mercy_n to_o his_o people_n i_o say_v when_o we_o come_v to_o worship_n god_n we_o come_v to_o set_v ourselves_o before_o god_n in_o those_o way_n that_o god_n do_v use_v to_o communicate_v the_o choice_n most_o excellent_a and_o glorious_a rich_a mercy_n that_o he_o have_v to_o communicate_v to_o his_o creature_n when_o we_o have_v to_o deal_v with_o creature_n as_o meat_n and_o drink_n and_o our_o outward_a business_n we_o have_v to_o do_v with_o god_n in_o they_o but_o when_o we_o come_v to_o worship_n god_n we_o come_v to_o present_v ourselves_o before_o he_o in_o those_o thing_n that_o he_o do_v use_v to_o let_v out_o himself_o through_o in_o a_o more_o special_a and_o glorious_a manner_n to_o the_o soul_n of_o his_o people_n what_o be_v the_o reason_n why_o heaven_n be_v say_v to_o be_v the_o presence_n of_o god_n and_o why_o those_o that_o be_v in_o heaven_n be_v say_v to_o live_v with_o god_n there_o they_o behold_v the_o face_n of_o god_n and_o be_v before_o he_o in_o a_o special_a manner_n therefore_o when_o christ_n teach_v we_o to_o pray_v he_o teach_v we_o to_o look_v up_o to_o heaven_n and_o to_o say_v our_o father_n which_o be_v in_o heaven_n etc._n etc._n now_o certain_o the_o essential_a presence_n of_o god_n be_v on_o earth_n as_o true_o and_o real_o as_o in_o heaven_n and_o god_n be_v not_o so_o as_o to_o have_v one_o part_n in_o one_o place_n and_o another_o in_o another_o but_o all_o god_n be_v in_o every_o place_n but_o the_o reason_n why_o god_n be_v say_v to_o be_v in_o heaven_n it_o be_v because_o the_o lord_n make_v know_v himself_o there_o in_o a_o more_o glorious_a manner_n than_o in_o any_o other_o place_n and_o therefore_o heaven_n be_v the_o presence_n of_o god_n in_o a_o more_o special_a way_n now_o than_o if_o the_o communication_n of_o god_n unto_o a_o creature_n be_v enough_o to_o make_v the_o presence_n of_o god_n more_o special_a if_o this_o be_v enough_o to_o make_v a_o creature_n to_o live_v with_o god_n and_o to_o be_v before_o his_o face_n because_o they_o be_v there_o where_o god_n do_v most_o communicate_v himself_o then_o certain_o when_o we_o come_v to_o worship_n god_n we_o come_v to_o be_v near_o god_n and_o be_v with_o god_n because_o the_o duty_n of_o his_o worship_n be_v those_o mean_n that_o the_o lord_n have_v appoint_v for_o the_o let_v out_o of_o himself_o in_o the_o glory_n of_o his_o goodness_n and_o mercy_n to_o his_o people_n you_o may_v expect_v other_o manner_n of_o communication_n of_o god_n goodness_n through_o the_o duty_n of_o his_o worship_n than_o in_o any_o other_o way_n and_o that_o be_v the_o second_o respect_n wherein_o you_o may_v be_v say_v to_o draw_v nigh_o to_o god_n in_o holy_a duty_n three_o you_o may_v be_v say_v to_o draw_v nigh_o to_o god_n because_o than_o we_o shall_v and_o if_o we_o worship_n god_n as_o we_o ought_v we_o do_v act_v our_o faith_n and_o humility_n and_o all_o the_o grace_n of_o the_o spirit_n we_o do_v act_v they_o as_o it_o be_v upon_o god_n when_o we_o come_v to_o worship_v he_o that_o be_v require_v in_o every_o duty_n of_o worship_n that_o you_o shall_v stir_v up_o the_o faculty_n of_o your_o soul_n and_o all_o near_o to_o he_o therefore_o in_o isa_n 29.13_o the_o lord_n complain_v there_o this_o people_n draw_v near_o to_o i_o with_o their_o lip_n but_o their_o heart_n be_v far_o from_o i_o as_o if_o god_n there_o that_o no_o man_n do_v stir_v up_o himself_o to_o take_v hold_n on_o he_o when_o