c_o r_o a_o proclamation_n anent_o the_o mint_n and_o declare_v spanish_a rial_n current_n at_o fifty_o six_o shilling_n scot_n charles_n by_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n king_n of_o great_a britain_n france_n and_o ireland_n defender_n of_o the_o faith_n to_o our_o lovit_n macer_n of_o our_o privy_a council_n messenger_n at_o arm_n our_o sheriff_n in_o that_o part_n conjunct_o and_o several_o special_o constitute_v greeting_n whereas_o several_a abuss_n be_v creep_v into_o the_o mint_n of_o this_o our_o ancient_a kingdom_n which_o necessary_o require_v amendment_n for_o secure_v the_o fynness_n and_o weight_n of_o our_o coin_n and_o reduce_v it_o again_o to_o its_o state_n and_o condition_n appoint_v by_o our_o law_n and_o act_n of_o parliament_n and_o since_o several_a difficulty_n do_v occur_v herein_o which_o can_v best_o be_v remee_v by_o we_o with_o advice_n of_o our_o parliament_n we_o therefore_o with_o advice_n of_o our_o privy_a council_n have_v think_v fit_a to_o stop_v all_o coinage_n in_o this_o our_o kingdom_n until_o the_o first_o meet_v of_o our_o parliament_n and_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n we_o require_v and_o command_v all_o person_n liable_a in_o payment_n of_o bullion_n to_o pay_v in_o the_o same_o as_o former_o to_o our_o thesaurer_n or_o thesaurer_n depute_v or_o any_o who_o shall_v be_v appoint_v by_o they_o to_o receive_v in_o the_o same_o and_o further_o it_o be_v our_o will_n and_o pleasure_n that_o all_o spanish_a rial_n be_v of_o the_o weight_n of_o fourteen_o drop_n shall_v be_v current_n within_o this_o our_o kingdom_n at_o fifty_o six_o shilling_n scot_n each_o ryal_n until_o we_o declare_v our_o further_a pleasure_n and_o to_o the_o effect_n all_o our_o subject_n may_v have_v notice_n hereof_o our_o will_n be_v and_o we_o charge_v you_o strict_o and_o command_v that_o incontinent_a these_o our_o letter_n see_v you_o pass_v to_o the_o mercat_n cross_n of_o edinburgh_n and_o mercat_n cross_v of_o the_o several_a head_n burgh_n of_o this_o our_o kingdom_n and_o other_o place_n needful_a and_o thereat_o by_o open_a proclamation_n make_v publication_n of_o the_o premise_n that_o obedience_n may_v be_v give_v thereto_o according_o give_v under_o our_o signet_n at_o edinburgh_n the_o four_o day_n of_o july_n 1683._o and_o of_o our_o reign_n the_o 35th_o year_n per_fw-la actum_fw-la dominorum_fw-la secreti_fw-la concilij_fw-la will._n paterson_n cls._n sti._n concilij_fw-la god_n save_v the_o king_n edinburgh_n print_v by_o the_o heir_n of_o andrew_n anderson_n printer_n to_o his_o most_o sacred_a majesty_n anno_fw-la dom._n 1683._o
