of_o relate_v and_o correlate_n they_o never_o call_v the_o work_n of_o the_o ministry_n the_o correlate_n but_o only_o obiter_fw-la and_o 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d they_o assert_v the_o office_n although_o the_o minister_n in_o the_o concrete_a have_v the_o church_n for_o his_o correlatum_fw-la yet_o that_o the_o ministry_n in_o the_o abstract_n shall_v have_v relation_n to_o the_o work_n be_v except_v and_o our_o dear_a brethren_n in_o new-england_n both_o know_v by_o the_o name_n of_o congregationall_a man_n so_o call_v from_o this_o their_o first_o principle_n that_o the_o scripture_n own_v no_o visible_a church_n but_o one_o congregation_n from_o hence_o it_o must_v needs_o follow_v according_a to_o our_o brethren_n mind_n that_o minister_n be_v minister_n only_o to_o their_o own_o congregation_n as_o on_o the_o other_o side_n they_o that_o own_o another_o church_n beside_o congregational_a do_v assert_v that_o minister_n have_v a_o double_a relation_n the_o one_o to_o their_o own_o particular_a flock_n the_o other_o to_o the_o whole_a church_n and_o thus_o much_o for_o the_o rise_n of_o the_o question_n for_o our_o brethren_n mind_n we_o shall_v not_o need_v to_o go_v far_o they_o affirm_v positive_o that_o officer_n stand_v in_o relation_n to_o a_o particular_a church_n only_o and_o they_o deny_v they_o to_o be_v officer_n to_o a_o church_n universal_a or_o to_o any_o but_o their_o own_o flock_n pag._n 8._o but_o here_o i_o can_v but_o take_v notice_n of_o a_o weighty_a difference_n among_o our_o congregational_a brethren_n in_o which_o they_o shall_v do_v well_o to_o be_v reconcile_v before_o they_o endeavour_v too_o eager_o to_o obtrude_v their_o notion_n upon_o the_o world_n it_o be_v this_o mr._n shepherd_n and_o allen_n in_o their_o answer_n to_o the_o nine_o question_n assert_v that_o though_o minister_n be_v officer_n only_o to_o their_o own_o flock_n yet_o they_o may_v perform_v act_n of_o their_o office_n towards_o other_o need_v and_o choose_v twenty_o shepherd_n to_o look_v to_o his_o sheep_n and_o these_o shepherd_n because_o each_o of_o they_o can_v possible_o look_v to_o all_o do_v therefore_o distribute_v the_o sheep_n into_o twenty_o parcel_n and_o each_o undertake_v to_o look_v to_o his_o share_n yet_o so_o as_o that_o in_o thing_n of_o common_a concernment_n to_o all_o the_o sheep_n they_o all_o meet_v and_o consult_v together_o etc._n etc._n but_o in_o matter_n of_o private_a concernment_n every_o man_n look_v to_o his_o own_o parcel_n in_o this_o case_n every_o shepherd_n have_v a_o double_a relation_n the_o one_o general_a to_o the_o whole_a the_o other_o particular_a to_o his_o own_o parcel_n which_o he_o do_v more_o especial_o take_v care_n for_o and_o feed_v and_o keep_v and_o watch_v over_o etc._n etc._n and_o in_o case_n any_o of_o those_o sheep_n which_o proper_o belong_v not_o to_o his_o charge_n go_v astray_o if_o he_o see_v they_o and_o can_v keep_v they_o in_o he_o be_v oblige_v by_o virtue_n of_o his_o office_n to_o do_v it_o and_o if_o through_o his_o neglect_n they_o miscarry_v he_o do_v not_o only_a sin_n against_o charity_n but_o against_o his_o office_n this_o be_v the_o case_n of_o the_o church_n and_o so_o it_o be_v out_o of_o doubt_n with_o the_o apostle_n unto_o who_o christ_n commit_v the_o care_n of_o his_o sheep_n indefinite_o and_o because_o each_o of_o they_o can_v not_o look_v to_o all_o therefore_o the_o sheep_n be_v divide_v into_o parcel_n and_o every_o apostle_n take_v upon_o himself_o a_o special_a relation_n unto_o some_o one_o parcel_n whole_a empire_n and_o be_v a_o officer_n to_o the_o whole_a not_o single_o and_o by_o himself_o but_o together_o with_o other_o be_v entrust_v with_o a_o joint-power_n of_o govern_v the_o whole_a as_o in_o case_n of_o choose_v of_o a_o emperor_n or_o other_o weighty_a affair_n of_o the_o empire_n as_o the_o necessity_n and_o occasion_n of_o the_o empire_n require_v just_o so_o it_o be_v in_o the_o church_n which_o be_v one_o entire_a body_n as_o the_o empire_n be_v govern_v by_o one_o systeme_n of_o law_n and_o mould_v under_o one_o government_n every_o minister_n have_v a_o double_a relation_n the_o one_o special_a and_o peculiar_a to_o his_o own_o flock_n which_o he_o be_v to_o feed_v constant_o the_o other_o general_a to_o the_o whole_a church_n which_o he_o be_v to_o feed_v occasional_o as_o far_o as_o his_o ability_n will_v reach_v and_o as_o the_o church_n exigency_n command_v and_o which_o he_o together_o with_o other_o have_v a_o power_n to_o govern_v this_o will_v be_v put_v out_o of_o doubt_n by_o consider_v more_o full_o that_o which_o even_o now_o be_v intimate_v of_o the_o apostle_n themselves_o who_o also_o have_v this_o double_a relation_n one_o to_o ordinary_o and_o constant_o and_o the_o apostle_n though_o it_o be_v impossible_a for_o every_o one_o of_o they_o actual_o to_o teach_v every_o church_n they_o neither_o can_v do_v it_o nor_o do_v it_o yet_o it_o be_v possible_a for_o each_o apostle_n joint_o with_o the_o rest_n to_o govern_v every_o church_n and_o they_o do_v actual_o rule_v all_o the_o church_n at_o least_o all_o the_o church_n there_o mention_v in_o that_o famous_a synod_n act_v 15._o in_o which_o whether_o they_o act_v as_o apostle_n or_o as_o ordinary_a elder_n all_o be_v one_o to_o the_o present_a question_n these_o two_o may_v very_o well_o consist_v together_o to_o say_v that_o these_o prophet_n be_v extraordinary_a officer_n in_o respect_n of_o their_o gift_n and_o yet_o the_o ordinary_a pastor_n of_o corinth_n in_o regard_n of_o their_o office_n and_o relation_n and_o see_v there_o be_v a_o competent_a number_n of_o extraordinary_a officer_n reside_v in_o that_o church_n it_o be_v most_o fit_a they_o shall_v be_v the_o ordinary_a pastor_n of_o that_o church_n quoad_fw-la exercitium_fw-la muneris_fw-la and_o in_o this_o sense_n we_o may_v safe_o embrace_v both_o what_o the_o worthy_a
