more_o righteousness_n in_o our_o believe_v as_o we_o do_v act_n believe_v than_o there_o be_v in_o any_o other_o gracious_a act_n whatsoever_o we_o do_v there_o be_v no_o more_o righteousness_n in_o the_o act_n of_o our_o beleve_v then_o be_v in_o our_o love_n of_o god_n nay_o more_o there_o be_v as_o much_o sinfulness_n in_o our_o act_n of_o believe_v as_o in_o our_o act_n of_o other_o gift_n there_o be_v no_o man_n under_o heaven_n have_v attain_v unto_o that_o height_n of_o believe_v or_o that_o strength_n of_o faith_n but_o there_o be_v still_o something_o want_v some_o imperfection_n and_o sinfulness_n in_o it_o and_o as_o there_o be_v weakness_n and_o imperfection_n in_o believe_v so_o it_o be_v not_o possible_a that_o this_o believe_v shall_v give_v forth_o such_o a_o righteousness_n as_o to_o constitute_v a_o person_n who_o be_v unrighteous_a in_o himself_o to_o be_v righteous_a before_o god_n that_o which_o can_v set_v itself_o complete_a and_o righteous_a before_o god_n can_v never_o set_v another_o righteous_a before_o god_n faith_n must_v be_v first_o just_a itself_o or_o else_o it_o be_v not_o possible_a it_o shall_v be_v imagine_v it_o can_v ever_o believer_n so_o it_o be_v say_v to_o justify_v by_o its_o own_o act_n declarative_o and_o no_o otherwise_o and_o whereas_o in_o the_o 5._o chapter_n to_o the_o roman_n and_o the_o 1._o verse_n the_o apostle_n there_o say_v be_v justify_v by_o faith_n we_o have_v peace_n with_o god_n in_o rom._n 8._o vers_fw-la 33._o the_o apostle_n say_v it_o be_v god_n that_o justifi_v now_o i_o beseech_v you_o believe_v the_o argument_n indeed_o be_v lay_v as_o strong_a as_o may_v be_v and_o peradventure_o may_v seem_v to_o have_v a_o undeniable_a strength_n in_o it_o now_o i_o shall_v desire_v and_o observe_v that_o in_o the_o 17._o chapter_n of_o john_n where_o christ_n speak_v to_o the_o father_n himself_o and_o now_o father_n i_o come_v to_o thou_o here_o christ_n come_v to_o the_o father_n he_o do_v believe_v yea_o be_v have_v so_o say_v the_o text._n i_o but_o yet_o jacob_n must_v be_v hate_v till_o he_o do_v believe_v because_o jacob_n till_o he_o do_v believe_v must_v bear_v his_o and_o their_o believe_v be_v that_o which_o knit_v the_o knot_n between_o christ_n and_o they_o whence_o come_v this_o believe_v where_o be_v the_o root_n of_o it_o be_v christ_n the_o root_n then_o have_v they_o first_o union_n with_o christ_n that_o they_o may_v receive_v it_o from_o he_o then_o must_v they_o first_o be_v unite_v unto_o christ_n and_o make_v one_o with_o he_o and_o live_v in_o he_o and_o by_o virtue_n of_o union_n with_o he_o receive_v this_o faith_n as_o a_o fruit_n of_o that_o union_n if_o it_o proceed_v from_o some_o other_o root_n i_o beseech_v you_o consider_v how_o it_o can_v be_v and_o how_o can_v this_o be_v avoid_v but_o that_o this_o conceit_n must_v needs_o be_v exceed_v derogatory_n to_o christ_n to_o make_v another_o foundation_n beside_o christ_n whereas_o in_o heb._n 12._o it_o be_v express_o say_v there_o christ_n be_v the_o author_n as_o well_o as_o the_o finisher_n of_o faith_n belove_a upon_o these_o consideration_n for_o my_o own_o part_n i_o have_v receive_v this_o principle_n that_o i_o have_v deliver_v unto_o you_o and_o mere_o the_o vindication_n of_o the_o glorious_a privilege_n which_o be_v proper_a &_o peculiar_a unto_o christ_n alone_o be_v the_o occasion_n that_o i_o do_v refer_v the_o be_v
righteousness_n but_o the_o righteousness_n of_o faith_n must_v be_v consider_v mere_o &_o only_o as_o it_o be_v christ_n alone_o and_o not_o as_o it_o be_v any_o righteousness_n of_o faith_n itself_o