we_o come_v to_o worship_n god_n we_o shall_v stir_v up_o ourselves_o to_o take_v hold_n of_o god_n and_o perform_v any_o act_n of_o worship_n true_o this_o one_o thing_n will_v be_v of_o marvellous_a use_n and_o it_o will_v help_v forward_o to_o the_o next_o point_n of_o sanctify_v of_o god_n name_n this_o you_o be_v all_o convince_v of_o that_o it_o be_v your_o duty_n to_o worship_n god_n when_o you_o pray_v you_o come_v to_o worship_n god_n when_o you_o come_v to_o hear_v his_o word_n you_o come_v to_o worship_v he_o and_o when_o you_o receive_v the_o sacrament_n you_o worship_v he_o now_o if_o i_o shall_v come_v from_o one_o end_n of_o the_o congregation_n to_o the_o other_o and_o ask_v every_o one_o of_o you_o this_o question_n it_o be_v your_o duty_n to_o worship_n god_n be_v it_o not_o yes_o that_o you_o will_v all_o be_v ready_a to_o answer_v and_o what_o do_v you_o do_v when_o you_o worship_n god_n i_o fear_v that_o this_o second_o question_n will_v gravil_v many_o you_o will_v say_v we_o must_v pray_v to_o god_n and_o serve_v he_o and_o hear_v his_o word_n and_o go_v to_o the_o communion_n yea_o but_o what_o do_v your_o soul_n do_v in_o this_o work_n of_o worship_v of_o god_n this_o shall_v be_v the_o answer_n and_o so_o you_o shall_v think_v with_o yourselves_o and_o charge_v this_o upon_o your_o own_o heart_n i_o be_o now_o go_v to_o worship_n god_n either_o in_o prayer_n word_n or_o sacrament_n i_o be_o now_o go_v to_o tender_v up_o that_o homage_n that_o be_v due_a from_o a_o creature_n to_o the_o infinite_a creator_n so_o that_o i_o must_v so_o pray_v as_o i_o must_v manifest_v that_o high_a respect_n that_o i_o owe_v to_o god_n as_o my_o creator_n but_o that_o i_o shall_v
offer_v to_o god_n without_o spot_n that_o our_o conscience_n may_v be_v purge_v from_o dead_a work_n that_o we_o may_v be_v purge_v from_o that_o natural_a filthiness_n and_o uncleanness_n in_o which_o we_o all_o be_v for_o the_o whole_a world_n do_v lie_v in_o filth_n as_o a_o carrion_n do_v lie_v in_o his_o slime_n now_o if_o we_o will_v worship_v god_n so_o as_o to_o sanctify_v he_o we_o must_v apply_v christ_n to_o our_o soul_n and_o get_v our_o conscience_n purge_v from_o dead_a work_n and_o to_o have_v the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n in_o we_o to_o quicken_v up_o our_o heart_n in_o the_o way_n of_o holiness_n to_o have_v the_o image_n of_o jesus_n christ_n in_o we_o whereby_o we_o may_v be_v holy_a according_a to_o our_o proportion_n even_o as_o he_o himself_o be_v holy_a this_o be_v the_o sanctify_a of_o the_o heart_n there_o must_v be_v a_o habitual_a sanctification_n and_o a_o actual_a sanctification_n of_o the_o heart_n a_o habitual_a that_o be_v that_o the_o heart_n must_v be_v change_v through_o the_o work_n of_o regeneration_n there_o must_v be_v a_o regeneration_n in_o the_o heart_n there_o must_v be_v divine_a principle_n of_o the_o grace_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n in_o the_o heart_n but_o you_o will_v say_v may_v not_o a_o unregenerate_a man_n pray_v to_o that_o i_o answer_v it_o be_v true_a it_o be_v his_o duty_n to_o pray_v pour_v forth_o thy_o wrath_n upon_o the_o heathen_a and_o upon_o the_o family_n that_o call_v not_o upon_o thy_o name_n but_o it_o be_v as_o true_a that_o they_o can_v sanctify_v god_n name_n in_o do_v of_o it_o only_o be_v habitual_a sanctification_n but_o actual_a sanctification_n likewise_o as_o in_o exod._n 