man_n a_o answer_n unto_o the_o text_n allege_v by_o arminian_o to_o prove_v a_o universal_a redemption_n john_n 3.16_o god_n so_o love_v the_o world_n that_o he_o give_v his_o only_a beget_v son_n etc._n etc._n by_o this_o text_n arminian_n will_v prove_v that_o christ_n die_v for_o all_o man_n and_o for_o this_o end_n they_o urge_v the_o word_n world_n in_o the_o text_n which_o they_o will_v needs_o have_v general_o and_o universal_o take_v so_o as_o to_o signify_v all_o man_n in_o the_o world_n whether_o good_a or_o bad_a believer_n or_o unbeliever_n and_o so_o as_o christ_n shall_v die_v for_o all_o man_n in_o the_o large_a sense_n answer_n 1_o i_o take_v it_o for_o a_o great_a weakness_n in_o arminian_o to_o build_v so_o confident_o upon_o the_o word_n world_n urge_v that_o it_o must_v be_v general_o take_v here_o for_o all_o man_n in_o the_o world_n who_o know_v not_o that_o know_v any_o thing_n in_o scripture_n that_o general_a word_n be_v very_o often_o use_v by_o holy_a penman_n particular_o the_o general_a word_n all_o be_v often_o use_v particular_o for_o some_o or_o for_o many_o as_o in_o matth._n 3.5_o 1._o cor._n 1.5_o and_o 13.2_o 7._o and_o 9.25_o and_o 6.12_o and_o 10.23_o 33._o many_o example_n may_v be_v give_v for_o other_o word_n also_o but_o pass_v by_o they_o i_o shall_v instance_n in_o the_o word_n in_o question_n the_o word_n world_n be_v sometime_o take_v for_o all_o man_n in_o the_o world_n as_o in_o rom._n 5.12_o and_o sometime_o it_o be_v take_v for_o all_o man_n in_o the_o world_n except_v eight_o person_n as_o in_o 2._o pet._n 3.6_o 1._o pet._n 3.20_o the_o world_n that_o then_o be_v perish_v over-flowed_n with_o water_n and_o sometime_o it_o be_v take_v for_o the_o most_o man_n in_o the_o world_n as_o in_o 2._o cor._n 4.4_o john_n 15.18_o 19_o and_o 17.9_o the_o god_n of_o this_o world_n have_v blind_v the_o mind_n etc._n etc._n and_o sometime_o it_o be_v take_v for_o the_o lesser_a number_n of_o man_n in_o the_o world_n as_o in_o act_n 17.6_o john_n 12.19_o these_o be_v they_o which_o have_v subvert_v the_o state_n of_o the_o world_n and_o behold_v the_o world_n go_v after_o he_o now_o since_o this_o word_n be_v so_o various_o use_v how_o can_v they_o be_v so_o confident_a as_o to_o aver_v that_o it_o must_v be_v take_v in_o the_o large_a sense_n my_o answer_n therefore_o be_v that_o as_o the_o word_n word_n world_n be_v use_v for_o believer_n only_o and_o then_o it_o will_v follow_v that_o as_o there_o be_v a_o world_n of_o the_o wicked_a so_o there_o be_v a_o world_n of_o believer_n also_o for_o this_o end_n see_v john_n 1.29_o behold_v the_o lamb_n of_o god_n which_o take_v away_o the_o sin_n of_o the_o world_n though_o arminian_n say_v that_o christ_n this_o lamb_n of_o god_n die_v for_o the_o sin_n of_o the_o world_n and_o for_o all_o man_n by_o way_n of_o impetration_n yet_o they_o hold_v that_o christ_n have_v not_o justify_v or_o procure_v justification_n for_o all_o man_n in_o the_o world_n by_o way_n of_o application_n nor_o for_o any_o man_n but_o for_o believer_n only_o now_o this_o text_n speak_v of_o take_v away_o the_o sin_n of_o the_o world_n which_o be_v no_o less_o than_o to_o procure_v justification_n and_o to_o make_v application_n of_o christ_n death_n by_o free_v man_n from_o their_o sin_n and_o therefore_o this_o text_n be_v not_o to_o be_v understand_v of_o the_o world_n of_o all_o man_n but_o of_o believer_n only_o and_o of_o the_o world_n of_o believer_n for_o no_o man_n sin_n be_v take_v away_o but_o believer_n only_o see_v 2._o cor._n 5.19_o god_n be_v in_o christ_n and_o reconcile_v the_o world_n unto_o himself_o not_o impute_v their_o sin_n unto_o they_o here_o the_o world_n that_o be_v reconcile_v &_o
it_o have_v be_v woe_n to_o all_o godly_a person_n for_o as_o paul_n say_v of_o the_o godly_a and_o believe_a corinthian_n that_o there_o be_v a_o time_n when_o they_o be_v ungodly_a and_o unjust_a as_o idolater_n adulterer_n drunkard_n and_o extortioner_n etc._n etc._n 1._o cor._n 6.9_o 10_o 11._o so_o may_v i_o say_v there_o be_v a_o time_n before_o our_o conversion_n when_o we_o be_v ungodly_a and_o unjust_a if_o therefore_o christ_n have_v not_o die_v for_o ungodly_a and_o unjust_a person_n no_o godly_a man_n now_o live_v can_v possible_o be_v save_v wherefore_o we_o must_v distinguish_v of_o ungodly_a person_n thus_o there_o be_v some_o ungodly_a person_n who_o be_v become_v believe_v and_o penitent_a godly_a person_n and_o for_o these_o ungodly_a person_n christ_n
