believe_v if_o imputation_n be_v the_o condition_n than_o the_o whole_a covenant_n shall_v lie_v upon_o god_n and_o nothing_o shall_v be_v require_v on_o the_o creature_n part_n for_o imputation_n be_v a_o act_n of_o god_n not_o of_o man_n 2._o i_o answer_v that_o if_o it_o be_v grant_v that_o the_o righteousness_n or_o the_o work_n of_o the_o law_n impute_v from_o christ_n be_v that_o can_v be_v impute_v unto_o they_o for_o righteousness_n but_o the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n be_v that_o for_o which_o righteousness_n be_v impute_v to_o those_o that_o believe_v therefore_o itself_o can_v be_v impute_v for_o righteousness_n the_o assumption_n i_o presume_v no_o man_n will_v deny_v except_o those_o that_o deny_v the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n to_o be_v the_o meritorious_a cause_n of_o it_o than_o it_o be_v not_o only_o untrue_a but_o unpossible_a that_o the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n shall_v be_v the_o righteousness_n of_o a_o believer_n sed_fw-la verum_fw-la prius_fw-la ergo_fw-la et_fw-la posterius_fw-la for_o the_o consequence_n in_o the_o major_a proposition_n it_o be_v so_o evident_a in_o common_a apprehension_n that_o to_o labour_v any_o further_a illustration_n of_o it_o be_v but_o to_o light_v up_o a_o candle_n to_o the_o sun_n because_o the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n and_o the_o righteousness_n or_o justification_n of_o a_o believer_n stand_v in_o that_o relation_n we_o speak_v of_o the_o one_o to_o the_o other_o as_o the_o cause_n to_o the_o effect_n the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n be_v the_o meritorious_a cause_n and_o the_o righteousness_n of_o a_o believer_n or_o person_n justify_v as_o the_o effect_n merit_v and_o effect_v by_o that_o cause_n and_o for_o the_o minor_a that_o be_v every_o whit_n as_o evident_a and_o undeniable_a as_o it_o viz._n that_o the_o thing_n merit_v can_v be_v the_o same_o with_o that_o which_o be_v the_o meritorious_a cause_n of_o it_o for_o so_o the_o same_o thing_n shall_v be_v the_o meritorious_a cause_n of_o itself_o a_o conclusion_n so_o broad_a that_o there_o be_v no_o apprehension_n so_o weak_a but_o have_v strength_n enough_o to_o disclaim_v neither_o principal_a efficient_a cause_n of_o it_o nor_o his_o brush_n or_o pencil_n which_o be_v the_o instrumental_a efficient_a cause_n nor_o the_o money_n or_o wage_n he_o receive_v for_o the_o do_v it_o which_o be_v as_o the_o meritorious_a efficient_a cause_n of_o it_o none_o of_o all_o these_o be_v any_o intrinsical_n or_o constitute_a part_n of_o the_o effect_n neither_o as_o the_o matter_n nor_o as_o the_o form_n thereof_o the_o whiteness_n apply_v or_o put_v upon_o the_o matter_n or_o subject_n viz._n the_o wall_n by_o all_o the_o three_o efficient_n according_a to_o their_o several_a operation_n about_o it_o be_v the_o form_n or_o formal_a part_n of_o it_o and_o the_o wall_n itself_o whereunto_o this_o form_n be_v join_v couple_v or_o

faith_n by_o which_o a_o man_n be_v instrumental_o justify_v be_v a_o act_n of_o faith_n and_o that_o faith_n that_o lay_v hold_v upon_o the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n be_v a_o act_n of_o faith_n too_o therefore_o let_v man_n turn_v themselves_o any_o way_n and_o which_o way_n they_o please_v and_o make_v their_o word_n to_o fall_v either_o to_o the_o north_n or_o towards_o the_o south_n if_o they_o mean_v as_o they_o say_v that_o faith_n indeed_o justifi_v they_o must_v mean_v that_o it_o be_v the_o act_n of_o faith_n that_o justifi_v and_o when_o themselves_o will_v say_v that_o faith_n the_o act_n of_o faith_n that_o justifi_v if_o it_o be_v yet_o further_o reply_v and_o say_v sect_n 4_o that_z when_o man_n say_v we_o be_v justify_v by_o faith_n their_o meaning_n be_v that_o we_o be_v justify_v by_o that_o which_o faith_n apprehend_v and_o this_o be_v far_o from_o say_v that_o faith_n be_v impute_v for_o righteousness_n to_o this_o i_o answer_v 1._o if_o their_o meaning_n be_v simple_o and_o without_o limitation_n so_o that_o we_o be_v justify_v by_o that_o which_o faith_n apprehend_v when_o they_o say_v we_o be_v justify_v by_o faith_n than_o they_o speak_v more_o truth_n than_o they_o be_v aware_a of_o and_o as_o it_o seem_v more_o than_o they_o intend_v to_o speak_v for_o that_o faith_n justifi_v be_v most_o true_a but_o that_o whatsoever_o faith_n apprehend_v shall_v justify_v have_v no_o fellowship_n with_o truth_n no_o not_o so_o much_o as_o in_o appearance_n for_o by_o faith_n we_o understand_v or_o apprehend_v the_o world_n be_v make_v heb._n 11.3_o
