discipline_n decay_v in_o the_o church_n after_o the_o golden_a and_o most_o glorious_a age_n of_o the_o apostle_n the_o more_o do_v the_o church_n grow_v unto_o and_o swell_v in_o outward_a riches_n pomp_n and_o glory_n experience_n also_o teach_v that_o the_o more_o glorious_a prelate_n be_v in_o their_o outward_a state_n the_o less_o benefit_n the_o rest_n of_o the_o church_n have_v by_o they_o because_o they_o take_v the_o less_o pain_n at_o the_o least_o such_o pain_n as_o be_v most_o agreeable_a to_o the_o true_a episcopal_a and_o ministerial_a call_n describe_v in_o holy_a scripture_n wherein_o then_o be_v the_o true_a glory_n of_o the_o church_n 1_o in_o such_o minister_n of_o the_o word_n and_o other_o officer_n as_o christ_n have_v commend_v 2_o in_o the_o performance_n of_o such_o duty_n by_o they_o as_o he_o require_v that_o be_v in_o preach_v the_o word_n faithful_o in_o administer_a the_o sacrament_n sincere_o in_o pray_v zealous_o and_o apt_o according_a to_o the_o necessity_n of_o the_o church_n and_o in_o execute_v discipline_n wise_o and_o just_o 3_o in_o the_o effect_n of_o the_o former_a two_o viz_n in_o true_a knowledge_n faith_n love_n zeal_n humility_n patience_n temperance_n righteousness_n peace_n etc_o touch_v these_o thing_n the_o more_o we_o want_v some_o of_o those_o officer_n that_o christ_n have_v commend_v by_o his_o apostle_n to_o the_o church_n and_o the_o more_o negligent_a those_o that_o we_o have_v be_v in_o their_o duty_n the_o more_o lamentable_a it_o be_v to_o see_v the_o carve_a pillar_n of_o the_o temple_n break_v down_o and_o the_o faithful_a workman_n in_o god_n house_n to_o be_v cast_v out_o by_o who_o labour_n it_o have_v be_v before_o build_v &_o bring_v to_o some_o good_a beauty_n touch_v the_o last_o what_o christian_n heart_n be_v so_o stony_a that_o it_o do_v not_o mourn_v what_o eye_n so_o dry_a that_o it_o do_v not_o shed_v tear_n yea_o rather_o gush_v out_o with_o tear_n to_o consider_v and_o behold_v the_o mesery_v of_o our_o suppose_a glorious_a church_n by_o the_o spiritual_a nakedness_n blindness_n &_o poverty_n thereof_o i_o mean_v the_o great_a ignorance_n the_o superficial_a worship_n of_o god_n the_o fearful_a blasphemy_n and_o swaringe_n in_o house_n and_o street_n so_o also_o the_o direful_a curse_n the_o open_a contempt_n of_o the_o word_n &_o sacrament_n the_o wicked_a profanation_n of_o the_o lord_n day_n the_o dishonour_n of_o superior_n the_o pride_n the_o cruelty_n the_o fornication_n adultrye_n and_o other_o uncleanness_n the_o drunkenness_n the_o covetousness_n the_o usurye_n and_o other_o the_o like_a abomination_n almost_o as_o grevous_a as_o either_o heretofore_o in_o the_o time_n or_o now_o in_o the_o place_n of_o popery_n when_o and_o where_o there_o be_v no_o preach_n at_o all_o of_o the_o gospel_n o_o m._n powel_n and_o you_o my_o reverend_a father_n and_o brethren_n in_o the_o ministry_n even_o of_o the_o conformable_a sort_n flatter_v not_o yourselves_o in_o this_o behalf_n but_o behold_v and_o pity_v the_o woeful_a and_o lamentable_a stat_fw-la of_o our_o church_n in_o these_o thing_n but_o to_o return_v herein_o you_o err_v not_o a_o little_a in_o that_o you_o confound_v the_o state_n of_o the_o church_n and_o of_o the_o common_a wealth_n of_o the_o jew_n the_o common_a wealth_n be_v indeed_o at_o that_o time_n that_o god_n have_v prescribe_v be_v the_o priest_n and_o levit_n either_o so_o ignorant_a or_o so_o idle_a or_o so_o scandalous_a as_o many_o call_v minister_n among_o we_o be_v the_o faithful_a and_o painful_a priest_n and_o levite_n so_o urge_v to_o the_o observation_n of_o man_n tradition_n and_o ceremony_n in_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n and_o otherwise_o so_o molest_v as_o now_o many_o godly_a minister_n be_v be_v the_o people_n so_o blind_a so_o irreligious_a so_o unrighteous_a as_o now_o they_o be_v be_v the_o godly_a force_v to_o hear_v dumb_a dog_n or_o corrupt_a teacher_n or_o restrain_v from_o hear_v of_o those_o that_o preach_v wholesome_a doctrine_n or_o urge_v to_o communicate_v with_o the_o preiste_n in_o human_a ceremony_n to_o the_o grief_n of_o their_o soul_n and_o wound_v of_o their_o conscience_n as_o many_o now_o be_v the_o lord_n give_v you_o all_o such_o consideration_n of_o these_o thing_n that_o you_o may_v not_o so_o much_o labour_n for_o outward_a pomp_n preferment_n honour_n dignity_n etc_o as_o for_o the_o true_a felicity_n of_o our_o english_a jerusalem_n and_o zion_n that_o god_n may_v build_v up_o the_o wall_n thereof_o and_o still_o love_n and_o delight_v therein_o powel_n g._n powel_n as_o nehemiah_n have_v by_o prayer_n and_o fast_v find_v favour_n with_o a_o heathen_a king_n for_o the_o build_n of_o jerusalem_n be_v resist_v deceive_v himself_o herein_o for_o the_o wise_a &_o christian_a reader_n be_v able_a to_o discern_v they_o to_o be_v most_o worthy_a of_o these_o nane_n that_o strive_v most_o for_o man_n precept_n that_o study_v more_o to_o please_v man_n then_o god_n that_o preach_v not_o themselves_o and_o hinder_v they_o that_o will_v who_o chief_a work_n be_v not_o to_o increase_v god_n his_o kingdom_n but_o to_o uphold_v their_o own_o fear_v nothing_o more_o than_o the_o downfall_n thereof_o which_o also_o feed_v not_o the_o lord_n people_n with_o the_o bread_n of_o eternal_a life_n but_o their_o own_o body_n with_o the_o meat_n that_o perish_v and_o with_o all_o carnal_a delight_n who_o care_v not_o to_o enrich_v the_o lord_n people_n with_o durable_a riches_n that_o shall_v not_o be_v take_v away_o but_o plod_v day_n and_o night_n to_o enrich_v themselves_o in_o this_o world_n and_o to_o build_v great_a house_n for_o their_o posterity_n such_o be_v indeed_o the_o sanballat_n tobiah'ss_n and_o geshem_n that_o do_v most_o oppugn_v the_o spiritual_a build_n of_o the_o spiritual_a jerusalem_n now_o although_o this_o answerer_n &_o other_o not_o much_o unlike_o those_o before_o describe_v
