parliament_n and_o nation_n be_v concern_v in_o this_o and_o the_o like_a case_n that_o right_o be_v do_v and_o no_o violation_n of_o article_n permit_v after_o many_o debate_n and_o mature_a deliberation_n have_v thereupon_o and_o be_v satisfy_v in_o their_o judgement_n and_o conscience_n that_o the_o petitioner_n sir_n john_n stawell_n be_v full_o capable_a of_o the_o relief_n intend_v to_o person_n within_o article_n by_o the_o act_n direct_v and_o authorise_v the_o same_o and_o constitute_v this_o court_n do_v in_o order_n thereto_o and_o in_o pursuance_n of_o the_o power_n and_o trust_v to_o they_o commit_v in_o that_o behalf_n resolve_v declare_v and_o adjudge_v that_o the_o petitioner_n sir_n john_n stawell_n have_v good_a right_n and_o by_o his_o say_a article_n ought_v committee_n and_o put_v it_o into_o mr_n ash_n his_o hand_n who_o when_o he_o have_v read_v it_o throw_v it_o down_o upon_o the_o table_n and_o say_v that_o it_o be_v a_o remonstrance_n and_o not_o they_o have_v be_v so_o there_o be_v very_o great_a reason_n that_o my_o judgement_n and_o opinion_n shall_v subscribe_v unto_o they_o but_o as_o for_o my_o estate_n it_o be_v my_o servant_n and_o i_o have_v a_o power_n to_o command_v it_o but_o my_o conscience_n be_v my_o master_n and_o have_v power_n to_o command_v i_o and_o to_o it_o i_o must_v yield_v obedience_n and_o since_o those_o oath_n which_o you_o offer_v i_o be_v contrary_a to_o my_o article_n and_o repugnant_a to_o those_o which_o former_o i_o have_v take_v i_o desire_v you_o will_v excuse_v i_o if_o i_o refuse_v they_o whereupon_o mr_n ash_n will_v i_o to_o withdraw_v and_o be_v call_v for_o again_o mr_n ash_n tell_v i_o that_o i_o be_v but_o late_o come_v to_o town_n and_o it_o may_v be_v that_o i_o have_v not_o answer_n now_o i_o do_v they_o will_v say_v that_o by_o the_o acceptation_n of_o time_n i_o have_v abuse_v their_o expectation_n which_o i_o be_v unwilling_a to_o do_v hereupon_o i_o be_v will_v to_o withdraw_v and_o do_v again_o attend_v without_o the_o door_n until_o the_o committee_n rise_v not_o know_v whether_o they_o may_v have_v any_o thing_n more_o to_o say_v unto_o i_o but_o at_o that_o time_n hear_v nothing_o more_o from_o they_o nor_o at_o any_o time_n after_o until_o april_n 12._o follow_v at_o which_o time_n i_o receive_v a_o ticket_n from_o a_o messenger_n send_v unto_o i_o which_o be_v to_o appear_v the_o next_o day_n at_o goldsmiths-hall_n at_o two_o of_o the_o clock_n in_o the_o afternoon_n i_o do_v then_o appear_v and_o i_o well_o remember_v that_o when_o i_o come_v into_o the_o room_n where_o the_o committee_n sit_v mr_n ash_n have_v leave_v the_o chair_n unto_o mr_n john_n stephens_n and_o then_o tell_v mr_n stephens_n that_o i_o have_v be_v former_o before_o they_o and_o have_v prefer_v a_o petition_n desire_v to_o be_v admit_v unto_o my_o composition_n but_o that_o i_o have_v refuse_v both_o to_o confess_v my_o delinquency_n by_o my_o petition_n and_o to_o take_v the_o negative_a oath_n and_o covenant_n and_o that_o the_o committee_n have_v give_v i_o time_n till_o then_o to_o consider_v of_o it_o whereupon_o mr_n stephens_n ask_v i_o what_o i_o do_v say_v to_o it_o i_o make_v he_o this_o answer_n that_o there_o be_v nothing_o in_o what_o mr_n ash_n have_v deliver_v which_o have_v the_o nature_n of_o a_o question_n to_o i_o but_o be_v speak_v to_o inform_v he_o who_o be_v not_o there_o the_o day_n before_o whereunto_o mr_n stephens_n reply_v say_v you_o so_o then_o sir_n by_o your_o leave_n i_o will_v put_v you_o a_o short_a question_n will_v you_o take_v the_o negative_a oath_n and_o covenant_n or_o no_o to_o which_o i_o answer_v that_o usual_o sir_n to_o a_o short_a question_n i_o do_v return_v a_o short_a answer_n but_o sir_n i_o
