london_n for_o the_o time_n be_v who_o be_v hereby_o enable_v from_o time_n to_o time_n to_o receive_v and_o recover_v the_o same_o by_o action_n at_o law_n and_o who_o receipt_n shall_v be_v a_o good_a discharge_v to_o such_o owner_n or_o other_o interest_v and_o who_o be_v hereby_o appoint_v to_o receive_v and_o pay_v and_o be_v accountable_a for_o the_o same_o according_a to_o such_o direction_n as_o shall_v from_o time_n to_o time_n be_v give_v he_o by_o the_o say_a lord_n mayor_n aldermen_z and_o commons_o and_o the_o money_n so_o raise_v shall_v be_v whole_o employ_v towards_o payment_n and_o satisfaction_n of_o such_o house_n and_o ground_n as_o shall_v be_v convert_v into_o street_n passage_n market_n and_o other_o public_a place_n aforesaid_a and_o such_o satisfaction_n so_o give_v or_o tender_v and_o refuse_v as_o aforesaid_a shall_v divest_v the_o propriety_n estate_n and_o interest_n of_o the_o respective_a owner_n and_o other_o have_v interest_n of_o and_o in_o such_o parcel_n of_o ground_n so_o to_o be_v take_v and_o employ_v for_o the_o use_v aforesaid_a by_o virtue_n of_o this_o act_n which_o shall_v be_v and_o be_v hereby_o actual_o settle_a and_o invest_v in_o the_o say_a lord_n mayor_n commonalty_n and_o citizen_n of_o the_o city_n of_o london_n and_o their_o successor_n in_o like_a manner_n as_o other_o the_o common-stréet_n and_o highway_n within_o the_o say_a city_n estate_n who_o may_v hear_v and_o determine_v difference_n of_o several_a claim_n of_o estate_n and_o in_o case_n any_o controversy_n or_o difference_n shall_v happen_v to_o arise_v between_o several_a person_n that_o shall_v claim_v several_a estate_n or_o interest_n into_o or_o out_o of_o any_o ground_n to_o be_v sell_v by_o the_o say_a mayor_n aldermen_z and_o common_a council_n or_o by_o they_o to_o be_v take_v and_o dispose_v of_o by_o virtue_n and_o in_o for_o the_o further_o enable_v of_o the_o say_a mayor_n and_o commonalty_n and_o citizen_n of_o the_o say_a city_n of_o london_n and_o their_o successor_n to_o perform_v and_o accomplish_v the_o four_o and_o twenty_o day_n of_o june_n one_o thousand_o six_o hundred_o sixty_o seven_o and_o before_o the_o four_o and_o twenty_o day_n of_o june_n one_o thousand_o six_o hundred_o seventy_o seven_o shall_v be_v import_v and_o bring_v into_o the_o port_n of_o the_o city_n of_o london_n or_o the_o river_n of_o thames_n within_o the_o liberty_n of_o the_o say_a city_n of_o london_n upon_o the_o same_o river_n to_o be_v sell_v by_o the_o cauldron_n or_o tun_n there_o shall_v be_v pay_v by_o way_n of_o imposition_n thereupon_o over_z and_z beside_o all_o other_o imposition_n and_o duty_n due_a and_o payable_a for_o any_o sort_n of_o the_o say_a coal_n by_o virtue_n of_o any_o law_n or_o statute_n now_o in_o force_n according_a to_o the_o rate_n hereafter_o mention_v that_o be_v to_o say_v penny_n and_o for_o all_o such_o sort_n of_o coal_n as_o be_v sell_v by_o the_o tun_n for_o every_o tun_n thereof_o contain_v twenty_o hundred_o weight_n the_o like_a sum_n of_o twelve_o penny_n which_o say_v imposition_n of_o twelve_o penny_n for_o every_o cauldron_n or_o tun_n of_o coal_n shall_v from_o time_n to_o time_n during_o the_o term_n aforesaid_a be_v answer_v and_o pay_v unto_o the_o say_a mayor_n and_o commonalty_n and_o citizen_n and_o their_o successor_n or_o to_o their_o deputy_n or_o deputy_n officer_n