1640._o sess_n 3._o ordain_v all_o idolatrous_a image_n crucifix_n picture_n of_o christ_n &_o all_o other_o idolatrous_a picture_n to_o be_v demolish_v and_o remove_v forth_o and_o from_o all_o kirk_n college_n chapel_n and_o other_o public_a place_n therefore_o ordain_v all_o presbytery_n to_o take_v diligent_a trial_n of_o all_o idolatrous_a picture_n and_o image_n be_v within_o kirkes_n college_n chapel_n and_o other_o public_a place_n and_o after_o trial_n intimate_v the_o same_o first_o to_o the_o owner_n and_o party_n themselves_o that_o they_o may_v remove_v the_o fame_n and_o in_o case_n they_o do_v neither_o appeal_v present_o from_o the_o presbytery_n in_o the_o ordinary_a way_n to_o the_o synod_n and_o general_a assembly_n nor_o remove_v they_o within_o the_o space_n of_o three_o month_n then_o to_o intimate_v the_o same_o to_o all_o sheriff_n steward_n bailiff_n magistrate_n of_o burgh_n or_o regality_n within_o the_o which_o the_o same_o shall_v be_v find_v and_o ordain_v they_o upon_o the_o requisition_n to_o be_v make_v to_o they_o by_o the_o said_n presbytery_n moderator_n or_o brethren_n thereof_o to_o raze_v demolish_v abolish_v cast_v down_o or_o deface_v all_o these_o idolatrous_a image_n picture_n and_o other_o idolatrous_a monument_n foresaid_n according_a as_o they_o shall_v be_v enjoin_v and_o direct_v from_o the_o say_n presbytery_n
