that_o they_o be_v thereby_o necessitate_v to_o keep_v up_o the_o force_n within_o this_o kingdom_n and_o to_o provide_v for_o their_o entertainment_n have_v therefore_o think_v fit_a to_o prorogate_v and_o continue_v the_o monthly_a maintenance_n as_o it_o be_v impose_v upon_o the_o say_a kingdom_n by_o virtue_n of_o a_o act_n of_o the_o committee_n of_o estate_n of_o the_o 3._o of_o november_n last_v bypass_a 1648._o year_n for_o one_o month_n after_o the_o month_n of_o january_n contain_v in_o the_o former_a act._n which_o month_n shall_v begin_v upon_o the_o first_o day_n of_o february_n instant_a and_o continue_v till_o the_o first_o day_n of_o march_n next_o to_o come_v with_o a_o deduction_n of_o the_o just_a three_o part_n of_o the_o say_v monthly_a maintenance_n which_o be_v former_o establish_v save_o that_o the_o say_n shire_n and_o burgh_n shall_v be_v only_o liable_a in_o payment_n of_o the_o two_o part_n of_o the_o maintenance_n former_o impose_v upon_o they_o for_o the_o say_a month_n of_o february_n which_o two_o part_n shall_v be_v pay_v by_o they_o without_o any_o deduction_n or_o defalcation_n and_o therefore_o statute_n and_o ordain_v that_o ilk_fw-mi burgh_n and_o shire_n within_o this_o kingdom_n be_v and_o shall_v be_v liable_a and_o oblige_v in_o payment_n of_o the_o particular_a sum_n of_o money_n under-written_a for_o the_o say_a month_n of_o estate_n ordain_v that_o the_o letter_n and_o charge_n to_o follow_v upon_o this_o act_n for_o payment_n of_o the_o foresay_a maintenance_n shall_v be_v raise_v and_o direct_a at_o the_o instance_n of_o the_o say_a sir_n james_n stewart_n and_o collector_n aforesaid_a against_o the_o subcollector_n of_o shire_n magistrate_n of_o burgh_n collector_n of_o paroch_n heritor_n fewer_n liferenters_a and_o other_o indebt_v in_o payment_n of_o their_o several_a proportion_n of_o this_o monthly_a maintenance_n now_o impose_v and_o with_o power_n to_o the_o say_a sir_n james_n stewart_n that_o if_o any_o shire_n or_o burgh_n be_v deficient_a in_o payment_n of_o their_o part_n of_o this_o maintenance_n to_o employ_v any_o force_n that_o shall_v happen_v to_o be_v upon_o the_o bound_n for_o the_o time_n or_o in_o the_o next_o neighbour_a bound_n adjacent_a thereto_o for_o uplift_v of_o the_o say_v month_n maintenance_n from_o the_o deficient_a shire_n burgh_n and_o paroch_n which_o troop_n be_v to_o receive_v their_o entertainment_n from_o the_o deficient_o at_o the_o ordinary_a rate_n beside_o the_o payment_n of_o their_o maintenance_n and_o it_o be_v hereby_o ordain_v that_o the_o committee_n of_o war_n within_o the_o several_a shire_n shall_v be_v aid_v and_o assist_v the_o say_a general_n commissary_n herein_o for_o inbr_v of_o the_o say_a maintenance_n and_o in_o regard_n of_o the_o prorogate_a of_o the_o foresay_a maintenance_n on_o the_o shire_n and_o burgh_n for_o the_o say_a month_n of_o february_n it_o be_v statute_n and_o ordain_v by_o the_o estate_n of_o parliament_n that_o every_o debtor_n shall_v have_v retention_n from_o the_o creditor_n of_o one_o of_o each_o eight_o payable_a for_o annual_a rent_n for_o the_o say_a month_n above_o specify_v so_o that_o the_o debtor_n shall_v be_v liable_a in_o payment_n of_o seven_o of_o annual_a rent_n of_o each_o hundred_o of_o stock_n proportional_o according_a to_o the_o say_a month_n with_o this_o provision_n always_o that_o no_o debtor_n whatsoever_o shall_v have_v the_o foresay_a benefit_n of_o retention_n who_o shall_v not_o pay_v his_o annual_a rent_n to_o the_o creditor_n within_o the_o space_n of_o one_fw-mi year_n after_o that_o one_o precede_a year_n annual_a rent_n be_v full_o rest_v owe_v unpaid_a and_o in_o regard_n of_o the_o present_a distress_a condition_n of_o the_o sheriffdom_n of_o argyle_n and_o bute_n the_o estate_n do_v exeem_v the_o whole_a sheriffdom_n of_o argyle_n from_o all_o payment_n of_o the_o foresay_a one_o month_n maintenance_n of_o february_n instant_a as_o also_o exeem_v the_o sheriffdom_n of_o bute_n from_o all_o payment_n of_o the_o equal_a half_a of_o the_o say_v month_n maintenance_n and_o ordain_v the_o same_o shire_n of_o bute_n to_o be_v only_o liable_a in_o payment_n of_o the_o whole_a half_n of_o the_o say_v month_n maintenance_n and_o to_o be_v proportionable_o pay_v by_o the_o heretor_n and_o other_o liable_a in_o payment_n thereof_o through_o the_o whole_a shire_n of_o bute_n as_o also_o the_o estate_n declare_v this_o present_a act_n to_o be_v without_o prejudice_n of_o the_o act_n grant_v in_o favour_n of_o the_o town_n of_o innerne_n of_o the_o five_o of_o january_n 1647._o year_n that_o any_o taxation_n or_o imposition_n to_o be_v lay_v on_o that_o town_n be_v allow_v to_o they_o in_o part_n of_o their_o loss_n conform_v to_o the_o tenor_n of_o that_o act_n and_o last_o it_o be_v ordain_v that_o no_o suspension_n be_v grant_v without_o consignation_n and_o that_o all_o heritor_n within_o burgh_n pendicles_a and_o liberty_n thereof_o shall_v contribute_v with_o they_o for_o payment_n of_o the_o maintenance_n as_o be_v mention_v in_o the_o act_n of_o the_o 27._o of_o february_n 1645._o year_n and_o the_o say_n estate_n ordain_v that_o the_o land_n and_o teind_n shall_v pay_v the_o foresay_a maintenance_n as_o they_o lie_v local_o in_o shire_n and_o burgh_n conform_v to_o the_o former_a act_n of_o maintenance_n and_o it_o be_v hereby_o declare_v that_o this_o act_n be_v to_o be_v without_o prejudice_n of_o the_o privilege_n of_o the_o lord_n of_o session_n conform_v to_o