or_o assign_v by_o the_o master_n owner_n or_o owner_n or_o other_o person_n or_o person_n take_v charge_n of_o any_o ship_n or_o vessel_n whereupon_o the_o same_o shall_v be_v lade_v before_o they_o shall_v break_v bulk_n or_o have_v a_o meet_a assign_v for_o the_o measure_n or_o weigh_v of_o any_o coal_n aforesaid_a to_o be_v deliver_v from_o on_o board_n any_o such_o ship_n or_o vessel_n the_o same_o to_o be_v pay_v at_o such_o place_n or_o place_n as_o by_o the_o say_a mayor_n and_o court_n of_o alderman_n shall_v from_o time_n to_o time_n be_v appoint_v for_o the_o receipt_n thereof_o upon_o receipt_n whereof_o the_o party_n appoint_v to_o receive_v the_o same_o shall_v without_o delay_n fee_n or_o reward_n deliver_v a_o receipt_n to_o the_o person_n or_o person_n who_o shall_v pay_v the_o say_a duty_n which_o receipt_n shall_v for_o so_o much_o be_v a_o sufficient_a discharge_n and_o to_o the_o end_n that_o the_o say_a imposition_n may_v be_v due_o answer_v and_o pay_v without_o fraud_n or_o covin_z and_o for_o the_o better_a levy_v and_o collect_v thereof_o and_o for_o discovery_n of_o the_o just_a quantity_n of_o all_o sort_n of_o coal_n to_o be_v import_v as_o aforesaid_a be_v it_o further_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a that_o the_o coal-meter_n for_o the_o city_n of_o london_n appoint_v or_o to_o be_v appoint_v and_o every_o of_o they_o same_o coal-meter_n duty_n for_o levy_v the_o same_o and_o their_o respective_a deputy_n in_o their_o turn_n &_o course_n of_o attendance_n respective_o so_o soon_o as_o any_o ship_n or_o vessel_n freight_v with_o coal_n shall_v be_v unlade_v shall_v forthwith_o deliver_v a_o true_a certificate_n in_o writing_n unto_o the_o deputy_n or_o deputy_n officer_n or_o assign_v of_o the_o say_a mayor_n and_o commonalty_n and_o citizen_n who_o shall_v be_v appoint_v to_o receive_v the_o say_a imposition_n of_o the_o sort_n quantity_n and_o number_n of_o cauldron_n or_o tun_n of_o coal_n respective_o which_o shall_v be_v measure_v or_o weigh_v and_o deliver_v from_o on_o board_n any_o such_o ship_n or_o vessel_n on_o pain_n for_o he_o or_o their_o default_n therein_o to_o be_v suspend_v from_o the_o execution_n and_o benefit_n of_o he_o or_o their_o office_n or_o employment_n for_o one_o whole_a year_n from_o thence_o next_o follow_v and_o in_o case_n it_o shall_v appear_v by_o such_o certificate_n or_o otherwise_o that_o there_o be_v on_o board_n any_o such_o ship_n or_o vessel_n a_o great_a number_n of_o cauldron_n or_o tun_n of_o coal_n then_o for_o which_o the_o say_a imposition_n shall_v have_v be_v answer_v and_o pay_v as_o aforesaid_a that_o then_o in_o such_o case_n there_o shall_v be_v pay_v to_o the_o say_a mayor_n and_o commonalty_n and_o citizen_n and_o their_o successor_n for_o every_o cauldron_n or_o tun_n of_o coal_n so_o conceal_v over_o and_o above_o the_o imposition_n aforesaid_a the_o sum_n of_o five_o shilling_n for_o which_o in_o case_n of_o refusal_n to_o pay_v the_o same_o such_o ship_n or_o vessel_n or_o any_o the_o tackle_n furniture_n or_o apparel_n thereof_o may_v be_v attach_v and_o detain_v by_o warrant_n from_o the_o mayor_n of_o the_o say_a city_n for_o the_o time_n be_v until_o payment_n thereof_o provide_v nevertheless_o that_o if_o the_o importer_n upon_o such_o certificate_n deliver_v in_o by_o the_o coal-meter_n shall_v within_o four_o and_o
