the_o doctrine_n and_o practice_n of_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n which_o he_o perform_v with_o such_o full_a and_o plain_a evidence_n that_o the_o misrepresenter_n have_v not_o so_o much_o as_o attempt_v to_o charge_v he_o with_o any_o one_o false_a citation_n nor_o to_o show_v in_o any_o one_o particular_a that_o he_o have_v misrepresent_v their_o doctrine_n and_o practice_n but_o instead_o of_o this_o in_o his_o reflection_n on_o the_o answer_n if_o the_o reflecter_n and_o misrepresenter_n be_v the_o same_o person_n as_o he_o own_v himself_o to_o be_v he_o make_v fresh_a complaint_n of_o protestant_n misrepresent_v papist_n which_o if_o it_o have_v be_v true_a be_v no_o confutation_n of_o that_o representation_n which_o the_o answerer_n have_v make_v of_o popery_n the_o question_n than_o be_v whether_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n believe_v and_o practice_n as_o the_o answerer_n say_v she_o do_v and_o prove_v by_o unquestionable_a authority_n that_o she_o do_v but_o this_o be_v too_o plain_o prove_v to_o be_v a_o question_n any_o long_o and_o therefore_o he_o rather_o choose_v to_o debate_v that_o general_a question_n about_o the_o rule_n of_o represent_v and_o how_o we_o must_v know_v what_o be_v the_o faith_n of_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n and_o whether_o the_o bishop_n of_o condom_n exposition_n have_v not_o a_o sufficient_a authority_n give_v to_o it_o by_o the_o pope_n and_o cardinal_n and_o bishop_n of_o france_n and_o what_o the_o authority_n of_o private_a doctor_n be_v and_o the_o like_a but_o have_v not_o in_o any_o one_o particular_a show_v wherein_o the_o answerer_n have_v misrepresent_v they_o that_o the_o authority_n he_o allege_v be_v not_o good_a that_o he_o have_v put_v any_o force_v and_o unnatural_a sense_n upon_o the_o word_n of_o their_o council_n or_o catechism_n or_o doctor_n or_o that_o their_o church_n have_v by_o any_o public_a act_n contradict_v what_o he_o charge_v to_o be_v her_o doctrine_n or_o practice_n this_o he_o have_v not_o do_v and_o therefore_o we_o have_v reason_n to_o believe_v this_o he_o can_v not_o do_v and_o this_o be_v reason_n enough_o to_o conclude_v that_o the_o answer_n contain_v a_o true_a representation_n of_o the_o doctrine_n and_o practice_n of_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n i_o do_v not_o think_v such_o reflection_n as_o these_o worth_n the_o notice_n of_o the_o learned_a answerer_n and_o therefore_o undertake_v to_o reply_v to_o they_o myself_o and_o particular_o examine_v every_o thing_n he_o have_v say_v in_o return_n to_o this_o he_o publish_v another_o answer_n which_o he_o call_v papist_n protest_v against_o protestant_a popery_n and_o i_o think_v it_o will_v come_v to_o bare_a protest_v at_o last_o for_o his_o reason_n and_o argument_n run_v very_o low_o before_o this_o i_o have_v now_o consider_v and_o i_o think_v have_v not_o suffer_v any_o thing_n to_o escape_v without_o a_o answer_n but_o that_o the_o reader_n may_v the_o better_o understand_v what_o a_o formidable_a adversary_n this_o be_v i_o shall_v brief_o compare_v the_o reply_n with_o his_o answer_n and_o then_o leave_v he_o to_o judge_n of_o the_o ingenuity_n and_o honesty_n of_o the_o protester_n in_o answer_n to_o his_o fresh_a complaint_n of_o misrepresent_v in_o my_o reply_n i_o consider_v what_o it_o be_v to_o misrepresent_v viz._n to_o charge_v they_o with_o such_o doctrine_n and_o practice_n as_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n dâ—sowns_n and_o prove_v