necessity_n and_o therefore_o we_o protest_v from_o your_o synod_n and_o avow_v that_o your_o synod_n in_o this_o case_n be_v not_o guide_v by_o the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n and_o that_o thereupon_o it_o follow_v your_o decree_n so_o many_o of_o they_o as_o abate_v the_o edge_n of_o charity_n whet_v upon_o the_o brethren_n by_o the_o apostle_n rule_v or_o bring_v into_o bondage_n again_o servant_n 28._o manumiss_a by_o the_o authority_n of_o christ_n that_o the_o same_o your_o decree_n be_v both_o erroneous_a in_o themselves_o and_o injurious_a to_o the_o church_n of_o god_n for_o synodall_n a_o provincial_n or_o a_o canturbury-church_n faith_n we_o must_v needs_o speak_v both_o what_o we_o have_v see_v what_o we_o have_v hear_v and_o what_o we_o have_v understand_v out_o of_o holy_a scripture_n namely_o that_o some_o of_o your_o synodall_n decree_n be_v opposite_a &_o repugnant_a to_o the_o apostle_n both_o christian_n charity_n and_o christian_n liberty_n for_o if_o it_o be_v sin_n for_o one_o brother_n to_o do_v any_o act_n by_o do_v whereof_o a_o other_o brother_n conscience_n be_v wound_v and_o make_v weak_a if_o also_o whosoever_o shall_v wound_v the_o weak_a conscience_n of_o a_o brother_n and_o sin_n against_o a_o brother_n do_v sin_n against_o christ_n then_o of_o necessity_n be_v your_o canon_n of_o popish_a rite_n &_o ceremony_n both_o uncharitable_a canon_n against_o your_o brethren_n &_o sinful_a canon_n against_o christ_n for_o though_o it_o be_v free_a for_o christian_n to_o use_v cope_n surplice_n square_a cappes_n cross_n etc._n etc._n civil_o upon_o their_o back_n head_n or_o forehead_n yet_o if_o some_o remain_v ignorant_a of_o this_o liberty_n and_o think_v they_o to_o be_v unclean_a as_o have_v be_v thing_n offer_v to_o the_o service_n of_o a_o idol_n shall_v by_o the_o example_n of_o other_o with_o waver_a conscience_n enterprise_n to_o use_v they_o when_o inward_o they_o think_v the_o use_n of_o they_o to_o displease_v god_n if_o in_o this_o case_n we_o say_v man_n shall_v sin_v against_o christ_n how_o much_o more_o shall_v they_o sin_v against_o christ_n when_o they_o shall_v use_v they_o in_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n against_o which_o use_n they_o have_v many_o testimony_n out_o of_o holy_a writ_n seat_v in_o their_o conscience_n by_o the_o finger_n of_o god_n that_o their_o use_n be_v altogether_o unlawful_a in_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n on_o the_o other_o side_n if_o it_o be_v no_o sin_n against_o christ_n for_o weak_a brethren_n not_o to_o use_v either_o these_o or_o any_o other_o relic_n monument_n and_o memorial_n of_o idolatry_n in_o the_o service_n and_o worship_n of_o the_o true_a god_n if_o also_o the_o weak_a in_o faith_n can_v not_o use_v they_o waver_o without_o sin_n against_o christ_n if_o last_o they_o have_v liberty_n and_o freedom_n by_o the_o apostle_n doctrine_n not_o to_o use_v they_o at_o all_o we_o desire_v your_o lordship_n to_o resolve_v we_o out_o of_o holy_a writ_n how_o it_o may_v be_v lawful_a in_o foro_fw-la conscientiae_fw-la to_o bring_v weak_a brethren_n before_o the_o seat_n of_o magistrate_n to_o excommunicate_v they_o to_o revile_v they_o &_o to_o speak_v all_o manner_n of_o evil_a against_o they_o for_o use_v their_o apostolical_a freedom_n for_o be_v charitable_a and_o for_o not_o commit_v sin_n but_o sir_n by_o your_o patience_n they_o be_v not_o handle_v after_o any_o such_o manner_n simple_o bb._n and_o only_o for_o not_o use_v the_o surplice_n not_o make_v a_o cross_n not_o kneel_v in_o the_o act_n of_o receyve_v the_o communion_n but_o for_o contempt_n of_o not_o use_v and_o make_v the_o same_o and_o not_o kneel_v at_o the_o commandment_n of_o the_o christian_n magistrate_n who_o not_o to_o obey_v in_o thing_n indifferent_a be_v to_o sin_n against_o christ_n and_o for_o this_o sin_n they_o ought_v to_o be_v excommunicate_v etc._n etc._n though_o this_o be_v a_o maxim_n in_o some_o
