maintain_v themselves_o in_o a_o licentious_a course_n but_o the_o believer_n will_v bless_v god_n fot_o it_o and_o be_v so_o far_o from_o lay_v it_o in_o his_o own_o way_n as_o a_o block_n of_o presumption_n that_o rather_o he_o will_v say_v if_o the_o lord_n have_v so_o regard_v i_o as_o to_o account_v i_o his_o perfect_a righteousness_n in_o the_o midst_n of_o my_o unavoidable_a corruption_n of_o nature_n and_o life_n shall_v i_o turn_v his_o grace_n into_o wantonness_n or_o shall_v not_o i_o keep_v all_o wilful_a wickedness_n from_o his_o eye_n who_o have_v turn_v his_o of_o it_o so_o it_o work_v the_o heart_n to_o the_o make_v more_o towards_o it_o if_o some_o bar_n of_o satan_n or_o corruption_n let_v not_o as_o by_o mourning_n for_o that_o sin_n which_o offend_v such_o a_o good_a god_n although_o yet_o i_o apply_v not_o this_o goodness_n and_o so_o by_o desire_v it_o to_o be_v my_o portion_n and_o see_v all_o other_o thing_n to_o be_v dross_n to_o it_o and_o as_o faith_n proper_a to_o the_o elect._n the_o three_o i_o take_v to_o be_v a_o middle_a work_n which_o as_o it_o be_v not_o grace_v formal_o so_o neither_o be_v it_o a_o common_a work_n but_o such_o a_o work_n of_o the_o spirit_n as_o stand_v in_o order_n to_o faith_n certain_o follow_v and_o this_o be_v good_a in_o respect_n of_o that_o it_o produce_v to_o with_o grace_n itself_o which_o shall_v not_o be_v hinder_v but_o perfect_v in_o due_a time_n and_o of_o this_o sort_n be_v these_o preparation_n now_o to_o make_v these_o the_o work_n of_o faith_n be_v inconvenient_a for_o although_o a_o soul_n to_o be_v convert_v have_v a_o seed_n of_o grace_n remote_o cast_v in_o by_o the_o spirit_n which_o shall_v be_v perfect_v yet_o how_o absurd_a be_v it_o to_o say_v that_o a_o man_n have_v that_o which_o he_o mourn_v for_o the_o want_n of_o or_o which_o he_o desire_v to_o have_v i_o say_v in_o that_o respect_n in_o which_o he_o mourn_v and_o desire_v it_o otherwise_o i_o do_v not_o doubt_v but_o where_o there_o be_v true_a faith_n there_o may_v be_v a_o mourn_a after_o more_o it_o be_v object_v faith_n may_v be_v and_o not_o discern_v i_o answer_v for_o a_o time_n it_o may_v and_o in_o some_o degree_n or_o temptation_n hold_v under_o but_o not_o in_o a_o habit_v and_o settle_v manner_n of_o absence_n q._n what_o say_v you_o to_o the_o second_o doubt_n this_o opinion_n seem_v to_o cross_v a_o truth_n that_o conversion_n be_v wrought_v in_o a_o instant_n a._n i_o deny_v it_o not_o by_o this_o assertion_n for_o as_o it_o be_v in_o the_o womb_n that_o there_o be_v some_o preparation_n natural_a in_o the_o fruit_n to_o
make_v it_o meet_v for_o the_o soul_n to_o enter_v with_o the_o quicken_a power_n of_o it_o and_o yet_o that_o only_o be_v the_o be_v of_o the_o reasonable_a creature_n so_o these_o step_n wrought_v in_o the_o soul_n before_o faith_n be_v not_o faith_n but_o the_o conversion_n of_o the_o soul_n to_o god_n be_v in_o the_o only_a act_n of_o faith_n in_o which_o the_o work_n of_o call_v be_v perfect_v and_o not_o afore_o q._n dispatch_v the_o rest_n the_o three_o doubt_n be_v that_o the_o work_n of_o the_o law_n be_v preparative_n enough_o for_o the_o gospel_n a._n so_o it_o be_v for_o the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o gospel_n to_o be_v offer_v to_o it_o but_o note_n by_o the_o way_n how_o this_o objection_n grant_v a_o legal_a preparation_n why_o not_o other_o also_o but_o brief_o i_o answer_v that_o it_o be_v false_a for_o the_o law_n serve_v not_o to_o break_v the_o heart_n or_o open_a and_o melt_v it_o although_o it_o do_v batter_v and_o subdue_v the_o fierceness_n of_o it_o in_o general_a now_o the_o scripture_n urge_v other_o preparation_n and_o humiliation_n unto_o faith_n for_o it_o be_v as_o impossible_a to_o mould_v the_o break_a gobbet_n of_o a_o vessel_n into_o a_o new_a one_o without_o melt_a as_o the_o heart_n under_o legal_a terror_n into_o a_o believe_a one_o without_o some_o disposition_n of_o the_o gospel_n q._n but_o the_o last_o doubt_n be_v great_a that_o this_o doctrine_n favour_v popish_a preparation_n to_o our_o own_o conversion_n teach_v to_o attain_v to_o grace_v by_o somewhat_o within_o ourselves_o a._n this_o have_v a_o colour_n in_o it_o and_o nothing_o else_o for_o who_o ever_o ascribe_v these_o to_o any_o thing_n in_o we_o do_v we_o not_o acknowledge_v that_o the_o free_a offer_n of_o grace_n do_v make_v the_o heart_n sensible_a tender_a and_o capable_a of_o grace_n as_o well_o as_o stamp_v the_o heart_n with_o it_o by_o faith_n both_o come_v from_o the_o gospel_n and_o so_o do_v all_o belong_v to_o reconciliation_n the_o warp_n and_o the_o woof_n of_o the_o cloth_n the_o alpha_n and_o omega_n the_o beginning_n to_o prevent_v and_o hold_v on_o and_o the_o finish_n of_o it_o come_v from_o thence_o only_o one_o thing_n i_o add_v it_o be_v true_a that_o many_o hearer_n do_v make_v it_o a_o tedious_a way_n to_o themselves_o through_o their_o own_o error_n for_o they_o think_v that_o the_o gospel_n urge_v these_o condition_n of_o faith_n as_o work_n of_o our_o own_o predispose_n ourselves_o and_o so_o aim_v at_o they_o that_o they_o bring_v they_o to_o god_n may_v take_v the_o ware_n for_o lay_v down_o the_o price_n and_o so_o when_o they_o feel_v their_o self-loving_a affection_n move_v they_o to_o mourn_v to_o desire_v to_o pray_v to_o deny_v some_o sin_n and_o occasion_n they_o think_v faith_n be_v not_o far_o off_o and_o thereupon_o for_o the_o time_n none_o be_v so_o hopeful_a as_o they_o but_o when_o they_o feel_v their_o heart_n never_o the_o free_a or_o quiet_a hereby_o but_o old_a slavery_n to_o abide_v still_o they_o be_v at_o a_o plunge_n and_o so_o wanze_v away_o like_a shadow_n but_o these_o man_n must_v consider_v the_o lord_n offer_v not_o grace_n upon_o such_o carnal_a term_n that_o which_o the_o soul_n shall_v look_v at_o in_o her_o preparation_n be_v not_o any_o of_o she_o own_o welfare_n and_o end_n by_o believe_v as_o think_v thereby_o to_o stop_v many_o fear_n