from_o his_o own_o character_n of_o a_o papist_n misrepresent_v that_o we_o be_v no_o misrepresenter_n for_o what_o he_o make_v we_o charge_v they_o with_o believe_v and_o do_v in_o the_o character_n of_o a_o papist_n misrepresent_v that_o he_o own_v and_o defend_v in_o the_o character_n of_o a_o papist_n represent_v and_o the_o only_a difference_n in_o most_o case_n between_o these_o two_o character_n be_v this_o that_o in_o the_o character_n of_o a_o papist_n misrepresent_v he_o put_v in_o all_o the_o ill_a thing_n which_o protestant_n say_v of_o their_o faith_n and_o worship_n and_o in_o the_o character_n of_o a_o papist_n represent_v he_o say_v all_o the_o good_a thing_n he_o can_v of_o it_o but_o this_o i_o tell_v he_o do_v not_o belong_v to_o representation_n but_o dispute_v and_o therefore_o whatever_o guilt_n we_o charge_v their_o doctrine_n and_o practice_n with_o this_o be_v not_o to_o misrepresent_v while_o we_o charge_v they_o with_o nothing_o but_o what_o be_v their_o faith_n and_o practice_n to_o represent_v in_o this_o sense_n be_v only_o to_o report_v matter_n of_o fact_n and_o he_o who_o report_v true_o can_v misrepresent_v if_o we_o charge_v they_o with_o any_o guilt_n which_o they_o think_v they_o be_v not_o chargeable_a with_o this_o become_v matter_n of_o dispute_n and_o it_o be_v not_o enough_o to_o confute_v such_o a_o charge_n to_o tell_v the_o world_n that_o they_o do_v not_o believe_v so_o ill_o of_o their_o own_o doctrine_n and_o practice_n as_o we_o protestant_n do_v by_o this_o rule_n i_o examine_v the_o thirty_o seven_o particular_n of_o his_o character_n and_o careful_o distinguish_v between_o matter_n of_o representation_n and_o dispute_n and_o all_o this_o he_o grant_v and_o yet_o in_o his_o answer_n fall_v a_o protest_v against_o protestant_a popery_n as_o if_o we_o have_v make_v a_o new_a religion_n for_o they_o whereas_o we_o only_o tell_v they_o what_o the_o fault_n of_o their_o religion_n be_v and_o this_o he_o call_v protestant_a popery_n that_o be_v the_o judgement_n of_o protestant_n concern_v popery_n and_o this_o he_o protest_v against_o which_o be_v a_o much_o easy_a way_n than_o to_o confute_v it_o and_o now_o instead_o of_o defend_v his_o own_o character_n wherein_o he_o have_v charge_v we_o with_o misrepresent_v papist_n and_o which_o i_o have_v prove_v and_o he_o in_o effect_n grant_v to_o be_v no_o misrepresentation_n he_o seek_v about_o to_o find_v out_o some_o new_a protestant_a misrepresenter_n and_o fill_v up_o several_a page_n with_o citation_n out_o of_o the_o manual_a of_o john_n archbishop_n of_o york_n mr._n sutcliff_n and_o other_o now_o in_o the_o first_o place_n he_o ought_v to_o have_v show_v that_o the_o distinction_n between_o matter_n of_o representation_n and_o dispute_n by_o which_o i_o answer_v his_o own_o character_n will_v not_o justify_v these_o misrepresenter_n also_o as_o most_o certain_o it_o will_v and_o a_o hundred_o more_o if_o he_o can_v find_v they_o but_o he_o say_v not_o one_o word_n of_o this_o but_o only_o cite_v their_o word_n and_o call_v it_o misrepresent_v but_o beside_o this_o he_o have_v use_v very_o foul_a play_n to_o make_v misrepresenter_n of_o they_o the_o archbishop_n only_o transcribe_v out_o of_o popish_a author_n and_o cite_v his_o authority_n the_o protester_n set_v all_o down_o as_o the_o archbishop_n word_n without_o let_v his_o reader_n know_v that_o papist_n teach_v these_o thing_n and_o that_o the_o archbishop_n only_o repeat_v they_o after_o they_o but_o beside_o conceal_v the_o popish_a authority_n
