of_o the_o three_o parliament_n hold_v in_o the_o reign_n of_o our_o dear_a royal_a brother_n of_o ever_o glorious_a memory_n entitle_v act_n restrain_v the_o exorbitant_a expense_n of_o marriage_n etc._n etc._n upon_o the_o consideration_n therein-mentioned_n the_o keep_n of_o penny-wedding_n be_v prohibit_v and_o discharge_v under_o and_o with_o the_o certification_n and_o qualifification_n estate_n of_o parliament_n do_v statute_n and_o ordain_v that_o marriage_n baptism_n and_o burial_n shall_v be_v solemnize_v and_o go_v about_o in_o sober_a and_o decent_a manner_n and_o that_o at_o marriage_n beside_o the_o marry_a person_n their_o parent_n child_n brother_n and_o sister_n and_o the_o family_n wherein_o they_o live_v there_o shall_v not_o be_v present_a at_o any_o contract_n of_o marriage_n or_o in-fare_a or_o meet_v upon_o occasion_n thereof_o above_o four_o friend_n on_o either_o side_n with_o their_o ordinary_a domestic_a servant_n and_o that_o neither_o bridegroom_n nor_o bride_n nor_o their_o parent_n or_o relation_n tutor_n or_o curator_n for_o they_o and_o to_o their_o use_n shall_v make_v above_o two_o change_n of_o raiment_n at_o that_o time_n or_o upon_o that_o occasion_n certify_v such_o person_n as_o shall_v contraveen_v if_o they_o be_v land_a person_n they_o shall_v be_v liable_a in_o the_o four_o part_n of_o their_o yearly_a value_a rent_n and_o those_o who_o be_v not_o land_a person_n in_o the_o four_o part_n of_o their_o movable_n burgess_n according_a to_o their_o condition_n and_o mean_n not_o exceed_v five_o hundred_o mark_n scot_n and_o mean_a craftsman_n and_o servant_n not_o exceed_v one_o hundred_o mark_n and_o if_o there_o shall_v be_v any_o great_a number_n of_o person_n than_o aforesaid_a in_o any_o house_n or_o inn_n within_o burgh_n or_o suburb_n thereof_o or_o within_o two_o mile_n of_o the_o same_o where_o penny-wedding_n be_v make_v that_o the_o master_n of_o the_o house_n shall_v be_v fine_v in_o the_o sum_n of_o five_o hundred_o mark_n scot_n and_o it_o be_v statute_n and_o ordain_v that_o at_o baptism_n upon_o that_o occasion_n beside_o the_o parent_n child_n brother_n and_o sister_n and_o those_o of_o the_o family_n there_o shall_v not_o be_v present_a above_o four_o witness_n and_o further_o his_o majesty_n with_o consent_n foresay_a statute_n and_o ordain_v that_o there_o shall_v not_o be_v invite_v to_o burial_n any_o great_a number_n of_o person_n than_o those_o follow_v viz._n to_o the_o burial_n of_o nobleman_n and_o bishop_n and_o their_o wife_n not_o above_o one_o hundred_o nobleman_n and_o gentleman_n to_o the_o burial_n of_o a_o baron_n of_o quality_n not_o above_o sixty_o and_o other_o land_a gentleman_n not_o above_o thirty_o and_o that_o the_o mourner_n at_o the_o burial_n of_o nobleman_n and_o bishop_n and_o their_o lady_n do_v not_o exceed_v thirty_o and_o at_o the_o burial_n of_o privy-counsellor_n lord_n of_o session_n baron_n provost_n of_o burgh_n and_o their_o wife_n
