and_o enlarge_a his_o promise_n of_o the_o great_a thing_n he_o be_v resolve_v to_o do_v for_o he_o that_o yet_o he_o all_o this_o while_n shall_v not_o be_v justify_v and_o accept_v with_o god_n upon_o his_o believe_a i_o say_v can_v any_o such_o thought_n possible_o enter_v into_o any_o man_n heart_n if_o not_o than_o it_o be_v manifest_a that_o that_o act_n of_o abraham_n faith_n gen._n 15.6_o which_o be_v count_v to_o he_o for_o righteousness_n be_v but_o a_o after-act_n not_o the_o beginning-act_n of_o his_o justification_n and_o consequent_o that_o a_o man_n justification_n do_v not_o depend_v only_o upon_o one_o transient_a act_n of_o faith_n when_o he_o begin_v to_o believe_v but_o upon_o a_o continuation_n renew_v and_o multiplication_n of_o the_o same_o or_o like_a act_n abraham_n though_o he_o believe_v in_o god_n before_o and_o be_v accept_v with_o god_n before_o yet_o his_o after-faith_n be_v impute_v to_o he_o for_o righteousness_n as_o well_o as_o his_o former_a and_o if_o he_o shall_v not_o have_v believe_v god_n upon_o this_o renew_n of_o his_o promise_n as_o well_o as_o at_o the_o first_o make_v of_o it_o i_o see_v not_o how_o righteousness_n can_v at_o this_o time_n have_v be_v impute_v to_o he_o upon_o account_n of_o his_o former_a believe_a no_o it_o be_v impute_v upon_o his_o present_a believe_v and_o see_v that_o we_o find_v that_o abraham_n justification_n be_v here_o in_o gen._n 15.6_o attribute_v to_o a_o after_o act_v of_o his_o faith_n there_o be_v the_o same_o reason_n why_o his_o justification_n shall_v again_o be_v ascribe_v unto_o that_o act_n of_o his_o faith_n by_o which_o he_o offer_v up_o his_o son_n though_o it_o be_v suppose_v to_o follow_v twenty_o year_n after_o the_o other_o as_o that_o do_v many_o year_n after_o the_o first_o these_o thing_n consider_v it_o need_v not_o be_v look_v upon_o as_o any_o paradox_n or_o wonder_n that_o james_n shall_v attribute_v abraham_n justification_n before_o god_n unto_o a_o act_n of_o his_o faith_n which_o take_v not_o place_n till_o many_o year_n after_o he_o have_v be_v in_o the_o faith_n of_o god_n we_o hear_v before_o from_o rom._n 4.12_o that_o the_o faith_n by_o which_o abraham_n be_v justify_v be_v a_o walk_a faith_n and_o have_v step_n and_o now_o we_o see_v that_o the_o latter_a step_n of_o the_o same_o faith_n be_v necessary_a to_o his_o justification_n as_o well_o as_o the_o former_a he_o have_v and_o enjoy_v mean_n motive_n and_o opportunity_n of_o exert_v these_o latter_a act_n as_o well_o as_o of_o the_o former_a and_o it_o be_v of_o special_a note_n to_o this_o point_n that_o the_o lord_n cast_v the_o performance_n of_o a_o promise_n which_o he_o have_v make_v to_o abraham_n many_o year_n before_o upon_o that_o act_n of_o his_o faith_n and_o obedience_n which_o take_v place_n but_o now_o when_o he_o will_v have_v offer_v isaac_n gen._n 22.16_o 17_o 18._o by_o myself_o have_v i_o swear_v say_v the_o lord_n for_o because_o thou_o have_v do_v this_o thing_n and_o have_v not_o withhold_v thy_o son_n thy_o only_a son_n that_o in_o blessing_n i_o will_v bless_v thou_o and_o in_o multiply_v i_o will_v multiply_v thy_o seed_n as_o the_o star_n of_o heaven_n and_o as_o the_o sand_n which_o be_v upon_o the_o sea_n shore_n and_o thy_o seed_n shall_v possess_v the_o gate_n of_o his_o enemy_n and_o in_o thy_o seed_n shall_v all_o the_o nation_n of_o the_o earth_n be_v bless_v because_o thou_o have_v obey_v my_o voice_n mark_v how_o god_n ground_n this_o promise_v note_v in_o these_o two_o expression_n because_o thou_o have_v do_v this_o thing_n and_o because_o thou_o have_v obey_v my_o voice_n and_o yet_o this_o promise_n for_o substance_n have_v be_v make_v he_o more_o than_o once_o before_o he_o have_v do_v that_o thing_n and_o before_o he_o have_v herein_o obey_v his_o voice_n as_o be_v evident_a gen._n 12.2_o 3_o &_o 13.15_o 16._o &_o 15.5_o 6._o from_o which_o i_o gather_v that_o collateral_a or_o after_o act_n of_o faith_n and_o obedience_n be_v as_o necessary_a to_o continue_v and_o make_v good_a a_o man_n interest_n in_o the_o promise_v for_o the_o future_a as_o the_o first_o act_n of_o his_o faith_n and_o obedience_n be_v to_o entitle_v he_o to_o they_o at_o the_o first_o the_o lord_n at_o the_o first_o make_v his_o promise_n to_o abraham_n conditional_o that_o in_o case_n he_o will_v get_v he_o out_o of_o his_o own_o country_n and_o from_o his_o kindred_n and_o from_o his_o father_n house_n unto_o a_o land_n which_o he_o will_v show_v he_o that_o then_o he_o will_v make_v he_o a_o great_a nation_n and_o bless_v he_o and_o make_v his_o name_n great_a and_o make_v he_o a_o blessing_n and_o bless_v they_o that_o shall_v bless_v he_o and_o curse_v they_o that_o shall_v curse_v he_o and_o that_o in_o he_o shall_v all_o family_n of_o the_o earth_n be_v bless_v gen._n 12.1_o 2_o 3._o afterward_o when_o abraham_n upon_o belief_n of_o this_o promise_n have_v actual_o obey_v god_n and_o be_v come_v into_o the_o land_n to_o which_o he_o lead_v he_o than_o god_n renew_v the_o same_o promise_n to_o he_o once_o and_o again_o without_o express_v that_o condition_n because_o he_o have_v now_o so_o far_o fulfil_v it_o this_o we_o may_v see_v gen._n 13.15_o 16._o &_o 15.5_o 6._o as_o if_o he_o renew_v his_o promise_n now_o by_o way_n of_o reward_n unto_o his_o former_a faith_n and_o obedience_n just_a as_o in_o this_o case_n of_o his_o offering_n of_o isaac_n the_o lord_n renew_v the_o same_o promise_n with_o the_o addition_n of_o his_o oath_n to_o bind_v it_o by_o way_n