19.10.11_o there_o you_o see_v what_o ado_n there_o be_v to_o fit_v they_o for_o the_o hear_n of_o the_o law_n because_o god_n be_v to_o come_v among_o they_o god_n be_v to_o come_v among_o we_o and_o we_o be_v to_o come_v to_o god_n when_o we_o be_v to_o perform_v holy_a duty_n therefore_o it_o your_o corruption_n and_o a_o act_n of_o grace_n so_o that_o one_o can_v sanctify_v god_n name_n in_o holy_a duty_n unless_o he_o come_v thu_fw-mi far_o to_o be_v able_a to_o say_v lord_n thou_o that_o know_v all_o thing_n know_v there_o be_v nothing_o that_o thou_o do_v reveal_v to_o be_v contrary_a to_o thy_o will_n but_o my_o heart_n be_v against_o it_o that_o be_v the_o least_o the_o person_n of_o man_n because_o they_o do_v good_a action_n but_o god_n accept_v of_o the_o action_n of_o man_n because_o their_o person_n be_v good_a if_o indeed_o we_o see_v a_o man_n do_v good_a than_o we_o love_v he_o and_o accept_v of_o the_o person_n of_o the_o man_n but_o god_n first_o will_v accept_v of_o the_o person_n before_o the_o action_n as_o the_o lord_n acept_v of_o abel_n first_o and_o then_o he_o accept_v his_o offering_n so_o you_o must_v look_v to_o that_o to_o have_v your_o person_n first_o accept_v of_o god_n before_o any_o duty_n can_v be_v accept_v you_o think_v though_o you_o be_v wicked_a and_o sinful_a yet_o if_o you_o amend_v your_o life_n god_n will_v accept_v of_o you_o you_o go_v that_o way_n to_o work_v but_o certain_o that_o be_v the_o wrong_a way_n you_o must_v first_o look_v after_o mean_n of_o acception_n of_o your_o person_n which_o be_v through_o the_o righteousness_n of_o jesus_n christ_n and_o through_o the_o sanctification_n ot_fw-mi perhaps_o the_o word_n may_v be_v fine_a and_o brave_a but_o if_o there_o be_v a_o unclean_a heart_n the_o duty_n will_v be_v unclean_a as_o it_o be_v with_o a_o man_n that_o have_v the_o plague_n suppose_v he_o make_v a_o brave_a oration_n yet_o his_o breath_n be_v infectious_a so_o it_o be_v in_o our_o service_n with_o god_n if_o so_o be_v that_o our_o heart_n within_o we_o have_v the_o plague_n then_o certain_o the_o breath_n that_o come_v from_o we_o all_o our_o duty_n will_v be_v unclean_a and_o therefore_o that_o be_v the_o first_o thing_n that_o we_o be_v to_o look_v for_o in_o the_o sanctify_a god_n name_v in_o holy_a duty_n look_v to_o have_v thy_o heart_n sanctify_v and_o consider_v from_o what_o principle_n it_o come_v it_o be_v for_o want_n of_o this_o that_o thousand_o of_o our_o duty_n be_v cast_v aside_o and_o god_n never_o do_v regard_v they_o but_o this_o be_v the_o first_o particular_a there_o be_v many_o more_o to_o speak_v of_o sermon_n v._n leviticus_n so_o have_v their_o heart_n work_v towards_o he_o there_o will_v be_v mighty_a working_n of_o spirit_n towards_o god_n if_o we_o see_v he_o by_o the_o eye_n of_o faith_n as_o well_o as_o reason_n 7_o open_v but_o o_o lord_n open_v my_o eye_n and_o open_a my_o heart_n lord_n my_o heart_n natural_o be_v lock_v up_o against_o thy_o word_n there_o be_v such_o ward_n in_o my_o heart_n that_o except_o thou_o be_v please_v to_o put_v in_o a_o key_n that_o may_v fit_v my_o heart_n it_o will_v never_o open_v man_n he_o be_v not_o able_a to_o know_v my_o heart_n and_o therefore_o he_o can_v fit_v a_o key_n to_o answer_v every_o ward_n to_o resolve_v every_o doubt_n to_o silence_v every_o objection_n but_o lord_n thou_o can_v do_v it_o do_v thou_o lord_n therefore_o fit_v thy_o word_n this_o day_n
